Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I am very happy to be here!

Sorry to hear about all the MS, my Mum suffered really badly so I thought I would too. But....as I said earlier, no real symptoms here and I'm hoping that it lasts. I know that 5 weeks is far too early for most symptoms. I had very few with DS and the whole process feels much the same so far. I feel a bit car sick occassionally but it doesn't last long. Last time I did suffer from sugar lows first thing so I'll have to make time to eat properly before work.

Hollyoaks · 21/09/2009 15:12

Hi to all the newbies, mumabee nice to see you from the June bus .

Wow, this thread moves fast. Had a bit of reading to do.

Went to gp this morning and have set up an appointment with midwife for wednesday morning. I thought this was a bit early for booking in but this is a group appointment which lasts an hour! Not sure what this entails and didn't have one with dd 2 years ago. Anybody been to one of these or heard of them?

glastochick · 21/09/2009 15:20

Hello ladies

Got my BFP on Saturday .

Am 2+5 (was an IVF conception so know the exact date), but would this make me 4+5 by conventional calculations? Not got an appointment with my GP until the 9th, but by my estimation baby is due on the 26th of May.

Is it too early for MS? Have had the first hint of queasiness today, but wondering if it is just in my mind?

Have been showing physical symptoms for nearly a week. A definite bloated stomach and thickening of the waist. I start off the day ok, but by the end of the day I'm visibly bigger. Towards the end of last week I was spending as much time as possible at work with my trousers undone. Have gone up to a bigger size pair of trousers this week although they look ridiculously baggy everywhere except the waist!

Congrats glastochick, glad to hear IVF worked for you.
Does that mean more chance of the sound of multiple pattering feet?

memorylapse · 21/09/2009 17:49

blimey..I cant beleive how chatty you all are! been away to center parcs for the weekend and there are pages to catch up on...the dc's had a fab time..and although I felt pretty poorly..I was enjoying being away from home..strangely enough..the only time I didnt feel too bad was when I was in the pool...when they put the wave machine on..I sat at the edge and let the waves lap over me..was like being on the beach..the last time though..I think they turned it up a notch because a huge wall of waves crashed into me and bowled me over..went all paranoid then that I had harmed bean in some way until DH reminded me that it is still tucked down in my pelvis..so couldnt possibly come to any harm..hope he is right..I should have got out of the pool really I guess.

Sorry to hear your news Spirael and good luck with TTC again

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 21/09/2009 18:36

Welcome back memorylapse, I was wondering how you were getting on in centreparcs with your hyperemesis! Glad you managed to have som fun despite it.

Welcome to the new folks, it's really getting busy now eh!

pamelat, no you don't have to retest, but the temptation is too strong for some of us pee-on-a-stickaholics who have cheap test strips hanging around. And it is quite reassuring and satisfying seeing the once faint barely there line replaced by a confident stripe of dark pink! We're a bit loony though, don't feel you have to. Once you've had your initial bfp, as long as you've had no symptoms to suggest otherwise, there's no reason to suppose you aren't pregnant.

Sorry, I don't know anything about folic iron. I take pregnacare and an additional folic acid tablet (I'm overweight, plus my ds had a small sacral dimple when he was born so taking a large dose to be safe)

pamelat · 21/09/2009 19:05

Special congrats glastochick

My friend is having IVF at the moment (and does not know about our news) but she will find out either way about herself in a week or so.

She has had to pay and can only afford up to 2 attempts. I have everything crossed for her.

Kaylo · 21/09/2009 19:59

Hi Everyone

I've just spent the last hour and a half reading through the bazillion pages that I've missed.

I have sobbed buckets at the sad sad news - MeanBeans, Jan9ne, Spirael (sorry if theres anyone else - my brain is on strike) I literally cried whilst reading every one of your posts - dh had to cuddle me better!! I'm so so sorry about your news.

to Hollyoaks - Hellooooo there friend from conception How are you?

Landed in England today at half 12 and as soon as we got in the car ready to go home dh's brother (our taxi ) announced that 4 of their cousins are having babies!! Or maybe it was 3? I'm absolutely in shock, and thrilled!!! I'm not sure when everyone is due yet but they're clearly all gonna be close together.

Barcelona was AMAZING I'm only a little bit tanned as we spent most of the days sightseeing rather than sunworshipping (which is my favourite time-passer usually Barcelona is simply stunning!!

