Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 19/10/2009 10:06

Best of luck, Lizzie, I'll be crossing my fingers for you this afternoon but I'm sure it'll all be fine!

I just had a scan date through for the 9th nov, seems like ages away, I'll be 12+4 though so I spose it's about right.

Been reading some stuff about nub theory (guessing the angle of the dangle, so you can tell the sex of the baby at the 12 week scan) If you scroll about 3/4 of the way down the page on that link, you'll see what I'm talking about!

To do it you need to ask the sonographer for a picture of the baby side on and in the middle, bit tricky! Don't know if I'll be able to do it though because my scans are always a bit blurry due to my fat belly!

Jennylee · 19/10/2009 10:25

Hope it goes well lizzie

memorylapse · 19/10/2009 12:15

good luck Lizzie although im sure you wont need it..the fact that youve been feeling so poorly is a good sign..daft though it may seem.

im one day off 12 weeks and still feeling really sick.

it looks like DS does have swine flu as 28 children in his school have all gone down with it..

suey2 · 19/10/2009 12:54

morning all!

I'm defeinitely in the feeling better camp, and only 9+3. Nausea is about the same, but just have more energy than a couple of weeks ago. I also don't have to eat my weight in fish and chips to keep the nausea at bay! (i was just like you until last week, pamelat!)

welcome eatincakealot!

good luck, lizzie9442: can't wait to hear it's all ok

Hi All

I had my early scan today and, unfortunately, it is another mmc so it is goodbye from me for the moment but I wish you all the best with your pregnancies and hope I'll be back on the antenatal threads before too long.

Take care of yourselves.

sweetkitty · 19/10/2009 14:13

fullmoonimarmite - oh no so sorry to hear that, take care of yourself and best of luck with ttc x

suey - great you are feeling better, still feeling rough today, breakfast went down breakfast came back up 5 mins later, am now eating giant chocolate buttons though

memorylapse - there was a SF outbreak at DD1's school too fortunately she didn't get it, maybe you should ask your GP for advice with you being pregnant

Has anyone else thought about whether to have the vaccine? I am very undecided.

lizzie - fingers and toes crossed for you

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 19/10/2009 14:33

FullMoon I'm so sorry to hear that, all the best for trying again when you feel up to it.

Lizzie, lizzie... where are you? how did you get on?

memorylapse · 19/10/2009 14:51

fullmoon..so sorry to hear your news...good luck with TTC again

suey2 · 19/10/2009 15:45

fullmoonimarmite i'm so sorry.

sweetkitty i have started to ask about this. I am so NOT into the idea: I just keep thinking 'thalidomide', however unreasonable that is. I don't think they can gie it to you in the first trimester, anyway. I also feel that since we are due in May and not winter, that by the time our respiration is compromised by the size of our bump, the owrst of it will be over and it will be spring. (hopeful emoticon) I just don't like the idea of putting something in my body that hasn't been thoroughly tested on PG women IYKWIM. What are your thoughts?

OP posts:
pigleychez · 19/10/2009 15:48

fullmoon- so sorry to hear your news. Good luck for next time though.

Lizzie- Hope the scan went ok today.

SK- re the swine flu jab. Currently I dont think I would. From what ive read there doesnt seem to have been enough testing for it. DH said about it the other day.... With the jab you will get the side effects no matter what.. but at least with the flu, theres a better chance you wont get it or not really suffer too much. He put it much better than me!

Just bought myself a new coat. Been looking at maternity coats but they all seem to cost a fortune. I got one in the end from Tesco. Its a swing coat so room for bump. I got one 2 sizes too big. 1 bigger didnt leave much room for thicker jumpers ect so plenty of growing room now. Bargin at £25. but they currently have an offer on coats so only cost me £20! Now I dont have to freeze!

I have my MW booking in appointment on Fri. Looking forward to it but a tad nervous too- silly hey!

Glad to hear people are begining to feel better now.

sweetkitty · 19/10/2009 15:54

pigley - someone else recommended that Swing Coat from Tesco am I like you need a new one but don't want to shell out £££s will check it out

I'm thinking the same as you ladies, don't really want to get the jab, I know a wee bit about viruses and vaccines from my uni days (long time ago then think they were developing the smallpox vaccine then lol) and I just don't like the idea of it, probably won't be offered up here anyway they are so tight.

I want to curl up in a ball right now but still got to take DD1 to Rainbows

Hobnobfanatic · 19/10/2009 15:55

So sorry, Fullmoon; you must be devastated.

