Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm with Millie. If it's only 2 days a week and you don't need her to be there while you're on ML then I would pull her out.

It'll be tougher to get things done and relax with her home but it'll be even tougher if she and you get ill.

DS and I are avoiding our usual toddler group this morning as it'll be full of bigger siblings who are off for half term. Not only will it therefore be more boisterous but a small part of me is worried cause those kids might have been in contact with swine flu at their schools.

I've got 7 weeks to go...need to stay well for this last bit...

Milliemuffin · 26/10/2009 10:27

Has anybody else started leaking milk?? I had a tiny bit this morning on my tshirt which at first freaked me a little (I didnt leak at all with DS even when BFing) but have just done some reading and its quite common so feel better now.

sparklycheerymummy · 26/10/2009 10:33

yeh i have been leaking since about 26 weeks..... esp if i get emotional at all!!! My dd has had a mild dose of swine flu and I am ok touch wood..... my doctor was fab and reassured me lots about how i would still be seen etc if i got it! i am just making sure i take my vitamins and drink lots of good freshly squeezed orange juice for the vit c. ALso helping keeping me going ..... but thats another story tmi [blush}

sparklycheerymummy · 26/10/2009 10:34

.... i cant do all these smileys etc!

Mybox · 26/10/2009 11:26

My kids schools have flu & other nasties but they have to go to school so can't just have them at home. Have to hope they'll be ok.

Have everything packed for the birth & after and have most things ready for xmas (still need to get - dh will get 3 of the pressies, I'll get xmas crackers + wrapping paper & some more stocking fillers. Have to get presents for the birth plus some choc for a party at the beginning of december)..... and then will have everything. If kids are off sick I wont be wondering how I'll be ready for xmas.

Also using the nit comb everyday as nits problem at both schools - ahhhh. Just cleared them and have to be on the look out for more. Such a hassle to do.

Feel better now the clocks have changed - more light in the morning.

Scorps · 26/10/2009 11:36

Thankyou very much for my voucher arrgghh very handy! Will save me lots, have P&T to buy, accessories for it, plus bf pillow, bras and some bedding for dd1.

I'm miserable my tooth has broken, dd has been up at 5 am for two days, dh is away and I'm just exhausted really. Ds1 is here too, dh has ds2. Just pissed off and unhappy.

re swine flu, dd is still going to nursery a day a week, though there are no current outbreaks here.

I leaked milk alot in my first 2 Pregs, but not third or this one, though I know it's there iyswim, my boobs and nipples hv got bigger. Just wear some pads, I like tommee tippee ones.

sparklycheerymummy · 26/10/2009 11:42

my ttoth broke the other week an ou cant have metal fillings when pregnant so i got a nice white one free on the nhs.... thanks very much!! I am miserable too scorps..... my dd is away with ehr friend for 4 nights and i am missing her so so much.... havent even got dressed yet. BUG HUGS TO YOU...... started packing hospital bags as have less than 5 weeks to go and so far have breast pads, paper knickers, maternity pads, chocolate, cereal bars and sweets in there..... will that be enough??????

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 26/10/2009 13:54

Sparkly - I know you've already been through it and maybe it was just me but having had a CS I now HATE paper knickers - it was like sandpaper against the sore wound. I have got my very cheap (local market) passion killer granny pants packed again this time. I lived in them for a couple of weeks after DS. Paper knickers are designed by the devil and I threw my packet away after trying on one pair for about one minute!

I like your minimalist packing list though! I've got FAR too much in my bag already.

x

Claire236 · 26/10/2009 14:04

I have to say I'm not too worried about swine flu. I'm lucky that where I am they're testing so we know how few suspected swine flu cases are really swine flu. I won't be having the vaccination if offered it as the risks from that seem greater than the risks from swine flu.

I leaked milk when I was in hospital at 27 weeks but it was only the day after I'd had quite strong contractions so I don't know if it was anything to do with that as it hasn't happened since.

Stigaloid · 26/10/2009 14:08

I spoke to the GP who recommended taking the new jab as the risks to not having it were greater than the risks of having it. Am so confused as to what to do

Moosy · 26/10/2009 14:56

I'm still 50/50 about the SF jab, I'm kind of hoping that I won't get the letter about it until DD3's born so I don't have to make the decision!

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 26/10/2009 15:56

That's how I feel too Moosy, I just can't decide. I'm sure none of us want to be guinea pigs for an untested vaccine, but what about the dangers if we get it. It's horrible to have to think about it so I'm burying my head in the sand [ostrich emoticon]

jumblies · 26/10/2009 18:15

Hi guys,

Thanks so much for the voucher arrgghh just like scorps I need to buy my phil and teds and accessories so you have helped me save lots

scorps sorry you are miserable, my DD is an early riser but she has been getting up at 5/5.30 am for months now, I thought the darker nights would cure it but unfortunately not. My dh normally gets up with her to let me sleep but when he goes away on business I am knackered! Oh, don't know if you are aware but the black phil and teds is reduced online at mothercare and combined with the voucher arggh gave us it brings it down even further - I'm not sure if the black one is reduced instore though

On the vaccine front, I phoned my surgery and they are getting the vaccine in in a couple of weeks. I will probably have it if they have the option of celvapan but not sure if they only give the pandemrix version.

ArghhhhmazingBouncingSpider · 26/10/2009 18:45

Bloody hell yeah ive just read the back of one of the vouchers and you can use them on already reduced products!! Bargains!
Im glad you all seemed to receive the vouchers I was a bit worried they might not get there with the postal strike.
Scorps I understand how you feel, just last week DH was having to work away, DS was being ratty and I felt like complete shit. Hope you feel better soon.

