Hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LotusPalm · 30/09/2009 15:02

Suey - i'm being dumb! You wouldn't do a non-pregnancy pilates class? Or you wouldn't have a nuchal scan!!
Sorry for being thick

If its the former, do you know any handy way that i can serach fro specific classes? I'm a google master and nothing is coming up!

Carikube · 30/09/2009 15:11

We can have the nuchal scan and we also get the 20 week anomaly scan (I'm starting to realise that I am lucky to live in my part of the country!). As with DD though, we have refused all abnormality testing - even if the nuchal scan did show a high risk (quite possible given that I'm 36) we know we wouldn't have the amnio or CVS due to the risk of miscarriage so it seems pointless. It's just a case of fingers crossed that everything is ok

sweetkitty · 30/09/2009 15:12

Just realised I have not eaten since about 1030am

Oven chips with vinegar, salt, ketchup and mayo, very healthy

LolaAnn · 30/09/2009 15:34

mmm delicious. I have a bit of a vinegar thing going on but for balsamic on salads hehe.

memorylapse · 30/09/2009 15:45

sweetkitty- Im that you dont get a 20 week anomaly scan!

suey2 · 30/09/2009 16:13

lotus the pilates. if you can't find pg pilates have a look for yoga.

We're going private so i will have all the scans: though we went NHS last time and had all the scans too!

I would have the CVS or amnio if the quadruple test put me at high risk. When i looked at this last time the risks are negligible in certain centres: it seems to be important who does the procedure. We wouldn't keep a down's baby: we've discussed it and thought about it at length.

OP posts:
LotusPalm · 30/09/2009 16:20

Thanks Suey. Will look, but i'm not overlly keen on yoga. Not sure why but it doesn't really suit me!

I live in SW London, so its hardly the back of beyond. I just cant be looking right...

suey2 · 30/09/2009 16:28

there are loads!Where in SW london are you?

LotusPalm · 30/09/2009 16:37

I'm loath to blame pregnancy brain, but... (can i get away with that yet? )

Near Richmond? I'd rather not travel to much, but Putney or Chiswick are fairly handy...

VivClicquot · 30/09/2009 16:38

Hi girls

I feel strangely proud to have prompted all this wedding talk. It's lovely to hear all your stories - makes me feel really excited about mine.

So, in terms of our plans - well, we're getting married at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire - it's an old medieval castle, so I'm kind of hoping the weather will be really wintry (thunder, lightning, you name it!) as we're having it all candlelit and sparkly inside. (You have no idea how much I've spent on candles )

The flowers will be ivory avalanche roses.

Obv you know my dress is an Ian Stuart meringue. The bridesmaids will be wearing black tea-length prom-style dresses, accessorised with a touch of sparkle.

And guess what, lotus - we're off on honeymoon to Thailand too! Three weeks travelling to Bangkok > Chiang Rai > Chiang Mai > finishing up with a week on a beach in Khao Lak. I. Can't. Bloody. Wait.

As for the pg - morning sickness has properly kicked in. Bleurgh. Last night I craved boiled eggs with soldiers, but I had to make do with hard boiled. I was not happy.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 30/09/2009 17:31

Viv - your wedding sounds beautiful I hope you get a nice stormy night, sounds like it'd be fantastic!

suey2 · 30/09/2009 18:06

lotus i would ask your pilates teacher- there are so many on google that don't say if they do pregnancy classes in your area! When I was pg the first time, i was really surprised what is advised against which is why i am always a bit cautious when i dont know the instructor personally. I never used to treat SPD for example, but now i am up to speed on the guidelines/research i do.

OP posts:
Carikube · 30/09/2009 19:09

Ooh Viv, that sounds almost identical to our trip last year - where are you staying in Khao Lak? [starting to get wistful about pre-DC holidays emoticon]

MooMoosmum · 30/09/2009 19:22

Hi folks

Well, I've had a scan! . I am really lucky that we can afford for me to go privately, so went to see the Consultant yesterday (Tuesday).

I held my breath when he plonked the wand thing over my (already!) fat tummy and lo and behold, there it was, my little coffe bean! For such a small thing, its giving me loads of gyp. LOL

I am measuring six weeks, 4 days, but I think I am 7 weeks. I'm not going to quibble about the odd day here or there. It still gives me a due date of 18th May.

