In honour of Christiana CS tomorrow thought I'd start a new thread as the other one getting unwieldly.
Best of luck Christiana

Patchybob · 21/06/2009 18:28

Great to hear from you Christina, you sound fantastic and the whole experience sounds really positive. I really hope you enjoy your carbonara!!! I can't wait for pate!!! Hope the breastfeeding sorts itself out. i have bought some nipple shields this time so that I can use them on and off until my milk comes in. i know some people don't approve of them but I thought it will stop me being in agony from being chewed to pieces until the milk is flowing. I could be wrong though.

Hope you have a good night!

Quiltedrose · 21/06/2009 20:19

Christiana hope you're not feeling too sore - sounds like you're getting on really well! I am finding Lansinoh cream to be my saviour now my nipple skin has started sloughing off provided I don't let my nipples dry out it's fine, and Bea's latch is improving on a daily basis especially now my milk is in - I keep looking at her thinking wake up wake up need you to do some sucking my boobs hurt!!

(Is this the sort of thing you don't want to know until AFTER your baby arrives?)

Come on you girls about time you started popping those babies out!

Thanks for all your good wishes. It's honestly going really well at the moment, it's just sleep feed sleep feed, not feeling too exhausted, the challenge is actually managing my 3 year old's behaviour. I know it's early days, we've only been home since Fri pm but we are finding it really hard to help her get used to the idea - we've gone for the involve her as much as possible approach and she's now a key member of the 'nappy change team' with specific responsibilities for cotton wool balls She is really lovely with Beatrice but it's just her general behaviour.

We can't get her to stay in bed, she's started peeing on the floor and kicking us if we try and get her dressed, refusing to eat and being generally difficult. Any ideas, multiple mums? Does it get better?

Gillyan I think given what you've been through this time you're entitled to be a bit pessimistic about it! I think you've done so well to get this far, didn't think you would! But I am sure it will now all be OK for you and it won't be long in any case.

Jlo2 thinking of you, looking forward to hearing your news!!

everyone else sending labour vibes for those of you who think you're ready and stay put vibes for the end of July girls

Quiltedrose · 21/06/2009 20:32

Also wanted to say I have started a postnatal thread in the PN section - 'Sore Ladybits and Melons for Tits' felt quite an appropriate thread title! - 'pop' in when you're ready!!

xxhunnyxx · 21/06/2009 20:35

Gillyan yeah I've decided he can get stuffed now, this really has been the last straw and I don't see how I can ever forgive him for it. Even if he comes back grovelling I defo don't want him at the birth, he's just proven that he doesnt give a shit about me n I want people there who love me. So think gonna have my mum and maybe my best friend.

Been to the Trafford Centre today for some last bits and a long walk, seems to have done the trick too cos lost some more of my plug .

bras I tried on like a million today but I didn't like any of them, bottle feeding is suddenly looking much more appealing! They're all just so big and it's gonna make it really difficult to find something to wear over them cos they come some high up. Prob wouldn't be such a prob in the winter but as it's summer I'd like to be able to wear little vest tops etc. Plus a lot of them make my boobs look saggy . I want my little 34B boobs back when all I had to worry about was making them look bigger, that was so much easier lol.
I'll keep looking around tho, maybe I just didn't have much luck today cos I was pissed off to begin with.

Has anyone else developed a strong disliking to public toilets through this pregnancy? It's just something I've noticed in the last couple of weeks, I find myself trying to avoid them and when I have to use them I HATE it. I find myself hovering over the toilet seat and avoiding touching anything and then when I have to touch something I'm thinking of all the germs on it. I've never been so anal in all my life and I'm not like this with anything else, just public toilets. I'm thinking it's maybe part of the whole nesting instincts etc?

betsyboo · 21/06/2009 20:56

Hello,

I haven't posted for a while as moved house/no internet etc.

I'm not on the list anymore for some reason wonder if someone could re-insert me?

I'm due July 9th, having a boy.

