Thanks girls, for letting me start this thread - bloody MACs (obviously could be user error!)

Went to the docs yesterday and he thinks may be a Feb 1st baby - but 2nd babies are often early - hope they are as dd was 9 days late - hence I am in the Oct rather than Sept post-natal thread!

Hope to hear from the midwife soon as I will want to book a CVS as I am now 38 - had one with dd last year.

Has anyone got a closer age difference that I will hopefully have - there will only be nearly 16 months between dd and dd2/ds - eeeek!

Welcome to all the other newies

yes I'm thanking my lucky stars I'm fit and healthy but feel for those who are heavily pregnant or need help and have long walks.
Isn't it awful.
Glad your brother and his wife are OK.

GeorgieM · 07/07/2005 19:34

Hi ladies. So glad everyone OK. Had a jittery morning too. Left home with DP to go to hospital for nuchal scan and by the time we'd got there it'd been confirmed that it was a terrorist attack. Bought back memories of being in NYC and in hospital on 9/11. All v surreal. V tearful remembering how it felt.

Everything OK with the nuchal - phew. And Beany v active and doing somersaults.

Keep safe and don't let the b*stards get us down. Whoever is responsible is scum. I hate the fact that our world is becoming such a violent place.

Jaysfirst · 07/07/2005 22:19

hi everyone.
what an awful day oday , only just feel like writing something in here. I was on the tube this morning, luckily i got off just after Liverpool street at 850....phewee i felt so relieved i tell you. Feeling really sorry for everyone that has been affected, it was awful being in the eastend and hearing all the stories going round.
Well 15 weeks for me tomorrow, all my sickness seems to have gone and my boobs are semi ack to normal, i am not wicing everytime i put a bra on. Still having a lot of exhaustions and loo visits, but have resigned that that might be me and pregnancy! Bought some babygro's from a car boot sale ( first things i have got, they were brand new and only 50p!!) spent about half an hour imagining my babe in them.....sad but true!!
I too am organising our wedding, so i can sympathise with you Georgie... ours is on the 6th August. We had planned to have it in September but bought it forward a month when we found out i was preggers. Its all really exciting and going well at the mo. I found the dress i loved, and just ordered it two sizes too big, going on Sat to have the first fitting, i am not that big at the moment so i think i might be ok!!
Anyway i have gone on a fair bit but its nice to actually put it down on paper, seems to make it all real!!
Hope everyone is keeping well. I dont know anyone really in here so would be good to find oout more about you all. I live in Surrey, so if theres anyone about maybe we can meet for coffee sometime?
Laters, J xx

horseshoe · 08/07/2005 08:19

Hi all,

Haven't posted for a while as haven't had much to update except the usual sickness.....Really need support today though as got stuck at Aldgate yesterday and now very scared about going to work today so not gonna bother. Monday is my scan and so have until Tuesday to pluck up the courage to go in.

Rachey1969 · 08/07/2005 09:04

Poor Horseshoe how awful for you - I think you're right not to try to get in today with all the disruption - and for Chuffed and anyone else in London yesterday. It's everyone's nightmare on the tube. I hope everyone's family is ok. As far as I know everyone I know is safe. I watched in on TV all day - I'll be in a hotel in Russell Square next week and I'll be getting a taxi! It reminded me very much of the King's Cross Fire which happened during my first month away from home living in london (Marylebone Road). I stupidly didn't tell my mum I was ok (in the days before mobiles) and she was worried sick for 3 days before I rang home.

How dare they spoil our joy at getting the Olympics!