So excited and yet so sick! LOL.

Hollyoaks · 30/09/2009 19:47

jilly always congratulations, twins but lovely.

lolaann congratulations, hope your not too homesick but don't blame you wanting to be home for when the baby comes.

viv your wedding sounds lovely, I got married in a castle too with loads of candles. It was absolutely gorgeous but really really warm outside and we were melting when getting married.

sweetkitty no 20 week scan? Thats crazy! I can't believe their allowed to get away with it.

moomoo you got to see your bubs.

Just thought I would let you know, my ds went to see her consultant today as she is classed as a high risk pg. Anyway, she mentioned that she had been using a foetal heart monitor at home but was told by the consultant that they were dangerous and unregulated. Apparently the ultrasound waves (?) maybe higher than recommended and could harm the baby! I knew nothing about that as it was my monitor from having dd. Just thought I would let you know.

30ish · 30/09/2009 20:15

Hi Everyone!

Can I please join this thread? I've been watching from the sidelines and think it's about time I joined!

My stats;

19 May - 30ish - 31, #2

I currently have no ms, although I find myself almost wishing for it some days as it doesn't feel quite real without it somehow! I'm tired and have developed a very, very sore, spotty scalp! Strange I know! I've also got a noticeable bump - my 3 year old DD has taken to singing 'Look at Mummy's big tummy' to everyone who will listen. Obviously not going to be able to keep it a secret for much longer!!

mmmmmchocolate · 30/09/2009 20:39

Welcome 30ish and everyone else new to this thread! The nausea is really bad now, I wish I could be sick as I think it might help me to feel better for a while. Have just spent the day heaving and smelling EVERY BLOODY smell Last time I was sick until 28 weeks and the I suddenly realised I didnt feel sick for the first time when DD was 3 days old :-S I really dont want the sickness to go that far this time Well there was my happy post lol Im just having a bit of a downer day.

VivClicquot · 30/09/2009 20:55

carikube We're staying at The Sarojin. It looks amazing. Whereabouts did you stay?

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 30/09/2009 20:56

Hi girls, been wondering about the sex of the baby - I made a thread last week about the theory that if you have sex on the actual day of ovulation you're more likely to conceive a boy (as male sperm swim faster) and if you have sex a few days before ovulation you're more likely to have a girl (because the theory is female sperm swim slower but last longer than male, so by the time they meet the egg days later only female sperm are left)

When I made that thread I was convinced that we conceived on the actual day of ovulation (so it would most likely have been a boy) BUT when we went for the scan we found out that the baby was measuring 3 days younger than we thought, so there's a chance we may have conceived a girl - a very exciting prospect for us as we would love to have one of each (although we would be happy with another boy too, obviously!)

Has anybody got any theories or gut feelings about what theirs will be?

memorylapse · 30/09/2009 21:08

interesting stuff..must admit..DH and I bd on the day I think I ovulated..so guess it might be a boy, but must admit Im convinced its a boy anyway because of how bad the sickness has been and Ive only ever had it this bad with the boys...speaking of which..Ive done nothing but throw up this evening and Im exhausted

suey2 · 30/09/2009 21:12

I think I may be carrying a boy. But then, I thought that last time! So no idea really.
Baaaaaaddd diet today.
Cereal
Bacon sandwich
Chicken wrap
Lemon cheesecake
6 chocolate digestives
Pizza
Chocolate fudge cake

What happened! [red]

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 30/09/2009 21:16

Sex day before ovulation

Pretty sure I am having a girl, same feelings as the other 3 girls, we just don't make boys here, even have a name in mind for her already.

Am bracing myself for all the "trying for a boy" comments, seems everyone else wants us to have a boy, we are not fussed, we knew the chances are we will have another girl and thats fine, girls are fab.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 30/09/2009 21:32

You've said it now Suey! Lemon cheesecake! omg...

Someone on the thread mentioned they were getting a hairy belly. I had that with ds and I believe it was due to the boy hormones in my system (it went after the birth) - was that you forcessweetheart?

Welcome to all the newbies, and extra special congrats to AllwaysDoingSomething with your twins! wow, how exciting.
