Thanks girls, for letting me start this thread - bloody MACs (obviously could be user error!)

Went to the docs yesterday and he thinks may be a Feb 1st baby - but 2nd babies are often early - hope they are as dd was 9 days late - hence I am in the Oct rather than Sept post-natal thread!

Hope to hear from the midwife soon as I will want to book a CVS as I am now 38 - had one with dd last year.

Has anyone got a closer age difference that I will hopefully have - there will only be nearly 16 months between dd and dd2/ds - eeeek!

Welcome to all the other newies

milosmum · 27/05/2005 20:00

i ve still got the one i did for my DS, whos now 4!!! i ve put it in his memorabliia box with his belly button clip, hospital braclets, etc.

Well done another test(god im obsessed) and that is a Bright BFP!!!! doctors have got to be wrong as the days have gone on its got clearer and clearer- good sign right???

hunkermunker · 27/05/2005 20:03

MM, deffo a good sign - might be you OVd late in yout cycle?

milosmum · 27/05/2005 20:21

not sure ive been charting with FertiltyFriend and i got a +ov on the 13th and CM and temp rise so it all confirms i ovd around the 14/15th. I did nt get a + preg test until 17dpo as i knew i was- just kept getting BFN. My temp never went down after ov and my CM stayed......

all a bit puzzling- really annoyed that i cant go to the doctors 2morrow (obviously closed)- will have to wait until tuesday! will take my "sample" in first thing!!

i know i am- i have 6 tests to prove it. in a way i could understand it if they were all the same brand (faulty batch or something) but the are 5 different brands- so it has to be right!! and the line is getting darker and darker each test.

spub · 27/05/2005 22:29

Anally retentive virgo here.
GP confirmed pregnancy this am but we didn't do dates! By my reckoning I'm due Jan 25th so just before/after a couple of you!I see my antenatal "team" a week on weds to get "booked in"
Weather crap in Scotland today and my dd (2 and a bit) was daughter of "Chuckie" today...They seem to sense those days when you really don't need the grief and then pile it on!
Not feeling sick yet and wondering when it will hit! Could sleep at any time and in any place, though!
Have a great weekebnd, y'all!

sweetkitty · 27/05/2005 22:54

hiya just catching up have spent the say in sunny London 32 degrees!! indoors packing boxes and defrosting my fridge and freezers, far too warm to be doing all of this.

Well we're all off to Scotland tomorrow for good so off with the summer clothes on with the jumpers. Not looking forward to the journey 8 hours with DD and 3 cats not to mention DP. Will be offline for about a week will have loads of catching up to do.

Oh I'm a Leo 30th birthday in August (alcohol free ) EDD 12th January as well!

Take care all sending loads of baby glue for us all. See you when I'm in Scotland.

Mak · 28/05/2005 08:51

Rachey, just had a thought if you want a nuchal it has to be done between 11-14 wks. so, (devious mind going overtime) you could try playing that card to get an earlier scan for dating. Only a thought

chezie · 28/05/2005 09:19

Good morning all, Sweetkity should be on her way to Scotland now...rather her than me, I think I would be puking all the way!
Hotmama1.. I kept my p+sitive pg tests from DS2 and this pg but when I got pg with DS1 it never occured to me to keep the test and I really wish I had. Not feeling too sick this morning just tired. Hope evryone is feeling well today.

mankyfeet · 28/05/2005 11:32

hello everyone

spangles · 28/05/2005 11:49

Hi there everyone.

spangles · 28/05/2005 11:50

I am new to all this. Anyone out there about 7 wks pg?

Rachey1969 · 28/05/2005 12:52

Hi everyone - well the sun has gone! Just as well as feeling poo, waiting for dp to come back from work to go back to bed!

Don't worry Milosmum - I had 2 bfp with my dd then the GP test came back negative a week later!

Good luck for the journey Sweetkitty!

Welcome Mankyfeet (when are you due?) and Spangles - congratulations and great names!

