quick hi and morning

sorry about bil Glask. Also FWIW, I dont think you slagged off jars at all, We are all entitled to our own views.

I 've not got there yet but i know i will be like you - wont be able to taste stuff unless i know whats in it. So DH and I will be making our own predominantly.

I have to say im not looking fwd to weaning. All that orange vomit

idreamofbeanie · 13/08/2009 11:28

Morning all,

glask - sorry about bil , sounds like he is having a really tough few months.

Kayz - glad the lesson went well. Have a good day in Whitby.

Hi Tink, GYo, STT, any other lurkers.

I am aching from yoga last night. We spent quite a lot of time standing in 'challenging' poses and trying to breath through the discomfort. My thighs clearly aren't used to the workout!

My mum and gran are coming down to visit for the afternoon and bringing my little niece with them so DB can go house hunting today. It'll be lovely to see them and it's such a sunny day I'm glad I can head home soon rather than being stuck in the office .

GruffaloSoldier · 13/08/2009 11:29

Hi all

I am back in England! GC's jabs are at 11.10am on the 20th!

Got back to Gatwick yesterday and a kid swung the neighbouring cars door open and whacked our car really hard, has left a dent and big scratch. Am really gutted! Then we got home to find two bills for congestion charge that we forgot to pay when we went to see my sister! Just had to pay 120 quid!am so cross at myself for forgetting!

Glask - I am sorry about BIL

re jars Boots and I think tesco do a really good range I think it begins with 'O' its all organic and no additives etc and actually states what isn't in there on the label so you can be sure. Its basically all natural but good for emergencies or if you are going away and its in foil pouches for freshness. my friend told me about them!they also do porridge and muesli I will try and find a link.

Kayz - just keep at it with the driving. anxiety will get better with time. practice makes perfect and all that!

Hello to everyone - sorry for rubbish catch up have been away far too long!

oooh SES sorry meant to say christening gowns sound like a dilemma!not sure what I would do. maybe do DH's side and then promise mum your family gown for next one. Did you wear one and DH wear the other??

Right I need to get showered and dressed!

GruffaloSoldier · 13/08/2009 11:35

not actally o but 'plum baby'

here

and here

tinkistheresidentshopper · 13/08/2009 12:20

hi

glas - sorry about car and charges !!

glad u r back safe have a great aft

essenceofSES · 13/08/2009 15:05

Just quickly checking in...

Glask - sorry to hear about your BIL. Hope the treatment works quickly for him.

Kay - well done with the driving

Gruff - do you think you may come on to Reigate after GC's jabs? Understand if you don't want to but it would be really good to see you again and introduce out boys!

O's weigh in this morning went really well. A month ago he was still hovering just above the 2nd centile and he is now between the 9th and 25th and weighs 12lb 2.5oz. I'm so pleased he's moving up the centiles

In laws arrived yesterday. Their christening gown is a knitted gown and hooded cape so I'm currently thinking that we may use my family's gown as it's cooler in cotton and my inlaws knitted cape as the white garment. Just need to get DH to agree.

I iced the cake yesterday and am quite pleased with my efforts as I have never been particularly skilled at that sort of thing.

sorky · 13/08/2009 17:21

just nipping on for Glask
I'm sure you're already aware that her development is likely to be delayed simply because she came earlier than expected, therefore I would wait until she is physically able to be weaned rather than the 'correct' age.
If she has to sit fully supported in a chair she isn't ready.
The other major sign is losing the tongue thrust, once she has integrated that reflex she can control moving the food around her mouth.

Apologies if you know all this already.

I personally wouldn't worry about the iron/nutrients, as you said she'll have supplements for a while longer yet.

Very sorry to hear of your BIL

Sparklytwinkletoes · 13/08/2009 17:27

Hi everyone, I tried to get on this morning but couldn't connect to MN - did no-one else have any problems?

Had my hair done and am pleased with it, had about 3 inches chopped off the length so that it should last until after LO arrives - although not sure the colour will last that long. She's done a good job of toning the colour down a bit though, so at least when roots do come through, it shouldn't be too scary!

Am getting eyebrows done tomorrow and I'll feel much better when that's done!

Got home to find two parcels - my trousers from blooming marvellous and the pj's from Glask. They are beautiful and I tried them on straight away, I think I nearly feel sexy in them (sorry Glask !). I'm such a cheap skate (when it comes to buying stuff for me) that I always end up asking for pj's for christmas, and despite asking for 'grown up' ones, I always seem to end up with ones with teddy bears on . Now I can parade around in these and say 'see, look at these beautiful GROWN UP pyjamas!' . Have already washed them and just need to dry them so I can hopefully wear them tonight! Yay to no more saggy baggy nighties!