Sex Of Baby - I originally didn't want to find out as with dd and ds I did and would like to know the feeling of having a surprise but dh wants to know, won't accept not knowing. And now I really want to know - although I'm 75% sure it's a girl despite having no rational reason for that thought

Bumps - I do have a definite bump albeit small and seemingly only noticeable to me as dh can't tell yet (I'm a tall chunky anyway ) But am having to wear my maternity trousers/jeans now as my normal stuff not cutting it (or rather they feel like they are cutting it)

Symptoms - Still no actual sickness. I'm getting a little worried now actually...

erm....have I missed anything else? I'm really sorry if I have but there was 10 bloody pages to read!!

xxxxxxxx

ForcesSweetheart · 21/09/2009 20:22

Sorry this is gonna be a long one as I try to catch up on all I've missed!

jan9ne spirael & meanbeans I'm so sorry you've had this happen. Wishing you all the best and sending big hugs.

I hope all those of you having spotting/cramps get some good news soon.

lizzie how awful about your friend, so young. No wonder you're taking it hard.

brightredballoon I get pains like that but MW and GP reckon it's just adhesions from all the abdominal surgery i've had (CS, gastric bypass, laparoscopy)

mummytoeli that's great news, so happy for you!

suey so sorry to hear about your dad, that's got to be really hard. I remember when I was pregnant and my nana was so ill we thought she was about to die, all she kept saying was "I just want to live long enough to see this baby" and it broke our heart coz we truly believed she wouldn't (she did and 4 years later is now saying the same about this one).

suey bessie & heffa I'm in the same boat as regards elective cs, unless the consultant has some overpowering argument - which i doubt he will. Unless they can tell me they're going to let me go til it happens naturally (not induce), allow me to be mobile - not strapped to a bed on a thousand drips and monitors, which I know will end up in another emergency cs. I was so depressed after DDs birth and how horribly it all went that I have no intention of going through that again. When I told midwife that she completely agreed it would probably be best but that it'd be up to consultant.

My booking appt with the midwife took ages, was in with her for over an hour and a half! She was lovely but won't be my named midwife, as she was just standing in while she was on holiday. Not that I'll probably have much dealing with the midwives as I'll be under consultant care and prob having an elective CS.

I've been feeling pretty nauseous whenever I go for more than a few hours without eating, so am having to eat little & often. I've already gained 3lb in the 3 weeks since my BFP! Got to rein this in, I can't bear the thought of regaining a lot of the weight I've lost.
I already look decidedly pregnant (even considering my still substantial amount of padding on my stomach). On a visit to a prospective school for DD today the school secretary asked me when I was due! I'm only 8 +1 today! I was too mortified to admit to May so I said April - telling myself it wasn't technically a lie as I'll be delivering 2 wks early coz of the diabetes etc! Bless her, she said "oh I was in ,maternity clothes at 11 weeks with my 2nd". If only I was 11 weeks. I don't feel half as bad after looking at your pic tho pigley lol that's a fabulous bump already, I'm thinking quadruplets!

Foodwise I've been craving Reeves the Baker's Cheesy Marmite bread, toasted with lashings of butter. mmmmm. Also slices of Quorn Ham with a big squeeze of Primula With Chives down the middle then rolled into a cigar shape. Got a letter from the hospital today saying my bloods came back with low iron and I should see my GP. Dreading it now coz I'm already taking 2 iron tablets a day on top of my pre-natal vit that has iron it, am terrified I'm going to need an infusion coz my old GP told me they're painful.

Re the sex, I don't want to find out, as I figure with a planned CS the date won't be a surprise so i'd like something to be! DH says he's going to ask the sonographer to tell him, I told him if he does I'll tell them he's not the father and they're not to tell him anything!

Sassles · 21/09/2009 20:37

Hi,

Was a mess at work today. Temper flaring then close to tears in under 30 secs. My poor male friend must have thought I was a pshyco. No-one at work knows and don't want them to for a while.

Minnimummy - you should look up the redundancy policy around being pregnant, I know that if you are on maternity leave they have to give you another role without interview if there is something suitable going.

Loads of friends are all trying to see me at the moment and trying to come up with excuses as will be hard to keep my big mouth shut. We are having high tea which means a glass of champagne and some crayfish sandwiches. how do I not eat/drink these without them guessing when I wolfed them down last time? Wouldn't mind them knowing, but one friend (bless her) can not keep a secret and would tell her mum, who is also a major gossip and it would be round the world in a day.

Sex of baby - Think I would need to know if offered.

