How's everyone doing? Have been ridiculously busy with people staying - last visitor tomorrow and she's only coming for the day, thank goodness.

DH and I took DD out for her first grown-up meal with Mummy and Daddy tonight, just to Pizza Express. She was so busy staring at the people at the other tables I'm amazed she managed to eat as much as she did .

Hello!Back from hols - we all had a great time, though 'knackered' doesn't come close . Don't think I had realised that life with an 8 week old and 3 active dds and 'full on' days would be so tiring...I missed my lunchtime nap . Having said that ds is sleeping through..I wake him at 10.30 ish for a feed, then he sleeps until 7/7.30am, and not esp hungry either. Will have the dilemma of cutting back the dream feed soon
Had a lovely day with Kayz and family - the dds love Freddie and can't wait until Jacob 'does stuff' like Dylan
Will try and skim through now to catch up

essenceofSES · 15/08/2009 22:22

Hi!

Welcome back Diege We've missed you!
V of J sleeping through!
Hope you manage to get some rest now you're home!!

Kooky - you sound v v busy for someone with just a few weeks to go! Meal out sounds good though!

We currently have a houseful as it's O's baptism tomorrow. Am really excited and actually a bit emotional. The last time we had so many close friends & family together was our wedding.
Fingers crossed for good weather as we're doing a BBQ at ours afterwards.
Will post some photos next week.

Diege · 16/08/2009 08:41

Morning! Baptism sounds exciting SES and will be nice to have a housefuol to fuss over O . Think J sleeping through is probably good luck more than anything, though I credit about 20% to gf - those 7am starts and staying in until 3.45pm in the early days can't count for nothing
Have had a skim through last night. So sorry to hear about BIL GLASK, that's sad news .
Hi KOOKY! Meal out sounds good - pizza express a fave of ours too.
KAYZ, have been thinking about gf and Dylan. As I said, don;t think I'd bother with full-on gf at 8 months - as you say he'll find his own routine in time, but I would get quite strict about nighttime feeds, and probably let him cry it out a bit/offer boiled water (as long as he's eating well in the day). You really need your sleep, esp with going back to work next week xx
Arghh, my brain is woolly, have a blur of sore hips/pelvis (STT?), new house plans (Nat?)and crazy shopping .
Have dh's sister and niece over today - ok, but would have preferred a day to get unpacked etc.. Hope everyone is ok and enjoying the weekend

Kayzr · 16/08/2009 08:57

Morning,

Hello Diege!!!

Well there was no waking from Dylan last night!! Wooooooo!!! DS1 got us up at 10 to 6 but he just played in his room until half 6.

Have a good day Ses!

Diege · 16/08/2009 09:02

Morning KAYZ! Excellent on D sleeping through . Dds were also awake here 6ish, as usual, but not having that middle of the night feed really makes such a difference doesn't it!
Have decided that the diet must commence immediately! Will do slimming world as it suits me, and need to lose 2 stone!!!

tinkistheresidentshopper · 16/08/2009 09:42

morning

ses - hope that baptisim went well

diege - glad to have you back

brackens tooth seems to have gone away she has awful nappy rash bless her and keeps eating everything - her bodysuits, bibs, clothes, toys etc. hopefully it will return

dd1 seems fine @ swimming lesson with dh

off to see my friend baby @ 11am lily-rose she was born on monday

bumpsnowjustplump · 16/08/2009 15:11

Hello everyone. Sorry I have not been on at all. Things are really tough at the moment... DS is teething (I think anyway) and has not slept for two nights.. DP and I tried doing stints but he screams if he can not see me so I have been up most of the time with him. He is screaching and crying all the time and will not feed. He is only feeding (milk feeds) about twice a day and twice in the night... I am so tired and feel so depressed that I keep breaking down as well......

Oh and top it all off someone crashed into our new car on Friday and just drove off.....

As you can probably tell I am feeling very stressed and battered at the moment and not really in the mood for anything...

