Anyone got any ideas about when we should graduate to the Post-Natal thread? Do we wait till every last baby is here or would the people having later babies get sick and tired of hearing all the baby talk from the earlier one's of us in the group? Or shall we all post on both??

So many questions I know, I don't knwo why I have suddenly thought of this...I think it's because I feel a bit guilty for going on about how many days I've got left and I really feel for epople who have still got weeks to go. I just wish I could fall into some kind of coma and make the next few days pass me by!

Not much to report other than I'm feeling really down again today, just hormones I'm sure but very tearful, I'm, still ploughing through the SATC boxset and keep crying at the stories.

baby is still wriggling alot and I think she turned again last night and is now brecch again, she's so naughty!

lydia how are u today?

ilikeyoursleeves · 19/06/2009 15:44

Woooooo hooooo many congratulations to Mr & Mrs Christiana! Glad it all went well and now this is feeling so real that we have got our first baby!

Well that's me on mat leave now, last day at work was yesterday Ive only been back for 7.5 months after having DS so I tried to sneak out quietly cos I feel quite bad about going off again. I have my leaving do next Friday though so will have to go through feeling embarrassed again!

Engagement how do you know when baby has done this? I feel like my belly has dropped quite a bit and I can really feel it weighing down on my pelvis now, does that mean labour might be sooner rather than later? I don't think DS engaged at all until I was actually in labour!

Lastbox I'm the 24th too and it feels both ages away but so close too! You are mad to be painting skirting boards?!!! Mind you I have an idea in my head of all the things I want to do in the house to nest so I will prob be down on me knees too. BTW re moses baskets, I got one for £10 on ebay (picked it up near me so no delivery), it's fab and I've just washed the covers today. You should check out ebay for bargains.

Jlo good luck for tomorrow!

sooze I just got a new moses mattress from amazon, came within 2 days of ordering!

feeling emotional I got 2 books delivered today for DS to talk to him about the baby coming, one called 'Waiting for Baby' and the other 'My new Baby'. I started crying when I looked through them! I just feel so emotional when I think I'll have 2 babies soon (well 1 baby and 1 toddler) and I think part of my had a bubble for DS cos I still think he's my baby and seems too young to be a big bro yet!

HospitalBag right, I am now off to pack it, honestly!

lastboxoftampons · 19/06/2009 16:14

Hi Ilikeyoursleeves Yes, I know we're the same day! It's coming soon! I know exactly what you mean about being emotional - I start to tear up about everything! I was reading an article in the NCT magazine yesterday and nearly broke down on the train. The worst and most was when the Will Smith song "Just the Two of Us" (yes the one that was really badly covered by Dr Evil and Mini Me in Austin Powers! ) came on my ipod the other day - I always lose it when he talks about all the things he'll teach his son. Thanks for the mb tip - we're actually borrowing one from our friends, I just haven't managed to get over to theirs to pick it up yet.

Congrats on your mat leave! It must be such a releif! I've got two full weeks and then two half weeks left - wonder why I thought it'd be good to try to last until the bitter end

Gillyan don't know what to say about the post-natal thread, except I'm due late July and I don't mind hearing about the "already here" little ones!

lydiathetattooedlady · 19/06/2009 16:19

oh my god i cant believe another baby will be here tomorrow good luck jlo
just had a wasted trip to kiddicare for a buggyboard. turns out there isnt a single make that will fit ours when its a pram! we're now looking at the bibi strolli thing but its so expensive!
i was doing ok this morning then for past 2 hours have been having 'contractions' with the worst pressure (TMI) in my bum like i need the loo!
anyway too scared to do a name thread on baby names but we now have some choices on our list. the 3 top faves are Elwood (nn, eli or woody) Myles, os shamus (spelt like the irish form of james for my brother)
chellebelle i think you should use the name jessica its lovely, and like you say they're moving away!
bonzo i think she only did the exam as she thpought i was in labour!

BonzoDoodah · 19/06/2009 16:26

Good Luck JLo ... hope all goes well.

Hunny let us know if it's the real thing!

