Thanks girls, for letting me start this thread - bloody MACs (obviously could be user error!)

Went to the docs yesterday and he thinks may be a Feb 1st baby - but 2nd babies are often early - hope they are as dd was 9 days late - hence I am in the Oct rather than Sept post-natal thread!

Hope to hear from the midwife soon as I will want to book a CVS as I am now 38 - had one with dd last year.

Has anyone got a closer age difference that I will hopefully have - there will only be nearly 16 months between dd and dd2/ds - eeeek!

Welcome to all the other newies

I suppose that is one 'good' thing about having had a m/c...people don't constantly ask if I'm pregnant because I'm on decaf/tee-total/look like sh@te

Rachey1969 · 01/06/2005 17:01

Poor Teuch - surely not! If I didn't work at home mainly, I couldn't have kept it a secret for five minutes. Mind you, I have to do a timesheet for May now and I don't know what I'm going to put on it!

spub · 01/06/2005 19:28

Hi gals,
Have been offline for a couple of days. Hope all is going okay for you and I'm really feeling for you, Milosmum.
I too am bleeding at the moment. Started yesterday morning and has continued all day today. Now more like a period and I have a feeling that this wee baby might not happen. The early pregnancy unit have been nice but won't see me til Monday morning as I'm 6 weeks today and they say that that's too soon to see anything and so wouldn't help.
I have taken today and tomorrow off work (don't work Fridays or Mondays) as I can't face going in whilst I may be having a miscarriage.
Am hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Had a small bleed with dd at 6 weeks but that was less than this one and didn't last as long so I'm not too hopeful.
The next 4 days are going to be long ones!
I'll let you know how it all goes.
Meantime, all of you take good care.

hotmama1 · 02/06/2005 08:40

Oh Spub - so sorry to read your post. As they say it's not over until the fat lady sings - so hopefully there will still be hope.

How are you feeling? I'm around most of today if you want any kind of chat.

Chuffed · 02/06/2005 09:14

spub
Hugs and here's hoping for the best. Some people have 'periods' while pregnant so lots of good wishes going out.
Sitting eating Doritos and drinking lucozade this morning, just craving salty food again as I did with dd. People at work are really going to think something is up soon.

hotmama1 · 02/06/2005 09:27

I know it's bizarre but I feel a bit worried because I haven't got any symptoms - apart from a missed period!

I felt a bit sicky last week - think this was mainly because of fear though

With dd I had tender breasts from the start but I suppose I didn't really feel sick until weeks 6 to 10.

I suppose I should feel grateful that I am feeling fine but weirdly want to feel like something is going on to prove my hormones are doing their job - think I might just feel spooked by milosmum and spub's news You just don't think this will happen and the positive test results in a lovely dd/ds - I think I need a bit of a reality check.

Does anyone else feel like this? Just crossing off everyday until 12 weeks and crossing everything else at the same time?

OP posts:
Chuffed · 02/06/2005 10:03

totally - I'm hating feeling crappy but in a funny way it is a relief. I'm terrified too Hotmama, have some different symptoms to last time, no sore boobs at all this time and feel sicker than I did with dd.
It is 30% chance of miscarriage prior to 12 weeks so we have everything crossed in our house, hoping for the best.

Rachey1969 · 02/06/2005 10:09

Oh poor Spub I hope the bleeding settles, pregnancy is so stressful! Try not to worry Hotmama - some people get barely any symptoms. Roll on 12 weeks for all of us Is everyone else on holiday this week?

hotmama1 · 02/06/2005 10:19

I'm still on maternity leave as dd is not quite 8 months - hence I reiterate - this was an unplanned pregnancy but we are happy if a little shocked.

So half-terms don't mean anything at the moment - only more traffic on the roads.

I just need to stop worrying and chill out. Seeing the midwife next week for my booking appointment - she is going to larf as I only saw her a few weeks ago when having dd weighed at the clinic and said she would see me soon (and winked) I said perhaps next year - but she must have a sixth sense!

Rachey1969 · 02/06/2005 10:48

I don't think you ever stop worrying! I'm (officially) working myself this week (at home with kids around/in and out) but it seems very quiet on here...

Chuffed · 02/06/2005 11:03

I was thinking the same thing Rachey, people must be out and about with the kids i suppose.

