Aww lovely names, good weights.

I keep forgetting my pelvic floor exercises too. Oh dear. My trampolining days are probably over

LadyStealthPolarBear · 28/08/2009 06:35

and mine never began...
It was you who had a weekend away recently, wasn't it TF? Was it good?

bratnav · 28/08/2009 07:32

Fantastic news for neddie, gorgeous names.

I wonder how long we will have to wait for news from TLQ and MrsC?

I am napping during the day, I put a film on for the girls (5, 5 and 7) in the afternoons and then doze on the sofa in the same room. I do feel guilty, but currently rationalising it with the idea that if I don't nap then they will have a VERY grumpy Mummy by 5ish.

Bad news on the GTT, it came up that I am 'impaired' so not officially diabetic, but so close to the cut off point that even my lovely supportive GP said that based on the result he would recommend induction ASAP. Will call MW as soon as they are around this morning to see what they think I think I can definitely kiss goodbye to my HB.

bratnav · 28/08/2009 07:33

Blimey Stealth, just saw the time of your post, why are you up so early? Can't sleep?

BabyLady · 28/08/2009 07:55

Ohh Congrats Neddie, so exciting. Fabulous names and weights. She did so well with her cooking!!

Little Cheese, I understand your frustration. I keep having either period cramp or very stong and regular braxton hicks in the night. But then I manage to fall asleep and they amount to nothing. Have induction booked for next Thursday but would really prefer to go into labour naturally!

Bratnav, that's a bit scary but at least you will have your LO in your arms.

TrixieBelden · 28/08/2009 08:19

Love Neddie's names! Particularly Cerys; I've always liked that. So glad they're all well.

How frustrating, bratnav - but as BabyLady says, on the plus side, if you're induced, you'll get all this over with sooner. I've been indulging in an afternoon snooze every day too, with a DVD on for DD. She's been a star about it, comes and wakes me up when it's over. And I then feel much better and don't snap at her all through supper.

Re measuring: I think it's a load of tosh. With DD I was told she'd be about 8.5 lbs...two pounds more than she actually was. My bestie was also told that her first was measuring about 8.5 the day before she was induced...and her DD was almost ELEVEN POUNDS. It's not an exact science - in fact I don't think it's much of a science at all.

Has anyone else not managed to agree on a name with her DH? AT ALL?

bigbang · 28/08/2009 08:41

Congratulations Neddie! Well done you, and great weights too-no wonder you were so uncomfortable. Lovely names, hope you have a good recovery.

Bratnav I'm sorry you won't get your hb This happened to me last time (induction instead of home) and tbh it doesn't bother me anymore. The night before I was devastated and scared, but once ds was here it kind of became irrelevant iyswim. Hope you can feel a little positive about it before the big event, the less adrenaline pumping the better after all! Good luck with the mw.

I am exhausted most of the time really. Ds still has two hour naps so I can get some sleep then- the trouble is I need about 4 hours so wake up feeling more tired and grumpy! If I am desperate I put cbeebies on for an hour and doze on the sofa.

Really must do some pelvic floor exercises...

LittleCheese · 28/08/2009 08:44

trixie me and DH dont agree on any names at all, and I have suggested so many and had them rejected that even names I loved have now lost their sparkle and i find I dont love any names any more

Bratnav that is a shame about the induction. Do let us know what your midwife says.

We are having a cbeebies morning today, i am so so tired another evening of really strong braxton hicks then up 4 times in the night for the toilet. I could cry today so glad DH has next 3 days off work. Fingers crossed for baby arriving this weekend so he can have 2 weeks and 3 days

blue76 · 28/08/2009 08:45

Neddie - love the names. What fantastic weights for twins! No wonder you felt huge and uncomfortable.

Bratnav - see what your mw says before you start worrying. It's a shame they can't induce you at home.

Re measuring - when pg with dd1 I was told I was going to produce a 4 pounder. She was 3 pounds heavier.

Babylady and Littlecheese - I too seem to have plenty of BH from 8pm onwards, but they disappear after a few hrs. On a positive note, when I told mw this was happening, she said, 'Oh good, that means a nice and quick labour for you, the more bh the better!' Let's hope she's right!

Trixie - we agreed on girls name - we never did on a boy's, but we're having a girl so hopefully she actually looks like an Amelia!

Wow Neddie what great weights! Lovely names too!

Stealth! no pelvic floor exercises being done here either, well, maybe 2 a week if I remember!

I try and have a nap in the afternoon, and listen to my hypno cds, but I'm getting too exited now about meeting lo to sleep or relax!

Sorry about your GTT reults Bratnav, you'll be cuddling your lo soon though x x

Dont think the measuring is a science at all either - its more of a 'pluck a number out of the air! Heaviest lo I've seen was 11lb 4oz, very cute and very cuddly!

MrsChemist · 28/08/2009 09:40

Baby Theo was born on wednesday 26th at 12:38

He weighs 7lb 4oz and the whole thing took about 6 hours start to finish.

I ache a lot, but my son was so worth it. Sorry it's so short ladies but I must get back to LO.

Minshu · 28/08/2009 09:48

I think that DP and I have decided on a first name, but I'm concerned that he's just agreed with me rather than come up with anything (sensible) himself. She'll be having his surname, and I definitely want my Mum's middle name for her middle name.

Actually, I had two favourite names to choose from, but vetoed one when I realised that DP's niece and nephew already had a cousin of that name from his SIL's family. He doesn't think it matters, but I thought it could be a bit confusing.

These guessed weights you guys have been told in the past - are these all based on the mw feeling the abdomen and fundal height measurements? I have a presentation scan next week and was wondering if they would give me any measurements there - although I gather it's not the same as a growth scan. Any ideas?

