Minshu, that was the idea, anything I can do to pay forward the good luck I have has to be good. Spread the word of Bratnavs DH to your menfolk

JRocks · 10/09/2009 18:37

Gorgeous boy Bratnav, and although the birth story is a bit eek, it also shows that despite things going a bit haywire you are fine afterwards. My first birth would have everyone running screaming if I posted! But the point is, all's well that ends well

Have a feeing DP would just be a bit rabbit in headlights when faced with a moron midwife like that. Shouldn't malign him really, he's good at not panicking even in really bad situations so I do feel supported. He just believes what they all say though

Having yet more contractions and have had some slightly snotty stuff (tmi) come out...hopefully still will start by myself or at least will be getting there when they induce on Monday.

Shame your sweep wasn't a success StayFrosty good that the head is well down though.

eightisseventoomany · 10/09/2009 19:06

Hiya minshu and hiya ladies

Well my girlie friends have booked me for an early birthday treat tonight apparently !!! DH just said...get ready by 8pm my dear !!!
so no idea what they have in mind.....

SprinkleofStardust · 10/09/2009 19:33

What a lot of information I've just read and now can't remember anything

Although a bit scary, a positive birth story Bratnav, and I've made a point of reading your DH's actions to my DH!!!

I felt really ill last night and woke up with a headache, but not feeling too bad now, although still not great, kind of burying my head in the sand as I don't want my HB taken away from me when I'm so close.

As long as my BP has gone down tomorrow I should be ok, so I'll be thinking low and staying relaxed!! What does everyone think of me asking for a sweep? They might not give it to me but I thought it might be worth an ask, but then worried it will be cheating with regards to the Saturday race!! I'm so bloody competitive, but with myself, not others!!

mummyhill · 10/09/2009 20:25

Should of added earlier the story of my first birth would also have people running for the hills lol.

Have finaly got round to adding some pics to my profile. Have only been on here for about ohh 4 years lol. I promise to add photos on minihill no 3 when they arrive!

TigerFeet · 10/09/2009 21:59

Evening

I am really struggling to keep up

Some lovely pics

I've been on the maternity ward this evening, I went to visit my friend who gave birth in the early hours of this morning. Someone else I know was there too, having given birth yesterday. So I've had a cuddle of two newborns today

Just want to be cuddling my own now.

Tigerfeet, maybe all the newborn holding will set you off. You can always hope. I'm really waiting for something to set me off!

I'm a bit anti having a sweep until i'm REALLY overdue. I'm worried about the risk (prob small) of the MW breaking waters and then being on a timetable for induction. I assume my body knows what it's doing and will give it a bit of time. I guess close to 42 weeks though, I might have one if we have to start thinking about induction ... I'm just hoping not to get that far.

blue76 · 11/09/2009 07:35

Fairysparkles - good luck with growth scan. I had one a couple of weeks ago as mw said LO hadn't grown for 3 weeks. She is fine and measuring fine for dates. During my stay in hospital this week, I got chatting to a lady who had just had her baby girl. She was told LO was going to be tiny and she was 8lbs 11ozs

Bratnav - just told DP about your fab DP - he said, 'Bloody hell, how to show the rest of us up! They mustn't have other kids to look after.' Which prompted me to check your profile...he went very silent when I informed him that you already had 3 LOs...hehe. Your mw sounded like an arse as well - they're so cynical, some of em.

Off for pre-op appt today in preparation for Tues - hoping LO has stayed head down since ECV.

Sorry - forgot to mention - had a giggle at Minshu listening to shipping forecast...when I can't sleep I flick Radio 4 on and wait for them to play 'Sailing By' and then the shipping forecast. I agree, very soothing

Well done you, bratnav - I find MWs exasperating and your story kind of didn't surprise me in the least. So glad it has a happy ending.

40w yesterday, went in for a sweep after two days of irregular but strong contractions. Mostly stopped now, but have broken out in hives all over my chest/neck/arms/face so am off to hospital yet again as soon as I get DD off to school. I'm making DH take her inside as I am not fit for public consumption, looking, as I do, like a big red alien.

AprilMeadow · 11/09/2009 08:53

Lovely pics Bratnav and what a fab dh you have:

Welcome to the new mummy's-in-waiting.

I am thinking of asking mw to do a sweep next week if nothing happens over the weekend.

Am getting so bored of all the 'havent you had that baby yet' comments or the 'dont forget to let us know'. I am at the point where i look miserable ALL the time and would rather stay in the house to avoid the questions and 'advice' on how to get the baby out.

Oh well at least the end is very near

Hope all appointments go well today and that babies are moving into the correct positions for you all.

audreyraines · 11/09/2009 09:15

it is a bit boring, but at least when people give advice about moving baby along i can say TRIED IT, TRIED IT, TRIED IT!

