Beepbeep grrr at your MIL's comments. I'm not sure how I manage to work from home but like many people, you included, I have to work and as I charge per hour I have to discipline myself. My MIL and other family members seem to think my work is a hobby or just for 'pocket money' or something. The MIL always asks DH when we go there 'how is work? are you busy?' etc and never me like his work is more important becuase he is full-time and goes to an office every day. Anyway, we plod on...

I have painful hips too at night. I don't know about the rest of you but my sleep is terrible at the moment Ten weeks to go...

BeckyBendyLegs · 07/09/2009 21:45

PS Katster I think Year 1 must be lovely to teach (well DS1 is Year 1 this year starting tomorrow ). His teacher is a newbie called Miss Edwards and she looks so young (I'm getting old more like). She has a gitar apparently (as DS told me at the end of last term)!

EasyEggs · 07/09/2009 22:21

Oooh we've moved!!

Brood glad you're feeling much happier, ignore MIL and everything she says. Just reply with a nod and a sweet smile. Any news on when she's leaving

Sorry can't remember now who is having trouble at night? My shoulders, hips and back are in agony from laying on my side. I wake up constantly in the night and change sides but it makes no difference at all. Don't know what I can do so I really sympathise with you on this one.

Today I have actually left the house! It's been a while lol. Kids went back to school today and I then took dd and ds to toddlers in the morning, cafe for lunch then a messy play thing in the afternoon before the treck home. Unfortunately I had to spend all day bending down picking one or the other of the lo's up and have managed to do something to my back and pulled a muscle in my tummy. I could barely walk home and it hurts so much. Not sure how I am going to manage the next 10wks like this Then again I have no idea how I'm going to manage when she is here either

Ninjacat · 07/09/2009 22:23

Hello all.
I have just escaped delivery suite again. Dp decided that after a month of constant pain I had to get it sorted. Dr sent me to delivery suite where I spent the next 6hrs (a woman came in and had her baby in the time I was there).
Any way still no diagnosis as such but have abs and a ref to consultant.
They offered to admit me for obs but I thought I'd be better off at home (hence the escape)
Hope everyone is well. I will try and catch up on your posts now.

ErikaMaye · 07/09/2009 22:44

I love the fact we?re on page two already We talk WAY too much!!

Scarlotti glad you?re feeling better. I treated myself to a Starbucks Caramel Cream, plus a slice of blueberry cheesecake and suddenly the world is a much brighter place!!

Claired that?s fab Though can totally understand how you?re feeling. I?m sure the reason your boss had an issue with it was because they know you?re hardworking, not just because you?re pregnant. Chin up, chuck And thank you for the tip with the duvet, think I forgot to say. Might give it a shot!

Kyte could you come do my Christening?? We need to find a very relaxed priest after the Godparents we?ve chosen for Bryn

Raggie yey for new house!!! I?m having almost exactly the same problem. Except when I get comfy after I?ve turned, THAT?S when I tend to realise I need a wee. Sods Law, isn?t it??

Beepbeep sorry to hear you won?t get your relaxing day after all ? hope you find time for a nice long soak in the bath at least!

Katster hope your problems with Amazon get sorted ? do complain about it, they?re pretty hot on complaints.

Helips glad I could be of some use! I told my mum what you said about your DS?s reaction today (really sorry to hear about it ) and she said to pass on to you that it does get better, for both parent and child, very quickly. Its just because its all new. She did recommend leaving as soon as possible once you?re there ? if you?re not there, he will get used to it quickly, and you won?t be as distressed as you won?t hear him cry if he does. Hugs. X

Fruit hope it goes well tomorrow.

Trikken glad it went reasonably well at least And pleased to hear about the cot, too. I really must get one

Becky hope you can find a way to get comfy soon ? would really recommend one of these glorious pillows, am leaning against it at the moment and its fab.

Easyeggs glad you managed to get out of the house, though sorry to hear about your back Hope it feels better soon.

Ninja That sounds horrible. Really hope you feel better soon and that the referral helps when it goes through.

The Wii Fit told me I am ten stone and three quarters ? I nearly cried. Though from my last go on it, that averages out as about 2lb weight gain per two weeks, I think? Mum says that?s about normal. Ladies? Is she right, or is she just trying to stop me from crying?!? Though I will say my balance was perfectly in the centre, which I?m chuffed about, as never thought I?d see that for a while!!

So DP and I have been together seven months today... Struck me when I was out with my friend just how rediculous it is. But as much as he drives me up the bloody wall sometimes (he can't help it, he's a man! ) he really is a good guy, takes care of me, makes me laugh, and understands me probably better than anyone ever has. We've been friends for so long, too, so in that sense there was no "dark secrets" we had to hide from each other before we got together, as they were all out in the open already! Now I sound like I'm justifying our relationship, and it upsets me that I feel I have to. Ugh. I hate judgemental people

Anyway, sorry. Some woman was a right cow earlier and spoilt my evening.

