Hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
memorylapse · 13/10/2009 16:39

Lotuspalm..sorry I forgot that you are off on honeymoon at later date..pregnancy brain strikes already..8 weeks time should be perfect because you will be over the first trimester..so will be able to enjoy yourself

LolaAnn · 13/10/2009 16:59

Oh memorylapse that sounds like such a nice booking appointment!! I'm hanging out for mine, 6 days to go yay!!

LotusPalm congrats on a great scan and a little bouncing bean!! How exciting.

Oh by the way everyone - Frozen Peas could be the answer to the constipation problem!! Well they are for me anyway, teehee

LotusPalm · 13/10/2009 17:51

The legume family is really high in fibre - so the best thing to eat if its all getting a bit stuck. Beans are higher in fibre than peas, but peas taste nicer, especially with added sugar whilst cooking!

At least 2 litres of water a day will also help.

All tips from endless searching online - i'm not actually constipated, but things are certainly slower down in that area and i hate the feeling it gives me!

Ooh, soya beans steamed and then sprinkles with sea-salt a la japanese are also great...

x

memory - dont worry, i really wouldn;t expect anyone to remember about the honeymoon! Most of our friends have forgotten already. It would be such a terrible place to be if i was still feeling sick though - all those smells - but thankfully signs are looking good for me feeling human again by then!

memorylapse · 13/10/2009 18:26

by the way is anyone noticing their clothes getting tight..im a bit gutted cos at nearly 11 weeks..i can still cheerfully get in my jeans..sulk

Hobnobfanatic · 13/10/2009 18:41

So much to catch up on! So sorry to hear that things haven't worked out for some; and commisserations to those who are sick and/or constipated. I'm counting the days until this sickness goes - feel dreadful and I'm eating soooo unhealthily.

Moggmum - I'm 38 next month, so I'm an older mum too. I'm much more knackered this pg than I was 6 years ago with my first!

My LO has let the cat out of the bag - telling my XP, her dad, the news before even my own mum knew! Oh well!

I've gone up two dress sizes already - and am only 10 weeks. But that might be because I'm eating crap!

Haribolicious · 13/10/2009 19:00

Really sorry to hear that a couple more have had to leave this thread....fingers crossed TTC.

memory - my trousers are getting tight but I think it's due to me being so bloated at the mo rather than early pg bump! Still feeling really nauseous but it's not so bad in the morning however come the end of the day, it's back with a vengence!

I have my dating scan booked for 2 Nov but it says that children are not allowed....I was hoping to take DS so that he'd feel as involved as poss but I hear that they're clamping down due to the risk of swine flu?? Has anyone else had this?

alexiscolby · 13/10/2009 19:09

memorylapse - my jeans don't fit me. It could be the loaf of bread i consume a day of course rather than anything more exciting

moggmum - am 37 so no spring chicken. Eating more and bigger up top than last pg. Think looking after DS and DP makes a big diff - didn't have to worry about either last time!

LuckyC · 13/10/2009 20:11

Hi all,

Moggmum Welcome - I am in exactly the same boat as you, 37, 1st time, clueless! Lots of help on this thread though.

Thanks for the tips LotusPalm soya beans sounding good and I too have to (ahem) get things moving again.

Tomorrow I WILL write my CV... No news from work, which I am taking to be bad news, LolaAnn how is the jobhunt going?

Yorky · 13/10/2009 20:13

Haribolicious - how does that make sense? If he's your DS then you're exposed to his bugs regardless! Will your partner be with you? My friend was told no kids so her DH went expecting to sit and wait with the kids and because they behave so nicely there was no problems with the older ones coming for to see.

Glad your booking in appt was so nice ML, mine isn't for a fortnight

Yorky · 13/10/2009 20:14

Meant to say Lotus - Home births are great!

sweetkitty · 13/10/2009 20:33

Evening all not much to report here still feeling rotten

memorylapse - glad your MW appt went well, I had the most lovely MW last time she saw me for most of my antenatal appts, came to the house for some, then actually delivered me at home, she knew how I preferred to labour and exactly what I wanted and left me to get on with it, I think it makes all the difference to have someone you trust.

Jeans still fitting here but have obvious bump even my 3 yo has commented on it! A top or dress that is fitting under the boobs then flares out is good for hiding bumps

brightred - yes Edinburgh Zoo was good apart from the smell lol, DDs loved it, what age is/are yours? Can't remember
right off for an early night.

pigleychez · 13/10/2009 20:38

Welcome to all the newbies, Add yourselves to the list.

Glad to hear about the lovley scans. Cant wait for mine.

Memory- Sounds like your booking in appointment was very sucessful. Hope mine goes just as well next friday!

re tight jeans- Ive been in maternity trousers since 6 weeks! Now 9 weeks.

Been feeling really rough lately and so so tired! Looking after an excitable DD has been hard work. Fell asleep for an hour this afternoon on the bed after putting DD down for a nap.

slipperthief · 13/10/2009 20:48

Poor old penguins, I hope nobody's ever actually thrown up on them.