I'm fairly confident that my LO won't be as heavy as my cousin's third DC - nearly 14 lb, natural birth - they made the papers and everything.

Listened to my hypno cd yesterday, half expecting the cat to disturb me, but it turned out to be baby that got all excitable and wriggly instead

Waiting impatiently for more news.

SprinkleofStardust · 28/08/2009 09:50

Loving Neddies names and the weights are fab, although I can't imagine actually carrying that around with me, so well done Neddie!!

Bratnav, I'm so sorry about your HB, but at least you'll know when it will happen and can prepare yourself for it.

I don't already have a DC so have less excuse for being so tired but still having an afternoon nap (or morning sometimes if the afternoon just seems too far away!!)

Has anyone been doing the perennial massage?? MW has encouraged me to but I just can't bring myself to do it...

Ah, pelvic floor... that will be my exercise for the next 10 mins

SprinkleofStardust · 28/08/2009 09:54

Congratulations MrsC!!!

Love the name Theo and a great weight, glad everything went quickly and your both doing well enjoy your LO!!

AprilMeadow · 28/08/2009 10:09

Congratulations MrsC on the arrival of baby Theo x

Guessing weights is just a case of plucking a figure out of the air. My friend was told 2 days before her ds was born that he would weigh between 7-8lbs... he was actually 10lbs!! Measurements of the tummy again i think all depend on where baby is lying. Re scans, i think that baby might be too big a this point to give accurate weights etc but i might be totally wrong.

So am officially 37 wks today which means that she can arrive anytime and should mean that i dont have to stay in hospital afterwards

Have stepped up the dose of RLT capsules as well

bigbang · 28/08/2009 10:22

Congratulations MrsC! Beautiful name too! Must feel so wonderful having him in your arms at last.

daffodilli · 28/08/2009 10:32

Great news MrsC! and welcome to little Theo . Going to have to have a box of tissues alongside the laptop at this rate!
Lots of lovely names on this thread as well

FairySparkles · 28/08/2009 10:45

Oooo congratulations MrsC Welcome to little Theo!

Loving Neddie's names (Oscar's top of our list too)... and blimey - what great weights!! That's alot of baby to have been carrying round!!

....I'm losing track now - who else are we waiting for news from?? Wasn't TLQ going in for inducing???
My non-existent pregnant brain is really causing me some embarrassing situations now - I literally have NO memory anymore

JRocks · 28/08/2009 10:49

Lovely to hear all this baby news!

at Stealth's brain going awol during pelvic floor exercises

I'm 36 weeks today, and the consultant has said that if nothing has happened by my next appointment with her she'll do a sweep - I'll be 37.5 then. Fingers crossed I start off before... Everytime i feel a twinge I'm torn between wanting it to be labour NOW to wanting to hold it in until Tuesday at the earliest.

Good luck every one else - hope to hear more baby news when I check in next

mummyhill · 28/08/2009 10:50

I am soo jealous of those getting afternoon. naps!

Aww Neddie what lovely names and great weights for twins!

Congrats Mrs C and welcome Theo another nice healthy weight there.

Sorry to hear that you probably won't get your home birth Bratnav but at least you will be well looked after and be holding your little one soon.

Minshu · 28/08/2009 11:16

MrsC - completely missed your post earlier!! Congratulations!!! (Sob. Blub.)

My buggy has just arrived - not quite so exciting, but baby must be jumping for joy into my lungs as I can barely breathe suddenly. When I can stand up again, will go and have a play with it.

Made a start on "packing" the hospital bags - have some stuff in the wash, some waiting for the wash and a shopping list, but I've got more of the essentials already than I thought I had.

Pretty sure that it's just TLQ that we are expecting news from now. But anything could happen from now on.

It's nearly September!!! (Not sure why that's a surprise to me but it is)

LadyStealthPolarBear · 28/08/2009 11:58

Congratulations MrsChemist

LadyStealthPolarBear · 28/08/2009 12:02

JRocks, why are you having a sweep so early if you don't mind me asking?

bratnav, sorry you're not getting your homebirth, but keen to hear your baby news!! I am usually up fairly early with DS - until recently any time after 5 was a lie in now it tends to be 6ish or a quick feed at 4 or 5 and then 7! This morning was early though, I think 5.30, but he'd slept through until then so it wasn't too bad. Plus by 8.30pm I tend to be planning to go to bed in the next hour

Glad it's not just me who's exhausted. DH bought DS a couple of DVDs (Cars and Wall-E) in the hope that we could use them to entertain him as well as CBeebies (wow that sounds bad but ykwim) - DH tried to watch them with him and he was terrified of both of them poor little guy. DH then watched Wall-E all the way through when I was in bed last night, I kept hearing him laugh.

TigerFeet · 28/08/2009 13:23

Congratulations MrsChemist and welcome to Theo

I hope TLQ is doing OK

Hope the MW is more positive Bratnav. GP's aren't really placed to make these decisions imo.

I'm knackered and a little bit tearful today. I should be doing something nice with dd, she goes back to school next week and today is the last day we will get on our own together [sob]. She's watching a dvd while I alternate between slobbing on the sofa and trying to get jobs done around the house . I will make an effort to go out this afternoon and take her to the park for an icecream or something. It keeps bloody raining though.

On the lighter side, it would appear that I did do sharing about Braxton Hicks during my last pregnancy... about half way down under How Can I Ease The Discomfort

TigerFeet · 28/08/2009 13:26

(I wish it were true of this pg. I get them all the fucking time)
