bonkerz -good1 i knew it was in there somewhere! those doplers are pretty good at early heartbeats
s/h theres no way you can confuse your own heart with this fast 'train track' noise! we'd be dead/very poorly with a heart beating so fast like that!!
george where are you hun? i just need to check in with you. you can mail me if you feel youd rather.
expat good for you those seabands work (dont take them off again!) they never did work for me

sweetheart · 07/06/2005 09:37

thats what I said dq - that the two are distinctive from each other!!!

sweetheart · 07/06/2005 10:16

sorry, this is playing on my mind....

I didn't mena to be negative Bonkerz - sorry if it sounded that way.

I didn't actually know that you could hear your own heartbeat in your tummy untill my midwife told me. I though it was a fact that might be interesting to some of you.

Anyway, I'm off now - tail between my legs

scully · 07/06/2005 11:33

Well I'm finally getting somewhere, have my nuchal scan tomorrow - I'm 12+3 today. And my midwife rang me at home last night to arrange my booking in appt for next week. Gave me her home and mobile numbers and said I can call anytime in the evening should I need to, and if I wanted to discuss the scan before I see her next week, to ring in the evening. So good to finally have a point of contact and feel like things are happening at last.

Chickpea · 07/06/2005 11:55

Don't be daft sweetheart I'm sure DQ was just reiterating what you had said and the main thing is Bonkerz babs is okay!

Is anyone considering a home birth - I have had two and wouldn't do it any other way. I'm sure there must be a soapbox somewhere round here for me to climb on - anyone else going for the home territory option?

goldenoldie · 07/06/2005 11:55

Scully - hope nucal goes well.

Bonkerz - gald you found the h/b. I have a quick lesten every night now.

Sweethart - I'm due the day after you - 2nd Dec.

I've put on a stone already - eek! I recon all thei weighing at the clinic is just a form of emotional torture - I know I'm fat, I don't need the scales to tell me....................

Chickpea · 07/06/2005 12:06

HI G Oldie. I told the mw that i'd rather not get on the scales and gave her an approx weight. I fluctuate so much anyway even when I'm not pg depending on time of day, weight of pants worn that particular day and recent cake consumption.
I am quite happy to convince myself that the extra rolls that have grown are essential to protect the baby and feed it when it eventually emerges and I'll have no probs shaking it when the baby is born as I will of course be excercising like mad then. But for now I'll stick to the cakes - just in case I waste away !!

Nemo1977 · 07/06/2005 12:51

afternoon all
hope u r all ok.
WEnt to see mw this morning and it was a different one. She phoned hospital about scan but they said its hospital policy blah blah blah so even she couldnt get me a scan. However she did check hb and we heard it again which was reassuring. Although she said that if i told anyone she would be in for a stern word..lol
Anyways i am happy cos of heartbeat thats all i wanted scan for anyway. She did ask if i only wanted scan to see pic etc and i was like noooooooo i want to see my baby is alive and thats it. I told her about what happened with last mc and the waiting between scans and then having to wait 2wks for erpc and she said it is absolutely disgusting they were like that. She has booked me in again for in 2 wks and has said that they will check baby heartbeat etc every 2 wks for me to stop the stressing which i thought was lovely of her. So am a happy lady..lol

scully · 07/06/2005 13:06

That sounds more reassuring then Nemo, good you've found someone helpful.
Chickpea, I'm not considering hb but is anyone else considering vbac? Just starting to do some research on it now, so I can talk to the midwife next week about it and see what her initial thoughts are.

Nemo1977 · 07/06/2005 13:08

wooooooohooooooo ive won a comp on here..lol sad i know but ive won £49 of baby clothes thing so glad today went well..pmsl

ninah · 07/06/2005 13:28

Hey nemo, things are good! glad to hear you are in safe hands and heartbeat fine. How exciting, the clothes, I haven't bought anything for my bump yet, have you thought what you might get? you have a ds already, right? me too, I am going to try and get an inkling of the gender before I go shopping.

