Hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
suey2 · 02/10/2009 17:48

Yep, tiggsy uterine rupture it definitely a main fear if I were to try a vbac. It's the risk of another 'failure to progress' being 2 weeks over: 2 nights of labour then a emCS

Suey, great news!

I'm still bleeding, getting fed up now, it's not pleasant constantly seeing it and worrying. It could be something relatively harmless like cervical erosion, but equally it could be something more serious like subchorionic hematoma - blood pooling behind the placenta. And we're off on holiday for a week on monday so I won't get to see my doctor now til we get back (wish I'd gone today)

Sorry for moaning but I'm quite worried.

memorylapse · 02/10/2009 21:14

James, I think if it were a subchorionic haemotoma they would have picked it up on the scan, they did with me..you could clearly see the dark area.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 02/10/2009 21:37

Thanks memorylapse, I keep stressing myself out about it all, but I'm sure you're right. God what would I do without you lot!!!

ForcesSweetheart · 02/10/2009 21:47

Gawd this thread moves on so quickly! Welcome to all the newbies, and twins!! How exciting (but it would terrify me!)
James wasn't me with the hairy belly lol, mine's just fat fat fat. After all my weight loss I have a horrid flabby apron that I'll probably have to lift out of the way when I have my scan - how mortifying!

We BD'd the day before ov. We'd been trying for a year with no joy so I went back to work and we decided to put it on hold for 6 mths to get some cash in the bank - then the first month I didn't know the minute I was due to ovulate we had sex for the only time in weeks and BINGO the next day I felt my usual ov cramping and said to DH "u know we timed this perfectly to get pg", he laughed and said "yeh right, after a year of timing it perfectly I don't think so!". No feelings as yet whether it's a boy or girl, will be chuffed whatever it is.

If this preg is anything like last I'll end up scanned to within an inch of my life, I had 5wks, 12wks, 20wks, 28wks, 32wks, 36wks - mostly all checking on baby's size due to my diabetes. HAven't had the very early one this time, first scan will be 11+1.

I'm so relieved to hear your scan went well SK. I've been on pins reading up through the thread waiting to see you post about it. Fab news.

brightred I'm planning for an elective CS too, and feel the same about finding out sex, want something to be a surprise.

My cure for MS is crunching ice-cubes. I'm addicted to them anyway and crunch thru pints of them a night but a pleasant side effect is they stop the MS while I'm crunching.

Congrats on the positive scan suey.

Discussed amnio/cvs with mw at booking and decided we wouldn't have it regardless, as it would make no difference to whether we continued with preg or not so why take the risk.

James I wish there was something I could say to put your mind at rest. It must be really tough seeing it all the time like that. Get plenty of rest and try to stay positive.

brightredballoon · 02/10/2009 22:07

SK very exciting that you will know the sex for definite in around 12 weeks! I would love to find out the sex and have asked DH to agree with both of our other children but both times he wanted to keep it a surprise so I went along with it. I had both children at Wishaw but this time round I am thinking of going to Paisley instead. Trying to get a visit there soon so I can decide. They offer more services there like hypnobirthing (no fee), a midwife led unit, reflexology (no fee) etc and they have a higher VBAC percentage than Wishaw.
We'll get our 20wk scan done at the Nuffield again like we did for the other two

SUEY great news of your scan, how lovely as well that you get to see your baby again in 2 weeks time.

Tiggsy yes I've also been thinking about that advantage of having an elective! For me I could plan for my Mum (lives 400miles away) to be around to look after the children in the day so that DH could work for the first week whilst I would be in hospital (as in working week being 5 days give or take a day or two) meaning his paternity leave could start when I got home. I have also had two quite traumatic births already and as we feel three children is the right number for us I would dearly love to have as positive a birth experience as possible and wonder if I could ever relax and be successful with a VBAC as I feel I would be on tenterhooks regarding the baby's health.

LuckyC Ice cold grapes sound delicious, I need to get some in. My current favourite is macaroni cheese, made myself some last night at 9.30pm as felt really hungry - DH says its too early to be due to the baby just must be me using it as an excuse!

brightredballoon · 02/10/2009 22:14

Forces cross posted with you. Yes I do think if I was more likely to get a natural birth I would be more tempted to find out the sex, especially as we need to plan bedrooms and possible sharing (if its a girl we would probably keep baby in with us then straight into DD's room but if a boy then we would clear the spare room as DS is too young to share yet).