Rachey1969 · 02/06/2005 13:36

Just spotted a message from Milosmum on one of the conception threads - she has lost the baby . If you read this Milosmum - I'm sure all our thoughts here on the Jan threat are with you -please take care of yourself.

hotmama1 · 02/06/2005 16:49

Milosmum Am thinking of you so take good care of yourself.

spub · 02/06/2005 19:07

Hi all,
Thanks so much for the nice messages of support - I'm really sorry to hear the news from Milosmum and am also sorry to be freaking anyone out with my news...
The bleeding has more or less stopped today which is a huge relief in itself. I feel much brighter today and whilst I'm not sure that I feel any more optimistic it's maybe just that I've got my head around things and am prepared to deal with the worst if it does come to pass.
The first few weeks are always a bt fraught - there's so much to worry about in amongst all of the wonderfulness!
Take good care of yourselves and the bumps to be. I'll post again if there's any news between now and Monday - otherwise after my scan at 8.30am.
Thanks again for the support and sympathy - it does actually really help.

HunkerMunker · 02/06/2005 19:11

Milosmum - I'm so sorry, hun.

Spub, glad to hear things are more positive for you [phew emoticon]

I'm feeling really in limbo - very sick, very sore boobs and nipples (not much fun as DS is still breastfeeding). I'm really pleased I am feeling sick though - I felt a bit better yesterday morning and had backache and was a bit scared. But today it's back with a vengeance and I'm shattered too.

Just can't wait for my first scan - I need to see this baby to make it real (had had three scans by 12 weeks last time) and I'm so hoping everything's OK.

milosmum · 02/06/2005 19:56

spub · 02/06/2005 21:22

MilosMum - (((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))
Gutted for you. Hope you have some happy news again soon. I'll let you know how things go.
Take care and be kind to yourself.
Lots of love.

hotmama1 · 03/06/2005 09:06

Big hugs to Milosmum.

Spub - haven't freaked me - it's just you 'forget' about the risks and just don't think that they happen (but obviously they do - must stop being an ostrich).

Really hope everything is going O.K for you - looking forward to hearing about a positive scan on Monday.

Hope everyone is feeling O.K. I'm beginning to feel sicky again - and I'm glad (I'm going to be so sorry)

Morning all. It does seem as if there's something in the air. I had to go to A&E o Wed night as started to bleed. Back to Early Preg Unit on Thurs morning. Had scan and thank goodness the little critter is haging in there. Scared the pants off me as had no bleeds with DD.

Am so so sorry to hear news about Milosmum. Can feel tears pricking in my eyes as I write. And Spub, hope everything better with you now too. And please let us know news about your scan.

To coin an awful Americanism - I feel as if a huge group hug wouldn't go amiss right now. All of us need wrapping in cotton wool and some TLC for a little while.

Hugs and love, baby glue, sick buckets and weird food cravings going out to all of you.

Chuffed · 03/06/2005 10:14

Glad everything is OK Georgie - fingers crossed for you Spub.
These first 12 weeks are so hard and I think yes we bury our heads like an ostrich and just hope it doesn't happen to us.
I think a big group hug is in order ((((hug))))

Still feeling more crap than I did with dd, not sure what that means - am just hoping it doesn't mean that this one will be harder work as dd has been really easy, and I had a really easy time during pregnancy.

Rachey1969 · 03/06/2005 10:43

What an awful week for everyone! Glad everything is ok Georgie and hope it goes well for you too, Spub. I think this thread needs some luck and babydust now PLEASE! I'm amazed how many people bleed in early preg and thankfully do go on to term. I bled myself at 9 wks (which is what I am now!!) with ds1 and how I cried when I saw his little heartbeat on the scan. Life is very cruel.

My poor old dad is very ill at the moment, (he is severely demented, can't walk or talk, is doubly incontinent and on top has prostate cancer). He has been like this for five years now and as a family we have to make the decision not to intervene (ie give him antibiotics), only palliative care. I pray that he holds on till we see him next week - I'd like to tell him (not that he will know) that he is have his 8th grandchild.

Rachey1969 · 03/06/2005 10:44

Sorry that is so depressing! Have to be positive - circle of life and all that!

Chuffed · 03/06/2005 11:54

Rachey hoping for all the best for you - what an awful week it's been.

GeorgieM · 03/06/2005 13:00

Rachey, am so sorry to hear about your Pa. You must be worried sick.

I think we should all just take it easy this weekend.