Hope you're all feeling good.

mum27 · 08/09/2009 05:58

Hi everyone, love the new thread title, just wish it didn't feel quite like I WAS ready to pop . Oh helips and raggie the sore hips and shoulders are keeping me awake most of the night too as I have to wake up to heave the bulk over to the other side, then it's either carpel tunnel pins and needles after 5 mins or time to go for a toilet stop . It's starting to make me really tired which isn't improving the mood and then lets throw in a 2 year old tantrum and a 13 year old hissy fit and I'm fit to kill . Please someone remind me that it gwts better after the baby...not the selfishness of the 13 year old, they don't grow out of it til they're about 30!!! Sorry for the rant, definitely going to try the duvet under the sheet tonight, I think I definitely need more sleep .

scarlotti · 08/09/2009 08:12

Morning all

Gosh, what a difference a night's sleep makes Not sure why last night was so successful, maybe because I was just so tired? Changed the thickness of the pillow between my knees to a slightly thinner one too so maybe that helped.

Hope others struggling managed an ok night, I do sympathise.

Erika only 10st9?!?! Gosh, I was only 6lb lighter when I started so am way above you now!! And am an inch smaller than you too

Ninja hope you're feeling ok and hope the consultant helps. At least you'll know the delivery suite well!

helips agree with Erika's Mum. Hard though it is, it's really best for everyone to just say a bright and chirpy goodbye then leave. He will be fine 5 or 10 mins after you leave, and the staff will be able to deal with it better if they know you're not in earshot. Take heart in that they have a great time when they are there and it does get easier I promise.

easyeggs hooray for school starting

Going to put up the hammock today and try and make the most of my rested night. The spare room where baby will go still needs some sorting and I have a heap of craft stuff that needs something doing with it - another previous phase that never really came to much Might try and eBay some of it as I have far too much stuff. Every year I have visions of making my xmas cards - maybe this year will be the one?!

BeckyBendyLegs · 08/09/2009 08:19

Morning all. I really ought to set the alarm clock on the first day back at school...eating my breakfast quickly now before the mad rush to school starts when I say 'RIGHT EVERYONE, COAT AND SHOES ON NOW!!!!' Oh lazy days are over! DS1 and DS2 are quite excited though after the long break, which is nice.

I feel like I have a huge bump - 301/2 weeks. I have no idea what I weigh. Too scared to weigh myself. I never have each time I have been pregnant. I just like to pretend I still weigh the same as before!

Trikken · 08/09/2009 08:29

BBL I am the same, but then I try not to weigh myself when Im not pregnant either. Thats probably due to having super-skinny sisters and knowing that I will never weigh what they do even with dieting and lots of excercise, but to be fair they are a completely different shape than me and both are a lot shorter.

It is our birthday tomorrow (we are triplets)but to be honest not really looking forward to it.

must go for now, am taking ds to doctors about his sore bum. will be on again later no doubt!

scarlotti · 08/09/2009 08:36

Trikken hope your ds is ok, poor lad

Ninjacat · 08/09/2009 08:39

Scarlotti I can just see you there, early hours feeds by the light of the christmas tree, baby latched on, Scissors, glue and glitter in hand...

Laugs Do they know you by name at the library yet? Hope you get IT problems sorted soon.

Easyeggs how are things with you and dp now? Eased I hope. And Turtle was it you also that was having a tough time? Hope all is getting a bit more settled.

Brood You must have the patience of a saint. To have ones mother in law to stay indefinitely is verging on masachism.

Claired It seems a bit cruel to undermine you like that. Feel quite cross for you

DP woke at 4am with violent V&D. Poor thing is very unwell and due to travel to Isle of White tomorrow. Hope ds doesn't come down with it.

Ninjacat · 08/09/2009 08:44

Trikken gosh triplets. That must have been a shock for your parents.
I don't suppose there's any chance of you ever having a quiet birthday then.
Hope your boy is on the mend soon.

Tabbykat · 08/09/2009 09:03

Morning! Hope all well? not been on for ages as we were on an epic road trip round the UK to the Lake District and then up to the very north of Scotland to visit family. Nice to see them but v tiring, especially with DD in the car. She was pretty good, although all I can say is thank goodness DH had the foresight to download endless episodes of Fifi onto the iphone for those long hours in the car!

Welcome to all the newbies - gosh we're getting to be quite a large bunch now!

Hipe you enjoyed Wales BBL - and can fully sympathise with the work thing. Everyone is alway v worries about DH working such long hours in the office but clearly I just fanny about at home looking after 5 kids for a bit of pocket money - grrr!

