diege - good thinking they wouldnt come down - then they would stay in a hotel not here!!! we have never asked if they would but doubt it.

Kayzr · 29/10/2009 07:13

Morning,

I'm hiding from DH as he is trying to descale the iron so he can iron his shirt. It is his Grandad's funeral today. He was 94 so has had a good old life.
I'm staying at home with the boys as they are too little to go.

Hope everyone is ok.

Hi KAYZ! Think hiding is a good idea...hope the funeral goes ok x
Not sure of this new mumsnet set out; looks very clinical!
Have all 4 at home today and feel lousy. Just a cold but just feel like crawling back into bed...Am tempted to take them all to playbarn hell but have worked out it will cost nearly £15, and that's without drinks/snacks etc, so it's the library and park I think. Did you ever get to that pirate ship park in Whitby KAYZ?
Right, need to wash off dd3's hedrin - the glamour
Hope everyone is ok - where are you all???

Kayzr · 29/10/2009 08:37

I don't like the new Mumsnet either.

We haven't been to the pirate ship park yet. Will have to do it sometime. Going to Whitby on Saturday for goth weekend. Can't wait!!

Morning- AF still isn't here and showing no signs of arriving!!

DD1 is much better, but DD2 is still a bit chesty- still getting better though so i really dont think the GP is needed.

Kayz- hope DH gets on ok at the funeral.

I feel lousy- think there's a chance i'm starting to get what the girls have/had... been really tired the last few nights- ie in bed between 7.30 and 8.30 the last 4 nights- start feeling really exhausted and 'ill' by mid-afternoon.

Can't think of much to add here as i'm soooooo tired still!!

Diege · 29/10/2009 08:41

Ooh CANT maybe just a teeny test??? As you say probably just picking up what dds have had, but if you have a test then why not, just to eliminate??
KAYZ, wow Goth weekend already! You must post a piccie of you dressed up

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/10/2009 08:51

Diege- you know DH asked me to test 'just to be certain'.... i actually laughed at him as there can't be any way- i had all this last month and after 3 tests wasted AF arrived!! BUT.... after the tiredness i'm thinking- 'well the test is there and i'm nearly 2weeks late- it'd tell me one way or another'... but then i'd get a BFN and feel stupid as i knew anyway!! God i dont know- i mean another thing i've said to both DH and my sister is that i've not been sick- if i were pg i'd have been sick by now!! haha !!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/10/2009 08:52

right- i'm starting to need the loo so i'm gonna POAS and get the BFN so i can settle DH's mind- and maybe yours too Diege!!

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 29/10/2009 08:56

diege sorry you r feeling lousy
oh good luck cant

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 29/10/2009 08:57

Morning!

Diege - all 4 whilst feeling lousy (oops! no Hedrin reference intended!) doesn't sound fun. Hope they are all on good form for you and the park is fun.

Can't - is that 0.00000001% chance growing at all? Hope you're feeling better soon.

Kay - poor DH. Hope all goes well at the funeral. V impressed he's trying to descale the iron but don't blame you for keeping out of the way!

DS is having great fun this morning rolling around on the floor in front of Fireman Sam (seems to be a favourite!) He's pushing up on his back legs andgetting frustrated that he can't just move across the room. He is managing a bit of commando crawling though
I'm going to get him weighed later as it's been 3 weeks. I'm guessing he'l be around 17lb but his bug may have slowed him down a bit.

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 29/10/2009 08:59

Ooh! x-posted!

Can't - I'll hang on to get your BFN...

Morning tink!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/10/2009 09:01

BFN- just as expected- AF has just decided to play me for a fool once again!!

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 29/10/2009 09:05

How frustrating but a relief at the same time I guess.

I'm still waiting for my first AF to turn up. I've not started any weaning yet. Plan to first weekend of November. It may still take quite a while for BF to reduce though I guess if I'm lucky it may hold off until the new year and I may only have a few before ttc again

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 29/10/2009 09:10

bet u r relieved cant ;p

hi ses ds sounds cute bracken does comando crawling and sits herslef up from lieing all the time

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/10/2009 09:52

I knew i wasn't PG anyway- been double careful since last months massive scare!! I honestly thought i was PG last month!! now it isn't bothering me so much- though i'm not enjoying having to take 'stuff' with me wherever i go 'just-in-case'...

Ses- DD is loving her foods- has been off it since being ill but she ate some breakfast (mashed banana) this morning which is a first since last friday- so she's defo feeling much better!! She's starting to get the hang of holding things to eat herself too- not that she eats anything yet but she has a darn good suck on whatever she has so thats progress.- in fact last week she'd had her own tea and i was eating mine and she was screaming and launching towards my plate so i ripped some of my yorkshire pudding (bad mummy smily) for her to hold to see how she was with it and she just started sucking it- she obviously knew what she wanted!!

I once saw someone say on MN that by time you get to DC3 you're weaning on fish fingers - at least i can pride myself on making almost everything she eats myself- so i dont feel too bad a mummy [grin!!

