Hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 07/10/2009 14:27

Hobnobfanatic - I'm quite keen on bland carbs as well - hence McDs I think.

Does anyone else here live in the South-West? No reason, just curious to see if there's anyone nearby I'm in North/West Devon.

Sweetpeasmum · 07/10/2009 14:36

I drank orange juice by the bucket and constantly craved the freshness of citrus last time and I had a little boy. I have started to go that way again but think it's because I'm dehydrated most of the time.

My husband has pointed out that his mum was the last girl born in his family (all his cousins and nephews (obviously) are boys) and that he doubts we will have a girl this time.

sweetkitty · 07/10/2009 15:31

pigley - I have always went alone to my booking in appointment, we don't have them at the hospital just the GP's surgery, they are really boring just a load of health questions, DP would be mega bored not much point in him being there. I haven't taken any of the others to the booking in just the routine antenatal appts where you are out and in in 5 minutes.

We did all go to the gender scan and probably will do so again, girls loved it

tiggsy · 07/10/2009 15:31

twentiethcentury hi, i'm in south devon, torbay though so not quite up your way. i'm finding i can't eat during the day, then scoff a big dinner and thats all i can manage. Had hyperemis for the first five months with dd and apparently the baby becomes like a parasite so no matter how rough you are they thrive! dd was a nice healthy 8lb6oz a week early so she definitely didn't suffer
have to ring up and book my 12wk scan tomorrow, think i'll be on the phone first thing...can't wait to see my little bean

tiggsy · 07/10/2009 15:33

re booking appt, my dp and dd came along and while i was off (doing my sample) they decided between themselves and the midwife i was having a boy,a girl and a rabbit...

Carikube · 07/10/2009 16:17

Ok does anyone know what this is - I have developed a sharp shooting pain through my left buttock especially when I get up from the floor (where I have to spend a lot of time with dd). I didn't have this when pg with dd and I'm finding it difficult to move but it only came on this afternoon

AnAngelWithin · 07/10/2009 16:20

sciatica maybe carikube?

HeadInAWhirl · 07/10/2009 16:29

I have never craved anything fruity or healthy! With DD it was pot noodles! so did someone say savoury for a girl? So far this time its strawberry laces from the youth club tuck shop that DH runs!
As for people talking about crumpets - mmmmm
Glad you had such good news angelwithin - I love your name

growingbump2 · 07/10/2009 16:46

Hi ladies!

Just back from EPU and not sure how to feel, scan showed heartbeat which was great obviously but bleeding has got heavier since getting home. Also last period was 3 Aug so GP had told me I was due 11th May, scan today showed bean was only 5 mm and due date 1st June making me only 6 weeks! - very confused did pregnancy test 5 weeks ago.

Hope all those with MS are doing better today!

AnAngelWithin · 07/10/2009 17:02

hi growingbump2! you could be me!! I was 16th may, now 29th!! had positive test early on!! scan yesterday showed baby only 7mm, but sll good. maybe you just had a long cycle, thats that MW said to me. i know how you feel though its so confusing!!

growingbump2 · 07/10/2009 17:06

Thanks angel, just read your post and it gives me some reassurance but still mega confused! Normal cycle is 21-28 days so that is throwing me even more but I guess they are the experts! Are you still bleeding, its horrible isn't it, I think you see it and automatically fear the worst. Looks like it will be a very long 9 months for us both at least we will have summer babies I suppose!

AnAngelWithin · 07/10/2009 17:09

yes i am a bit growingbump. my cycles been erratic cos of coming off the depo injection. longest syscle was 32 days, i tested on day 31 got positive result.

TomlinTowers · 07/10/2009 17:47

Hi Angelwithin and Growingbump - congrats on the positive scans, hope everything goes smoothly for you both now!

Cravings - I just want carbs, fruit and milk! Does that signal boy or girl? Current fave cure for nausea = mini cheddars - I have eaten my way through 7 bags since Monday. And now I have read about crumpets I really want some! I also cannot get enough peaches, nectarines, which is bizarre because they are not a fruit I normally buy, and pink lady apples. I guess at least they will counter-balance the mini cheddars fetish! And whoever wanted mcDs - I walked past someone with a bag of mcDs chips yesterday and I could have ripped them out of their hands, they smelled so good....