James sorry you are still having bleeding. My friend is now 33 wks pregnant and she also had on/off bleeding and a few scans up until about 19weeks. They put hers down to the growing uterus putting pressure on cells low down in her pelvis area and pushing them down which was causing small bleeds.

TomlinTowers · 02/10/2009 22:27

Suey and SK - congrats on the scans!

Feel like I have been asleep all day today - absolutely exhausted. Also only seem able to eat toast and cereal which is an interesting diet for the bean.

Got all my friends from my old ante natal class coming round tomorrow - 4 women plus me, and 7 kids between us. DH is escaping! Does anyone know if you are expected to go to an NHS ante natal class second time round - I met some really lovely people at both NHS and NCT ante natal classes last time that I am still in touch with regularly, and I was wondering how I would meet people with children the same age as DC2 this time round?

Right off to bed, hopefully get a lie in tomorrow.

Oh, and I almost forgot - was cleaning the house when DH got home, and was so tired....so DH has said we can get a cleaner!!!! Last time I had a cleaner we didn't have children but we did work 14 hour+ days at work. And...I rang my Mum (parents live in same village as us) to ask if she knew anyone, and we now already have a lovely lady lined up to start in the next couple of weeks. I am SO pleased I am also crying (blardy hormones again!)

TomlinTowers · 02/10/2009 22:31

And I did forget to say - James, really sorry you're still bleeding it must be really worrying for you. Maybe some R & R on holiday might help? I suspect that if it was really serious they would have picked it up on the scan, they must have a list of things they look for so if they didn't find anything, hopefully that means good news. Fingers crossed, anyway. Try and have a good holiday and enjoy the time with your family!

LulaBug · 02/10/2009 22:41

Hi everyone, I'm new to Mumsnet, I'm nearly 7 weeks pregnant, due my little bean on 25th May 2010, so just wanted to say hello

Carikube · 03/10/2009 07:51

Tomlin I intend to sign up for the NCT refresher classes, not because I need a refresher (as it wasn't that long since I did the last course) but just so that I can meet other people who will have a dc of the same age as dc2.

ForcesSweetheart · 03/10/2009 08:15

carikube I had every intention of signing up for NCT refresher as although I didn't join NCT til DD was 6mths I met so many great friends through the coffee mornings and other events. Now we've moved to a completely different area about 3 months ago and need to make friends all over again. However the Amesbury branch of the NCT doesn't do refresher classes . The booking person said I could just go along to the regular classes but I really don't want to, wanted to meet people who already have one and are in same boat. May just check out the diary dates in the newsletter and show my face at some of the coffee mornings again.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 03/10/2009 10:09

Suey2 and SK - great news

Re NCT classes - I didn't do any last time but was wondering if I should this time so I could meet some people having babies at the same time.

BRB and tiggsy - I've been thinking about that aspect of an elective cs as well, my mother would be able to plan to help us out for a while and we could use DH's paternity leave a bit more sensibly.

memorylapse · 03/10/2009 12:28

9 weeks today..only 3 more weeks until 12 weeks.
welcome lulabug

I had the strangest dreams last night..I dreamt that I had the baby at home on my own and I had nothing for it, no clothes, nothing..was really weird

ScarlettCrossbones · 03/10/2009 13:00

Hello everyone, can I join May? I'm due with DC3 on the 12th (according to the doc, but I think that's wrong, and I hope it is as it's DS's birthday!) ? I think it's more like May 22nd. Have first scan on 16th Oct, plus discussion of all the horrid tests I can choose to be subjected to this time round, as I'll be days short of a venerable 37 when this one pops! Am planning another HB, but of course, it's early days yet and I'm not being complacent.

Then proper 12-week scan is on 9 Nov.

James I had bleeding with both DS and DD ? with DD it went on for weeks, on and off! Please don't worry, unless it's bright red and painful.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/10/2009 13:14

Hi and thanks Scarlette Crossbones, that's reassuring, did it eventually clear up on it's own? Good luck with your scans and tests!

Welcome also to Lulabug, is it your first?