Ilikeyoursleeves - awww at the baby books - I've just ordered two off Amazon for my DD (22months) to start explaining. She made me draw us all this morning (common theme - DRAW GRANNY... DRW MUMMY etc) so I drew mummy with a big bump and drew the baby inside ... and she started waving at it and kissed the picture .... sob! (Soft git here cries at anything - nearly in tears over the sodding BT ad last night FFS).

lydiathetattooedlady · 19/06/2009 18:47

eeek, ive just been to the toilet and sorry for TMI i had to pull out from my front bottom the bigggest piece of jelly like stuff, think it be my plug!

chellebelle · 19/06/2009 18:51

uuummm.... yep, can't think of a more delicate and accurate description of a plug than that LydiaTTL! I'm sure they say though that your boyd can make a new one if you aren't ready to go into labour and/or it could be anywhere up to 2 weeks after you lose your plug that you go into labour. It can however be a definite sign that things are on the way!

chellebelle · 19/06/2009 18:52

or your body even (rather than boyd) - I really must learn to preview before I post!

Mij · 19/06/2009 18:56

Huge congratulations to Family Cristiana - and yes, names sometimes take a while to settle on a baby. No rush, you've got 42 (? - 45?) days to register her . We spent a day calling DD each of the names on our shortlist and once you've said something outloud a few times that seems to help you make your mind up!

And good luck JLo2 for tomorrow.

Blimey, it's all kicking off here isn't it!

Activity I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an arse/head mix up too but considering where I'm currently being kicked (and it's really got to be kicking, unless this child is going to have one hell of a right hook) - under my ribs on the right - I think this one is probably head down. The midwife didn't say she thought it was breach after all, just that she really couldn't tell. Roll on Monday and the scan...

I'm not sure whether or not to get a buggy board. DD will walk quite a distance now, and we hardly used the pram for her - did almost all slinging, certainly in the first 4-6 months and a lot after that too - so could just be a bit of a waste. Having said that, she's been such a whiney, droopy PITA the last few days I might need to be sticking her in the damn pram just to keep my sanity .

dannyg · 19/06/2009 19:34

Evening all, things seem to be getting going now very exciting. Had midwife today came out v confused she's still not sure if bubs is breech was examened by trainee midwife first who didnt know what way but was sure baby was breech due to where the heartbeat was found, but then midwife says or baby could be engaged deep down. Anyway she has faxed a scan request to the hosp to determin position. Braxton hicks been quite intense today too. Feel really greedy this week have so far eaten 24 kitkats, 2 blocks of cheese, 18 ice lollys, and lots of buiscuits not to mention breakfasts lunches and dinners..............cant stop stuffing

Quiltedrose · 19/06/2009 20:38

Hi all, I've got a birth announcement!

Beatrice Elizabeth born 6.17am on Wednesday 17th June, at 37 weeks weight 6lbs.

My waters started trickling about 10pm but I honestly thought I'd wet myself! I then started getting contractions just after midnight so rang the hospital who asked me to come in to get checked over. We were just getting in the car when the rest of my waters broke in a massive gush

At hosp I was only 3 cm so I asked if I could go home for a bit, thinking I'd have a while. We got home and I went back to bed! By 5.30am the contractions were painful so we went back to hospital where I got up on the bed and started begging for gas and air only to be told I had to 'wait until I was examined' The MW then said I was 8cm at which point I said I could feel the baby coming out and she admitted I might transition quickly as it is my 2nd baby, so she ignored me and started strapping on a monitor, but I then started to need to push and Beatrice was born 22 minutes after we'd got to hospital

She is absolutely adorable and I love her to bits - we've been in hospital until today as she got a touch of jaundice and they wanted to keep an eye on her. So I guess if I'd been around at the time to post that would have made Bea the first July arrival

Great labour experience this time around, felt totally in control as the baby came out - only had time for gas and air (I got it in the end!) but have NO stitches, hurray!

She had a 10 minute feed straight away and has taken to the breast really well - really sore though as last night she fed every hour and a half! Thank goodness for Lansinoh!