Chuffed · 08/07/2005 09:39

Well sitting at work today after an hours walk. dh and I have made a pact with our families no public transport so he bought a bike last night on ebay for £100 and I'll be getting one too, we'll get a kiddie seat for dd and will ride it as long as I can. 20min bike ride vs an hour walk.
They'll be paid off in 6wks if save £18.50 a week in tube tickets.
Good buy on the grows jaysfirst, we were sorting clothes last night putting all the under 6mth clothes that could suit boy or girl aside for bump. It is so hard to imagine. What is your dress like. With dd I was still in some size 10's at 5mths I just sort of popped out about 2wks after my 20wks scan. Those same trousers I wore out to dinner at 5mths last time only just fit me now at 13wks

Rachey1969 · 11/07/2005 10:16

Where is everyone?! The January thread is getting very small! I shouldn't moan but this heat is draining me. I went to the beach on Saturday and had to sleep under an umbrella! Yesterday went to see REM - absolutely fantastic but I couldn't find the energy to do any more than clap! Off to Edinburgh today - hoping it's a bit cooler - and then London on Wednesday. See you all on Thursday - anyone else feeling movement?

Chuffed · 11/07/2005 10:31

Rachey I think I've felt a little movement but have since wondered if it is just adhesions moving internally.
I love this beautiful weather, dd went to the park yesterday and spent the whole day there in the shade but it was still beautiful and warm.
I feel the cold something awful and pregnancy doesn't make me hotter so lucky for summer but not so lucky for winter unfortunately.
Our thread is getting really quiet isn't it?
Well my mole was taken out on Saturday and I'm still pretty mobile which I'm happy with, the specialist wasn't too worried about it thank goodness, will wait to see what the results say when they come back.
dh is in New York this week so am struggling along by myself
Have a good week everybody.

hunkermunker · 11/07/2005 10:48

Sorry, haven't been around much lately. Always seem to be reams of posts to read and I don't remember to check often enough for it not to be a good half hour to read them all!

Hope everyone's well - haven't read the thread through so don't know any specifics. Have been feeling very sick, but not actually throwing up, just all day seasickness and retching.

Can't wait for cold weather - hate this heat

lyra41 · 11/07/2005 15:49

I'm finding it very hot too. Lots of cool baths and naps seem to help.

I think I'm feeling movement now, but it's very slight and only when I'm lying down with nothing else to distract me.

My excema's a lot worse during this pg, hasn't been before in other 2, don't quite know why. Perhaps it's with being older, my immune system is a bit more knackered. I'm trying to sort it using aloe vera gel, but it's very hit and miss, sometimes it seems to sort it out, and other times as itchy and sore as ever.

getting very tempted by small sweet baby garments in the shops, but know it's silly as there's nowhere to put them yet. Also the lady down the road with 3 boys (and definitely doesn't want any more) AND my sil's sil in same position have offered me the pick of all their baby clothes, so it would be a waste of money to buy more.

GeorgieM · 11/07/2005 17:04

Hi everyone. Am feeling the same as y'all. Hot and bothered and just wanting long naps all the time.

Have cravings for bacon and chicken salad and miso soup and tofu.... am officially freaky!

My oldest friend from uni came over on Sat from Singapore. She's a Space Clearer, Healer and Life Coach. She's been with us all w/e and it's been so good to see her. It's been 17 years since we met......man, do I feel old!

Am sure I've been feeling movements as well. Don't think it's gas! Feeling as huge as a house though.

Jaysfirst.... congrats on your upcoming wedding, and welcome. You feeling stressed organising it? Ours is only small affair (24 people), larger renewal of vows type thing will be in Dec 06... I will wear my wedding dress dag-namit!

The ice lollies are calling to me, so I'm off!

sweetkitty · 11/07/2005 17:34

hi all

Not as warm as down South up here in Scotland but still a lovely day, went for a lovely long walk along the beach with DD. I felt movement on Saturday for the first time like bubbles popping in my stomach. Have official bump now as well, well hope it looks like it either that I just look fat!

Mumfun · 12/07/2005 09:17

Hi

Havent been on here much as was feeling so wretched. Starting to feel better this week - now 13 weeks. Had scan which was pretty good - great to see heartbeat. Nuchal reduced my risk to one in 278 - good for age. Also consultant told us nose bone development of baby is good and another positive sign that no chromosome problems (not included in risk rating at our hospital). So not absolutely out of the woods but if we had had one in 300 or more they would have recommended no invasive. We have decided no invasive as risk much higher then risk we have, so happy and settled and going to try and enjoy next 3 months and feel better.