Mak - I'm a devious thought ahead of you already - kinda mentioned this to midwife who I think could read my mind! I'm really not sure I want the chromosone tests and she said the nuchal scan wasn't available here anyway but that she would probably send me for dating - as you say, you do need accurate dating for the tests and it's taking away my choice isn't it? It seems unfair to have to wait for 18 wks (too late to accurately date then). I don't want this baby forced out against his or her will!

Hope everyone else is well

Eshay · 28/05/2005 13:00

Hi all, not feeling as bad as some of you but I do have a slightly sicky taste in my mouth and feel like eating loads of salty crisps. I think I may have to run down to the shop to get some. I was also feeling quite faint earlier but I'm not sure if that was because I'm pg or because I was cleaning and dressing dh wound. He's such a sweetheart, he ran the bath for me and washed my back, all done hopping on his good leg!

Spangles, I just received my 7 week email from Babycentre so must be close to your edd. Mine is 19 Jan.

I kept ds's test stick until a month ago or so. We have just moved house and I felt the need to clear some stuff. So now I don't have his stick, but I have a new one for db.

We haven't told our parents yet as both sets have been away on holiday. Mine are in Turkey to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary so I sent them a card with a special card inside. I hope it will arrive before they leave on Monday. So far I haven't heard anything from them. DH's parents were in Paris for a week and we didn't want to tell them I was pregnant on top of them having to deal with dh's operation or they might have cancelled their trip. We're hoping to see them this weekend so we can tell them. I will feel so much better once people know, especially dh's brother and wife, as they are expecting themselves.

Rachey1969 · 28/05/2005 13:23

I did keep the sticks for a bit - maybe until they were born? I have their hospital tags, one tiny little hat from the labour ward and a gas and air mouthpiece that I bit through! I'm generally really bad at 'baby book' type things, I have forgotten first teeth etc. I have a hundred pictures of ds1, loads of ds2 and none taken the day my dd was born!

We are going to tell dp's mum on Monday (she's a nurse so quite sensible and reassuring although I am expecting some hysteria - this will be grandchild number one for her - number 8 for my mum!) Still stalling with most people because of my other kids, last time my eldest was nearly 4 - it's quite different telling him now he's 11 - I'm not sure how they will react altogether but I can't bear the thought of having to tell them bad news. DS2 is upset that his sunflower has died! Anyone else got a similar predicament?

hotmama1 · 28/05/2005 13:59

Hi everyone!

I am really beginning to feel sick - but luckily just in the evenings. I was like this with dd but it didn't start this early. I never was actually sick last time so I hope history repeats itself. When I feel crap I try to remember this is a good thing as it means hormones are working well - so I hope everything is going O.K.

Yesterday, we told dp's mum and my mum - and they were both a bit "Whatever!" feel quite upset at this - it's like yeah you've already had one so no big thing - cows! Anyone else had similar reactions?

Luckily, by bruv and sis had diff responses today, my bruv is ecstatic (we have always been very close as only 21 months between us) my sis who is 30 weeks pregnant thought it was highly hysterical but is really happy for me!

Hope you are keeping well and enjoying the sunshine. Hello to the newies!

rachey- i feel so much better now knowing someone else was told "No" by the doctors. Wonder how they test then??? as i did another(another waste of a fiver!)this mornong and that was +. the lines on all my tests are still there.......no worrying now- i KNOW im pregnant and will just take it to the docs on tuesday.....

id forgotten how exhaused i was with DS until 10wks- it appears im the same with this little one...

milosmum · 28/05/2005 15:18

oh hotmama- just read your post!!!. you do find people only go over the top with first borns. However we ve just told my mother and father in law and they are exstatic (they never thought we d have any let alone be on No 2).