SprinkleofStardust · 11/09/2009 09:19

AprilMeadow, I'm completely with you, if I have one more text saying 'have you had the baby yet?' or 'is there any news?' and one more person telling me to eat a goddamn f*cking CURRY, which I don't like and doesn't do anything I will scream at them and probably not stop until I've been carried away by men (or women) in white coats!!!

Thanks for the feedback re the sweep SF and Audrey, I think I'll ask and just see what they say, if I have to go to the hospital again then I can at least make it worth my while!! Right off to get ready, have a good day everyone

AprilMeadow · 11/09/2009 09:22

I do the same, apart from the 'dont eat curry or pineapple' response.

I looked in my wardrobe the other day and i am down to 3 tops that actually cover my bump. Am tempted to go and buy 1 or 2 more as i dont like my belly flesh being on display. Annoyingly there are shops where i live that do a maternity range. I found myself staring longly at my 'skinny' clothes and thinking how nice everything looked and then wondered how long it would be before i could squeeze into them again

I think i will go and camp out on the sofa as i am depressing myself (and no doubt everyone else) with how moany i am sounding

AprilMeadow · 11/09/2009 09:22

there are no shops

AprilMeadow · 11/09/2009 09:23

longly = longingly

I give up!!

Snowfalls108 · 11/09/2009 09:51

Morning everyone
Just wanted to recommend reflexology again. I had another appointment yesterday, and although no baby, I had 6 hours straight sleep last night which has left me feeling great this morning.

BabyLady · 11/09/2009 10:04

Congrats Bratnav! What a b*tch of a midwife. I think becasue they see women in pain every day they just think it is ok to not be compassionate or even nice to you.

Toby obliged with two 4 hour stints between feeds last night. Yay for him. Midwife coming today so can't wait to see how much weight the little porker has put on.

Audreyr, thanks for the support re BF. He is gulping for like 5 mins, breaking off for some winding and then grazing for like another 5 mins max. That is all I can get him to drink before he falls into a drunk coma which nothing wakes him from. Quite freaky when all the books are saying 20-25mins on 1st breast and offer second. I did express yesterday and give him a bottle for the first time and he guzzled 90mls in 7 mins and about 5 mins later had a graze on my breast for about 3 mins.

No more births today? I have my fingers crossed that someone's little one will arrive (my birthday today you see - not that I have given it much thought as I have been a tad distracted ).

Gonnabamumma · 11/09/2009 10:19

Hi Ladies, congratulations to everyone who has had their little ones this week. Have been a bit distracted and have millions of posts and pictures to catchup on.

Have had my Aunt and Uncle staying for the last 10 days and they finally went home last night (thank the good lord!).

Am now all on tenderhooks waiting for something to happen, but not a sign so far. Have really bad carpel tunnel at the mo, so am a bit of a misery guts. Have just booked myself a session of reflexology tomorrow to make myself feel better.

Anyway, off to catchup on everyone's news xxx

LadyStealthPolarBear · 11/09/2009 11:31

Morning everyone
No memory today I'm afriad
Audrey, I am living in 3 non maternity tops from Sainsbury's believe it or not, they are ...don't know what the style's called but big and have room for my bump! They're the only ones so far to still cover me up when my "under the bump" trousers end up round my knees . They were cheap too!

Minshu · 11/09/2009 12:33

Happy Bithday, babylady!

Sorry to those of you not feeling well.

Where is that damned nesting instinct? I'm trying to force myself to clean the bathroom and truly disgusting oven, but keep breaking off to potter meaninglessly (if that's a word). And now it's lunchtime and I've wasted the entire morning. Will revert to plan B and ensure that the girls all get drunk as quickly as possible this evening, so they don't notice the state of the place Then I can go to the beach instead.

I'm finding I get as much use out of slightly larger non-maternity tops as I do my maternity ones at the moment. Not being at work means I end up wearing the same things every day. Quite looking forward to being able to wear some different clothes - especially trousers that don't fall down!!

SprinkleofStardust · 11/09/2009 13:46

Happy Birthday Babylady!!

Back from the hospital and BP is back to normal as is urine, so Yay!! We're still all set for home birth and the very lovely MW (most gentlest and kindest one I've found so far) gave me a sweep, I'm only 1cm dilated, which is rubbish and it didn't look like I was going to be giving birth anytime soon, so hopefully this will help things along a bit at least, but it's not looking like I'll be winning the Saturday race or in it at all!!

Don't worry about the lack of nesting Minshu, I'm sure your friends won't be looking at anything other than your beautiful bump!! Have a great time

LadyStealthPolarBear · 11/09/2009 13:55

Happy birthday babylady, I obviously missed that
Glad everything is good SoS! I've resigned myself to definitely not winning the Saturday race!
Although, I had a text from a friend yesterday to remind me that her DD was two days early, and she didn't have even a twinge until 5pm that day!

SprinkleofStardust · 11/09/2009 14:04

Oh I love stories like that Stealth, but then just think I get my hopes up just to be dashed in the long run... but still we live in hope, they have to come out at some point, don't they????
