Thought I would start a new thread for may. Just got bfp and I am really excited. I think I'm due 30th April/1st May but there are so many people on April already. Heres hoping for a healthy pregnancy. I will just wait for lots more of you to join me. xxxx

OP posts:

Stokey38 · 24/09/2009 10:10

My DD is strictly an In the Night Garden, gal. No tears at that I can assure you. Did nearly cry at Masterchef last night though. That's just tragic.

mummydemma · 24/09/2009 10:31

Hi everyone!

Hope it's Ok that I have added myself to the list. I got my BFP on Sunday and it still doesn't seem real at the moment. Dh is definitely in shock! This will be baby number 3 for us - DD is 8 and DS is 3. They are both April babies so will be 9 and 4 when this one comes along.

We are only telling very close family and friends at the moment (although that is difficult for me!!!). I will have to have a CVS test at about 14 weeks, which I hate, as DD has a rare genetic condition and we need to rule that out. I had the test with DS and he was 100% fine but it hurt like hell!

Looking forward to 'getting to know' everyone over the next 8 months and I already recognise a lot of names from the May bus.

AnAngelWithin · 24/09/2009 11:30

thanks for the virtual hands to hold. I have just got back from the hospital having had my second lot of bloods. Got to ring after 9am tomorrow for the results. Going to be a long day waiting, but they said that either way i will have to endure more scans and blood tests, as even if the baby has gone, they like to monitor your hormone levels til they are down to 100?

Welcome to all the newbies.

Hollyoaks · 24/09/2009 11:41

headinawhirl, stokey, moosmum, mummydemma welcome to the thread and congratulations

forcessweetheart just saw your before and after pictures and it made me cry at how much you have achieved and good you luck. Well done

memorylapse, kaylo, prinpo my fingers are crossed for all of you. I'm hoping you all get good news very very soon. Take care of yourselves in the mean time.

angelwithin I hope your bloods are reassuring, maybe its not over yet. I will be thinking about you and hoping that it all goes well. Good luck

I'm only 5 weeks today and had my booking in appointment and bloods yesterday as nobody else turned up to the group session with the midwife. It all feels very real now that I have my notes. Quite scary actually as its still so early. I've also been referred to the consultant and a psychologist to talk about my last labour which I'm actually looking forward to as it may make me feel less anxious about this pg.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 24/09/2009 12:00

Welcome Mummydemma.

I just had my booking-in appt, MW called and asked if she could come round since she was free. All went well although my BP is already very high (160/110) so I have to go and see GP. Looks like I'll definitely be having another hospital birth then!

cupcakefairy · 24/09/2009 12:03

Hope noone minds but have rearranged the list so it's easier to see who's on which date.
Yes I am a loser with too much time on my hands

I can't stop eating carbs too; just want pasta! DH is insisting I add beans, broccoli and other such boring things though!

pamelat · 24/09/2009 13:08

carbs all the way for me. I am tempted to eat the entire loaf of bread.

I am off with DD on a Thurs and Friday and due to going to bed at 8pm most nights, including last night, had nothing for her to eat. Hastily made cheese on toast for lunch and then I sat and "shared" with her had to put more on for her, poor mite, I eat quicker than her.

LittleOneMum · 24/09/2009 14:06

Bless, it is so reassuring to hear that everyone else is eating madly!

This is my second pregnancy, and last time I was all svelte and lovely practically all the way through - I think I only ate an extra slice of toast a day or something. This time, I'm only 6+3 and I'm already eating like there is no tomorrow- I actually got up in the night to make myself a cheese sandwich last night - and I don't even like cheese [hmmm]. I am resigned to being a fat heffalump.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 24/09/2009 14:30

Cupcake, thanks for re-arranging the list, it does look better.

Kaylo, memorylapse, angelwithin etc, fingers still crossed for you guys, hope you're hanging in there ok.

Welcome and congrats to mummydemma and any new folks I've missed!

I don't think I've been eating more than usual, although yesterday I bought a kilo box of enormous fat dates on a whim and ate about a dozen. I felt soooo ill afterwards. I think I need to be more cautious about indulging my pregnancy cravings!

My sister is into seeing mediums and all that spooky stuff, and she said that a few weeks ago she had a reading and the medium told her there would be a new baby in the family, so she wasn't terribly surprised when I told her that I was pregnant a couple of weeks later. Now she's told me that the medium also told her what the sex of the baby would be, but my not-so-dear sis won't tell me what it is!!! gaaah. She said she wouldn't want to get me excited or make me disappointed but that's no fun I want to KNOOOW!

Carikube · 24/09/2009 16:12

Ok that's three afternoons in a row when comments have been made at tea groups etc about people getting pg with dc2 and I'm finding it really difficult to keep my mouth shut. Are DH and I the only ones stubborn enough to want to wait until the 12 week point before announcing the news to all and sundry or are there others who feel the same? (And general concensus at these groups is that anyone even thinking of having another one so soon after dc1 is being completely ridiculous )

Also DH quite surprised me last night by saying that he would like to find out the sex this time - I can't really imagine the thought of finding out in advance so I'm not sure whether to agree or not.

Stokey38 · 24/09/2009 16:31

Carikube, I'm with you - I am keeping well and truly quiet about being pregnant and won't go public until I have seen that 12 week scan picture. I was exactly the same with the DD as well. How old is your DC1?

Carikube · 24/09/2009 16:35

DD is 5 months so we still meet our antenatal group friends regularly and they all keep going on about how terrible it would be to have another baby anytime soon - it will certainly be interesting telling them the news when the time comes!

brightredballoon · 24/09/2009 16:37

Hi everyone

sorry to hear of those in limbo at the moment waiting for results etc, really hope everything goes well.