Sorry for the me me post and as soon as things start improving I will be back on again...

kookykid · 16/08/2009 19:27

Sorry to hear things are so crap, Bump. Sounds like things are getting on top of you, not surprisingly, any one of those things would be enough to cope with, but that's such a lot all at once. Is there anyway you can get some rest during the day if you have to be up with DS at night? And so for you about your car. There really are some wankers out there.

Welcome back, Diege! Your hols sound like lots of fun and very impressed J is sleeping through.

Good news about Dylan, Kayz, hope he keeps it up! I think I did Pick Up, Put Down at about 8 months with DD. Bit hard going though!

How did the baptism go, Ses?

Hope you had a good trip to see your friend and her new baby, Tink.

So, my run of visitors is finally at an end! Am intending to collapse on the sofa tonight and watch Ugly Betty which I recorded. Can't wait! Am also very excited as I'm meeting my doula for the first time tomorrow. Have been having some quite strong Braxton Hicks at night and hoping this little one doesn't arrive just yet... need another few days at least to prepare and REALLY hoping that he'll wait until my Mum arrives form Australia at the end of the month.

tinkistheresidentshopper · 16/08/2009 19:44

sorry bump

baby was lovely and cuddly had lunch out and went to library and a park

GruffaloSoldier · 16/08/2009 21:57

hi all

just a quick message as I am on DH's laptop as my laptop is out of memory so wont let me on the net, will sort it tomorrow. I am also preparing to whoop his arse at wii fit

Diege - lovely to see you back. glad you had a good hol. Great that J sleeps through, GC i back to doing that too which is such a relief as it went off for a week ad a half. now drema feeds between 10.30-11 and wakes up chatty and smiley at 7.30 and like J not especially hungry!im preparing to drop 10.30 feed too but he takes it so hungrily still i think im just going to reduce it really slowly.

I also need to loose 2stone - eek!I have put on loads more weight since GC's birth!

Bump - sorry you are having such bad times at the mo it really does not seem fair after all you have been through I don't do hugs very often but poor you hope things look up for you soon.

Ses - lovely weather for baptism and bbq today. if all goes fine with GCs injections I'd love to come to the meet up if everyone else can do afternoon??

Kayz - great about DS2 sleeping through.

Right this comp is driving me nuts! hello to all ive missd but i have to go. hopefully i will be back on mine tomorrow!

Starshinetiger · 17/08/2009 07:18

Morning all. Have managed brief catch up in last couple of days here, but no posting. Struggling with lack of sleep

Bumps - am so sorry for you and your DS. Really hoping things improve for you soon - you are anazing. Are you seeing consultant any time soon?

Glask, so sorry to hear about your BIL.

Diege - glad you had good hols. You were missed on here. Trying not to be too envious of J sleeping through - yay for you though.

Gruff - also glad for you that GC sleeping so well.

Lightning - what I could see of house links, looked fab!

Tink - you are shopping queen!

Sorry for anything I've missed, would appreciate your advice though ladies. Am soooo exhausted from DD's lack of sleep. Have made progress on how she gets to sleep - I can now get her to fall asleep on my arm, so she no longer needs to feed to sleep, which is great - BUT, now she's not sleeping so well at night and won't bf if she's not hungry! That is a good thing, but I can't be doing with being wide awake at 3am for 2 hours - grr.

So, I've tried consistent bedtime routine - taking her up for bath at 6pm (leaving DS downstairs in front of CBeebies ) get her ready for bed and feed. But, if she's not tired, she won't settle, so then I bring DS up at 6.50, clean teeth, in jamas, read stories with her with us and then try her again - it seems in last few nights to be turning into a battle which lasts until, well, last night 10pm. That meant night was not so bad last night - she woke at 1.05 and 4.15 for feeds at then up at 6am for day. Hoping we might try a decent routine today, but we have to drive to my Mum's in her first morning nap today. But if I can get her to have a decent nap at lunchtime and then just keep her awake, screaming and all until bath at 6pm, she might settle then?! Anyway, any tips on what I should be doing, gratefully received, but my main question is - should I try offering her baby rice to get her more settled? She's 5 months (22 weeks) and I really had hoped to hold out until 26 weeks and start Baby Led Weaning, but am getting exhausted. She won't take any more bf than I give her - if she's not interested, she just pulls off and won't feed, but am thinking maybe she's telling me she needs something more filling?

