Congratulations, JRocks.

The hives sound dreadful, Trixie. I've had that before, many years ago. Hope you get sorted soon.

mummy2t · 13/09/2009 12:21

nitnat84 · 13/09/2009 15:44

Congrats to all of you who have had your babies
Well I had what I think were contractions fri night and they continued all day yesterday but they were not becoming more regular or more painful. I was convinced I would wake in the night in full labour, but NO!!!!
Woke up and I feel nothing Due date tomo and have an appointment so hopefully will learn more then.
The idea of being induced scares the life out of me! I just want the baby to arrive before I am interfered with! So scared.

mummy2t · 13/09/2009 15:49

fingers crossed for you nitnat84. you trying anything to get things moving naturally, mumsylady has afew " interesting " theory's that apparently do work!! see afew posts up!
my midwife said that BH's are more common at night because your have more hormones flying about at night! do get quite bad ones too. i still have another wk or 2 left to go t already bloody fed up,other dc's were early so i feel as though i have done my time so to speak!

Ladyem · 13/09/2009 15:55

nitnat don't be scared about being induced! It's not that bad ( and I am the world's biggest wuss!!) and at least you know that you'll soon be having a lovely cuddle with your LO! I've had a spontaneous and induced labour and both were pretty much the same! I did labour much faster when induced, but they said that 2nd labours can do that anyway, so might not have been to do with the induction.

TrixieVix · 13/09/2009 17:45

Congrats JR - looking forward to details.

Am joining the fed up crew - like others have said, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm actually pregnant - the only thing that makes me remember I am is the constant thudding kicks baby is treating me to, coupled with agonising heartburn and the sting of a couple of stretch marks. Happy days

Ok - am now at the point where I'm willing to try anything (ok, almost anything Mumsylady!!) and have a quick question - does it have to be fresh pineapple to work? I'm sat here and can't be arsed to move (sorry - am so fed up, can't even be bothered to sensor my posts anymore...)but do have a tin of pineapple rings in the cupboard and wondered if they'd do the same?

Also, I hate curry, but have got some delish Franks Hot Sauce (oh my god, it really is yummy - try it!) and am wondering if that do the same trick?

Is it wrong that I'm kinda pleased you lot are fed up too - well, they do say that misery breeds company (have I made that up? Am into making my own versions of phrases when pregnant...last night referred Alf Garnet as Alf Garfit )

Hope everyone has had as good a weekend as possible - getting very jealous of those now cuddling their LO's

Lobyd · 13/09/2009 17:47

Hi all,

Not a frequent poster but a frequent follower...congratulations to all those who've had their babies, commiserations and contraction vibes to those who're still waiting.

Had my DD on Tuesday 8th at 4.13 am, 2 days early. Serena was 6 pounds 11 and came in rather a hurry with only 2 paracetamol for pain relief! She's worth it though.

Incidentally I did ask for gas and air and it turned out afterwards they gave me the tubes and so on but didn't turn the gas cannister on!!! So I was sucking away on an empty mouthpiece. Worked this out while my stitches were being put in as that time they really did give me the drugs, thank goodness.

Home now adjusting to life as a mum hope to keep up with this thread a bit more now I'm kind of getting on top of things.

TrixieVix · 13/09/2009 17:54

Ok - I'm a div....look what I did on the stats thread

TrixieVix · 13/09/2009 17:55

Oh god, and sorry - welcome and congrats to Lobyd. I'm going whilst I've not blown the computer up or fallen over nothing, or....you get the picture

LadyStealthPolarBear · 13/09/2009 18:09

Congratulations Lobyd
Trixie, yes I think it does have to be fresh - I find them a faff to cut and core and would much rather just eat the equivalent tinned stuff, but iirc last time it does have to be fresh. Not that it worked either.
Right, been for a long walk today in town, eating pineapple tonight, probably sex as well as I'm desperate and will try anything!

Minshu · 13/09/2009 18:25

Congratulations, Lobyd.

Missed your post when I was posting earlier, mumsylady. You poor thing!! Not sure I'll be able to manage your methods.

Misery loves company - so it's great to be here with my achey hips and ribs Just had an accidental nap on the sofa and so am late putting the oven on for dinner Really must pull myself together!!!

