Hi all & welcome to Truckerkaz, been off up to Leeds today for a meeting so drove up yesterday afternoon so I could stay with a friend for the night.
Absolutely exhausted now. Had to have a sleep at a service station for half an hour!! I don't think I've ever been this tired in my life.

Congratulations on the scan DQ, fantastic news & must be so nice to be able to tell everyone. What with all this sucessful doppler activity I think I might be brave & order one. I can then have a check on the heartbeat next Thurs (12 wks) & if its OK I can happily tell the world. Bonkerz & Nemo, such good news about hearing your little ones heartbeats.

Minnie, finding clothes is a NIGHTMARE!!

Right, going to have a snooze before I fall asleep at the computer.

Chickpea · 07/06/2005 16:43

Sorry BM I am a slow typist so posts crossed. Have you got a mum, sibling or close friend on hand that can be on call and take the kids off your hands? How old are your kids?

What is VBAC? she says looking embarrased.

beckymumof3 · 07/06/2005 16:45

Being as this one is due between Xmas & NY most friends are away visiting relatives and my family live down in the London area & I would rather the kids stayed nearby... I'm sure it will work out! My other children are 10, 5 and 4. If its born on Xmas day I'm not sure it would go down too well with them!

VBAC - Vaginal Birth After Caesarean

beckymumof3 · 07/06/2005 16:48

Anyway I better get off here and start preparing for my class tonight - place of birth/cascade of intervention for me..interesting??

truckerkaz · 07/06/2005 16:49

VBAC.....hmmmm Very Brave And Couragous? probably lol

truckerkaz · 07/06/2005 16:51

ive had 4 babies after 2 ectopics does that count as vbac?

Nemo1977 · 07/06/2005 16:51

hi all chickpea
vbac is vaginal birth after c sec.

Not really into the whole home birth myself mainly because i dont want neighbours to hear me gruntint n groaning, dont want ds to be scared as he will only just be 2. Also if somethings goes wrong want whole medic team on standby..lol DS heartbeat kept dropping etc when I was having him so that does worry me.

george poor u and the drive..must admit not looking forward to our drive to torquay on sat as will take about 6hrs all together dh has offered to drive all the way but dont think thats fair.

take care all

scully · 07/06/2005 16:51

Thx becky I will have a look at that, have just started to do a bit of research......reading mixed comments but most people who've gone on to have one are positive about it. my c-section last time was so lovely and quick and stress free last time though......
No idea how anyone stays up to watch something at 10.30pm - I'm flat out finishing an episode of CSI between 9-10pm!
But I have tomorrow off work at least, decided it was too hard to run around Surrey for dh's dr appt, my scan and still get to work in London, I was bound to fall asleep somewhere

truckerkaz · 07/06/2005 16:51

all 4 normal deliveries

babygibbon · 07/06/2005 16:54

Hello! Sorry I haven't been on for so long - we took DD to Paris during half term (DH was on half term, not DD whose only 11 months!) and it was fantastic, which suprised me a bit because I'd heard bad things about Paris with a baby.

Had my nuchal fold scan this morning and it went well...makes it seem so much more real. They've adjusted my due date slightly (25th December) which means 11+3 and the big 12 at the end of the week. The nuchal fold result was also good - 1 in 2000 which is better than the average for my age. Only slight problem was DH, who got confused between the 20 week scan and this one and was most disappointed that he couldn't find out the sex / see more.

I may be wrong in this, but I feel so much more confident about this pregnancy now.

And, sorry Goldenoldie, relieved there's only one!

truckerkaz · 07/06/2005 16:55

bbl open day for nursery and school

Chickpea · 07/06/2005 16:55

Is it generally okay then to have a VBAC?