And I've just had a tip off that eating a whole pack of licorice allsorts does the trick if you're a bit bunged up. Might have to try that myself after last time round.

Hello new mums and sorry it hasn't worked out for others, big hugs from over here.

Hollyoaks · 13/10/2009 20:49

Hi all

Went to the gp after work as I am feeling so rough, its not just the nausea and tiredness, I'm feeling spaced out and dizzy and no matter what I eat or how much sleep I get my energy levels are zero. So, gp checking my thyroid levels (but can't get bloods taken till Monday ) and urine for signs of a uti.

Sounds strange but hope I have something wrong with me so I know I'm not going mad. Feel like I'm whining an awful lot, much more than when I had dd.

My stomachs bloated too but I think thats the constipation.

4 more weeks before my first scan Thats ages away.

Den26 · 13/10/2009 20:58

Memory - glad your booking appointment went well, i arranged mine today - not until 28th but have a scan a week on thursday to keep me going

Lola - know what you mean about worrying re lack of symptoms - love the positive thinking that comes so naturally to us!!!

Thanks for your tips re em...getting things going!!! Shares in Bassets may have just rocketted!!!! Well all be muncing on licorice

Den26 · 13/10/2009 21:00

Forgot to add - i hope my antics before o learned i was pregnant doesn't rub off on the wee one - i was in greece munching on feta cheese and drinking copious amounts of Ouzo!

Den26 · 13/10/2009 21:02

Hollyoaks - sorry to hear your not feeling great. Waiting is a pain in the ass eh? Hope alls fine though

Den26 · 13/10/2009 21:06

Haribolicious · 13/10/2009 21:10

Mmmmm my thoughts exactly Yorky! Will ask midwife when I see her for my booking in appt...otherwise, should I risk it and take DS or get a friend to babysit? DH will be with me but I'd like him to be in there with me not sitting outside with DS!

LolaAnn · 13/10/2009 21:16

LuckyC still no luck on jobs for me, thanks for asking though I have really stepped it up and now spend most of the day applying though, as opposed to the token 1 or 2 hours I was doing before.

HollyOaks I hope you feel better soon and get some relief.

When I had my drs appointment they said I had lots of protein in my urine and would send off for further testing. Never heard anything back??

Haribolicious I think you would have to find the meanest ultrasound tech for them to not let you bring DS in although I read only one person allowed for the scans on my letter...

cupcakefairy · 13/10/2009 22:18

Hi girls, how are you all?

I am still just ridiculously tired; it's debilitating! Bed straight after this...

Lola good luck with the job hunting. My dh has just been given 4 weeks notice of redundancy and is applying too jus horrible waiting so you have my sympathy!

I'm still regular as clockwork in the bowel department thankfully think it's due to the crazy amounts of water I'm drinking.. seem to have a constant raging thirst.

Also, tmi sorry but does anyone else have an inordinate amount of white/clear discharge? I keep having to dash to the loo to knicker check and pray it's not blood Gonna have to wear pantyliners if this carries on! hoping it's normal.

Anyway, must dash...sleep to be had!

MoggMum · 13/10/2009 22:27

Alexiscolby, hobnobfanatic & LuckyC - good to know I'm not the only one! Feel I've got more to offer a child now I'm older & wiser but worried the change in lifestyle will be a bit of a shock to the system!

Sickness is proving difficult to cope with at work - my concentration levels are currently zero!

It's good to read all your threads though - I'm due 17 May but not sure how to add myself to 'the list' (sorry bit new to all this!)

alexiscolby · 13/10/2009 22:40

cupcakefairy - not loads but def more than normal.

moggmum - i just copied and pasted list into post and added myself in. Not sure if thats the correct way but it seemed to work!

Eyes shutting. Night all.

suey2 · 14/10/2009 08:02

morning all!
moggsmum i am 39 and had my first at 37.

Hollyoaks annoying as it may be, i think you're pretty normal. I am nauseus but don't throw up, but am constantly shattered- i was the same in my first PG. Low BP doesn't help. I just give into it: have a lie down at lunchtime, only expect to get 1/2 my normal things done in a day. Yesterday i was so shattered after taking DD to the zoo in the morning that i slept a solid 2 hours at lunch and then was too tired to cook dinner: me and DD shared pizza

ML i'm so glad your booking in went well. My constipation has all but gone now i've upped the water i'm drinking. I drink at least 4 pints a day.

LuckyC · 14/10/2009 09:23

erm, actually I am 35 not 37 what is up with not being able to concentrate?

cupcakefairy that's really bad news about your dh's job - hope something works out. I have been SO stressed about not having work. Which reminds me, lola are you going to disclose that you are pregnant when you apply?? Do you know the rules on this??

Before I knew I was pregnant it was my birthday which for some unknown reason involved TWO massive parties on successive weekends, one until 4.30 in the morning, and enough liquor to float the QE2. Oh God oh God. Poor little bean. I am resolutely not thinking about it.