Off to catch up with the rest of the thread, seems I've missed quite alot!

Belgrano · 21/06/2009 21:06

Wow Christiana, you make me want to have my LO in arms! Awesome sounding birth, congratulations again.
Hope you get some sleep tonight...personally I'll be dreaming about blue cheese.

Phoenix · 21/06/2009 21:11

Hi Betsyboo, i shortened the list a few weeks back because there were alot of people on there that hadn't posted for months. I've put you back on it (is this your 1st baby?) and will add it to the thread when we get another baby

Christiana and Quilted glad all is going well with your baby girls. Quilted i don't need to hear about 3yr olds behaviour

Hunny - I think you're better off without him, if you don't mind me saying. Hope your little man is on his way soon

Jlo hope all is well with you

Hope we get more babies soon (but not mine til at least next week after the Take That concert )

QueenFee · 21/06/2009 21:38

quilted you have just had DH and I in stiches with your postnatal thread title - genius

Re 3 year olds behaviour. It will probably settle down. My DD was absolutely fien for the first couple of weeks then wham her behaviour deteriated fast. Took a little while but it did go babck to normal. They are just testing the situation and trying to find out if they are still no1 IYSWIM? I'm sure they will be fine in a couple of days when they realise that you still want them ((hugss)) till then though as that kind of behaviour is hard work especially when you are tired anyway. My DD was younger though she was only 2 so will wait to see my DCs reaction this time round.

QueenFee · 21/06/2009 21:39

that should be fine.... not fien

BonzoDoodah · 21/06/2009 22:22

QuiltedRose congratultaions and wonderful news. I really like her name. Glad it all went so well - can I have one like that!?

Christiana have you decided on a name or are you keeping it secret?

Wonder how Lydia and JLo are doing ... exciting all these babies arriving.

Hunny - good on you - go with your mum and friend - at least you know they'll be there for you - it's what you need.

Oh and PatchyBlob ... I don't know how to tell you this but ... if you're planning on breastfeeding the pate is still out as all that vitamin A can get into the breast milk and it is still too strong for baby - sorry!

Mij · 21/06/2009 22:36

Not looking forward to my own 3yo behaviour in a few weeks . Although I guess I'm expecting it to be terrible, so maybe my pessimism will deliver a nice surprise .

Have to admit I struggled to let DP have a proper Father's Day. He got a lie-in yesterday so didn't qualify today but did manage to give him a half hour reading the paper with a cup of coffee in the park, while I discovered I can't really catch DD safely when she launches herself off a 5ft platform any more. No bones broken, anyway...

Presentation scan 9.45 tomorrow. Send head-down vibes please, everyone. Really don't want to have to deal with any consultants with attitudes.

nicky6 · 21/06/2009 22:56

i start to get nervous once they start arrriving makes me realise its real - i should be better this time around and dd only 17 months but I still dont quite beleive it .

Dh away with work one more week so legs still very much crossed.

Off to bed as v tired. Just ordered double buggy bought the O baby tandem instead of Phil and ted as it looks exactly the same apart from price tag £200 cheaper - hoorah.

Everything seems ok bi g fat uncomfortable dd being tricky at bedtime but apart from that all ok.

JetLi · 22/06/2009 03:20

Hi all. Had a lovely birthday yesterday but now up with raging heartburn following a rather nice curry and cake evening at little sis's house last night.
Glad to hear you're all doing OK at home now christiana and quilted .
Still carrying awfully high and I have absolutely no sensation of baby's head being anywhere near the exit at this point. Am starting pineapple tomorrow and doing hip circling on my birthing ball.
Another 2 weeks at work to go. Physically it's not a problem but really my hearts not in it any more. It just all feels terribly unimportant now - I've got bigger fish to fry if that makes sense?
hunny - thinking of you - give me your ex's address and I'll go and give the prick man a good hiding. It'd do me the world of good to take out my frustrations on someone sooo deserving .
I think we may finally have a little girls name (little boy was decided looong ago) - Hetty Florence - halllelujah!!!! It was looking decidedly dicey on the baby girl naming front.