I didn't mean to make it sound like I thought you were slagging off jars - I didn't at all, I was just rambling! My DH hated them (texture issues, like you) but I insisted that if he was looking after DS and giving him instant food that he had to try it first

He initially resisted, saying that he could test temperature by dipping his finger in, and I pointed out that it wasn't just about temperature, it was also about checking that it was 'fit' for eating. It was a couple of months later that my SIL was looking after DS, and I'd left her some instant custard pots, and when I got back, she said she hadn't fed it coz when she tasted it, it seemed odd... I had a try and it tasted of mushrooms - despite being within date, there was def. something wrong. Poor DH - destined to taste 'Grandma's Sunday Lunch' - but it was nice to be proven right!

Ses, sounds like a nice compromise re christening gowns. Hope DH sees it that way too.

Gruffalo, good to see you. I really rated the plum baby range, if a little pricey... DS loved the sweetcorn one - can't remember what it was mixed with, but I thought it had a lovely flavour too!

Its taken me ages to type this message - goodness only knows how many other posts there will have been, although given the current rate, possibly not that many.

Hi

I couldn't get on this morning either.

Had a gorgeous day in Whitby but couldn't get hold of Diege. So we're back tomorrow. I don't mind, I love it in Whitby.

I use jars for ds2. He only has the Hipp organic range. It is quite time consuming with ds1 and ds2 wouldn't eat anything we made him. I have no idea why as ds1 had 90% home made stuff and loved it.

I have booked my theory test for the 11th September. Hopefully I'll pass it first time.

Hope you are all ok!

Starshinetiger · 13/08/2009 20:11

Just a flying post, as both DC are in bed and DH is at home this evening. We've had a lovely "Day out with Thomas" down in Hampshire - DS loved it and both DC were really good all day. DD slept from 8.30pm to 1am and then 'til 5.15am this morning, which is fab, I even think she would have gone back to sleep if I had realised she was wet through (despite my changing her nappy at 1am feed time) and not just tried to feed her and then bring her downstairs when she didn't go back to sleep... Ah well, fingers crossed, we'll get there.

Couldn't get on MN this morning either... (as anyone may have seen if you're on the Wagon Facebook page).

Ses - really sorry, but I can't make the meet up on 20th any more. We're having our patio done and the guy has had a cancellation for next week, so he's brought our job forward. I'm taking the children to my Mum's (which is north of London), as the only route from garden to street is through the house, so I can't get from hers to Reigate. So sorry, as I still haven't made a meet-up, but will try for next one if there is one.

DD is still clinging to her 9th centile line - HV tried to talk to me about weaning when I was there getting her weighed, but she's still only 21.5 weeks, so am holding out for now - she is now sitting in highchair for periods while we eat (we always eat with DS), mainly so she can see what is going on. She's really interested in the food, but I'm going to a weaning session on 25th August and really want to try BLW, so am going to hold out at least until then. Didn't wean DS until 25 weeks, so am hoping to do the same with DD.

to STT, Sorky, Bumpy, Kayz, Lightning, Gruff, Tink, Glask, GYo, Moos and anyone else lurking (rather think many are far too busy playing bejeweled blitz to be on here )

bumpsnowjustplump · 13/08/2009 20:47

OMG DS crawled... I am in shock.. He has been going up on his hands and feet for ages but just stays there like he is doing press ups. But he just went on to his knees and crawled once and then collapsed and then got up and crawled again and collapsed again... I am in shock he isn't even six months yet....

Starshinetiger · 13/08/2009 20:50

Got my fingers crossed for some good sleep for you once he's worn himself out then Bumps! That's fabby - better have your wits about you now, eh?!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 14/08/2009 08:08

Oh goodness Bumps! What a strong little man you have, and very determined clearly!

Like SST says, you're in trouble now - lots of baby proofing all over again!

Glask - pj's got an airing last night! Very comfy too. I didn't notice when I first tried them on that the top has slits which I assume are for nursing, but with my somewhat gargantuan ample norkage, there's no way I could feed using them, they only come half way down my cleavage! So lovely not to have baby kicking the waistband of my pj's all night in defiance or waking up with uncomfortable knots of nightie scrunched under my back. And yes, I know I could sleep naked but I like my nightwear!

OP posts:
glaskham · 14/08/2009 10:48

STT- so glad you like them- i was also like you and could in no way use them for feeding!! Hence they became redundant a week after having DD2. I have to say i really liked them as they were so nice and 'grown up'... I only got them about 4 weeks before she arrived though- was hoping for more wear out of them than i got. So glad they've found a good home now though!!