Hope it doesnt get too hot next few weeks. Hope everyone else staring to feel better

MF

hunkermunker · 12/07/2005 16:30

lyra41, have you tried Aveeno for your eczema? You can get it on prescription, which are free for prgnant women too!

lyra41 · 12/07/2005 21:36

Thanks HM

I'll write to the doctor right now before I forget, and hopefully she'll prescribe it.

It's my youngest's 10th birthday tomorrow, she's actually in bed trying to get to sleep for a change, to make tomorrow come quicker. She's having a new tape/cd player, an outfit to look like Natasha Bedingfield (!) for her pop star birthday party on Saturday. Luckily NB wears lots of jeans and white vest tops, so the outfit wasn't hard to come by - £15 in the GAP sale, so we did well there. She still plays with dolls, so I've also got her a few bits and bobs of Lil Bratz if you've ever heard of them. No cake to make tonight, phew, I think it would melt overnight, I'll make it on Friday in time for her party.

While I was shopping for dd tonight, I couldn't resist a lovely small garment for the incubus (as a friend referred to him yesterday). I still think of the baby as a large butter bean really, but by now (15 weeks), I think he has everything he needs, fingers and toes, belly and nose, he just needs to get bigger and more complex in the brain and neurone departments I think. I like the name Alex today, but dh likes George, so who knows?

Anyone else thinking of names yet?

Ds will be 13 in 3 weeks, he just got back from a school trip to France. According to his friend, he now has a girlfriend! But ds's not saying much, and so far no major evidence.

Bit of a long one there I'm afraid. I always was a bit of a gabber.

Hope you're all coping with the heat, I just had a cool bath, so I'm feeling Ok just now.

Bye.

Chuffed · 13/07/2005 09:23

Hey ladies, all fine with me but feeling a bit exhausted with 2hrs of walking to and from work and also being by myself with dh away makes for more work.
We have our names sussed, actually had them sussed by a couple of weeks
Not telling anybody what they are either as then there are no comments, and it is a nice surprise for everybody.
Hope the excema gets sorted out lyra.

GeorgieM · 13/07/2005 09:49

Hi Gang.... what a lovely day.

Lyra - I keep thinking about DD growing up and having boyfriends, all rather scary! She's only 4! And the poor boy will have to contend with DD's daddy and step daddy!!!!

We've decided (I think) on a boys name... Tobias Alexander.... and as for a girl we're really liking Olivia, Emilia or Elizabeth (Libby) but can't decide on middle name.

OK, better go dash as DD chomping at the bit to go in paddling pool.

Hope all of you stuck in offices are OK in the heat.

Chuffed · 13/07/2005 11:18

OOOh I forgot to say noticeable bump here, seems like I have gone straight out into a round bump - people at work on other floors who I didn't tell originally are starting to notice.

Eshay · 13/07/2005 14:26

Good afternoon all,

I haven't been on in ages as I had a friend staying from Holland and then my parents as well so I've been a bit busy. I was lucky enought to have last Thursday off so I was not affected by the bombings. Quite scary to go back this week though.

Chuffed, I'm glad your mole is out and the doc didn't seem too worried about it. They often have a good eye for what is and isn't malignant. I suppose they've seen so many they can be quite sure but don't want to make any promises.

I haven't felt any movements yet but I am absolutely huge already. Well, people don't offer me their seats on the tube yet but I can't wear my normal clothes anymore. It's quite shocking to look at myself in the mirror at night. I'm sure I wans't this big with DS. I have my 13 week scan this Friday - quite exciting.

We have no idea about names and refuse to think about them until we know the sex of the baby. It took us ages to come up with DS' name and now we have to do it again. The name has to work in Dutch as well so that makes it a bit more difficult.

sweetkitty · 13/07/2005 16:15

hi all

Bit cooler in Scotland today, been out shopping for DP's birthday pressies and some of DD's, cannot believe this time last year I was pregnant and on my one week of maternity leave before DD decided to make an early appearance. 20 years ago you were only allowed to work to 6 months!!!