Nemo1977 · 07/06/2005 16:58

chickpea i think there is no reason to not have a vbac

babygibbon glad paris was fab and congrates on great scan...does feel more real now doesnt it

ninah · 07/06/2005 17:19

Goldenoldie you CAN refuse to be weighed! but I know it can be a lot of hassle, last time after a long argument with mw we settled on compromise, she weighed me, wrote in her notes, I didn't look, she didn't tell me. Ignorance may not be bliss exactly but it's by far preferable to the knowledge you're a bloater, getting more bloated! and I DID get back to my normal size last time, so it's not head in sand either.

dramaqueen72 · 07/06/2005 17:25

agh! you ladies talk so much.....
desperate midwives is on earlier (ish) its on mondays at 9.30pm BBC3 then repeated thursday 10.30pm BBC3........hth anyone who like me cant stay awake past ten at all now, and nine is even better sounding for bedtime. i'm so tired my dh actually asked the sonographer about it , LOL, she told him pg makes you SO very tired he wouldnt believe it. (isnt it infurriating when they 'listen' to medical people but dismiss yourself saying the exact thing!!!)
My dearest friend raves about her recent VBAC, she always felt she ahd missed out on something previously (her thoughts not mine) so is thrilled she did the 'other way' this time.
Babygibbon! woohoo! we're due the same day now! let me tell you i can see myself getting seriously p*ssed off with people saying the 'omg christmas day' phrase....i already have! they all say it dont they?!!!
George -had me alittle worried there, wondering where you were glad all is well if tiring. take it easy when you can.
becky is it time for our online class yet??? i think it would be mumsnet smash hit!! truely. have a good class!
I dont think dh would go for total homebirth, he was pretty freaked out by me last time.......pmsl he just loved the midwives reassuring HIM, and the tea and toast afterwardshe wasnt too thrilled by me wondering about between delivery room and bathroom totally naked tho...(i hasten to add normally am such a prude wouldnt do that kinda thing but labour and pain does funny things to a girl....... luckily no-one about tho)so the privacy side he would like!

dramaqueen72 · 07/06/2005 17:29

RE weight- ninah -I was going to say same thing, my mw writes it in her notes and i dont ask, dont see and DONT know! she weighs me once unless anything would cause her to worry and weigh me again and i dont get weighed until next baby!LOL personally i dont 'do' scales...i use pairs of jeans.....I know when its bad and i can only fit into my larger ones!

ninah · 07/06/2005 17:32

Yup - if the clothes fit, wear 'em!
Don't spose your sonographer could put that in writing for my dp, could s/he? PREGNANCY MAKES YOU TIRED - OFFICIAL! signed 'A Medically Qualified Person'
Mind you my poor dp has gone down with chickenpox at age 47 he got it on his birthday as well, so I will let him off for now! so unfair, as he was great helping with ds and this is his reward!

Chickpea · 07/06/2005 17:43

Babygibbon and DQ - I was born on Xmas day and I love it. No-one ever forgets your birthday and it sort of makes you feel a bit, well, sort of special.

beckymumof3 · 07/06/2005 18:01

sorry DQ, 3rd trimester only Also, trying to figure out how I could get you all into small groups etc. Seems impossible! You'd all talk at once and no-one would listen! hehe..

Really should get back to work fgs!

beckymumof3 · 07/06/2005 18:03

BTW my mw weighed me in kgs so I still have no idea how much I weigh!? Unless anyone knows what 67kilos is?

dramaqueen72 · 07/06/2005 18:39

becky -dont ask cause someone will know and it might be not what you thought!

truckerkaz · 07/06/2005 18:48

ok, so us mums to be put on weight but hey!!... at least we'll lose it so much faster than any diet can promise! my dh has a bit of a truckers belly so i keep telling him that i'll lose mine first lol

Bonkerz · 07/06/2005 18:49

Crikey this thread is like waiting for a bus! None for days then all of you at once!

OK have caught up now. Dh and i experimanted with the doppler so i knew what my heart sounded like and what i heard was defo too fast for my heart!!
Nemo, glad you ok and bit happier.
Am sooooo glad this thread is going so well. My ms is still bad, very sick in morning, can eat at lunch but then feel sick all afternoon and then am hungry after 8pm but too tired to eat!!

Got told i was glowing today!! What bollards!!

Was naughty today and bought a newborn white cardigan! Couldnt resist!

Belly definately a different shape and people are noticing now!!
Dont know what else to add really so will leave it till tomorrow.

Nemo1977 · 08/06/2005 08:43

george32 · 08/06/2005 08:47

Hi Nemo,
Same here, no sleep. I'm dead on my feet. Phoned my boss to say I am going to work from home today as I can't keep my eyes open.
So glad they are OK about it.
