Ooh, glad I didn't get any castor oil now then!! The thought of it wasn't very nice but now knowing what it does I'm glad I followed my instincts!! I may go and put my bestest knickers on though, if I can still fit into them, not that I'll be able to see them when they are on though

I'm getting intense backache at the lower of my back that lasts for about 30 seconds, peaking and dropping off, my mum and I are wondering if it's the start of labour as they're coming about 10 minutes apart, does anyone have any experience of backache labour? I do know that the baby is definitely anterior so it's not because of his position and on the last one the pain did come round the bump a bit as well. Is this the start??? Probably not, they'll stop in a bit you'll see

Really hope you're twinges develop into something for you Stealth x

TigerFeet · 14/09/2009 16:08

Try not to read too much into it Nitnat, some babies don't engage until labour starts. This one wasn't engaged at all last time I was seen.

Ewww at effects of castor oil. It struck me the other day how, erm, interesting a lot of desperate women must smell when they go into labour, all that curry, sex and so forth . I must remember to have a good sluice down in the shower before I head off to hospital.

SoS I do hope this turns into something for you, I have no experience of backache labour, dd was definitely all bump pain. But regular pain every 10 mins sounds promising.

Stealth, I am so with you on the not knowing. It drives me insane.

Snowfalls108 · 14/09/2009 16:28

completely agree about the not knowing. That is what is driving me crazy. I'm a planner by nature.

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT

Baby Harry David Arthur was born on Sunday 13.9.09 at 3am weighinng 8lb 11oz

So didn't quite mak it in the Saturday race but wasn't far off! My waters actually broke on the Saturday while in the fruit and veg aisle in ASDA!

Harry is a good weight but suprisingly and thankfully much smaller than expected. We're home now and recovering well. Best of luck to everyone still waiting.

SprinkleofStardust · 14/09/2009 16:45

Congratulations LJ!! Welcome to Harry!! You win the saturday race as I don't think anyone else who was due has given birth, so well done!!

Still having pains and they seem to be moving round to the bump more, so fingers crossed!! Will keep you all informed

Completely with the not knowing frustration, I can't stand it which is why I'm trying not to get my hopes up now, just in case it comes to nothing again.

LadyStealthPolarBear · 14/09/2009 16:49

Congratulations LJ

super news LJ29 xxxxxxxx

congratulations on making your mark in Asda !!! hehehe.......
were you staring at pineapples by any chance ???? hehehe

I have to say with one of my boys I did get low dull backache as the start of labour...was low down (where my underware/briefs came up to) and came in waves...same as BH's do....got stronger & could be timed....just like BH's...
so fingers crossed sprinkle

I had terrible pain last night in my belly...thought it was as I had done an hours worth of ironing...????
have felt exhausted today and off my food (well anything too big) so eating choc bars & biscuits....
but have just been terribly sick ...and my BH's are coming along strongly again...
so its looking promising for tonight ???

mummyhill · 14/09/2009 17:07

Congratulations LJ. I hope Asda staff were helpful!

Congratulations, LJ!

Hope the twinges are fruitful, SoS.

Was wondering where you'd got to, StayFrosty - I think you're due a week tomorrow, like me?

Gonnabamumma · 14/09/2009 18:12

Congratulations to LJ29 - fantastic news!

I am in a bit of a flap tbh. The baby has really slowed down movements today, to the point where there is virtually no movement at all. I am 39+5 and the saw my midwife today, she said it was fine as long as I am getting 10 movements in 12 hrs, but so far today, I don't think I am. I heard the heart beat which was fine at the appointment, but am still worried. Should I just chill out or call the hospital - advice pls??

Still getting pains and it's been 3 hours now, coming between 10 and 20 minutes, averaging out at 15mins. Mum and DH seem to think it's happening, I'm just staying very relaxed and dealing with each one as it comes, trying very hard not to get too excited!!

Gonnabamumma, go to the hospital, you know yourself better than anyone else and therefore your baby, if you are worried then it needs to be checked, they won't think you're wasting their time. Hope they monitor you and put your mind at rest xx

LadyStealthPolarBear · 14/09/2009 19:00

Hi SF
Gonnab, would get it checked out, even though I'm sure it will be fine
SoS, does sound like things are happening for you

If this pregnancy is like my last one I should be having my first contraction in 13 minutes (was the start of Coronation Street!). I'll let you know...

Hi Ladies, me again - just a quick update. Just after I posted, baby started moving again and has been having a disco half hour, so am feeling much better now. Thank you for all being so kind - my Mum and DH were just telling me not to be so stupid worrying, but I couldn't help it. I have just eaten a whole pineapple and am in heart burn hell - come on baby get a move on!!!

Labour vibes to all in the waiting room with me!

SprinkleofStardust · 14/09/2009 22:19

That's great news Gonnab, but if you are worried don't listen to your mum or DH, you know your body and noone else is having your baby!!

Well cx now 5-7 mins apart, have spoken to the MW, but she is at another HB and said that unless I slow down it's likely that I will have to go to hospital as there's no one to come out to me, trying to not worry about it but did have a cry when she said. Just hoping this other woman pops in time!! My cx's aren't completely regular so there's still time yet.

SF I have my TENS on now and it's working quite well, although the last cx hurt like hell!!

Good luck to everyone still waiting, Stealth I'm sure you won't be long now!! Will post again when I can xx

blue76 · 15/09/2009 07:04

Congrats LJ

Oh SoS I hope everything went smoothly for you (presuming you are now having lots of cuddles with LO) I hope you got your hb too...

Mumsylady - Looks like your method worked!

Gonnabe - Good to hear LO made their presence known again. I used to down loads of juice, eat a choc bar and have a lie down if I hadn't felt movement for a coupla hrs - usually did the trick

LSP - The end is in sight - hang on in there and enjoy the rest of your pg!

Well, it's all go from here...Go in at 11am and should be in theatre around 2pm today. So my next post'll be our birth announcement. EEK

was wondering if you were born in '76 ????

seems so gloomy and I felt quite sad hearing the news.....

well...I still didnt progress further than being terribly sick most of yesterday & having tons more much stronger BH's...
so Im still in this waiting room....
could be worse....it could be the waiting room from Beetlejuice...hehehe

good luck to all ladies for today xx