Yes, another carber over here! With DD i was sweet craving all along, icecream and puddings and biscuits. With DS it was carbs and savoury and ice lollies and it is again this time... I wonder if its another boy.

Been quite busy lately, really need to sort out all the kids and my old summery clothes and stock up on autumn (winter!) stuff. Think the toys could do with a good sort out as well, will enjoy doing all that.... NOT!!

It's a bank holiday up here this weekend, anyone doing anything nice? we are heading up north until Tuesday.

memorylapse · 24/09/2009 16:56

we are not making a public announcement until 12 weeks although we have told the children and DM..in light of my recent scan..it all seems tarnished with even more uncertanty now

VivClicquot · 24/09/2009 17:04

Hi guys

I'm not yet having any cravings at all - although my main symptom is that I now appear to be able to burp for Britain, despite never being a particularly windy person in the past.

However, I'm so bloody paranoid about fitting into my wedding dress that I'm constantly worrying about what I'm eating. I just pray that if and when the cravings do come, that it's for ice.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 24/09/2009 17:46

I'm bleeding a bit. Tiny bit of pink bloody discharge. Hope it's nothing. I'm not even registered with a midwife yet, do I need to tell anybody? or just tell the doctor if it gets worse?

memorylapse · 24/09/2009 17:56

Viv..I have the burping symptom too..along with the farting too!

James..the spotting may well be from a cervical erosion..maybe ring your gp to ask for advice?..Im sure its nothing ((hugs))

littleowls · 24/09/2009 17:58

Viv - I have the exact same problem. I never used to be able to burp, now it happens all the time. Yesterday, I had to run to the toilet as it made me sick!
When are you getting married?

Hello to all the new recruits x

Sending love to all x

cupcakefairy · 24/09/2009 18:09

Oh James sorry to hear that but could be nothing. I'd hang on for a bit to see what happens and if it gets any worse phone your local EPU they'll be able to advise you.

How lovely that you're getting married Viv, when's the big day?

ForcesSweetheart · 24/09/2009 18:41

awww hollyoaks don't cry! Besides I'll probably regain the whole lot with this pregnancy

cupcake and pamelat I'm so with you on the carbs, which isn't great for someone with diabetes but I can't stay away!

james I hope the spotting turns out to be nothing, it certainly doesn't sound like anything to be overly concerned about (I read lots about it when I had a bit of spotting at 6 wks). I'd go with what the others said and ring your GP. I wish my food cravings were as healthy as dates!! I'd be really proud of myself if my worst indulgence of the day was dates. I was speaking at our District Management Team Conference today at a hotel that provided lots of coffee, cakes and biscuits, and to quell my nerves about speaking I just ate and ate all day. Even grabbed a couple of pieces of cake at the end to bring home with me!

carikube if you really don't want to know don't let DH find out, coz you know he'll slip up and spill without thinking. I don't want to know but DH does, have told him I'll tell the sonographer he's not the father if he tries to get any info out of them when the time comes.

vivclicquot congrats on the wedding, when is it?? I have had an ice addiction for a long time, crunch my way through pints of the stuff every night - dya reckon there's any harm in it? I do wonder if getting so cold could cause any probs for baba.

sweetkitty · 24/09/2009 19:02

Hello fellow sickies, I have felt so rough today.

Well DD1 has noticed that I look pregnant, I was brushing my teeth today and she started stroking my belly and said "Mummy I think you have another baby in your tummy it's so big" I said "I think it's just chocolate cake" she said "no Mummy it's another baby" so if I 5yo can suss it I won't be fooling anyone much longer.

On a brighter note DD3 got her first pair of shoes today, my baby is growing up too fast!

So how is everyone else?

James - how far on are you now? Phone your loacl EPU for advice, they may book you in for an early scan.

carikube - so you will have 14 months gap, I am a big fan of small age gaps, I have 18 months between no 1 and 2 and it was quite hard but easier than the 2 1/2 years between 2 and 3, as no1 is still a baby theres no jealousy and if your changing one nappy might as well change 2. Mine are now 5 and nearly 4 and are the best of friends, in come ways they are like twins as they play with the same things and are into the same things. It makes life easier for me as they play so well together. Probably one of the reasons we are having no4 as I feel no3 would be left out and I want her to have a close sibling too.

cupcakefairy - like what you have done with the list

fancy some icecream now even though I feel sick.

charmbutterfly · 24/09/2009 19:06

Great job on the new list cupcakefairy!!

I too have been craving carbs by the boat load!! Yesteday i had this... count along with me:

  1. canneloni
  2. manicotti
  3. raviolli
  4. garlic bread
  5. tortellini

I'm so embarassed!!

James - hope it's all OK for you, are you going to phone the EPU?

I'm really looking forward to a close age gap I'm hoping it'll be easier having them all close in age once they're older, even if it's not easy when they're young - although Sweetkitty sounds very positive so I'm feeling very optimistic about it all

Viv When's your wedding? Very exciting!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 24/09/2009 19:35

I called NHS Direct and they said just to rest and keep an eye on it. If it gets worse or I get cramps etc to see an emergency doctor, but at this point it's probably nothing that bad but maybe to see my GP tomorrow. I kindof had a premonition dream about this the other day so it's freaked me out bigtime, and I'm sitting here worrying about every twinge in case I start getting cramps.

Hope everyone else is ok.

MooMoosmum · 24/09/2009 19:35

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome![grin[

Please can I be added to the list? Due 18th May with my second.

I had a 4th degree tear with my DS, so keen not to repeat this experience with my second. My Consultant has recommended an elective CS. BUT.....on seeing the local midwife today and telling her my history, she looked me up and down and said I clearly wasn't 'trying' hard enough the first time round to push DS out!

Of course I only thought afterwards of all the things I could have said....
