Morning Diege, tink, IDOB!

IDOB - If it were me I'd probably still go as I hate to miss out on social engagements
However I would maybe text them first saying something like "Hi! Really looking forward to tonight. I do have a bit of a cold though. I do feel well enough to come but if any of you would rather I didn't in case of catching it I'd completely understand. What do you think?"
Or something like that...

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 21/08/2009 11:00

Morning

Not really got time to catch I'm afraid, just saw IDOB's last post, can you ring them and say you're not going to make it because of your cold, they might just say to come along anyway? Hope you're feeling better soon.

Quick catch up with us, DH didn't have his snip, the docotr found he had two hernias so he has to go under GA to remove them and they'll do the snip at the same time. Not good, someone that he works with had a hernia removed, and had to have 5 weeks off work, at the moment that would absolutely cripple us, so not sure what's going to happen there.

We've lost that house in Forton, we just couldn't move fast enough for them

But on a very good note, our house went on the market on Monday, so far had 3 viewings, another one later today, highest offer we've had so far is already a grand and a half over the asking price And they have their mortgage in place! The EA haven't even asked for us to accept it yet, she is going back and forth between the 3 that have seen it so far to see just how high they are going to offer! T'is quite exciting!

M is grizzly, bit of a temp., not eating/sleeping well, doesn't seem to have any other symptoms, so putting it down to his teeth. Poor little things, they go through so much don't they?

Have got to go, M is crying, DS1 is mooding because I won't let him give our details to some website or another and DS2 is running between them both giving them cuddles, oh no, he's just joining in the crying chorus now!

Ahhh, who do I sort first?!!

idreamofbeanie · 21/08/2009 11:17

Cheers guys, I don't have mobile numbers but I think I'll send a quick e-mail and hope most people see it before tonight.

Lightning - sorry they wouldn't wait for you to move but it sounds like it could still be on the market when you are ready. Fingers crossed! Very exciting news about your house though .

glaskham · 21/08/2009 20:20

Evening- went to wales with DH today, he had to do something for a few hrs in the Llandudno store so i went along for the ride and went shopping- resisted the spending urge when i was wandering round the shops and in the end spent under a tenner (thats a first!!) and got all 3 DC's and my nephew 2 pairs of socks each in the debenhams sale!!

Re. York meet up in sept- does anyone mind if my sister and my nephew come along? It's a 3hr train trip each way so the company would be nice aswell as getting my sister out and about, talking with other mums etc.

My Mum confided in me a few weeks ago- my sister seems very down, finding being a single mum very hard. My nephews dad doesn't have much involvement at all, and its getting her down.... she's even mentioned that some days she thinks he'd be better living with someone else not her... worries me a little- so we're all trying to make more of an effort- i thought by having the time on the train alone with her she might open up to me etc.... dont often get chance just the 2 of us. Hope it's Ok.

essenceofSES · 21/08/2009 20:35

Hi Glask!
No problem about your sister and nephew coming to York meet up. I was thinking that my cousin and my friend and her 3yo DD might want to come too if that's ok...? We might be a bit of a crowd in the end!!?

I do feel for your sister though - not easy being a mum anyway at times but being a single mum - well I'm in awe of how some people manage. Lovely of you to think of her.

Lightning - hope DH gets hernias sorted easily. Real shame about the house. I find moving house so difficult as when you find a house, you need to love it to think about putting an offer in but so often it falls through. I hope one falls into place for you soon. On a brighter note, great that you've had those viewings on your own place and a fantastic offer!!!

IDOB - what did you do in the end?

tink - I hope you get your parcels tomorrow.

kookykid · 21/08/2009 20:55

Evening all,

Have had a busy couple of days with a friend who is in her 1st trimester with her DC3. She has always had bad MS, but it suddenly disappeared so she was frantic, having perviously miscarried in between DC1 and 2. She managed to get an early scan today and there was a heartbeat, albeit a "weak" one. Anyway, I offered to sit for her DCs while she was at the hospital, so had 3 LOs to look after this morning! Don't know how those of you with 3 or 4 DCs do it!!

So, how does syndicate etiquette work?? Do I start my own? Can I make my own prediction? What info do you need? Will await futher instructions...

Sounds like the meet-up was good. Wish I could make the Sept York one, but think the timing might be a bit out for me . Will make one one of these days hopefully.

Bump - can't believe your Owen is 6 months - happy half birthday to him! Glad you had a better night - hope it's a sign of things to come.

IDOB - no point hiding your head in the sand, you're after me, lady! (If not before, if this LO is anything like his big sis!) Hope you managed to get out tonight in the end.

Lightning - sorry about your bad day what with the house and all, hope you're not too gutted. Bad news about your DH too. Does he have a date for the op? Hope M better too.

Glask, sounds like Wales was good and you're a better woman than me for resisting the Debenhams sale - I love their kids clothes!