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 29/10/2009 10:00

Sounds good Can't
I'm planning on starting with a stick of soft cooked carrot or brocolli head at lunchtime and then maybe add in a slice of mango or avocado or bit of banana. I've read a bit of Gill Rapley's book so I'm going to try BLW with the idea of moving to him having a bit of what we've had for dinner for his lunch the next day and then adding in breakfast / tea. Probably a bit of fruit at tea time and maybe a bit of porridge for breakfast. I expect it to takea few weeks to get to 3 meals a day.
Does that sounf an ok plan?

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/10/2009 10:08

sounds fine to me- DS and DD1 were like that- i mean i'd do one meal a day as a blitzed full meal and then the other meal would be finger food's to get used to different textures.

It's much different with DD2 as she's wanting the food- screams if anyone's eating around her, tries to launch herself at food, will open her mouth if someone is close to her eating and then moans when the foods not gone to her... so she's definatley ready mentally- but physically she's not ready at all- i mean when she took the yorkshire pud to her mouth the other week amazed me as she's never really taken things other than her own fingers to her mouth. Also she's not sitting up enough to get into her highchair so i have to prop her up on the sofa to feed her atm as in the seat we have for on the table she could launch forward and hurt herself.

Diege · 29/10/2009 12:00

Your food plans sound great SES (as do your current plans CANT)You've given me some inspiration too, though I'm mainly sticking to purees etc for now as ds's hand eye coordination not so good! Suppose BLW does fit better with 6 mth plus weaning and them being able to direct things towards their mouth! Don;t want to repeat the rusk in eye scenario again - the crumbs weren;t great tp get out
Bombay duck stuff has arrived - v.impressed!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/10/2009 12:37

have just seen that bumbo's are only £32 with the play tray at mothercare- can't make up my mind wether to get one for DD2 or not. She has her bouncy chair- which i'd most likely sell if i bought a bumbo- however i do plan to buy her one of these for xmas... so dont know if the bumbo would still get use after then.... any ideas?

GYo · 29/10/2009 12:39

Hello everyone

Sorry for random posting again.

Plan sounds great Ses- just how we did it now we are on 3 meals a day and DD is eating and swallowing loads.

The babyledweaning forums are great. you will find me and Cosmo over there

LOL Cant about the fishfingers. We make homemade fishcakes and shape them into fingers for DD. Its one of her favourites, made with sweet pot or butternut squash. Oddly, we get a lot of people commenting on that as if its bad when we are out. I just smile sweetly and explain its homemade.

GYo · 29/10/2009 13:12

thats not to say that the BLW forums are any better than this one.

We will move over to post natal once Moosy has delivered?

Or do we hang on in Antenatal for the next round of wagon babies....

IDOBisamummy · 29/10/2009 13:39

Hi all,

sorry I haven't had time to post. My mum has been here for a few days which has been great but I don't seem to have had a minute to myself.

Caitlin is 15 days old now and we have been really lucky with her, she is a very easy baby. She seems to love routine already and feeds and sleeps at fairly set times. At night she is sleeping 10.30-4 then has a feed and sleeps 5-8ish so I feel more rested than when I was pregnant. I don't know if it will last so we are just enjoying every night for now . During the day she feeds for 15min every 3 hours and up until Tuesday she just slept in between but she has been more alert in the morning and evening for the last day or 2 which is nice. I was a bit worried as she won't feed for any longer than her 15 min but she was weighed on Monday and is now 8lb 13 (she was 9lb 2 when born but dropped to 8lb 7) so the hv was quite happy. I've been really engorged though - DP could tell which side I needed to feed from next from the other side of the room it was so huge and I was leaking everywhere - so I think she got quite a full feed in that time.

I'm feeling really well after the section too - I have finished all my meds and I have been getting out walking with the pram every day now I have a bit more energy. Mum and I have been shopping and out for lunch which is nice - so far I have fitted it all between feeds or I have fed her in the car but I will have to work up the courage for our first public feed soon . I'm just feeling really lucky to be enjoying these early days so much. I think I spend most of the day with a disgusting soppy smile on my face . The other nice bit of news I had (shallow mum alert!) is my midwife commented today that I looked like I have lost weight so I jumped on the scales and I only weigh 2lb more than when I fell pregnant - that is still about 2 stone overweight but it's a good start. I haven't dieted but I didn't put too much on when I was pregnant and I guess with her feeding so fast I don't have time for a cake habit!

Tink - I am so jealous you have all your xmas shopping done . Not only have I not started I tried making a list when I was pregnant and don't have a clue what to get anyone.

Can't - AF is def keeping you on your toes! Have you had a bumbo for any of the others? Mum was thinking of getting DD one for her xmas but I know some kids just climb out. The other option was a play nest and I'm not sure which would be best.

Gyo/Ses - really interesting to hear about baby-led weaning. I think we will go down that route in about 6 months.

Diege - hope you are feeling better!

Kayz - enjoy the goth weekend.

tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 29/10/2009 14:26

Starshinetiger · 29/10/2009 15:35

Just a quick post to bookmark.
Access is sketchy as home pc has died, so am using work pc, but it is temperamental and hasn't allowed web access for last few days.

of all of you being so successful at shopping for xmas. Am offinto town tomorrow to get some.

DS currently asleep on me, on sofa and DD stirring from her nap, so best go....

IDOB - lovely that you are enjoying early days so much, sounds like you have an angel baby there!