And also i just felt as you'd said that you'd used them after i'd said how i dispised them, i felt i may have offended you because you had used them- and as i hadn't explained why i dislike them thought you may have felt i was being a jar-snob!!

glaskham · 14/08/2009 10:56

DS & DD1 want to start dance classes- would it be wrong for them both to be in the same classes? they both want to do ballet... i'm a little worried they may mess about...

tinkistheresidentshopper · 14/08/2009 12:48

morning

i use jars for bracken use heinz mums own he luvs them dd1 was so fussy wouldnt eat enything!!

received - tesco clubcard vouchers getting back to school ones off website doublong up so i can get her more uniform bits

have bought brackens xmas pressies online from elc my first shop and wooden posting letterbox

getting school shoes tom

we popped out to tesco for our trip out of house today

Sparklytwinkletoes · 14/08/2009 12:48

Glask - not at all a jar snob! For a change, I wasn't being in the slightest bit sensitive, just rambling .

Re dancing, I think you'll find that they'll be fine in a class together, because when they are under the care of the 'teacher' rather than mum, they tend to mess about less. That's in my experiences with my nieces anyway.

Dance classes sound like fun. The way DS is going, I think he'd really enjoy some kind of gymnastic / trampolining type activity, but not really sure that 6 weeks prior to birth is a good time to start a new hobby for him! Think I'll do some looking around and see what's available, then I can decide when No2 has arrived.

I've just had an enormous egg mayo and ham sandwich, washed down with lemon fanta and rounded off with a bounty bar. I can't remember the last time I had a bounty - yum!

Have had my eyebrows trimmed this morning, which always makes me feel better. I'm not sure about my hair cut from yesterday though. I like the feel of it being shorter, but somehow, don't feel the shape is quite right. Colour is nice though and at least it will look neat between now and birth... I hope!

OP posts:
glaskham · 14/08/2009 13:04

STT- new haircut's are always a pain in the bum- and i hate doing somethign different because its up to the hairdresser to get it right!! I'm cutting my friends hair tomorrow and she's 30wks PG and wants a lot off so its easier to cope with while heavily PG with a toddler... she's also cutting mine in return for me- need it doing before my nephews christening at the end of the month... also need to colour it too.

Thanks for advise re dancing- i was kinda in the same mind... but just wasn't sure. DS also wants to do a modern class too but i've said we'll see how the ballet goes first. There's also a gymnastic class at a leisure centre near my mums, but they start at 5... i used to go when i was a child and was really good but then mum and dad made me stop for some reason, luckily carried on in the garden etc, but am very unfit now so it all went to pot!!

glaskham · 14/08/2009 13:17

Tink- i'm also getting the double up vouchers on the back to school too. The girls shoes only start in a size 9 though and DD1 is only a 6... but if i get her the size 9 then she'll have them ready for when her feet grow.

tinkistheresidentshopper · 14/08/2009 15:48

hi

my ddi is only a size 6 off to clarks tom has awkward feet

going to use vouchers 2 get 3 more white polo shirts and 2 more pinafore dresses

Moosy · 14/08/2009 22:40

Evening all, sorry I've been a bit rubbish at keeping up, I've been lurking and reading just not getting round to posting!

Glask, sorry to hear about your BIL, hope it's better news when he has his next appointment. Good luck with your appointment for DD2 too, stand your ground on weaning, you did it for the FF, you can do it again for food! How's your BF training thingy going?

Kayz, sounds like your driving's coming on a treat, and good luck for your theory test!

NJ (nice new name btw!) well done on your theory test too, hope all goes well with the house, and the one you have your eye on looks nice from the 1 link that I got to work!

Bumps - wow for crawling already! He must be a strong boy!

LBOT, your photos on FB are beautiful, he's a handsome boy!

Hello,

DS2 is awake so we are too. This is starting to make me mad now. I was talking to Diege about it and she said there is no point doing GF with him now. So we're just going to do what we did with DS1 and just give him a bedtime routine. Doubt it'll work though.

Hope you are all ok and asleep.

idreamofbeanie · 15/08/2009 12:04

Hi all,

I've had a very lazy morning this morning which was just what I needed. Work is really hectic just now as I have loads to finish before I go. It's quite tiring but at least I only have 14 working days left . We went out for a meal for a friends birthday last night and I had to leave at 10 as I was falling asleep on the table . Off to another friends this afternoon - will be lovely to see them and their kids as it has been ages so I'll have to try to stay awake this time.

I'm a bit worried - I have had an achy pain in my pelvis for the last few days. It's really low down, sort of on the end of the bone and it's worse at night or if I've been walking a lot. Sometimes when the baby kicks/punches I get a sharp shock there even though she can't have her foot/hand that low down. Last night I could barely get my pants on as I couldn't lift my leg off the floor . Does that sound like SPD? It's uncomfortable rather than really painful just now but I'm scared it's going to just get worse over the next few weeks. I see my midwife on Tuesday so I'll ask her then.

Sorry for me me me post but I'll stop now before this gets too long.
