Hi Everyone
Wow, it's such a busy thread! Today is my first day at home alone after finishing work on Friday to take my annual leave. DD doesn't go to nursery on Mondays so am tired today from tearing round after a toddler all day yesterday, so treating myself to some time with my feet up with my laptop. I'm working through 8 pages of posts, so apologies if some responses sound a little out of date!
Laugs I work in Wansbeck Hospital in the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) but do cover the Freeman if my colleague who works there is off. What does your DH do there? Where will you be having your baby? I had my DD at the RVI but having this one at Wansbeck. How did the yoga class go at Dance City? I'm itching to do something like that so if you recommend it, I might try and go - we could try and meet up, if you like?
beepbeep I know what you mean about reserve names - we thought of Luke if DD had been a boy and can't bring ourselves to use it this time round. We're toying with Isaac at the moment. DD's name is Isabella (everyone calls her Izzy) so just hoping it doesn't sound daft next to her name, IYSWIM.
I'd recommend anyone who's been given estimates about baby size to take them with a pinch of salt - I was told that DD was going to be "well over 10lb", as her leg measurements both from the midwife feeling about and a scan when I was being induced were really big. She eventually arrived weighing 7lb 12oz although her ridiculously long legs made her look like a scrawny rubber chicken! I think she was in newborn clothes for a couple of weeks then into 0-3 months as her legs were so long but they hung off the rest of her.
As for raspberry leaf tea, I drank it religiously throughout the day from 37 weeks but just had it in teabag form. DD was induced at 42 weeks, so it didn't help at all. One of my colleagues said that the loose leaves are the most effective (and as a mother of 6, all of whom were born by 39 weeks, she seems to have a good track record). To combat the taste, she suggested making it up as usual but then adding honey and chilling it in the fridge before adding bits of fresh fruit and pretending it was a cocktail!
Tabby I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I know it's so hard when you have to be the one to keep things together. I think all you can do for DH is listen to him if he wants to talk (which may not be immediately) or rant/cry and be his shoulder to cry on, as others here have said we'll be virtually for you xx
Mummy2be What about getting one of those teeny tiny vaseline tins that Superdrug and Boots always seem to have at their counters? I found that the dry air in hospital made my lips unconfortably dry when I was having DD, so I've already bought myself a tiny tin. Also, get plenty of change for parking for when DH/DP visits.
Wook Consider your hand well and truly held - what a horrible thing to have to deal with when you're pregnant. Having been bullied when I returned to work after having DD (was moved jobs since they couldn't accommodate my P/T working needs), I sympathise completely. I wasn't strong enough to take out a grievance, I got a new job so avoided it that way but I wish I had in hindsight... good luck x

I've added myself to the list but will be finding out next Thursday when I'll be booked in for cs, so I'll have to change it later.
I think I've finally updated myself with all that's going on. I'm off to find the most tasteless thing in the cupboard/fridge in my continuing low-fat diet (stupid gallbladder grr!) although after reading the last 8 pages, all I can think about is chips and doughnuts!!