Hope everyone's doing ok and having a nice weekend. It's going to be a weekend of packing and ironing for me as we're off to the seaside next week, my first holiday in about 10 years, how sad is that? lol

AnAngelWithin · 03/10/2009 13:49

hello all!

good luck packing james, have a great holiday! we have never been on holiday as a family yet!

welcome scarlett and lulabug

memorylapse i am having horrid dreams lately. had one last night that i had cancer and that i had to either get better or get rid of my baby.

tomlintowers, i wish i had a cleaner! well done you!

i am wondering if i will be allowed a homebirth this time?

sweetkitty · 03/10/2009 13:52

memorylapse - snap 9 weeks here too I know only 3 to go

brightred - so are you planning a VBAC then, I thought you were having an elective section, this thread moves so fast I don't know how is doing what? I've never given birth at Wisaw, DD1 was born in London and DD2 and 3 were homebirths. Will probably have another homebirth all going well but there is part for me that is thinking about induction probably a week early, reasons are I am going to be in agony with SPD and the thought of going 2 weeks overdue terrifies me, even one day overdue with SPD is hell. Also my last birth was very quick and I am scared of being in here on my own with the DDs and going into labour and DP being through in Edinburgh, by the time he was back I could have had a baby. Also we have no family to help only SIL who is an hour away so it would be easier to know the exact date and plan childcare etc around it. It's a huge decision though as induction isn't easy so that versus quick birth at home???

It sucks we have to pay for a 20 week scan doesn't it? I am going to write to my MP about it. Last time when I was pregnant with DD3 they said it was lack of sonographers and they were training more up and that next year (2009) they would be offering 2 scans, seems not to have happened though, sad as the rest of the country seems to get two

Sorry just musing

welcome scarlettcrossbones and lulabug

James - hope you manage to have a relaxing holiday, I bled in 2 pregnancies and went on to have a healthy baby.

memorylapse · 03/10/2009 14:51

well Ive decided to go to this meal tonight because I dont think it will be worth the arguments if I dont go..If I have to be sick I will just have to rush to the loo...

AnAngelWithin · 03/10/2009 15:57

good luck memorylapse!

pigleychez · 03/10/2009 16:55

Soo much to catch up on!

SK- Fab news about the scan

Suey2- So glad your scan went well.

April80-I too have days of feeling fine. Just think it could be worse and you feel rough 24/7.

Tomlin- Im sure my friend was told not to bother with NHS classes again unless you had a big age gap. How about visiting some Mother and Baby/toddler clubs.. I have met quite a few friends with babies a similiar age to DD by going to the local NCT groups.(not a member)
Oh on the cleaner!

Welcome to Scarlett and Lulabug

Memory- Hope the meal is ok and you arent too ill.

DH and I had a fab night out last night at a Local comey club. We dont get to go out too often so it was great. DD was very good for her grandparents too. They stayed overnight as they dont live locally and we all enjoyed a lovely meal out together. So a lovely weekend so far

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 03/10/2009 18:28

Welcome Scarlett and Lulabug

Pigley - glad you had a nice night out

pamelat · 03/10/2009 19:39

Hello again all

Have been away all week on a course with work, have to go next week too Its horrible to leave my 20 month DD.

I have been getting quite bad headaches and I have to eat every couple of hours, or else I feel sick/faint but otherwise ok. No where near as poorly as when I was pregnant with DD, so convinced boy.

Most people now know as I look pregnant. I am not my stomach muscles went back to normal after last time

Am a bit annoyed with my doctors surgery. Am now just oer 8 weeks. Originally they said that a GP appointment was optional and that I could see the midwife, either way, at 10 to 12 weeks. Now they say the GP appointment is compulsory but am away until 10 weeks pregnant and feel everything getting unnecessarily delayed.

Know in the wider scheme of things unimportant but would really prefer to see someone before 10 weeks, just for reassurance.

brightredballoon · 03/10/2009 22:03

SK my head is so muddled with whether to attempt a VBAC or not. Have lots of issues from DS's birth (crash section) that are preventing me being convinced I could relax enough for a VBAC.
However I went to see the RAH in Paisley and looked round the Midwife led unit which would be the closest to a homebirth I would ever get, looked and sounded wonderful so I need to give it lots of consideration, just a shame it is an hours drive away. At the RAH you get a CUBS screening (nuchal scan and blood tests), your 12wk scan AND the 20wk scan!!!! Bizarre that at Wishaw we only get the one.

I am so tired I am off to bed, can't keep my eyes open!
Hope everyone is ok

cupcakefairy · 03/10/2009 22:59

Hi ladies. I had my first mw apptmt today. She was very nice but still said no to an early scan so of all you girls getting them. I might phone hospital direct and see what they say...

Been feeling sick as a dog and exhausted today. DH and I walked into town and when we came back I had to sleep for 45mins! Dunno how on earth you girls with other dc are coping!