So, I think the baby's room is just about ready. Spent last evening ironing the teeny tiny babygros just in case DS does turn out to be a little small. Nearly there with all the homebirth prep too, including energy drinks and tablets. Is there anything else you would recommend? Have been packing a hospital bag too, just in case. Always remember Diege suggesting Beauty Flash Balm, so have packed that!! Anything else? Would appreciate your pearls of wisdom.

glaskham · 21/08/2009 21:13

I was so close to spending much, much more Kooky- but i resisted.... i have just bought lots from my local store so i didn't really need it, and am trying to save the money to buy my train ticket for the york meet-up with next week... I got DD1 some beautiful ted baker socks- she's over the moon with them!! But last week i got DS some shoes, ben 10 pants and ben 10 hoody, DD1 a dress, ted baker skirt, roll-up thin summer pants, skinny jeans and a cardi... and for DD2 i got a demin dress, tights, shoes, couple of tops for winter and then also got my nephew a ted baker top!!! Think i've done my fair bit in the debenhams sale already!! haha!! Nearly bought DS the ben 10 tracksuit though, but it looks a little cheap compared to the pants and top i got last week.

Anyway- i'm going to go watch a film with DH. Have only been on here trying to look for a holiday cottage to book next easter half term, just wanting a cheapish holiday- if any at all... undecided wether to put AlLL next years savings into the house, or have a little holiday- taking inot account we've never had a proper holiday before (just trips to stay with relatives etc) and are off to disneyland in oct- i honestly dont think we'll need one, but it'd be nice if we find a nice little cottage.

Right- i realy am off now. @see' you all in the morning.

PS- well done on good sleep last night Bump- must be something in the air as DD2 only woke at 3ish then at 7am (with a dream feed at 10ish)

essenceofSES · 21/08/2009 22:00

kooky - re syndicate. Whatever you like! I think what I did was head it with my due date and gave my own guess. Might be useful to know how far overdue and what weight your DD was too.

I was meant to be going out tonight to one of the NCT girls place for take away but they've all cancelled in favour of settled bed time routines! All the guys are out for beer and curry. I wonder what state DH will be in when he gets home!

Kayzr · 21/08/2009 22:23

Glask, that's cool with me!! Will be nice for the 2 of you to be able to chat on the train.

idreamofbeanie · 21/08/2009 22:57

Hi Glask - the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. That goes for your cousin and friend too Ses.

Kooky - la la la, I can't hear you, la la la.

Well in the end I went along for dinner and I'm glad I did. No-one was worried about my cold and it was lovely to see everyone again. We had a fantastic meal too, the only problem was the place was a bit too loud. The races have been on so York is crammed full of pissed folk and the restaurant had more than it's fair share so now everyone has a sore throat! A few of us are off to check out Bumps and Babes next week which should be fun.

Kayzr · 22/08/2009 06:52

Morning,

It is too early!! I didn't sleep well last night and DS1 decided that 6am is the best time to get up. He is currently doing star jumps as he says he needs more exercise

IDOB, glad you had a good time last night. I keep promising myself that we'll go to the races next year and we never do. I must must go next year!

I woke up at 4am with awful cramp in my calf. It is still a bit crampy now, I bloody hate cramp.

Hope you are all well!

idreamofbeanie · 22/08/2009 08:29

Morning Kay - sorry for bad night. Its nice to get dressed up and go to the races properly but when my godson was here we just got the cheap tickets - you can pay £5 (kids free) and take your own picnic and alcohol and sit in the middle of the course. It's a nice day out, you get a good view and there's space for the kids to run around. We should do that next year.

My cold has developed into a horrible cough and my throat feels raw and sore. Is there anything I can take whilst pregnant or is it just hot drinks with honey to soothe it?

Diege · 22/08/2009 09:43

Morning! Think it's only paracetemol/codeine that's ok in pregnancy IDOB (I think codeine-based remedies are ok, but will stand to be corrected!) Def not brufen-based. Hoping you feel better soon - at least you had a good time yesterday
GLASK/SES, happy here too to have your sister/cousin at meet-up. The more the merrier!
GLASK, how is sunny Llandudno? I was born not far away and lived several years in Llandudno. I think it's a fab place and have many happy memories.
KOOKY, good on you remembering the clarins . Only other thing I'd suggest (which I'm sure you've packed) are warm socks for labour, and also flip flops for the shower!
KAYZ, hoping you can get a bit of rest today, early starts/bad nights are the worst
NAT, bad luck about the house, but very impressed about how quick things seem to be going on yours!! You never know, you could still end up there at this rate. And let's hope dh's hernias get sorted too!! Echos of Claire on Corri here, and she gets pregnant so I'm told (predictably)
SES, think I'd be a bit cross about night being cancelled. Not sure why bedtime routine would stop you going round - surely that would mean babies are up and asleep?? Oh, just thinking, were they doing controlled crying?? In which case, maybe best to keep away
Well me and J have the day to ourselves. Dh has taken dds to MIL on the train, back 6ish, so enjoying a bit of peace! New formula seem to be ok (SMA staydown), though is not staying down as such, just coming back up a bit thicker in consistency . Will give it a fortnight though as recommended. A bit as asked HV for some advice on using it (including possibility of switiching to fast flow teats as it's quite thick and J is falling asleep mid-through with all the effort of sucking) and she said she wasn't allowed to give advice on ff so couldn;t really help..So am trying things myself, but a bit cross as can see how someone with less experience could really make their baby ill if they weren't given advice. May phone Careline just in case!
Right, had better make the most of my freedom! Funny how one baby seems like freedom when you normally have 4 with you!

