suey2 · 11/09/2009 14:41

Hello all,
My name's suey2 and I'm pregnant. I think! I am on holiday and I don't know how good the pg tests are here! The line is there, but faint.
Due 21/5 if all ok.
I have 1dd who's 20 months. I am 39 years old.
I am a physio.
Those with spd, what belts were you given? Some are rubbish, but the serola for early and Wiltshire for late seem to be the best. And there are ways to be proactive at this stage.

MinnieMummy · 11/09/2009 15:17

Suey what are the ways of being proactive?? I just used the horrible tubigrip for early stages and a big white velcro tentacled monster (like the wiltshire but with four arms each side!) for later. I know SweetKitty suffers badly from it too, have to say I am really cherishing being able to bend down at the moment and generally move about!!

Welcome Carbie, hello again Heffa (long time no see on July threads I think??), yey for Memorylapse and very sorry to hear your news Happycamper. Fingers crossed for next month.

Not feeling especially pg here other than getting exhausted really quickly if I don't eat little and often.

Hope all well

LuckyC · 11/09/2009 15:46

hi carbie Congratulations! I'm also a first-timer. There are some proper experts on this May 2010 train so you have come to the right place. How are you feeling? Has it sunk in yet? Have you been super-emotional?

lizzie Hope you are doing OK. Please try not to worry too much until you hear more. I had a friend of a friend in similar situation and all was well - will try find out more if you like? Good news about baby!

lizzie9442 · 11/09/2009 15:54

luckyc - thankyou it would be good if you could find out anymore. At least it all turned out well for her which is good xx

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 11/09/2009 16:16

memorylapse - oh bet you are so relieved

lizzie - no experience sorry but am sure there is someone on MN who can advise, good news on the heartbeat

james - I have had SPD from 15, 15 and 12 weeks, I didn't even know what it was the first time, the stroppy MW said "well backache is common in pregnancy" wasn't until I described what I was feeling on MN that someone said that's SPD. I am dreading it too, I had to think long and hard about TTC no4 because of it, we are just trying to put in place coping strategies. Mine is more in my right hip and in my Sacro-iliac joints at the back, I had physio but she said my joints were so mobile that whatever she did they just moved again and delivery was the only cure belts did nothing just annoyed me.

Welcome and congrats to suey and carbie you have come to the right place we can't half chat.

suey2 · 11/09/2009 16:44

Aye, there are limits to what you can do after it starts, but there is a lot you can do to prevent it. Eg my mate was on crutches for the second half of her pg and for the following year for her first, but no need at all for her second.
It all comes down to gluts and pelvic stabilizers. Lots of clams, bridges, avoiding leg crossing/ asymmetric activities. There is a really good website I'll look up and post a link to when I get back.
Tubigrip!?!?! Look up serola. £28.50 but good until bump too big.

Suey - I would love to see that link as I was told there was nothing to do to prevent it, nothing but delivery would make it better, mine is mostly round the back and in my right hip with some pain in my pubis joint in the front.

Kaylo - thanks for doing the list, last antenatal thread I was on there was 78 of us

brightredballoon · 11/09/2009 17:21

HappyCamper sorry to hear your news, good luck for next month xx

Tired and hormonal here too! And also a member of the cant stop eating crap club, I am trying to limit myself and force down fruit and veg but honestly I could live on marmite on toast and salt and vinegar crips! I was like this with DS, wonder if this one is going to be a boy too?

Hope everyone has a good weekend

alexw · 11/09/2009 17:22

Hi, can I join?? Due 6th May. No 2

Jan9ne · 11/09/2009 17:32

Wow - this thread is busy - i can't keep up! Congrats to all the new members.

memorylapse - i am so thrilled for you - i had a good feeling that things would work out for you.

Sorry to happycamper - lots of luck in the coming months...

My small amount of blood loss seems to have definitely stopped and now i am looking forward (sort of) to my scan next week. Still waiting to hear when it will be.