Is now causing DH and I to fall out - I know he thinks we should just let her cry it out, but I don't want to. Last night, he took a stint with her at about 9.30pm and she just became totally beside herself - really sobbing and screaming. As soon as I took her, she calmed down and then I bed her and she fell asleep within mins (she has to get so exhausted and then a quick suckle sends her off - and she won't take a dummy instead). She was so upset, she was still doing those after-cry sobs in her sleep for an hour afterwards

So, apologies for the me, me, me post and for it being so long, but any thoughts on the weaning, or advice on the sleeping gratefully received.

Hi to Sorky, IDOB, LBOT, GYo,Moos, STT, Kooky and anyone else I've missed.

Starshinetiger · 17/08/2009 07:19

As am going to Mum's, I might not get on here until much later today.

Also - so sorry i can't make meet up on Thurs, but will do my darndest to make next one.

Diege · 17/08/2009 08:34

Morning! Have all 4 at home now for the next 2 weeks - am counting down the hours til bedtime already
LB, so sorry for the rubbish time you're having. Not sure what to suggest really, sounds nightmarish Really hope the situation settles down as soon as possible - is there any chance you can catch 40 winks in the day as others have said?
GRUFF, think I'll graduazlly start bringing dream feed forward to 10pm, 5 mins per day as gf suggests, then if all well, will cut it down by half an ounce each night. J only took 4 ounces this morning, and that was an effort, so thinking he's taking enough in the day to see him throguh the night and not especially needing the dream feed. Like you though he does gulp (a couple of ounces) down, so sticking with it for now. Think gf recommends keeping it until 6 months anyway, so a long time to go yet!
STAR, sounds tough going with night wakings . It does sound like dd is getting over tired, hence struggling to drop of into a deep sleep come the evening time. I think even if she has a good lunchtime nap (say, 12 till 2.30) she may well need another shorter nap before bathtime (going off gf here) She should then be ready for bed 7-7.30ish. It's so tough working out what to do for the best, esp when others are proferring opinions left right and centre! I might also start to introduce a bit of baby rice - don't think it would do any harm at this stage, though won't make her 'fuller' at this stage, just get her used to new textures etc.
KOOKY, hope you enjoyed your relaxing night last night! Must be great to have visitors gone
Right, better get on with the breakfasts..

tinkistheresidentshopper · 17/08/2009 09:41

morning

sst - sorry things are tough @ bedtime

idreamofbeanie · 17/08/2009 09:56

Morning,

Diege - great to see you back and glad you had a fab hol. 4 kids at home sounds like hard work for the next 2 weeks but when they go back to school it'll feel like another holiday !

Star - sorry you are having trouble getting DD to sleep. I hope you have a lovely relaxing day at your mums and maybe fit in a nap or 2.

Gruff - hope you kicked butt on the wii fit. I'm trying to convince DP to buy me one for xmas to help get back to exercising after the birth.

Kooky - hope you enjoyed your relaxing evening and it all goes well with meeting the doula today.

Bump - you seem to be having a really tough time of it and at the moron who hit your car.

I had a lovely weekend. Out for a friends birthday on Friday night (although I had to leave early as I was shattered), visited friends on Saturday then relaxed and did nothing yesterday. It was so nice to see our friends kids on Sat - they have a DD 2yr and DS 5m plus another couple were there with their DD also 2yr and they announced they are expecting their 2nd in March which is lovely. We had a good catch up while the girls charged around with their prams then they decided they wanted to sing nursery rhymes with us and I had a giggle watching then teach DP all the actions.

