Congratulations everyone. i'm still hangin in here too 2 days over! Head is now 2/5 engaged. I'm so fed up with b hicks that stop all of a sudden. I couldn't bring myself to have a sweep so i'll be induced on Sun 29. I hope it might happen before that.
Good luck everyone. I can't wait to give up raspberry leaf tea!

SmallScrewCap · 22/08/2009 18:48

hey good luck kitkatqueen - hopefully you're getting started by now...

Chrysanthamum I know what you mean about raspberry leaf tea

It's not too bad with a dollop of honey in it though.

YanknCock · 22/08/2009 18:52

FFS!!!! Was POSITIVE my waters went outside the library today, where I'd waddled to get some reading material for the inevitable wait. Seriously felt a big gush of something, so went home to check, but the always pads are so absorbant I couldn't really tell....

Called labour ward who of course said to come in. So off we went, BP was a bit mental to start with 150/96 or something stupid, but machine kept screwing up so they got a different cuff, and it was down to 120/84 by the time it was all done.

On exam, she couldn't see any amniotic fluid, just gobs of discharge (I am the queen of that) and more of the mucus plug. She did say I might have sprung a leak somewhere and they just couldn't see any at the moment.

So we tried going to Borders to pass some time rather than sitting at home, but the twingey pain is so bad now I can barely walk. Think it must be SPD related, but since I saw the osteopath it hadn't been giving me much trouble up to yesterday/today! Ended up slowly staggering down the stairs, holding on to DH's shoulders for dear life, him carrying my handbag.

And now.....I think I am having contractions, but they aren't bad enough that I can't talk. They are coming every 5-7 minutes lasting around 35-50 seconds. Earlier today she said my cervix was still closed, so I am not going anywhere until it gets really bad.

SmallScrewCap · 22/08/2009 19:02

Ooh Yank that sounds exciting...

Longtalljosie · 22/08/2009 19:12

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that I'm finally off the fresh pineapple... DD1 born at 0250 on Friday, weighing 8lb 11oz.

Would type more but am having to learn to do this one-handed!

SmallScrewCap · 22/08/2009 19:39

Congratulations Longtalljosie!

duchesse · 23/08/2009 04:59

Waters gone! Hoping this is it... This is how the last three started.

YanknCock · 23/08/2009 06:50

been awake most of night....

timed contractions between 2 and 3 and they were a minute long and 2.5-6 min apart (got 15 in an hour). made DH take shower and got one myself, but still didn't call labour ward... ate peanut butter sandwich instead

i fell asleep after that, but waking up loads and at 4:30 had some blood tinged mucus

now they are bad and can't go back to sleep

think my pb sandwich might come back up

duchesse · 23/08/2009 06:51

Gosh, Yank, the race is on between the two of us! Sounds like the real deal for you. Hope they become more regular soon. I'm not really in labour yet, but last child only took 4.5 hours once labour started.

YanknCock · 23/08/2009 07:01

ok waters DEF gone now, was on toilet sounded like I was weeing but I wasn't and I couldn't stop it

I'm still here, loads of bh but no pain, it sucks.

I hope you both have babies today, sending happy birthing vibes.

babies babies everywhere

Chrysanthamum · 23/08/2009 10:06

Good Luck YnC and Duchesse. Sounds like the real thing now.
I'm off for a raspleaf tea will try it with honey-thanks for the tip Smallscrcap.

Does pineapple have to be fresh? If so does it give you the runs in labour? Don't fancy that!
We've been tucking into the Asda 2 pack Indian meals but jalfrezi is the hottest i've sampled.
Should I go for a madras or a vindaloo tonight?

If one more person tells me I look like i'm ready to pop any minute now I will deck them!

Confuzzeled · 23/08/2009 10:19

I know how you feel Chrys, I've just been round to my local shop and the guy there said "Have you not had that baby yet?"