Kind of feeling a bit preggie now. v tired and kind of odd feeling - a bit discombobulated - v hard to describe. Someone mentioned curry - i really fancy one and gonna get dh to get one tonight!

So glad it's w/e - my turn for a lie-in tomorrow - wahay!

DorotheaPlenticlew · 11/09/2009 17:52

Memorylapse, hurrah! Just caught up on this thread after several days' absence and you have really had a roller-coaster ride; I'm glad it's turned out well.

I have been going to bed around 7:30 PM, basically as soon as DS goes into his cot -- could sleep all day too if allowed. Serious cravings for highly expensive Pret sandwiches at lunchtime; in the evenings the very thought of them makes me feel ill.

suey2 · 11/09/2009 18:04

Sweetkitty if you get the chance look up pelvic girdle pain (pgp) as that is the new phrase. Iirc it is a nhs Scottish website. I'll double check next week.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 11/09/2009 18:05

Pigley - oops, I do mean 17th May! D'oh!

MinnieMummy - I haven't been on the July thread for ages, I lost touch with it and don't have that time to catch up Can't believe how fast the time's gone!

I've been feeling worse every day so far, feeling really quite sick today. Not eating too much yet which is good.

brightredballoon · 11/09/2009 18:07

Suey2 CONGRATULATIONS!!! You know me from the Due December 07 thread but I have changed my name but you will remember me as I live where your parents do!!
I am due at the beginning of May
How's everything with you?

sweetkitty · 11/09/2009 18:08

suey - will do been a while since I looked anything on SPD or PGP as it's now called

HarryJoesMummy · 11/09/2009 18:26

Hi everyone can I join please? Got BFP this morning, still doesn't feel quite real tbh, but maybe joining this thread will help!

My stats are: 31, EDD 18th May, #2

I already have a DS1 who is 2 - his birthday is 27/5 so really hoping this baby arrives early (but not too early) otherwise it will crash DS1's 3rd birthday party!

Hi to all the names I recognise from the May bus!

charmbutterfly · 11/09/2009 18:41

Hi everyone!

I'm a first timer to this site and this is my first pregnancy! I would love to join you guys. I am so excited and sick that i don't know what to do with myself lol

I'm Due May 14th 2010, same as my husband's birthday!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 11/09/2009 18:51

Welcome and congrats to all the new folk joining the thread!

Suey, I doubt they do belts to fit me, I'm a size 26 before pregnancy. Last time I asked for help and they just said it was one of those things and by the time I got to actually see the physio I'd have probably given birth anyway (they said this at my 20 week appointment) are you talking about doing yoga positions to help?

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 11/09/2009 18:52

By the way, everything smells funny. I bought some lily incense in the hopes of making the place smell a bit nicer, but (I think) it smells of vomit. I've even looked round for vomit, I can smell it so clearly!

memorylapse · 11/09/2009 19:26

Congrats to everyone joining with BFP'S I can definitely say I feel pregnant now..I cant stop being sick..had to go to bed for a couple of hours just to get some relief from the sickness..woke up feeling vile..am sat her sucking ice cubes at the moment.

Suey..I had terrible PND in my last 2 pregnancies and didnt get any help..am really anxious about getting it again..it was agony

Meanbeansmum · 11/09/2009 19:37

Hi girls, welcome to the newbies, only read the last page, my eye is killing me so can't stay on her long toonight (I get episcleritis every now and then and it feels like my eyeball is going to fall out lol).

Suey, my pgp with ds2 was awful, I couldn't get up from sitting and I couldn't straighten up my back at one point! With dd after that it was managable, no idea why there was such a difference with the 2 pregnancies. I hope I avoid it this time. Welcome and congrats!

Meanbeansmum · 11/09/2009 19:38

James, the nhs gave me a serola that fitted me (I'm a big girl too, I'm all bum hips and bopobs lol). It was an adjustable multisize one. HTH!.x
