ooooh - chips might be nice - and that is sort of traditional isn't it - in a partly decorated room sitting on dustsheets eating chips still in paper!

Ursi we are the same day! Mine was put back from Nov 2nd. Halloween babies!

Must get my head out of the sand- nothing is ready, I have no plans for ds when I go into labour, have no idea where to give birth, no birth plan (not that it counted for a lot last time but hey), no hospital bag, no nursery furniture, moses basket in the loft, no idea where baby monitor is, no gym ball, no raspberry leaf.... hmmm.

Tabby was so sorry to hear of you having to face such a dreadful thing.

Katster was it you who talked about visitors? I had my mum and sister around after the birth for a couple of days but that was it (they stayed in a b and b close by) It was OK but not mega helpful: eg mum helped put the pram together which was fab, but also had plenty of unwanted - though well meant- advice about feeding, sleeping etc. I reckon that visitors are a bit of a pain in the first couple of weeks unless:
a) they don't stay long
b) only offer advice if asked,
c) make the tea
d) do the washing up, and
e) bring biscuits and casseroles round.
Maybe you could use these as preconditions for any visitors?

I have to go into work either this week or next to discuss my grievance re bullying and options for getting out of my contract. Bit of a stress, could need some hand holding!

Aw, broodzilla, love the way you put it 'all leave together and put the lights out'. Pg hormones making me go all mushy and soppy at the thought of some babies being here and the rest of us, hanging on with excitement...or dread!

So I'd be happy for all you new mummies to stay here but I understand some people not agreeing - and you guys wanting to go off and goss about stuff. But you must promise to pop back and share with us too - or maybe it should be us popping back and forth - you'll have way more to do! Hmm, all this confidently predicting I'll be right to the end, she'll probably come early and shock me now!

Anyway, I'm due on a Monday so makes it easy for me to update every week

Just to be awkward I'm omitting an edd because I went 2wks over last time and I don't want to get into a countdown (only 5% arrive on EDD). Hope no one minds.

Leaving together and turning the lights out made me cry (not hard at mo). Also reminded me of last episode of Only Fools and Horses (random - hmm)

Tabby so sorry to hear your news. Look after yourself physically and give yourself some space to grieve when you can. Dp may feel a lot worse before things get better but you will all find a way through in the end x

I went to see a solicitor today. We have our next hearing on 14th. I'm finding it difficult to talk about but thank you all for your support and hand holding.

Easyeggs I'll be thinking of you on the first.

Laugs did you get the contract? You and Erika and any one else might be interested in this. I spent the day at BBC today. They have a new scheme www.bbc.co.uk/mystory/, it's a competition with five book deals at the end for autobiographical stories.

BBL hope ds is on the mend. I picked up my tummy bug in Brum so perhaps it is sweeping up the country via Hereford?

Laugs · 21/09/2009 18:03

How's DS today becky?

I think it's a really nice idea to all stay together. I'm not sure if it will work if we just have the post-natal thread for birth stories, as it's a natural way to start conversation - but let's just play it by ear and none of us get offended if everyone ends up in another place! (After all our hormones will be in full pelt by that point ) We'll all find each other eventually on the November post-natal thread, whether we give birth in October or December.

Had my anti D injection today and felt a bit woozy afterwards, though I had been sick this morning and didn't eat again until after the injection at 3pm, so that was probably a bit stupid of me. I still have not had any clarification on the fact that anti D was showing up in my blood all those months ago. I asked them to check again today and it was in my most recent blood test at 28 weeks, which they seemed quite surprised by as I'd had the first injection quite early on, but they said it's so unlikely to be anything to worry about and I should still have another anti D injection anyway.

maman: welcome! So sorry to hear you're on bed rest, that must be very frustrating, especially as it sounds like you have another child to look after too. I hope you haven't got too long to wait until the 37 week mark.

Laugs · 21/09/2009 18:13

Thanks for thinking of me ninjacat. I'll have a look at that link, though sadly(?) my autobiography would not be the most interesting of stories. To paraphrase katster's midwife, I am boringly normal
The interview I had wasn't for a contract, it was me interviewing someone for a feature. A bigwig in the art world, but he'd obviously been interviewed so many times before he just pulled a load of stock answers on me. It's much more interesting speaking to normal people to be honest. (Hey, maybe my autobiography would be a hit after all )
I'm sorry to hear that all the business with the solicitor is still not over. It is shitty timing when you should be enjoying (or at least focusing on) the end of your pregnancy. It makes me very cross that your ex could be putting you through this at this time.