We have boys name sussed girls we are still arguing about, will wait to find out the sex before having serious discussions.

Bump or peanut as we have called it is coming on well think it was around 18 weeks I stopped wearing normal clothes last time.

horseshoe · 14/07/2005 11:08

Hi everyone...really glad to hear everyone is doing OK....

Had a roller coster week. Had a scan Monday morning and everything was fine...hen had a little sleep in the afternoon and woke up thiking I needed the toilet....Initially I thought I must have wet myself and then I saw all of the blood.....

Went straight to hospital and they examined me and said that my cervix was open and it was there was alot of mucus so looked like membranes had ruptured and I was miscarrying. So i stayed overnight and had a scan next morning and baby was fine.... I haven't stopped bleeding yet but baby is OK so just taking it easy. Ihave had to have further tests as my kidney was producing Keytones and I am getting alot of pain in that area so just awaiting results before I can get treatment....

so wish me luck x

sweetkitty · 14/07/2005 11:33

aww horseshoe thats terrible I hope you and bub are OK

I had a large bleed at 9 weeks and a little one at 10 with DD I never thought you could have that much blood and not miscarry. It's frightening. But DD was OK through it all and is biting my toes as we speak. I'll keep everything crossed for you.

Mumfun · 14/07/2005 12:31

Gosh yes horseshoe - everything crossed for you - how absolutely scary!

Started to feel sick again as went out too much and got tired - rest for a few nights and go out at the weekend again - very conscious this time that I will be permanently attached to a babe for 6 months from Jan so want to get a good bit of socialising in now!

Anyone thinking yet where to sleep new baby - I know it s bit early but Im not sure what to do. Hubby thinks we shoudl move DS from nursery to other much bigger room (that is in really bad nick so needs totally redecorated.I think DS loves his room and not great to move him for new babe but Im maybe totally wrong. I do suspect that this baby will spend less time in our room than the last - DS used to thump his legs up and down in the middle of the night and wake me up on top of all the other feed wakenings he did to me.ALso wondering how I will amuse DS while I BF new babe.

May be thinking all these things much too earlier. There is a another good thread on what to buy for second babe so Ill not go on about it here but Im not going to buy much! I spend far too much on food at the mo as it is as I only really like nice food at the mo - just back from stocking up at M & S but did have vouchers to spend!Have a girls name I like. but have really goneoff some of the boys names I liked last time - I dont think this one would be called Ross or Kyle and they were on the very shortlist last time.

Roll on feeling less tired - am going to stay with parents soon for 3 weeks so hoping to get a bit more of a break then. I really dont know how those of you working and especially travelling do it -you have my admiration!

MF

Chuffed · 14/07/2005 13:37

Horshoe, everything crossed that it all works out OK - so glad that the baby is OK!!!!
Well it is a smashing day in London and dd decided this morning to have 3 loose nappies which meant no nursery so guess who got to go to the park this morning and not go to work - yay me.
We are packing in our flat at the moment as we move 6-8wks after baby is born back to NZ travelling on the way so baby will be on one side of the bed in a moses basket and dd will be on the other side in her cot. Cosy huh? Hopefully we won't have to buy much at all but still unsure what double buggy to get.

GeorgieM · 14/07/2005 14:46

Oh Horseshoe. How awful for you. You OK? Have you got friends/family to look after you? Really, really, really hope everything OK. Am keeping fingers crossed that it's just a hiccup for you and bubs. Hope that tests results are on the positive side and that the docs can treat whatever it is that's causing the bleed.

Big up the Office Chicks. You gals must be asleep over your desks.... or camped out on the air con units!!! Much respect.

Anyone else feel like they're going to melt into a puddle like the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz?

Sleeping arrangements.... hmmmmmm. Will try and have bubs with me in moses basket until 11 weeks or so and then into nursey which is only across the hall. We'll see. Am trying to keep open mind with this one and just go with the flow. Nearly had a mental breakdown with DD trying to follow eveything that everyone said to me!

Mumfun - yum, yum M&S food rocks. Tummy rumbling now just thinking of it.
