Best of luck for those of you with scans today!

I've managed to wake up with the same headache as I had all day yesterday so am not best pleased but at least I don't feel quite so rough. I like Fridays anyway as it means another week gone - 8 weeks today

LolaAnn · 02/10/2009 10:51

Best of luck for scans everyone

I'm finding it hard to differentiate between what is MS and what is the bug I have. I've started waking up in the night to pee, greaaaaaat not. I've been trying to cut down on my refined sugar intake and I think that has been making me feel like crap too, along with making my boobs stop growing

I'm still waiting on mw to call me, I really hope they do it soon im going crazy not knowing my due date or even what month I'm due in!!

tiggsy · 02/10/2009 11:08

hi all. it's so nice to be able to find other mums and mums to be that are only a few weeks gone too lol!! i'm expecting #2 around the 29th may. have a 2 yr old dd at the mo. doing dp's head in at the mo cos i've become obsessed with pushchairs lol

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 02/10/2009 11:37

LolaAnn, do what I did in my last pregnancy, phone up and say that for all you know you could be 16 weeks along as it's been MONTHS since you had a period, and you need a dating scan NOW in case you miss out on vital tests etc. (That was genuine btw not a lie, but I turned out to be only about 10 weeks along) They rushed things along for me and I was seen within the week.

sweetkitty · 02/10/2009 12:22

Well we have ONE little healthy baby

Measuring 8+5 days, am 8+6 days based on standard LMP and 9 weeks on my 27 day cycle which means baby was conceived on day of ovulation.

It was a huge 21mm bless, had arms, legs, a little heartbeat and was sitting on it's yok sac.

Good cure for all the MS, so relieved, even DP had a tear in his eye.

Hope everyone else is having a good day

memorylapse · 02/10/2009 12:54

thats fab news sweetkitty....I nearly cried too when I saw my little bean last week.

Im 9 weeks tomorrow..3/4 of the way through the first 12 weeks..yay! sickness still bad and feel permanently exhausted

suey2 · 02/10/2009 13:00

WONDERFUL sk

I am nervous as all hell. Mine is at 2pm. Don't know why i feel so nervous this time, i guess being a parent already i know just how much is at stake.

LolaAnn · 02/10/2009 13:02

sweetkitty congrats :D
JamesAndTheGiantBanana Thanks for that advice i was thinking of doing that and I definately will on Monday a bit scared of being pushy as I only just got into the nhs system ha ha ha.

sweetkitty · 02/10/2009 13:03

I felt sick before mine and had 4 hours sleep last night.

I did cry when I saw bean, so relieved, although will feel better once I have 13 week scan as well.

LotusPalm · 02/10/2009 13:54

Wonderful news - congrats those with scans!

I've just got my nuchal scan date and its not until the 27th of october - thats forever away! I'll be 13 weeks by then... Why couldn't they have been nice and let me have an earlier one! Oh well, 3 weeks and 5 days to wait!

James - i've not really been taking it any easier than normal. In fact i had to go into the office yesterday (i work a lot from home) so i probably had a harder day than usual (Left home at 7.30, back home by 6.30!). Having said that i did come home and sleep for 2 hours before dinner and then went to bed at 11.30! I also slept right through to about 6am without having to get up and go to the loo, which i normally have to do every 3 hours or so becasue i drink so much water in the afteroonn / evening! I also had a hearty snack of half a bag of dried aprictos before bed which may have helped blood sugar etc...

Oh, i just wish that i knew everything was ok... Its the missed part of the MMC that really worries me. If it was missed, would there be anything to tell me that it had gone wrong apart from turning up at my scan?!

Maudlin day today i think. Even though i feel chirpier than i have in weeks!

memorylapse · 02/10/2009 14:04

well Ive made an appt for a nuchel scan..Im not worried about Downs Syndrome but I beleive the scan and bloods gives you a risk factor for other abnormalities..the scan is on Sunday October 25th..no sign of an appt for the 12 week nhs scan

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 02/10/2009 14:37

Excellent news, sweet kitty! I did laugh at you saying he was "huge" at 21mm! although certainly a bruiser compared to my little 7mm bean!

Lotuspalm, mmc's really aren't that common, for most women who miscarry they have definite signs, pain, bleeding - it really is most likely that you're just having a good couple of days! But I know how worrying this stage is, god knows I've done more fretting in the last couple of weeks than I did throughout my pregnancy with ds when I didn't find out til late. Ignorance is bliss, eh? I have my fingers crossed for you that everything is fine, why don't you call your doctor/midwife and get some reassurance? that's what they're for.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 02/10/2009 14:38

Forgot to say, Suey - how did the scan go? Hope it all went ok x

LotusPalm · 02/10/2009 14:46

Hi James - thanks for the reassurance. I'm a bit loath to call my dr because i think she'll say what you've just said! Also, i called her a couple of weeks ago complaining bitterly about ms and not being able to keep anything down until about 2pm. Now, i'd be calling her to complain that i dont feel sick.

I know that i should do though, but i also think i should wait until monday and see how i feel then. But thats a WHOLE weekend away.