ErikaMaye · 21/09/2009 18:24

Heya all - very briefly popping in, sorry haven't got time to reply to everyone

Scan went fantastically - estimated weight as 4.6lbs for far, all messurements litterally perfect; straight down the middle of the "normal" scale. My little man waved at me and stuck his tounge out Still head down, which is good, he's been wiggling so much I was worried he'd turned over again! Very happy.

Had a panic attack at the hopsital unfortunately Still feeling a bit shakey now although it was hours ago. Just glad DP was there to take care of me.

Therapist has offered to write to the credit company to get them to lay off a bit and its dragging me down, so that's good news too.

Hope you're all having a good day

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 21/09/2009 19:25

I have a UTI, which explains a lot actually - been putting much of the symptoms down to baby getting bigger, third trimester - such as sore back, cannot get comfy at night, really uncomfortable walking, especially down below, feeling like baby is kicking me a lot in the bladder, waking to go to the loo, loss of appetite I put down to indigestion.

GP said that this would cause vomitting and acid indigestion, and that I also have a fever! No wonder I felt like shit!

Have some antibiotics, but cannot take them til I give a sample for the hospital first thing in the morning - urine sample said UTI, symptoms say the same but gp wants hospital confirmation for some reason. But said to take the anitbiotics tomorrow after giving the sample anyway as she is pretty certain.

Another shit night I shall expect then, but at least tomorrow I can get it sorted.

ursigurke · 21/09/2009 19:37

Pavlov, sorry to hear about your UTI, especially on such an important day. But, maybe a cup of herbal tea and candel light can be romantic too? At least I hope you can get some sleep tonight and those antibiotics you can start taking from tomorrow on, will certainly sort everything out really quickly.

I agree with kyte (I think), starting another thread for the birth stories might be a good idea so everybody can choose what she wants to hear. And we can still chat on this one until everybody is ready to move over. But it won't matter, when which month we are actually giving birth

helips · 21/09/2009 19:37

Hi maman never too late to join! welcome along, sorry to hear you've been having a difficult pregnancy, hopefully you will have a nice easy birth to compensate!

Happy anniversary pavlov fish and chips and a glass of vino sounds like the perfect way to celebrate to me! Hope you feel better soon, it's probably the stress of the decorating but you should see your midwife just in case.

I agree we should probably have a postnatal thread just so those that pop can not only talk about the birth freely but also the bits that come after without scaring those still pregnant. Not to worry you first timers, most births are straightforward and afterwards you have the whole babymoon thing going on but if someone does have a bad experience they may feel put of talking about it so as not to scare.

I need to add myself to the list but forgotten how to copy and paste on an applemac, anyone enlighten me? Also, gotta dash to cook the dinner and haven't caught up on all posts so massive apologies if I've missed anything vital!

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/09/2009 19:43

Weston that would be great if we were both there at the same time We'll have to think of a secret code word to use to see if the other is there, say, saying a sentence with the word aardvaark in it or something! So if you're not there the other mums will just think I'm a bit eccentric but if you are there you'll know it is me!

Thanks everyone for asking after DS1. He's much better today. I kept him off school but really he would have been fine but sometimes it is best to be safe than story with stomach- related things. He's had a fun day at home without DS2 although he had to come to school and back with me to take DS2 to nursery and we saw the head and I was worried he'd say 'oooh he should be in class!!!' or something stern like that.

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/09/2009 19:44

PS Happy Anniversay Pavlov. Fish and chips and vino is lovely We did a similar thing.

Better go take everyone to bed now...

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 21/09/2009 19:45

bloody hell, it all makes sense now! I just looked up UTI, and I have all the symptoms! right down to smelly pee/discharge. It looks as though I have a kidney infection rather than urinary tract in fact - gp called it 'water infection' and put it down as 'uti' on hospital paperwork, but the symptoms are in particular kidney infection - for example she said my back was tender, by ribs and it hurts there a lot, the vomitting the chills and fever.

usi * helips had fish and chips, or rather DH did and I had chips n gravy, no vino, we had cranberry juice - right off to spend time with DH.

x
