Thanks girls, for letting me start this thread - bloody MACs (obviously could be user error!)

Went to the docs yesterday and he thinks may be a Feb 1st baby - but 2nd babies are often early - hope they are as dd was 9 days late - hence I am in the Oct rather than Sept post-natal thread!

Hope to hear from the midwife soon as I will want to book a CVS as I am now 38 - had one with dd last year.

Has anyone got a closer age difference that I will hopefully have - there will only be nearly 16 months between dd and dd2/ds - eeeek!

Welcome to all the other newies

Wonder if I can join you girls? I think I'm due end of Jan beginning of Feb but as everything else has been all over the place, I'm not really too sure. I already have ds who is 2 1/2. He was slightly unplanned but loved all the same. I don't remember feeling so irritable at this point last time round; it's almost as if I've got really bad PMT, especially where ds is concerned. Is this normal? Have also been feeling really yucky today. Sorry to sound so miserable - just really fed up of DS having grown horns over the last few days.

Rachey1969 · 03/06/2005 13:24

Thanks for your kind thoughts, sorry to be so depressing! He has been ill for a long time now and we are very used to worrying. We are praying for a merciful release and an end to his suffering.

On a positive note, my dp parents came round this morning with a huge bunch of flowers for me I don't think men ever realise how things like that can give us a real lift!

Had my blood forms this morning to take to have done at the same time as first scan - dp dad is a haematologist there so it could be him doing them which is a weird thought?

Hope everyone has a peaceful and relaxing weekend!

Rachey1969 · 03/06/2005 13:27

Hi Fonzie, welcome and congratulations! Don't worry I feel sick, tired, tearful and totally up and down emotionally. My poor kids (11,9,7) don't know I'm pregnant yet so they're just having to put up with moody mum! I am trying to counter the snapping with some extra cuddles - they grow up too fast!

Fonzie · 03/06/2005 13:35

Hi Rachey, I must admit, DS has been getting lots of cuddles but even my DH says that he's grown horns over the last few days. Maybe it's something to do with the fact he's getting less and less sleep just now. We live in NE Scotland and are lucky if we have 2 hours of darkness through the night at the moment. Also, he's so keen to tell us that his nappy is dry that it doesn't occur to him to go back to sleep after. I am, however, grateful for the fact that he is nearly totally dry. I can't have my cake and eat it. At least we're off on holiday tomorrow; maybe DH's presence will have a calming effect on all concerned.

Rachey1969 · 03/06/2005 13:41

Aw, how sweet, I expect it's just terrible twos! No-one is keeping me up at night but I'm sleeping really badly - combination of bladder calling and bizarre vivid dreams!

Have a great holiday and let Daddy take the strain! Take a good book and put your feet up

spangles · 03/06/2005 18:41

Hi everyone
So sorry to hear about milosmum I have been there twice and its so upsetting.
I havent been around much this week, DS not at nursery and DH off work so loads of work to do looking after them!
I am still really tired, DS2 is 1 year old and still doesn't sleep through the night. He still wants BF during the night. I am going to have to get tough on him and let him cry himself back to sleep ( although I have tried and failedid
d at controlled crying coz I always crack.. 2 hrs is the longest hes cried for and then he did go to sleep) Hope every one out there is feling well.
I keep having a bottle of lucozade in the morning
to ease the nausea! keep well girls

lyra41 · 03/06/2005 22:24

Hi gals

Just got back from hols in gorgeous New Quay in Cardiganshire, Wales. Just the yucky unpacking and washing to contend with now.

So sad to hear about Milosmum, needless to say, but hard not to.

I'm due to have a dating scan next Wed, when according to my dates I'll be 10 1/2 weeks, so that I can have the CVS test done the following week. Not looking forward to that, but as I'm aged 40, I think it would be wise.

I've not told my kids yet either Rachey, it's wierd isn't it. Can't wait to tell them, will wait for good results from CVS first.

My dh keeps worrying about practical issues, like will we have to buy a bigger car - probably, although we can just about manage with the one we've got.