God, i am normally a balenced and rational individual. Who knew i'd become neurotic and worry about everything...

brightredballoon · 02/10/2009 15:02

Fab news SK, so it will be interesting when you have the baby (or will you find out the sex at 20wk scan?) whether it is a girl or boy if you conceived on ovulation day that would point towards a boy (I know you are not phased by the sex but interesting none the less!)
I am convinced this is a boy, if it is a girl I think I will be really surprised. We wont find out until the birth as we didn't with the other two and DH would like the same this time and as I will more than likely go for an elective section I like the idea of finding that bit out on the day since I wont have the "omg I've gone into labour" type excitement.

Anyone else having an elective section or thinking about it? I was thinking the other day if I do go that route then I don't think I will tell anyone the date of it except whoever is looking after the kids and DH of course so then it can still be a bit of a surprise.

What's everyone doing at the wkend? We have a quiet one lined up with just a bday party in the afternoon that DD has been invited too so DH will have some 1-2-1 time with DS which will no doubt mean taking him into town so when he falls asleep DH enjoys a nice coffee in Borders with a book! I never seem to coordinate it like that and am always dashing round the shops when/if he sleeps!

A bit worried about my weight gain of 7lbs already, I am eating far too much but have no will power at all and with DS having been up and down this past week in the night I have craved both sugar and carbs this week and haven't minded giving in!

sweetkitty · 02/10/2009 15:13

brightred - even though I know we conceived day of ovulation am convinced this one is another girl, I have 3 already remember, I think we can only make girls (but we are very good at it ) I already refer to it as she and am only thinking about girls names. If it were a boy we would be delighted but I don't think it will be to be honest, 4 girls will be lovely though and easier in a lot of ways. You live close to me don't you, it was Wishaw General I was at this morning, is that where you are planning to deliver as well? We don't get a 20 week scan but will pay for one at the place in Glasgow as per the other two and will find out the sex then too, have done with all 3 and don't think it spoiled the surprise, I think it helps bond better as you can name them and think of them as she rather than it, can understand why people like the surprise though.

Lotuspalm - chances are all is well and deep down you know that doesn't stop the worry though, as someone else said mmcs are rare.

suey2 · 02/10/2009 15:33

all ok: phew!
Measuring a little smaller than dates at 7mm, but they do a follow up for free in 2 weeks to give a more accurate date. It was slightly scary when she first put the scan on and I couldn't see anything!
I'm now a bit terrified! (but in a good way)

suey2 · 02/10/2009 15:34

oh brb i will be having an elective cs this time. I will probably tell people though 'cos i'm rubbish at keeping a secret!

BuongiornoPrincipessa · 02/10/2009 15:58

LotusPalm I know how you feel. I am usually a logical, rational person too but now feel like I am a hormone-monster and cry at the drop of a hat and think everyone is getting at me when they aren't.

Also as its so early, can't tell anyone why I am acting so bizarrely so they must think I am constantly pre-menstrual (or just plain mad)

Plus my DH is a worrier and so he is not helping to reassure me, rather he makes me more anxious.

And...breathe. Rant over. As you were.

Hope you all have lovely weekends - I am planning to do as little as possible and not think about food at all and make DH do the shopping

April80 · 02/10/2009 16:10

Hi everyone,
Since i did my pg test about 2 weeks ago (think i'm 6 weeks)i've been feeling sick it comes and goes in waves and boobs have felt very odd! But for the last two days felt nothing, just nornal. Where have my pg symtons gone? Just wondering if ayone else has been feeling this way too???

memorylapse · 02/10/2009 16:19

Lotus..the same thing happened to me a couple of weeks back, then I had some bleeding..was convinced it was all over..but bean was fine...I think its not unusual to have a few days where you feel better..I guess the hormones must have surges..then you will probably start feeling sick as a dog again!

LuckyC · 02/10/2009 16:39

go suey2 and sweetkitty

Maaaaaaaaan. 9 weeks tomorrow. Still no sign of dates for either of the scans I have requested. Really really would like the scan now. Want to be able to a. believe this is happening and b. tell everyone.

Have good weekends all! Lots of sleep!

PS MS sufferers everywhere ice-cold grapes! new variation on the crackers-and-marmite diet.

AnAngelWithin · 02/10/2009 17:13

suey and sweetkitty thats fab news!!

hope the rest of you are all keeping well too! I was feeling so hungry this afternoon i felt sick, but then as soon as dinner was put in front of me.....i didn't want it. I give up! DH is hardly saying much about the baby at the moment. I don't think he will til we have tuesday out the way.

Hobnobfanatic · 02/10/2009 17:24

Excellent news about the scans - must be such a relief.

LUckyC - I've been going through a Twiglet stage today. I've eaten LOADS and the roof of my mouth has been scraped to within an inch of my life. Thought I'd mention it, as you've been through a marmite phase... Might tickle your taste buds?

Having eaten so many, I now feel quite yucky. Never want to see another again! Managed to get some choc covered ginger in the health-food shop today - much better than ginger biscuits/ginger tea/ginger beer, which have really made me queasy.

tiggsy · 02/10/2009 17:25

brightredballoon- i've been given the option of c sec as dd was breach. very tempting as we'll know when it'll arrive etc and won't have the worry of damaging my scar
