Hello all Jessica (undecided middle name) Harris was born this morning 7.47am, weighing 8lb 15oz. Didn't get homebirth due to a distinct lack of community midwives. Was very, very quick though and managed to get discharged home in just under 4 hours and will now be treated as a homebirth i.e. doctor is coming to do checks this afternoon etc etc. Will do full story later. Hope there's not too many others still waiting for those that are x x x

Congratulations to all new mummies and good luck to those still waiting. I'm sure that you will meet your precious babies soon

ActivityApple Where's the post natal thread? I can't see it under post natal threads, looking for July 09 but can't see one. It's probably right under my nose but it's very frustrating!!

rubyriley · 29/07/2009 21:31

Durr & oops..... I've found it! Starting to feel REALLY thick! Had looked under last day messages but now looked under all postnatal clubs and it's there!

Feels like ages since James was born and look at him every day thinking how perfect he is and how lucky we are. I need to look back over this thread to donate to SANDS. Woollyjo is never far from my thoughts.

JetLi · 30/07/2009 09:12

Congratulations chellebelle

chellebelle · 31/07/2009 11:35

Thank you The older kids are away at the in laws til Saturday lunchtime so am enjoying the peace and quiet at the moment. Getting very quiet on this thread now. There can't be too many left now? Will get around to doing birth story soon but as madam has just started whinging I probably ought to wait and do it later.

Shaking pom poms for all those still waiting

Gillyan · 01/08/2009 13:49

Hello all, hope you are all okay. I bet some of you are getting fed up now.

Hope it won't be too long for you xx

moodylou · 01/08/2009 14:42

Hi All,

Not had much time to post since Sam was born but just wanted to pop on and say congratulations to everyone who has had their babies in the last couple of weeks.

My labour lasted 10.5 hours and would have been a lot quicker if Sam hadn't got stuck on the way out. I got to the pushing stage using a TENS machine and a bit of gas and air but after an hour of pushing he was still nowhere near ready to come out and i was exhausted.

The midwife recommended an epidural as she was concerned he wasn't going to come out on his own and i jumped at the chance agreed.

I then spent another hour pushing before he finally made his way into the world (just as they were starting to talk about using forceps). Had skin to skin and first feed while waiting for placenta to come out. It took over an hour to come out and when it did i had a PPH and lost 1.2 litres of blood which meant i had to have a blood transfusion as my iron levels dropped and i went into shock

We only had to stay in hospital for one night though

Am sending lots of labour vibes to all you who are still waiting...fingers crossed it won't be long now.

Belgrano · 01/08/2009 17:11

Hi
My baby boy arrived at 1.28 pm on Monday 27th July, 7 days late and in a terrible hurry. Labour was about an hour and a half and he was born 45 mins after we got to hospital and nearly had DD in the room with us (we got shot of her and he popped out pretty much!). Midwives amazing and no stitiches, 8 lbs 9.5 oz though so not small. Been in hosp for ages with high red blood cells level (him not me) meaning that he had to be topped up with formula all the time as dehydration can be really dangerous and then he got jaundice so was under the UV incubator for days and was meanwhile also having 12 hourly antibiotics through a canula in his hand for the Strep B which I didn't get my antibiotics in time for (got them in 15 mins before birth, as opposed to the recommended 4 hours +).
I was really worried about formula messing with the breastfeeding so spent half my time on the breast pump stimulating supply in hosp and am glad to say he's now exclusively BF and gaining weight, phew.
So alll a bit traumatic, his heels are like pincushions from 4 hourly blood tests, and he was a sad little thing for the first few days but now perking up and we are home. I havne't had any sleep for what seems like forever, either due to hosp waking me to take him for tests or him feeding or needing to express at all hours of day and night, and am SO TIRED.
But he's completely gorgeous and so worth it. Now just need to decide on a name! It's between Ollie, Arthur and Sam...I'll keep you posted!

Patchybob · 01/08/2009 17:13

Congrqatulations to all of you who have popped. I haven't had a chance to come on much recenlty as Max is constantly feeding and it is so busy having the big kids around at the moment 24/7. Hope you are all ok and big hugs to those who are still waiting. Not long now xxx

JetLi · 01/08/2009 18:42

Hi all!

Congrats to all the new mummies! Am v jeolous as still waiting - now 6 days overdue and no signs of anything happening

Trying to console myself that days are limited now and it should be here, one way or another, in a maximum of a week's time.

Don't if anyone else who is still posting is waiting or not?

Misspaella · 02/08/2009 12:38

Congrats to all the new mommies! Not many of you ladies left to give birth so wishing you the best when the times comes.

Lillabet · 02/08/2009 15:41

Samuel Joseph was born at 11:30pm on Monday 27th July weighing 8lb 30z.
He was 11 days late - induced the day before using prostin, got good strong contractions until 3:30am Monday when they stopped. Synotocin administered at 5pm and waters broken by consultant after an initial attempt at breaking my waters (which wasn't hugely succesful as Sam's head was fully engaged and the SHO could get the membrane to break and I was already on the gas and air).
Gas and air and TENs for four hours, then meptid which took longer than expected to kick in!
Ended up with a ventouse delivery and an episiotomy which was not what I wanted, but I didn't end up in theatre or with forceps (both discussed!).
Stitches sore, but very happy healthy young man and mum at home 48hrs after delivery.
BFing going ok. I will probably disappear a little bit until I get a bit more sorted (and to be honest, really enjoying just spending quality time with my new son ).
Will catch up with you all on the post natal thread.

Lillabet · 02/08/2009 15:54

I should have asked - where is the post natal thread? I can't find it - please could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Phoenix · 02/08/2009 17:16

Post-natal Thread

Congratulations Lillabet

JetLi · 02/08/2009 20:18

Well done Lillabet - welcome baby Samuel Joseph. My episiotomy healed in just a few days and I added just 1 capful of Savlon to every bath for the first week - doesn't sting at all because it's so diluted - it just helps to stave off any infections.

Gillyan · 02/08/2009 21:17

Well done lillabet