Erika - that weight gain sounds fine. Have not weighed self for ages - but feel the size of a hippo. This bump is very low-slung and all the weight is at the bottom. Anyone know if this is because the placenta is low? 2 more weeks until we find out if it has moved out of the way. Really hope so as am v squeamish about the thought of a CS.Obviously will do it if tis better for me and baby but makes me feel a bit - that's green, not envious!!

So, apart from Erika who is v organised, anyone else got their names sorted yet?

At the moment we're considering Esme and Daisy. Must say I'm kind of leaning towards Esme, but as DD1 is Evie, am worried they are too similar and it's a bit "cutesy" to have them both, sort of like having a Polly and a Holly, if you see what I mean! Anyway, have rambled on enough, and must go and do some work! xx

lemontop · 08/09/2009 09:34

hi everyone

Nice new thread! Haven't been on for a few days. Sorry to hear those are suffering at night. I keep waking up in agony with pain in my wrists and hands. Think it's carpal tunnel. Don't think there's anything that can be done though.

On a positive note following a GI diet seems to have got my blood sugar under control and I'm getting used to testing 6 times a day although my fingers are suffering!. I've lost 7lb in less than two weeks so gestational diabetes may turn out to be a good thing after all! Got diabetes clinic on Thurs and a growth scan next Fri so keeping fingers crossed all is ok.

12 working days left. Yay!

skorpion · 08/09/2009 09:35

Hi tabby - sounds like a great trip! We have two names in the running but will wait to meet her to see which one suits her. We're keeping the names secret, though. We've told everybody that we're having a girl so want to keep just that one thing quiet until she's here.
I hope your scan will show that the placenta is out of the way. I think this happens in majority of cases, doesn't it? I'll keep'em crossed for you.

trikken - blimey, triplets! I don't know anybody personally who has a twin or more in the set. Was it fun growing up? Are you really close now?

ninja - hope your DP is on the mend, sound horrible.

scarlotti - good to see you're in a much better mood. How did the apology go?

skorpion · 08/09/2009 09:39

lemontop - x posted. That's great news! Good to see things are under control with GD and you're not finding it too difficult. GI diet is supposed to be a diet that you can keep for life as it's apparently very good for you. Good luck at the scan. And how is married life?

LissyGlitter · 08/09/2009 10:00

Random people in the street keep telling me I must be about due-nope, ten weeks to go!

BeckyBendyLegs · 08/09/2009 10:30

Hello all! I am fannying about at home at the moment (lol Tabbycat)! I miss the DSs so much. It's nice as well to be home alone but I miss them.

Names? Not even thought about it yet. This baby is going to be named after the delivering midwife at this rate (boy or girl).

Laugs · 08/09/2009 11:01

helips I hope you had a better time this morning. It's so hard when they start nursery. Last week I saw someone drop off their screaming child for the first time, but by the time the dad had got into the car, I heard the little girl had stopped crying. I wanted to run after him and say 'it's ok, she's not crying any more!'. I remember the first day, going home to such a quiet house that felt really weird and empty. That feeling doesn't last forever either - now I positively love that little bit of peace!

ninja The librarians don't know me by name, but they know poor DD, who gets dragged in there with me. Yesterday I had to go on the library computers 3 times, trying to maintain an email conversation with an editor! I do love libraries though, so it could be worse.
How are you feeling today? Hope the pain eases a bit.

tabbykat esme and daisy are both lovely names. I think esme works ok with evie because, although they look similar written down, they have different 'e' sounds, so it's not like they rhyme or anything. I think we have our names (don't know the sex) but I don't quite want to announce them! Oh, and I was just thinking today that my bump is v. low. Not sure if it's just that it hasn't risen yet? (I'm 28+5) I don't have a low lying placenta, unless it's possible for it to move down late on?

I had a rubbish night's sleep again last night . I wasn't in pain or anything, just woke up at 3am and was wide awake until at least 5.30. Anyone got any suggestions for insomnia? I need a really really boring book to send me to sleep! Ulysses always worked when I was a student (so heavy, you had to lie down to read it: always a good start), maybe I should drag that out again.

Laugs · 08/09/2009 11:03

Oh and lemontop it sounds like you are doing brilliantly on your diet! I tried GI (very half-heartedly) once, and I did notice that I didn't experience those peaks and troughs of blood sugar levels. I know it's not exactly the same, but I have an Atkins recipe book that is gathering dust, if you would like it?

scarlotti · 08/09/2009 11:49

lemontop we do a low GI diet when we need to trim down and it's great, it really gets rid of sugar cravings and works weight wise too. I'll be doing the same post baby once I'm recovered.