Ive managed to buy 2 of DS christmas presents so feel like im getting somewhere now!

Catz · 26/10/2009 21:39

Thanks for the replies re the nursery and swine flu. I went to get her early today. The nursery staff said they'd been surprised by the diagnosis (it was an over phone not swab one) as the child hadn't had any real symptoms in nursery so I'm hoping that there isn't any real risk. I think the general idea of avoiding exposing children to it if there's no need (obviously school is different) is probably right. I'm just so looking forward to my Mondays and Tuesdays for the next few weeks!

No idea what to do about the vaccine, the more I read the more uncertain I am. Also hoping that it's too late by the time they get round to inviting me.

Am impressed with the Christmas presents. Haven't bought a single one yet! Is anyone buying a present for their older child from the baby? Thinking of getting a baby boy doll for DD and getting a couple of accessories as Christmas presents. Any good ones for a 2/2.5 yr old?

longhairedchiefofstaff · 26/10/2009 21:40

Good evening ladies! I'm afraid I've been lurking in the shadows of this board for a while. Am 32 weeks tomorrow EDD 22 December. I just wanted to say a little something about swine flu. A close friend of mine who is due on Wednesday contracted SF from a patient whilst she was pregnant; she is a GP. She has had no problems with her pregnancy since then. She just had 3 weeks of bed rest with the usual array of medication to control the symptoms. With regards the vaccine, I'm with most of you in thinking that there is no long-term evidence on the effects of the vaccine to the unborn child so am approaching it with caution. Working in the health service I'll be offered it soon. I think I've decided not to have it though as I just couldn't bear to regret the decision later. Thanks for letting me crash your board!! :-)

TheBlairSnitchProject · 27/10/2009 07:50

Arghh, everything crashed yesterday so DH didn't get a lunch hour and was home late too - He'll be over today to pick up the windmill...

I've bought a few presents and even some wrapping paper! Plus a present for DS from DD. Want to get it all done before we go to Center Parcs at the end of November so I can chill out and nest when we get back...

sparklycheerymummy · 27/10/2009 09:45

YES paper knickers were designed by the devil and have some big pants my dps mum keeps buying me tucked in there in case of a section..... i just bled really bad with my dd and went through lots of them!!!!! My dp looks like he is developing symptoms that could be swine flu but he is one of the few men who never moan and just get on with it so i am not sure how bad he really is!! I have just about sorted christmas by kicking dds father into touch and instead of letting him buy her loads of plastic crap she doesnt want i have told him what is on her santa list and he has picked a few items.... so santa can go to daddys house aswell this year!!She is going to get spoilt this year with the new arrival even if i try not to. Baby will get token gestures from santa to keep dd happy. was even thinking of writing christmas cards but dont know what we are having and cant put bump and it doesnt feel right anyway so cards may be last minute this year!!!!!

theGreatPumpkin · 27/10/2009 13:14

Hi all please can I join you? Baby number 2 due to appear on the 14th December, already have 3yr old DS.

Claire236 · 27/10/2009 15:49

ds1 has chosen what he wants to buy baby for Christmas & I'm buying ds1 a present from the baby. Having issues trying to decide what to get 4 year old niece as there seems to be an awful lot of tastless crap out there aimed at her age. Any suggestions?

anniebigpants · 27/10/2009 20:40

Evening ladies. Arrggh Thank you so uch for vouchers, i got them on Saturday, will come in very handy.

Welcome to new ladies.

Im trying desperately to get organised, nursery is now painted, just have to put up wardrobes and chest of drawers (when they arrive), so i can get baby clothes washed, dried , ironed and put away. Still getting stuff for hospital bag, ive bought some very fetching granny-style pants, wore similar after c-section last time and they were sooo comfy.

Have bought couple of Xmas pressies, will aim to have finished by end November. Still need to buy pressie for DS from baby.

damnitdamnit · 28/10/2009 13:47

hi all, not been about for a bit. internet keeps going down and laptop is rubbish. finally finished for my maternity leave last week and am now getting organised (including reintroducing myself to mumsnet.)

anniebigpants, i too bought some granny stle pants yesterday for hospital bag, put them on today they are soooo comfy.

off to buy pressie for dd later today from baby, and i have put together loads of activities and wrap ups i can get out on a daily basis when needed. just waiting on a few bits from amazon.

babys room now sorted and hospital bag underway. Just need to get christmas all sorted now if my family dont start telling me what people might want they are all getting nothing

TheBlairSnitchProject · 28/10/2009 14:06

Got my 31 week appointment later today. Not sure whether to mention that I've been feeling a bit down or not. It could just be tiredness after all.

I'm feeling huge, uncomfortable and unable to move...

Claire236 · 28/10/2009 16:19

Blairsnitch - sorry you're feeling down. I've been feeling the same with being stuck in the house & now that I'm feeling massive & uncomfortable it's even worse. We're on the final countdown now though.

I've got to buy some big pants too. The last thing needed for my hospital bag.

All Christmas presents ordered on internet & cards bought so feeling quite organised now.

Milliemuffin · 28/10/2009 16:43

Are your other halves all accepting of how close we're getting now to our due dates or are some still pretending its ages away? I desparately wanna get everything ready by 36wks which will be the end of nov but DP isn't fussed and sometimes I think is he being like that for my sake or does he just not appreciate how difficult its going to be with a 2yo? Does this all make sense? Just wish he'd seem a bit more keen in getting things done. He is working really hard at work so I know it's difficult, maybe I'm asking too much, I'll shut up now.