Misspaella · 22/06/2009 08:15

Morning
Gillyan hope you are feeling better. I am finding this 3rd pg harder too. No more babies for me. I think 3 is my limit but I do have a sneaking feeling I will only remember the nice bits of being pg and long to do it again.

Jlo hope you are well!!!!

Quiltedrose I am sure your DD will settle soon with the new arrival. It hasn't even been a week and I am guessing everyone has to get adjusted to the new addition. How exciting though. I am jealous that you have a baby to coo over.

After this Wed I am fine to have this baby (as in nothing planned in the diary). DC's party done, Father's Day done and just have friend's bday drinks this Wed evening. I now think I may be closer to my due date or even late. It seems like forever til I pop !. Cracked nipples advice - I stuck little squares of Jalonet on them after each feed and they healed so much faster than just using the Lasinoh. I have already bought some to have handy when the time come.

Better get ready as need to do the school run.

Bye all.

Misspaella · 22/06/2009 08:15

Happy belated bday Jetli

lydiathetattooedlady · 22/06/2009 08:32

morning everyone! after waking up in the middle of saturday night thinking 'this is it', baby is still cooking in my oven! i ended up waking up with soooooo much energy yesterday morning (once i realised this wasn't it!) that by 9.30 i had cleaned the house, including polishing the hoover, for some random reason. cleaned dd stoller ready to put away, washed all baby clothes and bedding! im still losing more plug, how much is there?? it was just one blob with dd but this time its a massive blob once- twice a day! yuk!
still getting the contractions that i was having in hospital but still random ones they last for ages too, nearly 2 1/2minutes!
had a family bbq yesterday which was good apart from everyone saying wow your huge, i cant believe how big you are...yeah thanks i know that!
anyway sorenipples lansinoh was the best for me anyway when i was breastfeeding dd. have got a tube in my hospital bag!
hunny glad you have made a decision about that crap fella of yours! i know what yopu mean about the breastfeeding bras, ive been and got measured and have mine, my boobs are massive and still look saggy in maternity bras. going to wait til milk settles in and get re-measured for some good quality ones which will hopefully stop me from looking like a cow with mahoooosive udders!
siblingbehaviour im starting to panic a bit about how dd is going to behave when baby gets here. she's soooo good at the minute ansd seems very excited but wondering how long that will last!
jetli love the name its gorgeous! we still aren't decided i think my baby shall remain nameless!
anyway im classing today as my first proper day of mat leave (have been off for a while but dp has been off, then i went in to hospital!) so planning on spending most of it in my p'j's!
hope evreyone is ok!

moodylou · 22/06/2009 09:24

Morning All,

I don't come on for a couple of days and it all goes mad with babies being born and inductions happening!

Congratulations Quiltedrose. Beatrice Elizabeth is a lovely name. The title for the PN thread is great too

Sleeves I have a feeling i'm going to go over with this one and i'll have him on 4th July.

Hunny You're doing the right thing having your mum and best friend with you for the birth. I had ex there for birth of DS and I was so glad that i'd asked my mum to come as well as he was useless. You need people with you who are going to support you and it sounds like having your ex there would just make things worse.

I had quite bad period type pains all afternoon yesterday but they aren't as bad this morning. Hopefully that means it's not going to be long for me now

Morning ladies

I'm in need of some advice (also posted on preg thread).

Woke up really early this morning and been feeling out of sorts ever since, tmi alert had bad diarhoea this morning and my sugars are quite high (for those of you with GD 6.9 pre breakfast and 7.4 two hours after breakfast). Baby is moving loads so not too worried BUT -

  1. do you think I should contact the GD team/midwife for some reassurance/advice?
  1. I am supposed to be going to Exeter tonight (an hour and a half journey) to a parenting conference with friends. Do you think I should still go?

