brb planks are fine if you are used to them and it's not so difficult that you can't breathe. It's the keeping breathing that is key. I'm really peed off with myself- i didn't run over the summer since we were away, I really want to now, but haven't for 2 months, so it's out. Have booked some Pilates and will try and find a pg yoga class too. TBH i still feel less flexible in my hips and pelvis from the last pg, so it will probably do me some good.

Hi Suey - my pilates teacher wont let me come back until after the 1st trimester. Says its too risky. I did have a short break (about 5/6 weeks) over the summer, might that have something to do with it? I was doing adv pilates before that and am planning to do an instructor course after this pregnancy.
Is she being too cautious?

Couldn't sleep last night despite being exhausted, lay awake all night - I hate that! When I told my dp, he said "me neither" - er, I listened to you snore all night long!!

Forces, I know what you mean about the wind that feels like kicks! My clothes are getting tight and I know it's just because I'm so bloated! Apparently you can use deflatine in pregnancy, might try it.

lotus it's the break that is the problem. I am not reluctant to go pg pilates because i bend over patients all day so am constantly using my transversus anyway. Some of the advanced stuff would be tough after a break and you would be likely to breath hold. Also the pelvis will already be much more wobbly, so you would risk an injury. Is your teacher qualified to teach pg pilates or will it just be a modification of what she teaches already?

suey - I don't think I am going to bother with Pilates, what do you think? Haven't done any for years and think now is not the best time to start. Already having twinges in my hips, last time it started at 12 weeks.

Been a funny few days one of my friends had a wee boy at 33 weeks which in one way was great as she has been bleeding on and off for ages and they were hoping to get her to 33 weeks, another who I saw at toddlers yesterday was 5 days over and had a boy this morning, 8lbs odds in about 10 mins, that the way to do it lol and then another toddler mum who told me she was pregnant on Friday lost the baby over the weekend

As for me really suffering and feeling sorry for myself had a headache for days too, bit of toothache, think one of my many spots is infected and huge!, constantly shattered and feeling sick. Starting to think 4 is not a good idea DP away tomorrow night and all day Saturday and Sunday running a marathon as well. Oh and DD1 off school today could be suspected swine flu as there is a lot of it at her school right now but hopefully just a cough and cold.

threw up just before bed last night then spent the whole night tossing and turning feeling so sick..all I want to do is sleep..im shattered and constantly nauseas

turns out our landlord did give permission to fix our boiler..but the property maintenance company didnt pass this on..it seems now that the part has been ordered so should be in next week.

Found out last tuesday, this is an IVF pg, well a frozen emb transfer to be exact. We had 2 embs put back, so twins shouldn't really have come as a surprise. I was scanned at 5 weeks and only one bubs was seen. At the 8 weeks scan 2 heart beats were detected and the news that it was identical twins really shocked us. We are thrilled and shocked in equal measure.

Allways - thats great news, one of my close friends has IVF twins (nonID) she had 2 embryos put back too, they are 4 now and she said it was hard at first but they are great company for each other now.

Wonder if you will have boys or girls?

I am showing just now and people who now have been saying "twins?" for us it would be a bit of a disaster as this will be baby 4 for us and also two sets of hormones at work on my pelvis would mean a wheelchair for sure and with 3 other DC to look after would be tough to say the least. Will find out on Friday though, just hoping for one healthy little heartbeat will do me fine.

It will be an adaptation of her normal stuff - she does a lot of pilates for people with bad backs and stuff so is used to adapting her routines. I cant find any specific pregnancy pilates classes anywhere around me - is it necessary do you think?

Hi everyone, thought I better add myself to the list, although my EDD is a huge guess . I have PCOS and my periods were about 4 months apart, found out I was pg a week ago - got to the doctors today to sort out contacting a midwife. Any idea how long it normally takes for them to get in contact? She said I need a dating scan urgently but the sheet just gets mailed to them so I feel it could take ages

Anyway a bit about me, this is my first, been married for 2.5 years, just moved to London from New Zealand, so its all quite a lot to take in really and I actually am considering flying home around 8month if possible to have the baby with family. But that's just my homesick mind thinking .

is anyone going for a Nuchel Translucency scan?

our health authority dont do them so the 12 week scan is for dating only. As Im 37 Im thinking of booking a private NT scan..but at the same time Im torn between wanting to be reasurred and how I would feel if the result wasnt what I was expecting..I dont think I could have CVS due to the miscarriage risk

memorylapse personally I'm not as we aren't offered them either but am only 22 so wont bother, I think it would be very reassuring but then again I think it really depends on your finances.

Memory - i've opted for a nuchal scan. our trust offers the combined test. I'm one of those anal retentive types who likes to know everything so i would be reassured by a 'normal' risk factor. Dependant on how high the risk is i would opt for the amnio or CVS as i would like to make a fully informed decision.
Miscarriage risk is about 0.5-1%.

lotus it's a tough call. I personally wouldn't just because there are certain things you have to avoid in PG which are not necessarily predictable.

lolaann you won't be able to fly after 34 weeks

No nuchal scan here either in fact no 20 week anomoly scan either, we will have to pay for one.