Ninja lol at your visions of me I only wish I was so organised and good around the house to think I could achieve that! If I pull off the cards thing it will be pre baby, as post baby I'll be like a headless chicken I reckon!

tabbykat agree with Laugs and think both names are lovely and no conflicts with Evie.

We are going to keep the name to ourselves, if and when we ever manage to agree on one

Read a thread on here the other day saying no need to sterilise bottles etc. if you put them in the dishwasher - what do people think about that? I'd planned to get an electric one to sit on the side, but wondering now if we need to have one? If hte dishwasher is sufficient, what are you supposed to do with everything when it comes out? Hoping to bf, but will mix breast and bottle after a few weeks for convenience so will need to think about breast pump and bottles.
Which reminds me ... must sort out a shelf in one of the kitchen cupboards for bottles etc.

eeyore2 · 08/09/2009 12:14

Trikken - wow, that is amazing that you are a triplet. I once looked after identical triplets at a summer camp, that was seriously confusing. Every time I thought I had worked out the trick to identify them, I lost it again and had to ask who I was talking to. Must have driven the poor girls insane having that going on all the time. Presumably though you are not identical as you mentioned you have very different body shapes. That must be quite difficult as well if you feel that people are always comparing you or calling you 'the curvy one' or 'the short one' or something like that. Happy birthday though!
Lemontop - oh my goodness 7lb in two weeks!!! That must be a serious diet. I hope you aren't finding it too difficult.
Ninja - so sorry to hear about your hospital trip. I really hope the rest of your pregnancy is as stress-free as possible.
easyeggs, mum27 - thank heavens for school starting! helips - just think, in a few years your ds will also be running off to school without a backward glance... Must have been so heart-rendering though at nursery.
Claired - I think it was quite nasty of your boss to say that you were only being kept on because you were pregnant. I'm sure it was also because of your performance. Maybe he was trying to make the other poor person who was let go feel better.

ErikaMaye · 08/09/2009 12:39

Scarlotti glad you slept better I don't seem to have gained any weight anywhere other than bump and boobs so far... Ohh and I'd be interested in buying some of the craft stuff off you, if you're planning on selling it anyway I'm decorating Bryn's book at the moment and got rather carried away so have run out

Becky if its any consolation, that sounds like every day in our house, though it tends to be me or my brother shouting that at my mum

Trikken ohh triplets!! I have a set of friends who are triplets, they're absolutely lovely, but does always mean they don't get a quiet birthday. Hope your DS is okay.

Ninja hope your DP makes a swift recovery, poor man.

Tabby your trip sounds lovely, welcome back! Am not surpised you're tired though. No idea on the placenta front, sorry, but hope that its good news. Oh, and thanks for calling me organised - very rarely happens I like both those names, though am incredably partial to Esme.

Lemontop hope the pain eases off soon Glad to hear the GD is under control, though, and I hope the growth scan goes well.

Lissy I don't whats more annoying - that, or being asked if I'm sure about dates as I'm so small... Why do people think they have the right to comment??? Ugh.

Laugs sorry you're sleeping badly. I really must send those CDs to you soon Really sorry for the delay. They're supposed to be listened to when you wouldn't sleep, but help me nod off. Have you tried putting lavander on your pressure points? And breathing to a count. Helps with the insomnia I get with ME.

I am so glad I got this pillow. Although I woke up a lot last night - think Bryn is leaning on my bladder again - I got back to sleep so much easier because I got comfortable almost instantly.

Bryn is leaning to one side today I think, as my belly is lop-sided Its the strangest thing to see... Am loving the apperances of little bumps which must be knees or elbows, its amazing. He's incredably active today.

Ordered DP a little present off Amazon on Sunday morning, and it turned up today. Am very impressed!!

So bored today... Don't know if I have the energy to go out though. Maybe I should do some more on the blanket... Or scrapbook

beepbeep · 08/09/2009 12:44

Scarlotti - was also thinking that way re sterilising, I know in the US they just use dishwasher, but have been told that their dishwashers are hotter than ours - not sure if this is true. DH not heppy with not sterilising, so think we'll do it for first 3-4 months of bottle feeding and then stop - didn't do it for very long with DS.

tigger32 · 08/09/2009 12:54

Hello all,

Having a major panic here, I'm so very not organised and all this talk about clearing shelves for bottles, putting up cots etc is really freaking me out! I can feel my heart pounding now just thinking about it
And as for names ????

On an up note I've been for physio this morning and been given some exercises for my back, the physio said that my back is in bad shape and seems to have suffered a trauma in the past, possibly due to one of 2 car crashes. She has said she will do what she can now but I'll need more treatment after the birth.

So the post man has just been and finally delivered ds's birthday cards (6 of them) only 5 days late
claire glad you get to keep your job, try not to think about what will happen next year.
really sorry to hear about all the painful hips/backs etc. and all the sleepless nights.