I guess I am mainly worried as I know that an upset stomach can sometimes be an indication of things kicking off!!

mickeylou · 22/06/2009 09:42

Hi everyone - love the girls' name jetli - very cute. what have you picked for a boy?

sibling reactions - i am dreading how Ds will react after having us all to himself for nearly 4 years!

my boobs are really sore at the moment and braxton hicks really kicking in - still only 35 weeks but section will be at 38 weeks + 3. seems a long way off still although i know it isnt really.

have managed to let another weekend go by without sorting out my tip of a bedroom. there is no room for moses masker at moment because there are piles of unironed clothes all over the show! i finish work on wednesday! hooray! so maybe will muster energy to sort it after then.

woollyjo · 22/06/2009 09:47

Hi all, congratulations on the babies and good luck for the CS & inductions coming up this week.

Today is my first day of leave, baby DD2 is due on Sunday but I am trying to convince myself she will be late so I don't leap on every twinge as the start of something.

A friend gave me some reflexology yesterday, hoped it would start things off but it didn't . Had enough now.

On the positives dd1 is at the CM 3 days this week so I am off to the allotment as I'm not much interested in the ironing or any other housework.

lydiathetattooedlady · 22/06/2009 10:02

beccabump how're you feeling now? id maybe ring for some advise as my sister hasd a very upset stomach before having my nephew, the dehydration started her contractions apparently. id ring for some reassurance! better to be safe than sorry!
activityapple very jealous you're going to the banksy exhibition!

dannyg · 22/06/2009 11:02

Morning all still waiting for call from hosp for presentation scan. Had a lovely day yesterday took boys swimming with Dp, loved feeling light for once but was torture when had to get out felt sooo heavy!. Been looking at the weather forecast this week 27 on fri!!! def gonna stay in too hot for me.

Names me & Dp only agree on 3 at the mo:
Maisie
Amie
Lola
found this process so much easier with DS2 had his name picked from 20 wks onwards and stuck to it.
No news on Jlo2 yet then, hope all is well.
sounds like we could have a few more baby's before the weeks out x x x

bozette · 22/06/2009 11:07

Morning all, it's fab not being at work!! DS has gone to childminder but have decoraters (sp?) in so unable to slob in pj's.

beccabump i'd call for reassurance if i were you. The fact that you're wondering if you should probably means that you should, iykwim? Also if those BMs are high for you then you're looking after your GD really well! I also had bad bowelsover the weekend and started getting anxious then DH said he did too so it was clearly my cooking!

I'm another who will be getting nipple sheilds from the off. Last time DS nearly degloved my leftnipple and without them i would have given up BF. He had no difficulty going from with to without. The jelonet tip is a good one, i only heard of using it for this after it would have been helpful. Jelonet is a sterile gauze impregnated with paraffin and basically doesn't stick and allows things to heal. Its used for dressing skin grafts and burns and the like usually.

Beccabump · 22/06/2009 11:21

Lydia and bozette thanks for the advice! I rang the GD nurse and she is happy with the measurements (I am usually 5.0-5.4 pre-breakfast and 6.0-6.5 post evening meal!) she was pleased I called and I have to ring back if my levels stay up.

She said it could well be things clearing out before the big event, or it could just be a random upset tummy! I guess there's more waiting in store!

I have to phone my mw if I still feel poorly or if I start being sick/seem dehydrated.

I think I will brave my night out as I have been looking forward to it for ages and it is the last time I will be out with my friends in the evening for some time I guess! At least there is a big maternity hospital in Exeter if I do get in trouble!!!!

  • on another note - do you think it would be polite to take my towel and maternity sheet to sit on as I am travelling in someone elses car?? Don't want to risk ruining their seats if my waters were to go, but also don't want to look like a total weirdo!!!!!

sore nipple I suffered for a few days after DD was born and found that smearing a little breast milk all over and air drying them worked a treat! Breast milk also good for newborn sticky eyes and conjunctivitis!! Aren't we amazing!!!
