Quick flying post - Gruff (and anyone else interested) I totally rate this toy Manhattan Toy Whoozit Cosmic Water Teether but can only find it on this site I've referenced. My Mum bought it in a shop local to her and DD loves it. She chews on different bits of it, but particularly loves the red nose (think she thinks it's a nipple, which is fine by me!!), also links the spindly strands and the teething ring (which can be detached by pulling off over the loop). I will definitely be buying this for the next friend I know who has a baby!

BB - I remember you, glad to hear things progressing well.

Diege - have a good holiday.

to everyone else.

P.S. STT - don't know about more experienced wagoners - think you must have been referring to Sorky! Thought you put things very well myself.

sorky · 01/08/2009 15:34

Dh has had the snip today I do actually feel a bit sad that I won't have anymore kids and so does he. I hope we aren't going regret this decision.

If you substitute experienced for old and bedraggled then yes I'm your gal.

Welcome back from a wee break BB good to see tour doing well and your pg is flying along well.

How's GC today?

Off to look at that toy Star, thanks for the link

Moosy · 01/08/2009 16:04

Collected the moses basket from Boots today, it looks nice but I'm not sure about it, it feels a bit cheap. It's this one, and it feels a bit flimsy and the material round the side isn't padded at all. What have you lot got and are they any good/worth the extra money?

Poor DH Sorky, is he very sore? DH wants to get 'done' so we don't accidentally breed again but he's a bit squeamish about the whole idea of it all.

Kayzr · 01/08/2009 16:13

Moosy, we have that Moses basket. It was really good we thought. I was quite upset when ds2 grew out of it by 2 months.

Moosy · 01/08/2009 16:15

Ah good that's reassuring, I was sort of hoping to be able to get something back for it afterwards but they don't seem to sell on ebay so I guess it's good that it didn't cost too much!

Cosmogirl · 01/08/2009 17:09

LBOT - big congratulations on the arrival of your little man. DD was 6.9 so another lighter one - but they grow so quick so enjoy every moment

BB - hello lady! Good to 'see' you...not long to go for you now. How exciting! Glad things are going well for you and DP/H.

Re: weaning - am going to wait until the 6 months for DD. Have read Gill Rapley and have my Ikea highchair so am all raring to go with the BLW . DD is doing ALOT of fist chewing too...I guess it must be teething-related but I suppose you never know until one of them pops through.

Still not managing to get on much but will keep my eyes peeled for any details of central London meet.

Hope everyone is having good Saturdays. Tis wet and damp here....where did the summer go??

essenceofSES · 01/08/2009 18:41

Dress arrived today!!! What great service is that!! Just tried it on and am pleased I got the 14 and not the 16 Just need to wear some seemless hold it all in knickers and I think I'll look almost respectable!

Was out for lunch with all the NCT ladies and babies today. We managed to find a pub that would be ok with 6 babies and had a good (if sober!) time.

Tonight I'm off to see a couple of friends and get take away. Taking O with me so DH will have a quiet evening.

Hello BB and Cosmo
Good to hear from you!

Sorky - hope your DH isn't too sore

tink - glad you're feeling better

LBOT - sounds like you and T are doing great. Hope you have a good first night home.

Hello Star, Moos, Kay, Gruff, IDOB, GYo and anyone else lurking!

bumpsnowjustplump · 01/08/2009 21:38

Oh no poor mr sorky.... And poor you sorky, you are bound to feel sad but I am sure you wont regret it you were so adamant your family was complete. And if things change they are reversable I am sure... (Well I think they are arn't they?)

Welcome back BB so glad things are going well for you....

DS had pureed parsnip and peas today mixed with water. I gave it to him when it was still warm and he gulped it down... he has only been taking a couple of spoonfulls of his food a day but today he ate all of it (about 10 spoonfuls) and then fed after as well......

I cant get him to take any fluids though. he wont take a bottle and only chews on cups. I have a TT one that has no non spill it comes out if you tip it up so he doesn't have to work to get it. But he still wont suck it..... Does BM still give enough water if we are giving a little bit of solids as well? Any ideas of how i can get fluids down him any other way? It is not the water he wont take, he wouldn't take bm any other way either so dont think juice will help!!!!!

WE have been out all day looking at cars and we have bought a new one that we pick up on Tuesday..... So pleased that we are getting rid of ours as I hate it but very nervous about the expence as i have no job to go back to so we are reliant on DP getting ot...... but he has never not done OT in the past..