Delighted to hear Christiana's news, look forward to seeing you all in postnatal! Better dash for now as trying to keep my 3 year old out of the moses basket with the baby

QueenFee · 19/06/2009 20:48

christiana&co many congrats on the safe arrival off your little girl
jlo good luck - how exciting (hope you feel better from the OC quickly)

I'm the opposite with food, I am eating because I am hungry and get heartburn if I don't but it all tastes like cardboard so I have no appetite very strange.

I have a double buggy for when bubs arrives but now I am wondering if I should get the buggy board attachement as DD has been hitching a lot of rides recently and DS is very protective of his pram so even if he isn't in it gets upset when she (always!) climbs in. TBH I think she is big enough now to walk but I hate the hard work of getting her to when she is tired.

I am really waddling like a penguin now and would be more than happy to go through labour right now to get this baby out as I am finding normal everyday things really dificult. I miss being able to get down on the floor and play properly with DCs Oh well less than 3 weeks yesterday for me

Misspaella · 19/06/2009 22:17

OMG
Congrats to Christiana and Quiltedrose
Is this July thread on a roll!!??

Hope everyone is well.

I have DC's bday party tomorrow and then am quite happy to get on with birth myself. Heartburn, insomnia and still being sick is finally taking it's toll on me.

I am also turning into a raging superbitch towards DH lately. The hormones are too much. That is my excuse anyway.

dannyg · 19/06/2009 23:53

Wow Congratulations Quiltedrose on the birth of baby Beatrice Elizabeth x x

dannyg · 20/06/2009 00:27

Ps Good Luck JLo for tomo oops Today x x

soozze · 20/06/2009 00:31

Congratulations quiltedrose, great birth story !

New moses mattress is due Monday, so will lay off the curries and pineapple until then I didn?t even think of washing the car seat covers though, another thing to do this weekend !

We have a lovely book called ?There?s a house inside my mummy? and also ?billy and the baby? from the library. I was surprised my ds liked them so much, he asks for them most nights now. I?m also feeling a bit sad ilike as my ds still seems so little too.

I?m another one that had a cry last night and then was soooo angry with dp today. I wonder if it means things are imminent?

Dannyg on first read I thought that was your snack list for 1 day ! I have a fridge full of deserts and a box of mini muffins to get through, yummm.

Good luck for today Jlo, hope it happens quickly for you

It's all kicking off on this thread isn't it

I met up with my friend yesterday and she gave me 6, yes 6, pampers nappy boxes of baby clothes ranging from newborn-6-9mths so more baby washing to do and i need to wash car seat covers too (didn't think of that one so thanks for the reminder)

I might get on with some of that washing now seeing as ds slept at my mums last night and i'm up strangely early when i don't even need to be . I've been up pretty much every hour for a wee in the night, i'm getting really sick of going to the toilet now.

I think i'm going to get my hair cut and maybe coloured today

xxhunnyxx · 20/06/2009 09:20

Wow I wasnt gone for long and already so much news to catch up on!
Huge congrats to you quiltedrose! You were due on the same day as me so it all seems very real now. Get some pics on here soon x

Good luck for today jlo2

Well as you can probably guess I'm back from the hospital and I'm still pregnant. They examined me but as there wasnt actually anything coming out of me at that very moment they couldn't confirm whether it was waters or not. It was trickleing most of yesterday and I was also getting twingey pains very low down like he was pushing his head on my cervix so I'm sure it was waters and not just wee, my pelvic floor really isn't that weak! lol
So anyway, they said baby's head is engaged and very low and he's in a good position so I don't think it's gonna be too long. Gonna go for a walk this weekend and maybe get a curry tonight. I know he's not due for another 2&1/2 weeks but all this has just made me wanna get him out now .

sleeves I thought baby's head was engaged cos I felt quite sore and bruised down below, felt like I'd been on a long bike ride and then somebody had kicked me between the legs a couple of times...ouch! This has now settled down but now I sometimes get twinges when he pushes his head on my cervix and also my bump is tilted, there's a massive bum sticking out about half way up and then it's virtually flat at the bottom.
Also started needing to poo about 3 times a day (sorry TMI) lol.

Right I'm off to get some jobs done before this LO decides to join us.

krumbockmummy · 20/06/2009 12:59