I felt like saying "Well obviously bloody not." But I know he's just being chatty and nice in his own way.

I got very tearful this morning and was so upset that I'm still pregnant. I don't mind the being pregnant, it's the fear of the fact I'm having a big baby and by the time he arrives, he'll be huge. I only tore a tiny bit with dd after being in the pool for 2 hours but she was 8.1lb and this one is bigger. I worry that I won't get a water birth and end up in too much pain.

I had a curry from the mosque kitchen last night which is usually really good and hot. But maybe because the festival is on, it was runny and mild, not nice at all. Didn't do anything anyway.

becksydee · 23/08/2009 10:53

lots of good luck to yank, duchesse and kitkatqueen! looking forward to seeing your birth announcements really soon

btw, i've posted on the childbirth board re: trying to make my mind up about being induced on wednesday if anyone has any pearls of wisdom to share!

YanknCock · 23/08/2009 11:16

feck.

I am back at home.

Apparently contractions every 5 minutes for a million hours means nothing. I'm not dilated at all! They also couldn't tell if my waters had broken or I just have the most watery copious discharge ever.

Going to start a labour thread as suggested so I can bitch and everyone can tell me to stay home, as I clearly have no idea when is the right time to go to the hospital.

Contractions still going every 5-8 minutes!

I don't like this, I'm not doing it again.

SmallScrewCap · 23/08/2009 11:35

ooh good luck duchesse

And Yank what a palaver for you, this was me last week, I hope it becomes the real thing for you really soon (or you get some relief and rest at least).

duchesse · 23/08/2009 11:36

Ooh hang in there Yank. Labours aren't necessarily linear. These contractions might actually be doing a lot behind the scenes. Still nothing happening here.

Confuzzeled · 23/08/2009 11:53

Yank, with my dd (my first) I went from 2 to 9cm dialated within 2 hours. It can happen quickly even with your first.

HeinzSight · 23/08/2009 12:34

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TEXT RECEIVED THIS MORNING FROM KKQ

Baby Isaac Fenwick born at 4:28am on 23.08.09 weighing 8lb 8oz. All doing fine, birth fabulous

cairns · 23/08/2009 13:06

Congrats KKQ
Good luck Yankn and Duchesse you will be seeing your little ones very soon. Yank I had quite a longish early labour with DS1, was just your body getting ready for the real thing (although at the time it felt v v real*, things can happen very quickly though once you really get going though just as Duchesse said. Try to rest asmuch as you can with contrx every few mins is hard.

Beckysdee I was induced in the end and it was far better than I thought and actually a better birth experience than DS1. I think because it was quicker, although I didn;t need the drip or anything, just the Prostin pessaries to get me started, which I think helps

Confuzzled I really feel for you as that was how I felt with this little (big one). All I kept thinking was the more overdue I get, the bigger and fatter this baby is going to get .. which it did. But to be abolutely honest it was a far easier birth than DS1 and bigger doesn;t necessarily mean more difficult. I also didn;t tear as much either.. so try not to worry. Easier said though.

Chrysanthamum · 23/08/2009 13:18

Congratulations KKQ and how frustrating for you yank. Does sound like you're nearly there tho!
I'm now 3 days late and trying v hard not to be snappy with dh and 2 sons.

Confuzzeled I wouldn't worry too much about size. My 2nd baby was 8ib 11oz and labour was much easier than with my first 7ib 1oz baby. Consultant said baby 2 would weigh about 7ib as well - yeah right! They say this one feels v average too and I'm not carrying a lot of fluid but I just dont listen anymore as they told me to expect this baby early too.

In any case I feel huge but i think labour is more about the size of the baby's head than its weight.
I hate all my clothes now and I really hate waking up drooling. I was hoping not to be doing the school run next week so I can avoid all the well wishers but no changes yet!
I really should try and take a more zen like approach to all this but its trying.

SmallScrewCap · 23/08/2009 16:18

Congratulations KKQ!