GruffaloSoldier · 01/08/2009 22:03

Evening all

I am so tired today - GC was up at 3.45am and then after I winded him and gave him his teeth stuff he still wouldnt settle so eventually I gave him a feed and he slept til 6am, then he woke up for his dummy then went til 7am. Did not take his feed then though, not til later, and threw all the others completely but it was worth it for the sleep

Me and Dh looked into things further last night and read stuff about weaning and decided it was imperative that we wait til 6 months and do all we can to get there. Thanks again to everyone for all your words of support and guidance last night!

BB/hunnie - welcome back!the founder of the wagon has returned glad everything is going so well for you. did you know there is a facebook wagon? If you want to join let me know as I am administrator.

Star - thanks for link - I think I might have seen it at babies r us before. love the whoozit range. my fave is the whoozit winkel

Sorky - sorry to hear that you are but it is only natural that you are going to be sad. like 'end of an era' sort of thing. Look at it this way - it shows what a wonderful time you have had bringing your lovely children into the world and how fulfilling it was for you. If you were celebrating it it would be a bit wrong. ahh I cant explain properly but from what you said it seemed like you had thought it through loads etc and you will get used to the idea in time...

and if you do regret it there is always adoption

Ses - great about the dress

Tink- glad you feeling better.

Cosmo - hello again!

hello to everyone else !!

Moosy · 01/08/2009 22:19

Sorry you're feeling sad Sorky, I think what LB wrote on FB sums it up perfectly and I'm sure you won't regret it

I'm afraid I don't have any clever tricks to get water in to babies LB, although I did have a very good cup which I used to start DD2 on water, it had a removable non-spill thing and it didn't have a fliptop so the water poured out very easily, I got it from Asda and it looks like cow-print. I would have thought that while he's only having small amounts of food and the weather isn't hot that your BM would be fine for keeping him hydrated though. Perhaps it's worth keeping an eye out for signs of thirst though just to be on the safe side. Perhaps if he's thirsty he will drink more readily?

Feeling a bit achy today, I had a bit of SPD both times before but not until much later on, now my pelvis is hurting at the front especially when walking downstairs or if I step sideways or take a big step forwards. Does anyone have any tips on how to stop it getting any worse? I didn't have it badly enough for long enough to need treatment before and I was fitter then too, this time I seem to be falling apart already!

bumpsnowjustplump · 01/08/2009 22:24

I have a very very attractive SPD gurdle (is that how you spell it?) if you want it Moosy. It has velcro on it so fits all..... Other than that When sitting raise your feet, sit down when getting dressed, dont split your legs when getting in bath sit on the bath and put legs over together (same getting into and out of the car, bed ect. etc) ummmmmm lay with a pillow between your knees in bed, when rolling over in bed hold your knees together... i cant think of the others now. I had it really bad and ended up on crutches so i really feel your pain......

Moosy · 01/08/2009 22:52

Ha! My mum keeps telling me I need a girdle, but that's because she thinks I'm too big already "If I had to guess I'd put you at 6 months, we all wore girdles in our day, why don't you, your tummy looks like milk jelly!" I think she thinks I should be squeezing it all into a corset shame on me for showing that I'm pregnant!

Sorry, rant over! Yes please that would be very kind of you LB, poor you for getting it that badly I will follow your rules and see if it improves

tinkisback · 02/08/2009 10:29

hi

what r other people doing in the summer hols?!

think we will stay in the house away from germs this week. both dds have runny noses 2!! dh really rough still and i still feel knackered

Kayzr · 02/08/2009 11:24

Argh!!! Why is DH such a PITA??? He has had this weekend off work. Yesterday he promised to do some diy around the house, not done. Today we were meant to be going out but I decided that I am fed up of making all the decisions here so left it up to him. Here we are sat at home. I mean how fun is this!!!

bumpsnowjustplump · 02/08/2009 14:35

Kayz why do men always do that? DP gets a nose bleed if we travel more than 10 miles from the house ..

Tink we have a weeks holiday booked but not telling you all where it is because you will all laugh at me...... he he he. Try not worry about germs after all you could just as easy pick them up at supermarket or dh could pick them up and bring them home from work....