Carikube - no idea what the pain is, it sounds like sciatic nerve but I don't really know. Are you still suffering?

Pigley - DH came to the booking in appt at our GPs for DS1 but this time he couldn't get time off work so I went on my own. Like SK says, just loads of health questions so no need for DH to be there really. He felt he was letting me down though but it really didn't matter to me at all. I'd rather he save the time for the scan appointments as that is when I feel I need the most support.

memorylapse - how are you today?

Carikube · 07/10/2009 17:50

Tomlin - pain is still there but it has eased a bit. Told DH he would have to do all the lifting etc with dd but he tells me he can't walk properly as he's just twisted an ankle. It will be an interesting evening in the carikube household!

Pigley - DH didn't come to any MW appts with me when I was pg before, he only came to the scans. It will be the same this time round as well though obviously dd will come with me to everything as otherwise I wouldn't know what to do with her.

memorylapse · 07/10/2009 18:22

Tomlin-its amazing how many of us are craving crumpets! Ive virtually lived on them all week..however last night DH went and bought Asda smart price ones..bleuurrghh..they are not nice..thumbs up to Warburtons ones though

I dont feel as sick today so the paranoid button is switched on..silly really..when Im feeling terrible..I wish I wasnt..but if I feel better..I wish I was feeling terrible again

cupcakefairy · 07/10/2009 18:42

Hi girls.

Angel don't worry at all you weren't insensitive and thanks for your sympathy. Am gonna call epu tomorrow and see what they say.

memorylapse you must be going out of your mind really hope the next couple of weeks fly by for you.

Great to hear all the good news from scans

memorylapse · 07/10/2009 19:57

cupcake-Im trying not to think about it..easier said than done.

Pigleychez-When I was expecting dd2, DS2 came to all my appts because he was only 2..he even came with me to the day assesment unit when I was being monitored in late pregnancy..it was a case of having to.

schipo · 07/10/2009 20:14

Hello there,

Just want check in and report I'm still here - although the volume of posts makes it quite a task. It is lovely to read about the happy scans though. I'm hoping to have some of them myself soon. I was surprised to get appointments with midwife and for 12 week scan less than two weeks after GP appt, and it seems like everyone gets a nuchal scan for free in London. Really not sure what I'll do about it if we don't get an all clear though. I had thought that downs was something we would just live and make the best of if necessary, but DH thinks that terminating a downs pregnancy wouldn't be such a bad thing because it would mean we could try again to produce a baby without that problem. I don't know. Anyway, I obviously hope we don't have to face it but the hospital literature makes it hard to ignore. I actually found myself cheered by reading other stats in their leaflets, eg. that scans are more likely to reveal that our bean is actually two beans, and even more likely to show its already gone than it is to have downs - even at my age! At least it helped me to stop focussing on it...

Anyway, I got to 8 weeks on sunday. I still have no sickness but don't think I need to be alarmed about that. I did invest a maternity sleep bra which is great but I'm wondering if I'll ever sleep eight hours solidly again (averaging 4 loo breaks per night atm).

I'm relieved to read that you're all eating carbs. I've just been reading Gowri Motha's book which was recommended to me. It seems to be mostly about avoiding sugar and gluten, but I haven't yet found the bit where she explains why. Has anyone else seen it (ie. Gentle Birth Method)?

Fingers crossed - for us all - especially for memorylapse right now x

tiggsy · 07/10/2009 20:38

carikube does sound like sciatic nerve, can get trapped sometimes and be extremely painful. i get it in left my buttock (!) and it can be made worse if i sit in a particular way. not much can be done as far as i know but pain can be really crippling sometimes

Den26 · 07/10/2009 20:43

Evening all!!

Angel - thats great news about your scan, i'll keep my fingers crossed it continues to go well for you.

It made me laugh reading through the posts and the general lack of action going on (or not going on!) in our households - poor other halves

I went for my scan today - was sooo nervous. All went well got dated as 7 weeks and i could see a heartbeat! I had to beg to get another scan before 12 weeks because they said all looks fine - i had to tell them that all looked fine last time at 7 weeks but all went pear-shaped, i've now got another scan in 2 weeks. Don't think i will relax until 12 week scan but really happy with scan today Cant work out when my due date is now!!!