TigerFeet · 13/09/2009 18:26

Congratulations JRocks

And welcome and congrats to LobyD

Do we have a post natal thread yet? Not that I have any reason to need a post natal thread [grump]

I have bought an enormous pineapple today. Am I supposed to eat it or sit on it?

TrixieVix was it you near Lincoln (sorry am v forgetful). I'm in B o sto n so not too far away.

TrixieVix · 13/09/2009 18:42

Bummer - I've got one of those containers of pineapple and was hoping that would do the same job. Damn it - looks like DH will be getting lucky (actually, not sure if he will see it like that!) tonight to get this little monkey out

Tigerfeet - yup, I'm in a villiage just outside of Lincoln. My BIL and new girlfriend live in Boston

LadyStealthPolarBear · 13/09/2009 18:43

can share half a very ripe pineapple with you?

LadyStealthPolarBear · 13/09/2009 18:44

because I'm guessing it all needs to be eaten in one go really, and it's 7pm and i haven't even cut it yet!

AprilMeadow · 13/09/2009 18:56

Congrats JRocks and welcome&congrats to lobyd.

Think i had a show this morning (not going get to too excited by it) and have been out for the day walking lots. Have been having tightenings for a good 4 hours now that seem to be between 4-9mins apart so not particularly regular. Might just be because i have been out all day.

Ds starts school tomorrow and we have just put him in his uniform to take pictures, just incase anything happens in the night and we miss his first day. He looks so grown up - where on earth did my baby go..???

peachygirl · 13/09/2009 19:48

HI everyone congrats Jrocks, and comiserations to everyone else here still waiting especially Big bang. I hope it all kicks off soon.

Well I'm OK, tired and have a very sore bum (Yes I know, TMI but to be honest it's REALLY sore)

DD1 is doing OK, getting giddy and we have had some bad behaviour but DD2 isn't feeding too well and this is causing me to be with her lots, she is slightly yellow, and very sleepy. She is feeding but comes on and off a lot and I have been expressing to keep her going.

Has anyone started a postnatal thread yet??

blue76 · 13/09/2009 19:54

Congrats Lobyd

Mumsylady - please tell us it was a cup full of castor oil that your DH took into hospital for you and not spunk

I don't feel ready for Tues. Maybe I'd be as ffed up and frustrated as you guys if I was just waiting for things to happen, but I'm hating the fact I've gotta have a cs and it feels strange knowing DDs bday in advance, iyswim

OP posts:
SprinkleofStardust · 13/09/2009 19:59

Congratulations JRocks and Lobyd, very jealous but happy for you

Thanks for the feedback about the plug, although I've had another one today (how much can be up there???) and still nothing has happened MW is coming out tomorrow and I'll get another sweep and will hassle her completely to find out what the hell is going on!!

DH has decided that we cannot have sex now I've had a show as I'm open to infection, does anyone know if this is true or is he lying to me when he says he still finds me attractive??

Bexaa, I was going to vacuum the car earlier but after trimming all the bushes back down the side of our house and going to the tip, as well as moving the living room round yesterday I was pretty tired but think I'll give it a go tomorrow after the MW has been!! I'm that desperate now, I really don't want to get to the point of induction (with you there nitnat) especially as I'll then have to go to hospital

How are the other Saturday racers?

SprinkleofStardust · 13/09/2009 20:01

Oh blue, I understand how you feel, well obviously I don't, but know that I would feel the same iyswim???

Will be thinking of you and at least you'll be holding your LO soon

Snowfalls108 · 13/09/2009 20:38

DH for some reason doesn't seem up for "it"
Says he feels used, can't think why!
Right off to have some pineapple, and hope that the sweeep tomorrow does the trip.
Anyone else had a one?

SprinkleofStardust · 13/09/2009 20:45

Snowfalls, lol at DH feeling used!!

I had a sweep on Friday and will be having another one tomorrow, unless I miraculously go into labour tonight, which I don't think is likely

The MW who did it was very gentle and it wasn't that uncomfortable, less than a smear, but I'm guessing the MW will make a difference!! Good Luck!!
