I think tesco (the bigger stores anyway) sell them btw.
Don;t take my word for it but if you have one nearby might be worth investigating

JRocks · 10/09/2009 11:00

there is one not far actually, I might do that now as I need to go to the accountants close by anyway, thanks Stealth

Must have been something to do with the date... DP thought it would have been nice to be in having the baby yesterday as he could have listened to the England match on the radio in the delivery room do we think his priorities maybe a little skewed?!

nitnat84 · 10/09/2009 11:38

ooooooooooooohhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! I WANT MY BABY!!!!! sorry had to let that out! Here seemed the best place.

Minshu · 10/09/2009 11:41

I know, LadyStealth. I've not met one medical person during my pregnancy that hasn't been understanding, sensible, sympathetic and basically lovely. Even the registrar who told me I should be admitted was very nice and it was me panicking that was the real problem.

Right, everyone up to north tyneside if they ever want to go through all this again!!

Just got back from routine mw appt. She told me that because I'm now booked to see the obstetrician, I'll probably not see her (mw) again until I've had the baby. I nearly cried.

LadyStealthPolarBear · 10/09/2009 11:41

certainly does nitnat - we all agree

Minshu · 10/09/2009 11:47

JRocks - DP was winding me up about being in labour over a Saturday morning, as he likes to listen to a really annoying football program on radio 5 live, where they have these stupid sound effects. Yes - that would help, lots.

At least cricket commentary would be reasonably soporific. Confession time: I love the sound of the shipping forecast and football scores being read out - just for the soothing rhythm, not the information

LadyStealthPolarBear · 10/09/2009 11:49

You sound emotional Minshu

blue76 · 10/09/2009 12:16

Aww Minshu - you keep your chin up. Should've seen the state of me when they admitted me on Tues [cried for hours] I'm glad you're around a good bunch of anti-natal staff. Mine have been fab too. We did ask the consultant if he could turn LO and then induce me and he said he doesn't like to induce unless he has proof that the uterus has become hostile to the baby. I do hope they don't end up admitting you. If it's any consolation, they told me yday that many babies move around and don't engage but the mother doesn't even realise. It's only that they've been keeping a closer eye on us that they have to cover their arses by suggesting we are admitted.

Hi all,
welcome Labella and mumsylady - the more the merrier

Had to do a mamouth catch up - again!!....and as usual forgotten the majority!

Had MW app on monday and she said baby seems very small (dd was 8lb 1oz -she said no way was this one going to be as big) and I have LOADS of water - therefore I measure about right for dates but the excess waters is disguising how small baby could be!!.....anyhoo; I've been booked in to see a doctor/consultant on monday - maybe have a growth scan - quite excited at the possibilty of another scan just to see bubs, however I'm a wee bit concerned and confused as to what the problem is with a small baby???? Shed any light anybody??

bratnav · 10/09/2009 13:46

Hi all and congratulations to you with new arrivals. Congratulations to the rest of you too for not tearing your hair out

Birth story anyone? Too bad, here it is anyway!

After being bullied into having an induction due to high GTT result at 38 weeks (horror stories of higher chance of stillbirth etc etc) I was turned away from the hospital on 28th as they didn't have room for me. Turned up at 8.30am as requested on 29th to be given a prostin pessary at 12.30 Cx kicked off every 10 minutes and then ground to a halt at midnight despite clary sage oil, bouncing on birth ball and hiking round the hospital grounds (many concerned elderly ladies ).

DH sent home as the delivery suite was too busy for me to have waters broken. DH came back the next morning after a surprisingly good nights sleep for us both, so that was a good decision all round. They broke my waters at around 11.30, but DS was showing no signs of vacating his room after 3 hours so they started syntocin drip. MW managed to remind DH and I that DS must arrive before 10pm as she finished her shift then and had to be up early the next morning so couldn't stay late around 15 times by around 8pm, I think that says pretty much everything you need to know about her. Drip was increased every half hour until I was having 3 cx per 10 minutes, then MW decided to increase it once more for luck CX increased to 90 seconds long, 30 second gap then the next one. I was caning the G&A at a seriously impressive rate. DH mentioned his concern to MW that the drip may be too high, she said it was fine, he asked for Dr/supervisor who confirmed he was right and drip was turned down.

At 9.30pm MW checked me and said I was 6cm at which point I lost the will to live and begged for an epidural. MW went off to get anaesthetist, came back with her after 10-15 minutes, DH was trying to help me lean over the bed so they could do the epidural. I told him and MW that it was too late, MW told me not to be silly, at which point I lay back on the bed and DS arrived in 3 pushes at 9.49pm

DS weighed 9lb 12oz or 4.43kg and was 59cm long. He is Reuben Henry Charles, a very chilled out boy who has completed our family and is making us happier than I could have imagined.

Lovely photos Bratnav - although slightly scary birth story. Although alls well that ends well hey!

bratnav · 10/09/2009 15:28

Sorry about that, you are right, it is a bit scary, don't want to upset anyone

All IS well that ends well, DS is a dream baby and eats and sleeps like a star. I would rather have a slightly difficult birth (which I am fully recovered from now) and an angel baby than a breeze for one day and a poor little colicky baby who is miserable for months. I know the 2 aren't connected, but in my head I have traded one against the other.

Nah SF, he was a complete hero, massaging when needed too

I also need to really big him up as I came home to flowers, champagne, chocolate cake, a spotless house, empty laundry baskets and clean sheets. He is the best husband ever

mummyhill · 10/09/2009 17:03

Wow Bratnav you really do have a good one there. Fair play to him challenging the madwife and getting someone to double check what she had done.

Minshu · 10/09/2009 17:42

Thanks, blue - head's still central, so I don't need to see anyone for a fortnight and should be able to avoid hospital, unless I do go into labour (which is unlikely).

I would blame the pg hormones for my emotional state, but I might always be like this. Just spent far too much money on far too much food and drink ready for the girls to come around tomorrow. Really hope that this legendary nesting instinct kicks in to help me tidy up before they arrive...

Oh, Bratnav, he's gorgeous!! On the basis that men are fairly competitive, I'm going to show your last post to DP

Sorry, FairySparkles, no idea, but hope all is well.