Everyone around me seems to be pregnant too - 2 girls in my office announced they are 15 & 17 weeks pregnant and another colleague is 12 weeks!!! My managers gonna have a fit Can't help but feel that they are further on than me!!! I said my congratulations and i'll hold onto my secret a little while longer.

Not having much cravings here - i really fancy something but then when get round to it i don't feel like it anymore!

pigleychez · 07/10/2009 22:02

how annoying..... Just wrote a long post and lost it!!

Anyway welcome to the newbies

Glad to hear all the scans are going well. fab news

Memory- Think postitve that bean can live happily next to the clot! Thinking of you.

Thanks for the replys re the appointment. I know its only questions but DH wants to be there too and id rather he was too. Anyway I rang them and they are happy to have DD there too. So alls good

Sorry to hear of all you suffering.
I thankfully missed the morning sickness with DD but have felt much worse this time around. So far not actually been sick but plenty of toilet hugging!

brightredballoon · 07/10/2009 22:39

Hi everyone

Feels like I haven't been on for ages.

Great news from those who have had positive scans, whoever it was who had a date discrepancy I had that with DD as well, they put me 3 weeks behind and at the time I was thinking but that's impossible... but she came out 5 days late and is now a 3.5 yr old so everything was ok!

Memory - sorry you still have cause for concern, however lots of positive vibes coming your way and positive thinking, the bean has been doing great up until now - long may it continue.

We are all fine but very tired as DS seems to be up countless times in the night, think his tickly cough is causing it.

I've been referred to a hospital a little bit further than me (SK its the RAH) I feel if I am going for a VBAC I have the best chance of achieving it there. However, I am 10+2 and havent been booked in yet so I hope they are quick to reply to the referral letter as I am eager to get some notes etc!

For those with children aged 18months plus, have you heard/seen of didicars? My two love them and even DH has a turn of them and finds them great fun. Amazon have some for £24.99 so quite a bargain.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 08/10/2009 08:08

BRB - thanks for the tip re didicars - I've been after one for a while. DD too young but they look good for older ones.

Tiggsy - glad there's someone else from Devon here I grew up just outside of Exeter. My DB lived in Babbacombe for a while so we used to visit Torbay a lot.

Den26 - wow, lots of pg women in your work!

Schipo - I didn't know what I'd do if I had a high result last time but had the nuchal test anyway. Thankfully it was a low result but I still haven't made up my mind tbh.

growingbump2 - congratulations on the scan!

My DD was at my booking-in appointment because it was at the house so she had to be, and DH was at work. Hopefully my mum can babysit during the scan but mainly because the waiting times at the hospital are hideous rather than because I don't want her there IYSWIM?

Sophie2008 · 08/10/2009 09:11

Morning all,
Thought i would just do a little update before i go off to the dentist for a root filling and have my crown put back on. Sooo not looking forward to it, i hate dentists!.

Anyway, still feeling sick with the twins, but i am able to eat more, but worried i am not eating enough. just can't seem to face eating anything.

DD had me up all night on Tuesday as she had the runs, i think it was the tinned pears i gave her as they are in pineapple juice. She is much better now, but was so shattered yeaterday, felt like i was half dead. Much better today as had a really early night.

I am not craving anything yet either. I hope it's not Curly Wurleys this time!!

Hollyoaks · 08/10/2009 09:30

Headinawhirl sorry to hear your not feeling well.

anangelwithin glad your scan went well. I'm the same on the food, feel really sick but starving, make a plate of food and it takes me an hour to eat a few mouthfuls and if it stays too long the smell starts to make me feel sick. I can then never eat it again.

littleonemum how are the seabands working out? I've got them and they seemed to have an effect for the first two days but today they just aren't working and I feel extremely nauseous and dizzy. So much that I've wimped out and rang in sick.

hobnob are the seabands working yet. They leave big indentations in my wrists and get really sore. Don't know if the effect is just phsycological (sp?) but they were working when I first put them on.

den26 congratulations on your scan

growingbump pleased your scan went well, sorry that it hasn't relieved your worrying. My fingers are crossed for you

Sex - yuck
Crumpets - mmm