Not told anyone else yet but i think your parents should have been a little more excited. i feel abit lost when it comes to times like these as i dont have my parents around (and haven t done since i was 16 ), so its lucky i have such a lovely in law.

hunkermunker · 28/05/2005 15:38

HM1, I loved the part of your post about always being close to your bro because there's only 21 months between you - that's the gap there'll be between DS and this little one if all goes to plan Hard work, but I keep hearing it makes for close siblings - fingers crossed!

spangles · 28/05/2005 17:03

Hello again, there didnt seem to be anyone around earlier so i thought I would post again later but just havent got round to it! I think I am due around 10th Jan. Had 2 scans but not given proper date till 12 wk scan. I have never been as tired in my life as I am now. Not been sick just feel slightly nauseas ( excuse my spelling) Is anyone else considering tests for downs CVS and Amnio?

AngelCakeUmm · 28/05/2005 17:21

Hi everyone i see we have moved threads

Congratulations and welcome to all the newbies

Well i am still here just about, i am hanging in there but feeling quite sick still.
I get moments through the day where i start to feel faint i start sweating and feel really really sick it happened today in the car and i thought i was gonna die

I can feel my belly is hard down low and i have a tiny lump there now, nearly 7 weeks but

I have my first anti-natal appt on 8th June with my doctor, and then i think i see the MW at about 10 weeks.

By the way i still do pregnancy tests now as i a still in dis-belief i done one yesterday and have done about 5 so far

Goodluck with your ove sweetkitty and hope to see you back on here soon

Rachey i have decided you can be my online MW/DOC as you seem to know what your talking about and have great advice and help

Anyway i must go now i will try and pop back more often just not feeling to great.

Take care all and lots of baby glue your way xx

milosmum · 28/05/2005 19:24

hi all- the panic is over!!! i did get my dates wrong!! therefore im only 4w+4 and due on 31st jan..... i was charting on FertilityFriend but kept a log in my diary also- id gone off the wrong one and gained 5 days. That would explain way the doctors came back as negative- not enough HCG. but there will be by tuesday.

Not feeling too bad today-just tired and some slight stretching pains....

hotmama1 · 28/05/2005 20:19

Spangles - I will be having a CVS and I think Lyra41 is considering one as she started a post about whether it hurts.

I had a CVS with dd last year as I am now 38 and therefore any risks will have increased - but it is a personal choice thing - as there are miscarriage risks - slightly higher with a CVS than an amnio but it is done earlier. Look at this way if you answer the question what would you do if there were any abnormalities - with a nothing - then I wouldn't have an invasive test because of the risks etc.

I made the decision if everything was O.K. I would ask to know the sex - got it confirmed at 14 weeks as they have to grow a cell culture so I knew 100% it was a she!

Luckily, everything was O.K. last time so I didn't have to make any difficult decisions - but it is going to be hard and emotional this time around as I have dd.

If you need to know anything I am happy to share my personal experience.

Hope I haven't offended anyone with this topic.

Hope everyone is keeping well.

Hotmama1, I seemto have misplaced my leaflet on tests in pg... do amnoi and CVS tell you different things? what are the recovery times like from each of these proceedures (I need a dictionary)
I never had these tests in my last pgs coz I was 30 and 33 when I gave birth, but I will be 35 this time and am wondering if I should consider them this time round.I will be 8-9 wks at next consultant appt, and i will mentionit to him.

milosmum · 29/05/2005 17:23

morning

i ve just read in a baby mag that we should nt be eating pre packed salads- anyone know why? its only been 4 yrs since DS but so many things have changed...

Eshay · 29/05/2005 18:31

With my first pg (2003,2004) the story was to wash pre-packed salads, even though the packaging says they have been washed and are ready to eat. Once I even saw a sign in Sainsbury's advising customers to wash pre-packed salads; all customers, not just pregnant ones.

I kind of understand why maybe it's better to steer clear of them. The salad goes slimey very quickly. And there are probably bad little creatures growing on it before it gets to the slimey stage. Best not to buy greens for too many days at once.

We told dh's parents today and they were very excited about our news. They're happy I'm due in Jan and not much later as they are moving back to NZ in April. I still don't know whether my parents received their card so I don't know whether they know about our little sprout yet.

angelcakeumm · 29/05/2005 18:33

Eshay i think your due on the sae day as me?