Sorky hope you are feeling better today...

tinkisback · 02/08/2009 16:06

went out to sainsburys with dd1 bought icecream and cones for later.

dh still very poorly he has nasty chesty cough and feels rough
was thinking of going to indoor play areas may leave for this week with all kids etc

have been browsing boden website (so pricey) and debenhams ( has lovely stuff) usually og for next cant decide!!
where do other people get clothes from?

GYo · 02/08/2009 16:58

Clothes for you Tink? H&M is good. I havent bought stuff for myself for AGES though so need to re-familarise myself!

LBOT - DS is gorgeous and I love the name. Congratulations again, reading your story made me all teary... makes me want to crack on with #2!

Talking of which, had this weird phantom pregnancy feeling last night after feeding DD - felt like baby movements, was so real that I nearly had to a pregnancy test this morning. there is no way I can be preg but still....

Sorky- hope you are feeling better today about DH's op. Must feel weird - hope you are ok.

Gruff- did you have a better night with the Gruff Cub?

DD is still feeding twice between 7pm and 7am. I am now doing a dream feed at 10.30 and then she usually wakes at 2.30. I am really hoping she will drop the 2.30 feed soon- I've been trying to feed her less and less at this time to see if she really needs the food or not...

Does being in her own room make a difference do you think?

Hi everyone else

sorky · 02/08/2009 17:16

God he's dying! no...no wait it just feels that way
you know man flu? Well vasectomy suffering is waaaaaay worse.....apparently

I gave him the whole "I have birthed 4 children" speech
out of sheer frustration today.
I know it hurts (though actually he says it's ok) but FFS I was washing the bloody towels 2hours after having ds2!!!

Thanks for all your kind words, it is the best decision we know that but we did have some hesitation sitting outside the building and nearly did a runner to plan no5 hehe
Anyway what's done is done, I'll be okay.

Star I bought that whoozit thingy it looked just what she's into atm ta muchly

We are at CP twice this and camping in Northumberland twice too Tink, simply because Dd2 is too young to go abroad. Next year well prolly do CP and a villa somewhere warm, maybe Crete or similar.

Hope you enjoyed your evening SeladDlad you got a bit of sleep Gruff, sack the routine temporarily he'll slot back into it when you're all ready I'm sure
Moosy thank you x.
SPD is a f*cker isn't it? A chiropractor really helped me.
Kayz I tried to make Dh make decisions with a similar outcome, now I make them and we actually do stuff!

Tink I buy a mix of Next, Monsoon, Zara and have just recently bought Boden. Though I'm also partial to a charity shop rummage too.

sorky · 02/08/2009 17:20

Jesus I need to preview when on my phone
Sorry try to make sense of it if you can, one sentence should end 'nice night Ses' and then start 'glad you had a good night Gruff'

Tink that's where I buy kids clothes, do you mean mine n Dh's?

Hello GYo

tinkisback · 02/08/2009 17:59

sorry meant clothes for dd1 who is nearly 4

tinkisback · 02/08/2009 18:02

i quite like stuff @ debenhams tiger lilly, baker etc look really sweet and prices seem to have dropped.
usually go for next for all of dd1s clothes feel like a change!!

GYo · 02/08/2009 18:23

Hi

Sorky- had we better fax your DH some brownies or is that being too kind?

Tink- H&M kids are really goodtoo and slightly less samey that some of the next stuff. Worth a look.

Feeling sad here- just waved sister and family off at airport- they are going to live abroad for a few years. Its odd because I didnt see them that much but I feel quite upset. It is a good excuse for a holiday though

essenceofSES · 02/08/2009 19:07

Aww, GYo - that must have been tough seeing your sister off. Sending you a huge blatant hug.

I've been over at mum's this afternoon as she had been looking after the top tier of our wedding cake. We unpacked it and it has kept well and the icing isn't too hard. It is slightly off colour though so we are going to put some new icing over the top, cover the join with a line of blue icing and write his name across it. Do you think that will be ok?

Also mum had found letters that both my grandmothers and my aunt had written to her when she had my older brother in 1969. It was quite moving as neither of my grandmothers are still alive and seeing their writing and turn of phrase kind of brought them back to life.

Meet ups - v v exciting that DS and I hope to go and visit my friends in York for a couple of days in Sept. Would any of you northeners be around for a meet up on either Fri 18th or Sat 19th Sept?
Also is anyone still up for a Reigate meet up? Or shall we try and organise a London or Reading one or both?!