Not sure about the vaccine. I heard that there can be detrimental effects on the baby if you get flu, from your temperature rising. So it looks as if we're stuck between a rock and a hard place. Really not sure what to do - the recent pregnant woman death is kind of pointing me towards having the vaccine, but it will be a 'decide at the time' thing for me, I suspect.

LuckyC · 19/10/2009 16:44

Fullmoon I am really sorry to hear such sad news.

LolaAnn · 19/10/2009 17:06

Fullmoon very sorry

I won't be getting flu jab. No way has it been tested enough.

I just had my booking appointment After waiting one hour lol.. but it was all good, my midwife is nice but very old fashioned, the funniest part came when she said to me "Just wait for your 20 week scan and then you can do some swimming, its lovely and gentle" - right then was when I decided not to mention that I had been hitting the gym very regularly doing weights and cardio (dr said it was ok of course) and also refused to discuss homebirth with me till I was 36 weeks. But thats fine with me because really I don't plan on being in the UK to give birth so no big drama.

But yes very nervous about scan on wednesday, will be so nice to know if everything is okay and how far along I am .. march april may or june baby!!

lizzie9442 · 19/10/2009 17:50

hi, I am soooo happy .The scan went really well which I am still in shock about! I really can not believe it. After my last 3 pregnacies ending it seems strange coming away from the hospital with good news if that makes sense. Also the 10cm cyst I had has halved in size so I don't have to have an operation either. I think it will take a while to really believe it. I can actually start getting excited now and hope the sickness passes soon as I am sooo sick today. The scan dated me a little bit earlier though and I am exactly 12 weeks today. My due date is 3rd of May which is my dads birthday aswel as my sisters. Ironic!

lizzie congratulations !!!!!!! You are the last person who should feel guilty that you're scan went well. Fabulous news!

I've read the swine flu thread and put my twopennworth in. Interesting reading.

LolaAnn · 19/10/2009 18:59

Congrats Lizzie very exciting :D

memorylapse · 19/10/2009 19:01

So glad to hear your scan went well lizzie

Ive spent the afternoon in bed...trying to sleep..seems odd that as Ive hit 12 weeks I actually feel worse

pamelat · 19/10/2009 19:27

Sorry fullmoon

I feel very anxious about my scan (for no reason whatsoever). With DD1 I never worried at all. Just feel nervous this time round.

Seeing the midwife tomorrow and was hoping she could listen to heart beat but having read comments on here, it sounds like she wont, just in case she can't find one (because baby too small but will end up with a freaked out mum).

Am 11 weeks tomorrow or Weds, and someone at work asked me today if I was pregnant!! Bit risky I thought as its not a definate bump and could easily offend.

My manager knows but no one else at work.

Re the jab, DH very keen for me to have it but instinct tells me no. Will read up on it but it seems largely a panic reaction and is untested.

Den26 · 19/10/2009 19:54

Hi All, just catching up on thread from over weekend. So sorry for those who have had to leave.

Glad to hear some of us are getting positive scans too.

Re Weight - i think i've lost weight...people keep commenting and asking if im on a diet! And i've gone down a notch in my belt!!! Unfortunately i think its down to not drinking as much alcohol - didn't realise i drank so much !!

I have another scan on thursday im 9 weeks - just to check all is going okay - i hope it is. Got my booking in appointment a week on wed too.

Memorylapse - hope your DS is okay, and you should prob check with GP re your health while pregnant.

I really don't know what to do about vaccine, working for NHS they want us to get swine flu and normal flu jab but very unsure right now.

Love this emotion ... !

Oh also, i have found out that my DB's new girlfriend is 3+ months pregnant - not sure what to think about this really. My family don't know about me yet, since it all went wrong last time i've decided to wait until 12 week scan. Now i selfishly cant help thinking she has stolen my thunder as she hasn't been with my brother for very long...well 3+ months I'm a terrible person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pamelat · 19/10/2009 20:10

Have just read the swine flu post and may have changed my mind.

Am going to ask about the vaccine which is safer (the one begining with c), maybe there is an option to pay for it, as its not the UK's government preferred one?

Den - I would love to know a family member also pregnant, someone to help out and/or share and children to grow up together. My brother nor DH's sister have kids and we really wish that DD had some little cousins. Know what you mean about stealing your thunder though although am sure they will be more excited about you

pamelat · 19/10/2009 20:11

meant my brother and his girlfriend nor DH's sister and her boyf, rather than our siblings being together