Nemo1977 · 07/06/2005 13:30

ninah · 07/06/2005 13:31

ninah · 07/06/2005 13:32

I think mine is a girl, but then I thought ds was a girl. Must admit I'd like one as our house is SO full of boys dp, ds-s and his friends, ds ..

Nemo1977 · 07/06/2005 13:35

ninah · 07/06/2005 13:44

cool! good way to celebrate your healthy bump - ds/dd to be!

truckerkaz · 07/06/2005 14:08

hiya mums! how are we all? my bump is d efinately showing now, ppl r saying to me "are you sure theres only one in there?" cheeky a?

truckerkaz · 07/06/2005 14:22

ok, no ones here, just going to drive my double decker bus, full with school brats lol catch someone later i hope.

goldenoldie · 07/06/2005 14:27

Chickpea - I told m/w I did not want to be weighed either - but she said I had no choice - in case I swell up suddenly later (please no..........). Anyway - next time, I'm not being weighed unless they can bodily pick me up and put me on the scales themselves.

Nemo - glad you've found a nice m/w. I just wish I would see the same one twice. Getting bored going through my entire obstetric history at each appointment because no one can be arsed to read the notes.

I think I am having two girls - just a feeling.

dramaqueen72 · 07/06/2005 16:10

s/h! i dint mean it to sounds as if I corrected you, you big silly, i was just re-reassuring bonkerz she had heard right noise.

oh chickpea, a homebirth sounds lovely but it just cant happen here, my house is FULL and constantly busy not to mention dd2 who clings to me like a limpet when i'm home..............however i do give birth at our hospital 'upstairs' from delivery ward with just me dh and a midwife in a room done up with normal furniture etc........its really peaceful (aside from me shouting abit that is ), we use baths and birthing balls and no pain killers..so i feel 3/4 way to a home birth! did you see the home birth on bbc3 desperate midwives last night? i am now so hormonal i CRY at that series.........if you missed it its on thursday 10.30pm.
nemo glad midwife is 'on your side' and helping you thro this. and winning competition! woohoo!
truckerkaz, everyone keeps saying 'oh you LOOK pg now' which isnt moral boosting at all........I know i have changed shape and AM pg, but they could word it better dont you think?!

truckerkaz · 07/06/2005 16:12

when ppl ask me "what is it?" i say "a baby!!" lol

truckerkaz · 07/06/2005 16:17

brb got mountains of washing up to do

beckymumof3 · 07/06/2005 16:25

I am planning a hb - just have to figure out what to do with the kids! I attended a hb about a year and a half ago and it was brilliant- 1-to-1 midwifery care throughout, able to wander round house/garden, eat when she wanted, and then lie back with a cup of tea in her own bed and introduce baby to her brother and sister. It was fab - I hope mine is like that!

Re: VBAC, I just found a good website about caesareans and VBAC which has loads of good info - www.caesarean.org.uk

beckymumof3 · 07/06/2005 16:26

oh yes, why is desperate midwives on sooo late? Can't stay up past 10 oclock these days - anyone know if its repeated in the day?

Chickpea · 07/06/2005 16:37

DQ - the delivery suite sounds lovely and I know what you mean about the 2 yr old - could make it a bit difficult!!!

I wanted my dd and ds (age 7 and 8) to be there at the birth of my dd2 last summer and they were there throughout the labour but at about 7 cms dilated when I really started to worry the heighbours (I was pacing about in the garden - lovely summer day) I asked my mum to take them for a walk and when they got back my dd2 had only just arrived - so it really worked out perfectly. I was very lucky.

This one however of course is a winter baby so I have no idea how it will turn out - I found the garden and fresh air really helped with my dd2.

Will check out desperate hwives on Thursday - have you got discovery Health - that's always good for a birth or two.

Golden Oldie - swell up !!! eeek. Maybe I'll cut down on the cake afterall. I can't be weighed now anyway because I suspect that my approx guess was rather optimistic and they'd wonder why I had gained 2 stone in four weeks!!
