Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bumpsnowjustplump · 22/07/2009 09:00

Oh my god while I posted that I turned my back on my breakfast and ds and when I turned around again I saw he has stollen a piece of my watermelon and was eating it......

I think he might be ready for food now....

bumpsnowjustplump · 22/07/2009 09:01

not my first choice of weaning food though i must say...

Diege · 22/07/2009 09:19

Morning! Sounds like baby-led weaning in action LB . Re: the constipation, try just a tea-spoon of pineapple or fresh orange juice neat, always worked for me, but could be that you need to do it a couple of times before you get results.
KAYZ, am hearing that swine flu is often confused with tonsilitus - really hope it's not the latter!
Off to a Surestart thing this morning, and then really need to crack on with dd1's birthday present buying! Dh has done ip a second hand bike we got from a friend for her, and it looks really smart, but she's also asking for the usual rubbishy slime aliens/match attacks/ben 10 things...
Hope everyone is well - esp the GLASK family!

glaskham · 22/07/2009 09:20

Bump- at least its healthy!! not like DD1 who refused food up until 10mths old and one day decided to crawl across the room and grab DS's Mukky D's cheeseburger!!!

DH also has swine flu now... woke up and felt awful- he'd felt a bit achey and groggy when he went to bed but its gotten much worse overnight.

Diege · 22/07/2009 09:20

Meant 'not the former'! KAYZ!

Diege · 22/07/2009 09:22

Oh no GLASK! ON the positive side, at least you're getting it now and have anti-virals etc. I also went on the NHS choices thing and they will give tamiflu to under ones, so good to know if you do need it (fingers crossed you don;t).

bumpsnowjustplump · 22/07/2009 10:09

diege I have just given ds a 5ml spoon of neat oj (he swallowed some before spitting) how often should I give it?

glask so sorry for ds & dh. My sister used to work in health care and says under 1 will have to go in to hospital as they need to be observed while on tamiflu (dont know how true that is though she hasn't worked in a while)...

I am doing myslf in about it all as dd & ds already have a virus.... (and sore ears where I keep sticking the themometer in)...

Diege · 22/07/2009 10:23

LB, I would leave it a few hours between doses if I were you as it can be quite potent. Please don't worry too much about swine flu - I know it's hard, but all you can do is to take sensible precautions and try not to let fears of what is a small risk take over your day to day life. The temptation is to hole up and not go out to crowded places etc, but I'm trying to carry on as normal - for eg. dd3's at a theme park today with nursery - had a minor panic, but put things into perpective and let her go.
BTW your sister may be right - it's only just recently that tamiflu has been deemed ok for use in under 1's, so NHS may well be asking them to be observed in hospital.

Kayzr · 22/07/2009 10:33

I am convinced he has swine flu next door. When I had tonsilitus I was ill but could get to bed. I've just seen my neighbour and she said he is having to sleep on the floor downstairs as he can't move.

AND she wants me to go swimming with her!! I though that you were meant to avoid busy places if you were in contact with Swine Flu!!!

Plus she is a size 8 and has no stretch marks after 3 kids. I am feeling a bit upset about the lack of weight loss so I'm not up to it. Especially after she said she has 20 bikinis to choose from.

bumpsnowjustplump · 22/07/2009 11:00

Kay the advice now is if you are not showing symptoms then you carry on as normal so she is fine to go swimming if she has no symptoms.....

Kayzr · 22/07/2009 11:02

Our GP surgery has posters up saying that if you live with someone with SF then you should keep away from the surgery and busy places as you may carry the germs.

Diege · 22/07/2009 11:07

I think this is half the problem -that advice from different health authortiies does seem to contradict. From what I heard on news last night they were saying the most-up tp date info was on NHS choices website.

idreamofbeanie · 22/07/2009 11:19

Morning all,

LB - sorry you and O are still suffering. I hope the OJ helps!

Glask - poor you and your sick boys . I have my fingers crossed you and the girls manage to avoid it. LOL at the cheeseburger incident .

Kayz - don't let the whole size 8 bikini thing get to you. You have 2 gorgeous boys and have been doing great with the weight loss and driving lessons. Life is too short to spend it comparing yourself to other people - especially in the weight stakes (please remind me of this once LO is here and I'm too busy to even try exercising ). BTW I only have 6.5 weeks left at work before my hol and maternity leave - def have to arrange a meet up once I am off.

Diege - I'm sure DD3 will have a fab time at the theme park. Good luck with birthday pressie shopping (PS I have no idea what any of that stuff is ).

Moosy - hope you had a great scan and got loads of great piccies. How did DD enjoy it?

I'm sure I should be more worried about swine flu but I've sort of taken the attitude that I can't do much about it so I'll just worry about it if I get it. I'm taking vitamins and staying as healthy as poss but I'm not sure anything else will have a massive effect and I don't want to spend the next few months feeling stressed and paranoid.

bumpsnowjustplump · 22/07/2009 11:27

oh and IABU apparently....... here

Kayzr · 22/07/2009 11:27

We will do that IDOB!!

bumpsnowjustplump · 22/07/2009 11:30

Oh and selfish as well because I dont want my 5 month old baby to catch a killing bug due to another mothers actions.... whoops

sorky · 22/07/2009 11:39

She slept through again!

Walk away Bumps, walk away.

bumpsnowjustplump · 22/07/2009 11:43

ummmmm think i will... But I did ask so cant complain really....

How is she this morning sorky? I put ds down for a nap 2 hours ago and he is still asleep . I have just ordered a new high chair for him and going to have him sitting at table with us from now on... Weaning sarts in two weeks....

bumpsnowjustplump · 22/07/2009 11:50

I have just been up to check on him and he is on his tummy fast asleep.... he has rolled over in his mosses...... eak.. is that safe?

Kayzr · 22/07/2009 11:50

Just rang HV for help with DS2's sleeping. She wants us to go in this afternoon as it will take a long chat. She said she needs to check his eating patterns.

Kayzr · 22/07/2009 11:51

Bump DS2 always sleeps on his front.

Moosy · 22/07/2009 13:23

Sorry for your poorlies Glask, I hope they get over it quickly and it doesn't get the rest of you (especially DD2). I'm trying not to worry about it, but am slightly relieved that it's the end of term and DD1 won't be at preschool for a while now.

I had my scan this morning, DD1 got a bit bored after a while but said she enjoyed it. I have to go back in a few days as she couldn't see everything properly and wants to recheck the spine, kidneys and bladder, but everything seems fine. Also she said the placenta is tear shaped rather than a neat disc and the pointy end is sitting a bit low and might be slightly in the way of the exit, but that it will probably move and not to worry, but it means I get an extra at about 32 weeks I like scans

Oh yeah, and it's a girl