Diege · 22/08/2009 09:45

Oh TINKS, my final (for now!) Boden parcel arrived this morning. Pink boots for dd2 and a 'kethup bears' top for ds to go with his tarten baggies . Customer services woman said they are experiencing more business than usual (you??!! ) for this time of year, so may be short delays.

glaskham · 22/08/2009 10:12

Morning.... shouldn't have mentioned DD2's sleeping last night- i gave her a dream feed at 10ish as normal, she went back down, me and DH finished watching a film... then she woke at about midnight (before i'd managed to get to sleep) and wouldn't go to sleep again till 3.30am!!!! I tried everything, fed her 6 times, teething gel, rocking, ignoring, even gave a small dose of calpol as teething gel had ran out (disclaimer: not because i gave her so much but as was running out anyway) and nothing helped, in the end i led there crying at the end of the bed for half an hour before she finally gave in and went to sleep... though she did wake at 5ish for a feed and then i was woken at 7am by DH's work alarm, and have no chance of a nap/rest with DD1 home aswell- she didn't want to go away to scotland for the weekend so i'm stuck with both DD's when i just want to sleep!!!

I felt so bad as i flipped and ended up swearing at DD2 in the night- she'd started sounding like she was settling- so i was just about to drop off and she started screaming again!! I got up and swore- i was so tired and i don't know why i did it!! DH said he was awake and heard- if he was awake then why the F*&$ didn't he get up and help??? collared him this mornign about it and he said 'there's nothing i could have done'... its not only feeding that she needs!! He then says i can do nothing all day- with a baby, a 3.5yo and a puppy in the house? i dont think so!!

Diege · 22/08/2009 10:50

GLASK, sorry for rubbish night. I don;t blame you for swearing fuck goodness knows I do it enough under my breath with ds at times. You're only human after all! I would give dh a bit of a talking to too; he could at least offer to take over for a bit if he's awake anyway!

glaskham · 22/08/2009 10:58

Thanks Diege- I'm not a swearer normally- and i feel so bad that it was aimed at her!!

DH will be getting a good talking to tonight- i'm putting the DD's to bed and going up myself too- i'm so tired i need it!! Not like i can get a nap either- have to go to the post office, wash last nights tea pots sort out the washing and put it out... then i had to sort DD1's 3-6mth clothing this morning, as it looks like she's shooting through her 0-3 very fast... needed to see what i still need to buy her in the next size!!

I also have a pile of stuff i need to list on ebay so i can clear my house!!

Diege · 22/08/2009 11:09

Snap, also have e-bay on the to-do list today! I think an ealry night would be in order too Glask, you must feel shattered , though there is x-factor tonight . Having said that dds have got into that thing on bbc1 - total wipeout or something similar? - so will have to watch Mr.Cowell on ITV2 tomorrow...
Decided to try fast flow teats with ds and he is fine on them. Just seems odd moving up to 6 month teats when he is 10 weeks! Kept down his 10.30 feed though, so fingers crossed!

glaskham · 22/08/2009 11:15

I love total wipeout too Diege- DS loves watching it and laughs all the way throguh!! You should watch the USA version- its even wackier!! The wonders of SKY+!! I'm gonna record both and DH can watch what he wants or can play his PS3 if he wants to watch em with me tomorrow...

I have no motivation or drive today!! DD2 is still just being a cranky bum- wont settle for her morning nap when she'd normally sleep from 9-11am... and she's still winging on and off now, not even considered sleeping yet!!

glaskham · 22/08/2009 11:25

right... i'm off to sort myself out- get soe housework done and get to the post office after some butties.

Slap my wrists if i'm back before mid-afternoon!!

Diege · 22/08/2009 11:27

Will do . Must get on here too - so much to do I'm paralyzed by the burden of it all so am surfing net instead . Must start by doing last night's pots

spottywotwot · 22/08/2009 12:36

got my 3 parcels of boden this morning all gorgeous lol @ me. before i looked on website alot of stuff seems to be 5 weeks etc for stuff.