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 17/08/2009 11:23

Good morning

Welcome back Diege, hols sound good

Sorry for all the sleepless nights/feeding troubles/selfish twats who obviously can't drive ( LB, still will never get my head round someone causing damage accidentally and then driving off )

Well our house is on the market, or at least will be officially by the end of the day, sign's up, it should be on Rightmove by the end of the day, in the local paper on Friday... was a bit sad watching them put the sign up, we know we have to move, this is just too small for us, the schools are pretty useless past juniors age, blah blah blah, but, I bought 2 of my babies home to this house All the christmas', birthdays, first steps...

But, on a brighter note, we went to see the house (anyone who is very nosy interested, if you go to RM, search for 'Forton, Preston, Lancashire' look for 4 beds, if you're looking at the sales, it's on at £350,000 (or maybe just slightly under - can't remember now!) or if looking at renting it's £875 p.c.m. TBH though, the few pictures there do it no justice whatsoever. The whole house is just beautiful, it's all big and light and it's got loads of 'finishing touches' not mentioned on the details, just silly little things that add a bit of the old va va voom to it! Like the internal doors are all solid oak, the soft close cupboards/drawers everywhere, and the stone floor in the kitchen/utility, you can barely make it out on the pics but it is just stunning!

But, none of it matters because there is no way it will still be available at the end of this month, and even then we would really struggle to get the money together in time for all the moving costs, the letting agent's fees, the first months rent etc. for the month after, and of course I need to know I can get DS1 into the village school, which I can't find out till the school re-opens. Am on tenderhooks waiting for the letting agent to ring for her 'feedback' after the viewing, just hoping and praying they will give us some time, no reason why they should, and I know they've done a fair few viewing already.

We really shouldn't have gone to see it, knowing we can't actually move just yet. The only thing that is slightly in our favour is that it backs onto some nurseries (the flower kind) and right behind the house is some very old dodgy looking greenhouses that don't look like they are being used anymore. Now to me, it doesn't look exactly pretty, but, I'd rather that than other houses/train tracks/motorways etc. but the letting agent did say it is putting lots of people off, so that is our only glimmer of hope I think!

Anyway, have rambled enough methinks! Don't know what it is about MN, once I start, I can't stop! Spose I'd best go get showered, maybe

P.S. I think the Cars thing is slowly coming to an end, it's only been on twice over the weekend, and not at all today, have actually started to miss it!! LOL

bumpsnowjustplump · 17/08/2009 12:35

Another bad night... For all of you that know how much I hate MIL, I have asked her to come over to help me this afternoon so I can get some sleep... Yes that is how bad it has got...

So I have fed the kids, done the washing up, hidden the ironing, ordered my food shop online (first time ever) and sold my soul to the devil (well MIL anywasy but close enough) all in one day.....

tinkistheresidentshopper · 17/08/2009 13:08

hi lighting - great news about house up for sale

bumps - enjoy your sleep

IWroteOffLightningMcQueen · 17/08/2009 15:34

Ooooh ooooh oooohhhh oooooohhhhhhhhhh

Just spoke to DH, we think we might be able to do it We'll be living on beans on toast with toast and beans for a bit of variety(!!) for the next month but oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Am just waiting for the letting agent to get back to me about whether the owner will wait till we've checked the school out, (can't put deposit down till we know, if he doesn't get in the village school, it's miles to the next one!) got some serious number crunching to do with DH tonight, and then we'll know for sure

Ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Kayzr · 17/08/2009 15:57

Just a quick quick post!! DH has man flu!!

Lightning, that sounds brilliant!!! Hope it all works out for you!!

I think we have found the perfect holiday cottage for our holiday next year, it is in the middle of nowhere and I love it!! Hopefully we'll get it booked when we get paid next.

Hope you are all ok. Going back to look after my 3 children

Moosy · 17/08/2009 15:58