I am 7+3 today, and don't have first antenatal till 5th Oct. Can I book for my scan now, before I see the midwife as I will be almost 10 weeks then and guess will then have a wait for my scan & going to Rome in week 12, so could be ages before I get my first scan. I live in Scotland in case it is different here. Who would I phone to ask?

charmbutterfly · 21/09/2009 21:00

HELLO LADIES

I am having a bit of a fit today!!

Had a urinalysis done and i have 15mg/dL of ketones in my urine and i am panicking!! Is that good, bad or indifferent??

FinalFurlong · 21/09/2009 21:09

hiya!
been in spain for, (it rained all week though) but still had a good time. will be the last holiday for a long old while we think!

still not having any real sickness which is a bit concerning.as i was sick as a dog by this stage with dd.

lovely to see so many people on the board!

still not managed to give up bfeeding dd, sigh!

sweetkitty · 21/09/2009 21:34

Just had some cheese on toast as Norris on Corrie had some and I just fancied it, diet today, fried egg sandwich with tea, banana, pineapple, grapes, chips for tea with lashings of vinegar, mayonnaise and ketchup, leftover tomato pasta, ice-cream, cheese on toast. That's not too bad is it? Still feeling constantly sick and shattered though.

memorylapse - I am sure the bean is fine tucked away in your pelvis safest place there is, when I think how many times DD2 jumped on me when I was pregnant with DD3 I shudder. Glad you managed to enjoy some of centerparcs.

Kaylo - glad you had a nice time in Barcelona

Forces - welcome back too glad you are doing well, DD2 goes to school next year too, she is so ready though. I think in some cases an elective csection is the way to go, it's your choice and you should be given the birth you want. All this trial of labour and VBAC stuff fine and well but I don't like the idea of women who have had traumatic births being forced into VBACs etc. You do whats best for you. I remember someone saying to me when I was pregnant with DD1 that your aren't a real woman unless you have a proper labour without an epidural, WTF??!!

Final furlong - welcome back too

charm butterfly - no idea sorry, google??!!

memorylapse · 21/09/2009 21:39

charm butterfly..have you got severe morning sickness?? that could cause ketones to appear in your urine..best person to speak to though is your gp

charmbutterfly · 21/09/2009 22:03

memorylapse

I..have..no..morning..sickness..at..all..really.Lucky..I..guess!

But..my..spaceb ar..on..laptop..stopped..working..lol

Gils · 21/09/2009 22:24

Sassles, I live in Scotland too and I know there is a place in Livingston that you can book early pregnancy scans, although you have to pay for it. I have my booing in appointment with midwife week tomorrow. Although this is my 2nd I never went through this phase before as ended up having few bleeds in early pregnancy and don't thik I followed normal pregnancy procedures. Can't wait till 12 week scan, seems so far away.

Went back to work today after 2 weeks holiday and now heading to bed. So tired and all I did was munch on grapes and snack a jacks.

When are you all telling your bosses. Mine has no people skills at all and always dread having to go to him with stuff like this. Told him I have appointment on Tuesday never told him it was with midwife.

MummytoEli · 22/09/2009 03:56

I thought I may escape it this time but no such luck, the dreaded morning (or should I say all day sickness) has arrived just like it was with DS having trouble keeping anything down but hey there are worse things that could be happening. Sending my well wishes and hugs to all those going through a difficult time try to stay positive much love xxx

Kaylo · 22/09/2009 07:23

Oh God!

I think I'm miscarrying. Started to bleed scarlet blood last night, called nhs who said don't worry. It started to ease but this morning there were clots.

I'll update later, I'm completely devastated and dh is in a state of shock - keeps saying don't worry but how can I not??

lizzie9442 · 22/09/2009 08:00

Kaylo - Poor you thats horrible, keep positive and try and get a scan today, fingers crossed for you xxxx

OP posts:
Hollyoaks · 22/09/2009 08:02

Oh Kaylo, I hope you and dh are ok. Try to stay calm and go and see your gp as soon as you can. Surely they can get you an early scan appointment for today?

I'm thinking about you, hope your next post is good news.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 22/09/2009 08:19

So sorry to hear that Kaylo I hope you're both OK and manage to get a scan or something soon.

The 12 week scan does seem like ages away now. My DSis had a mmc with her second baby and only found out at the scan so I'm very conscious of that

ForcesSweetheart - sorry you had a traumatic birth with your DD. It's such a horrible feeling afterwards isn't it?

I so don't look pregnant but I don't think I looked pregnant at 9 months with DD. I'm a big girl anyway so I think I just looked bigger!
