Hi all,
sorry I haven't had time to post. My mum has been here for a few days which has been great but I don't seem to have had a minute to myself.
Caitlin is 15 days old now and we have been really lucky with her, she is a very easy baby. She seems to love routine already and feeds and sleeps at fairly set times. At night she is sleeping 10.30-4 then has a feed and sleeps 5-8ish so I feel more rested than when I was pregnant. I don't know if it will last so we are just enjoying every night for now . During the day she feeds for 15min every 3 hours and up until Tuesday she just slept in between but she has been more alert in the morning and evening for the last day or 2 which is nice. I was a bit worried as she won't feed for any longer than her 15 min but she was weighed on Monday and is now 8lb 13 (she was 9lb 2 when born but dropped to 8lb 7) so the hv was quite happy. I've been really engorged though - DP could tell which side I needed to feed from next from the other side of the room it was so huge and I was leaking everywhere - so I think she got quite a full feed in that time.
I'm feeling really well after the section too - I have finished all my meds and I have been getting out walking with the pram every day now I have a bit more energy. Mum and I have been shopping and out for lunch which is nice - so far I have fitted it all between feeds or I have fed her in the car but I will have to work up the courage for our first public feed soon . I'm just feeling really lucky to be enjoying these early days so much. I think I spend most of the day with a disgusting soppy smile on my face . The other nice bit of news I had (shallow mum alert!) is my midwife commented today that I looked like I have lost weight so I jumped on the scales and I only weigh 2lb more than when I fell pregnant - that is still about 2 stone overweight but it's a good start. I haven't dieted but I didn't put too much on when I was pregnant and I guess with her feeding so fast I don't have time for a cake habit!
Tink - I am so jealous you have all your xmas shopping done . Not only have I not started I tried making a list when I was pregnant and don't have a clue what to get anyone.
Can't - AF is def keeping you on your toes! Have you had a bumbo for any of the others? Mum was thinking of getting DD one for her xmas but I know some kids just climb out. The other option was a play nest and I'm not sure which would be best.
Gyo/Ses - really interesting to hear about baby-led weaning. I think we will go down that route in about 6 months.
Diege - hope you are feeling better!
Kayz - enjoy the goth weekend.