And I'm trying (and failing) not to think ahead too much in case the results of the CVS are not good. I've thought of names already, prams, washable nappies, so you can see the extent to which I'm failing!

Need to go and badger dd to go to bed now, as I want to go there too!

Look after yourselves

angelcakeumm · 04/06/2005 13:57

hunkermunker · 04/06/2005 14:01

Hi all

I went for my first antenatal appointment yesterday afternoon (got a cancellation - yay!), so I'm in the system.

I've been given w/c 20th June to make my 11-13 week scan appointment, but by my reckoning, I'll only be 10 weeks at the very most then (and quite probably less).

Angelcakeumm, is the reason your friend's having another scan because the first one was done too early? Think that might happen to me.

Felt very sick yesterday, but less so today.

Almost retched in a meeting at work last week - what a way to announce my pg! Didn't though - still a secret - want to keep it that way if poss till after my first scan.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

AngelCakeUmm · 04/06/2005 14:05

Hi Hunkermunker,

Yes she thought she was 12 weeks but when she got there they could not find baby, then all of a sudden they found baby but it was only 3cm and they said she was only 9 weeks not 12. So yes she has to go back when she will be 12 weeks so they can do the more detailed scan.
When you due Hunkermunker?

hunkermunker · 04/06/2005 14:07

By dates, I'm due on 14th January (LMP 9th April) but by my reckoning, more like 27th January as I have a long cycle (42-50 days).

Rachey1969 · 05/06/2005 10:04

Hi everyone! I have a scan date at last - dating scan on June 22nd (only 2 1/2 weeks...!) I would be 12 weeks by dates then (but I could be less). My ebay jane matrix pushchair has arrived and we have had a little play with it I know it's early but it was a bargain (£105 in immaculate condition - £400 new). Have put it away now but not before other kids accidentally saw it! my ds1 (11) said 'Mum- I could see a pram through the window - is there a baby in it?' I said 'er, no - the pram has just been delivered here cos I was in...' (I'm waiting for him to say who on earth does it belong to then? I must invent someone).

Still feeling really sick (and being sick) but I'm trying to welcome that hormonal feeling Dad is hanging in there as usual.

Hope everyone else is good? How are you Spub?

spub · 05/06/2005 18:04

Hi Rachey,
Doing okay, thanks. It's nice of you to ask .
Not too long to go now until the scan and then I'll at least know what's happening one way or the other! Am hoping for the best but prepared(ish) for the worst....
Will post asap once I get back from the hospital.
Good news about the bargain! How's things with your dad today?

Tabs · 06/06/2005 07:11

Spub - just wanted to wish you all the best for your scan this morning. Hope it brings good news.

lyra41 · 06/06/2005 08:01

Rachey

My dd guessed about the pg last night. She sent me a note whilst I was in bed resting abut 8pm - Mum are you pregnant? Well I didn't want to lie to her, so I said yes, and then it didn't feel right her knowing and my ds not knowing. So now they both know, and they're very excited. I just hope everything works out OK. I have said to them to try not to get too excited because lots of babies don't make it past the 12 weeks stage, but it's hard not to get excited. Just 2 weeks to go to get to the magical 12 weeks, so all being well we can start to relax into excitement and anticipation.

Spub - thinking of you and your scan today. Have said a prayer. xxx

hotmama1 · 06/06/2005 08:56

Big crossed fingers and positive vibes to Spub.

Starting to feel sicky again - yippee - means the hormones are working (hopefully).

Hope you all have a happy and healthy day.

Chuffed · 06/06/2005 09:10

Good luck with your scan spub - lots of positive thoughts going out your way.
Feeling more and more crappy, just hope there is no correlation between how crap you feel in the first 12 wks and how difficult the baby is.
Have taken to carrying sweets with me everywhere I go so I can have a quick up blood sugar wise and needed two after spinning this morning as I was feeling so grim.

