Gruff, if he likes to chew but doesn't like hard teething toys he might like this, we got one for DD2 when she was very small as she didn't like chewing hard things. It also has the added benefit of being absorbant (and machine washable) so prevents the icky drool puddles! She had a bean too and I've ordered a banana for my brother's baby (due in 10 days - woohoo!).

Diege · 31/07/2009 21:29

Evening!
I'd say STT's spot on GRUFF re: weanig advice. The bits they get don't really d much for hunger anyway, more about new flavours etc. Having said that I did wean dd1 at 12 weeks (the advice then), and other dds at 4/5 months. Again, standard advuice then was 4 months. I'd say maybe give it a try - maybe as you say with baby rice? You can always leave it if you don't feel ready after all.
SES, wow wedding speech sounds exciting, if a little scary. Think how great you'll feel when it's done though
KAYZ, have checked out new IO non-pregnancy range, and while there are a few nice bits, find it all a bit 'womaney' if that makes sense
LBOT, birth sounds great, if a little drawn out - you must be shattered! Very similar to my birth with dd1 - don;t know many people who don;t have an epidural after ARM!! Congrats again
Thanks for all the nice comments about the house - feel like it's baby no.5 And SES there's no chain too!!! (or indeed for our buyers). So will really be the survey that makes or breaks the deal!
Very tired after all the packing (not that it's finished). J also quite demanding today, and has been getting hungry more frequently - must be this 6 week growth spurt they talk of..
Will pop in tomorrow if I get the chance before setting off for hols...I just know tomorrow will be one of those 'shouty' days until we're finally packed up and in the car!

Evening!

Had another busy day with DD. Finding it tiring, but trying to cherish this time with her before DS arrives.

LBOT - huge congrats again! FWIW I think you did fantasically after an exhausting few days of labour. T looks gorgeous - enjoy your babymoon and I hope you get home soon.

Bump - glad DD is feeling a bit better. Bet CBeebies and chocolate helped - it always works for me!

IDOB - I'm doing well, thanks! Feeling tired and occaionally a bit sore in the pelvis/hips, but otherwise have been fine. Def very different 2nd time around and I'm sure I haven't put on nearly as much weight this time - DD keeps me active and away from the fatty-snacks! How's things with you?!

Ses - love the dress, it looks really flattering and the colour is really unusual. Amazing to be asked to make a speech too, I'd be a bag of nerves I think.

Kayz - at your DS needing jelly babies to feel better! It's jelly-beans and Smarties in our house! Currently she gets 2 in the morning if she stays in her bed all night and doesn't wake us up. Nothing like a bit of bribery!

STT - glad all well and the staff were good at the hospital. Hopefully it put your mind at ease about your weight gain too. I'm so sure you're having a girl! Have you heard of this website? A friend who's baby was breech for ages said that floating in a warm swimming pool on her back was what turned her baby.

Hi everyone else - sorry if I missed you out.

GruffaloSoldier · 31/07/2009 21:46

Diege - I agree the house is lovely!I'm very as I would love a house!Am also very into old houses. We are in 2 bed flat in centre of town and really want to move. But wont be able to for a while.

Moosy - wow that looks great. DS will chew anything!!! He is desperate to get my hands in his mouth. If I go anywhere near him he is pulling at me trying to get my hands

DS has a new trick BTW that is shocking everyone. He pulls himself up from sitting to standing just holding my hands and then stands. He is sooo strong! I try stop him doing it but he growls at me and then sstarts to yell at me

GruffaloSoldier · 31/07/2009 21:48

oh forgot to say SES love th pic of ds on fb. soooo cute!looks very cheeky

Hi KK! lovelt to see you on here again. Glad you are managing lots of quality time with DD and enjoying it too

bumpsnowjustplump · 31/07/2009 22:09

Gruff ds is also teething and it is so bad.. he chews on everything.... He (as you know) also has reflux and we struggle to keep feeds down. If he doesn't take the morning feed then I would say he isn't hungry. I had a simula dilema at four months and did a thread about it, (i can find it if you like) A wise lady told me that sucking creates a vacuume which is agony if they have teeth coming through. So i now put teething gel on his gums 5 mins before a feed. This seems to help him feed. I then repeat it when ever he gets cranky....

bumpsnowjustplump · 31/07/2009 22:11

what is simula???? similar is what i should have typed...

GruffaloSoldier · 31/07/2009 22:13

Thanks for that Bump, what age can you use teething gel from? did you use it at 4 months?

bumpsnowjustplump · 31/07/2009 22:15

yes the one i have is from birth... It is dentinox... i had toothache the other day and used some and it is very good....

bumpsnowjustplump · 31/07/2009 22:16

I have been using it for weeks way before 4 months as ds has been teething for ages!!! He has not teeth yet though...

GruffaloSoldier · 31/07/2009 22:18

thanks bumps that is fab. DS is only 15 weeks so that sounds good. Im using those herbal teething powders at the mo, but might try the dentinox then. Thanks so much!!

LOL at simula I didnt even notice

idreamofbeanie · 31/07/2009 22:25

Wow, it's been very chatty this evening.

Kooky - glad to hear you are doing well. I'm very well too - a bit tired as I haven't been sleeping well and rotten heartburn but that's about it. I wanted to keep my weight gain to 2 stone - I think that's a sensible amount to get back off - and so far I've put on 1st 4lb which is okay.

Ses - the dress is gorgeous, the colour is lovely. How flattering to be asked to make a speech but nervewracking too.

Kayz - your DS is so cute! at the jellybeans.

STT - I'm glad the hospital staff were surprisingly nice and helpful. My LO is breech too (I don't know if she is footling breech) but the midwife was totally unconcerned at this stage and just said she has loads of time and space to move. I'm going to try sitting on my birth ball and spending some time looking elegant on all fours with bum in the air just in case it helps though. Hope they are both head down by our next appt!

Diege - have a great hol. Very after seeing pics of your new house.

Gruff - LOL at your growling cub . I hope his sleeping settles soon.

Hi Sorky, Star, anyone else I've missed.

bumpsnowjustplump · 31/07/2009 22:27

I have a tube in every room of the house, it is a life saver.... (if only for 20 mins or so)!! Right have done the dream (or not so dream tonight as he woke up screaming when dp set the fire detectors off) feed and am now going to bed... Lets pray for a good night tonight. DD has been dosed up on calpol and ds has a full belly so things are looking good....

Night all

GruffaloSoldier · 31/07/2009 22:41

Hi IDOB!

Night Bumps! I am just gearing up for dream feed too. Hope you get a good nights sleep!

Diege · 01/08/2009 10:20

Off now on hols!! Back in 2 weeks!! I am losing the will to live with final packing lark - remind me why I thought hols with baby and 3 others was a 'holiday'

essenceofSES · 01/08/2009 11:00

Diege - have a great time. I'm sure the packing is the worst bit and you will get to have a break yourself. I'm sure just the change of scenery will help. Look forward to hearing all about it!

Kayzr · 01/08/2009 11:07

Have a great time Diege! Wave as you go past Pickering!! See you next Monday!!