Rachey1969 · 06/06/2005 09:55

Good luck with the scan Spub! My dad has taken a turn for the worse and developed pneumonia, he's not expected to make it this time although death will be a blessing for him. I'm taking the kids out of school for a week and going down to my Mum's. As my ds2 said 'this is both a happy and a sad opportunity...' (bless) because my sister (a midwife) is coming over from NZ and we haven't seen her for 2 1/2 yrs. Told my mum on the phone about my pregnancy (I had to explain all the hormonal blubbering) and she sounded really pleased for me which was nice. Be nice to get some R & R from the family and some advice from big Sis!

Have a good week all!

hotmama1 · 06/06/2005 14:46

Rachey1969 for your dad. It's strange this circle of life thing isn't it. When I found out I was pregnant in Jan 04, my dp's dd got diagnosed with cancer the very next week and died 3 weeks after the birth of dd - she was the first grandchild.

How's it going Spub? Really hope you had a positive scan [hugs] x

OP posts:
spub · 06/06/2005 15:48

Hi guys,
Just wanted to post very quickly as my dd is on the rampage - more able to chat later, hopefully!
Had the scan and they can't see a sac. They are now looking at a couple of different scenarios as I have had 2 positive pg test results.
One scenario is that I am pregnant but not as far on as I think and so there's nothing to see yet. Another is that I am pregnant but it's ectopic.
They took blood and I have to go back at 9am on Weds to have another blood test. These tests will indicate whether my hormone level is increasing or decreasing. If they are decreasing then I may have miscarried.
Feel a bit numb, to b e honest. Was hoping that after today I'd have some conclusive info and know what I was dealing with one way or the other. As it is, I don't feel any the wiser except I'm now also worrying about an ectopic.
Thanks for all of your good wishes - it means a lot.
Hope you are all okay and I'll be back on the boards later.

  • Phone has just rung and it's the hospital to say that my hormone levels are very low - only 154 (dunno if that means anything to anyone there!) The midwife says she thinks this indicates a strong likliehood of miscarriage but the next blood test will tell. If I have miscarried then the levels will have halved by Weds. TBH, I am "happier" with this likliehood than an ectopic. More later. Cheers for now lovely ladies.
hotmama1 · 06/06/2005 15:57

Spub, I really hope it's that you're not as far along as you thought. Really hope you have good news on Wednesday. Big cyberhugs coming your way. XX

Hi guys,

Hope your news is good, Spub.

Hope the rest of you are doing as well as can be expected.

I just wanted to check if anyone else has had smelly pee? It's also quite been quite uncomfortable during intercourse, like, stingy? Is that thrush?

Also, I've got this distended belly going on, went shopping at lunchtime and my tummy's going out the way but I'm only coming up for wk8. Is that normal at this stage, is it bloating?

Cheers,

Elly

GeorgieM · 06/06/2005 18:29

Hi ladies. How is everyone? Had a v quiet w/e on docs orders. DD with her father so me and dp put our feet up and did pretty much sweet FA! Did go and see Sin City at the movies.... wouldn't recommend it. So violent it made me retch!

Spub, am so sorry to hear about your news. I bet you're on tenter hooks waiting for next set of results. But as you say, it might be the lesser of two evils. Whatever happens am sending many hugs and my love.

Rachey, sounds as if you're going thru the wringer as well. Never know what to say in these situations so I'll just send love and hugs to you.

Welcome to the newbies.

Elly, can't help you on the smelly pee or sex.... can honestly say that if dp tried to bounce about on top of me at the mo I'd prob puke over him!

Oh, and think I've found something to rival the efficacy of Lucozade..... Actimel. Have spent the week puking four times a day and feeling queasy from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep. Drank some Actimel in the morning and it really seems to have calmed my tummy. Only puked twice today (in the morning) and have managed to keep lunch and tea down.....so far!

truckerkaz · 06/06/2005 18:42

hi, i'm so glad ive never been a sicky mum! i'm pregnant with baby no.5 all well so far

GeorgieM · 06/06/2005 19:21

Hi Truckerkaz and welcome...... baby number 5? Good god, I salute you! I thought Rachey was doing well with 3 and one on the way!

Any tips for us?
