Good luck to all of you in the midst of labour or have CS this week!
xx

QueenFee · 12/07/2009 20:27

Look on the bright side JetLi at least you have a lovely roast pork dinner to look forward to postnatally
Things are going well here been out and about and even managed a evening out with the girls last night (albeit with Alfie in tow ) I will admit to going home by 10 30 though.
Alfie is a great BFeeder and I can't wait to have him weighed he looks so much bigger than when he was born.
No news from scully recently? Lets hope its all happening for her

Gillyan · 12/07/2009 21:08

jetli what a shame about your labour, and the roast pork, Yum! Hope it all starts again, I'm sure it will if you've had a show and all those contractions, good luck! xx

Belgrano · 12/07/2009 21:26

Jetli how exciting/frustrating for you! I really hope it pulls itself together for you very soon and we hear about baby Jetli soon.

I woke up with a sore throat today! Nooooooo - just my luck to get swine flu or a big old cold right on my due date. Now glugging back revolting tea made with ginger, garlic, lemon and honey to try and knock it on the head. I really really don't want to be ill right now its so annoying. Anyone gone through labour with a cold or sore throat and got any tips/advice for me?

bozette · 13/07/2009 05:49

Congratulations Phoenix. Not on FB but look forward to hearing details here.

Well its d-day for me, hence being up so early having my light breakfast (couldn't sleep) so the earliest kick off will be would be 1130. Goodluck Patchybob today as well, going through the same somewhere too!!

Fingers crossed for everyone else xx

julyjuly · 13/07/2009 06:42

Hi, this is the first time i've left a message. I'm due on the 22 July and been getting contractions/braxton wotevers 10 min apart since last tuesday! Was only 1.5 cm on sat - saw midwife and got some codine so I can sleep!!

jelti I totally feel for you - it's so frustrating!

Patchybob · 13/07/2009 06:45

bozette good luck, will be thinking of you xx

Gillyan · 13/07/2009 09:16

Good luck for sections today!

martinemorris · 13/07/2009 09:55

moodylou · 13/07/2009 11:27

Congratulations Phoenix - hope you are both doing well.

Good luck for the c sections today, Bozette and Patchybob. Hope it all goes okay.

Welcome to julyjuly and martinemorris

I don't think it's going to be long at all before your baby makes an appearance JetLi. It sounds like it could be any day now

I sympathise with all you other overdue ladies - i'm now 40+12 and starting to wonder if there is a baby in there after all! I've done nearly everything possible to get him to make an appearance but he seems very stubborn and refuses to listen when i tell him it's time to come out now

BonzoDoodah · 13/07/2009 12:53

Hey all and welcome new people.
My maternity leave starts today so I'm having a relaxing day after a lie-in.
I think I overdid it yesterday running round after DD and tidying up etc and the tops of my legs were in agony when I walked - inside where they join my body mostly. Is that SPD or just a strain? It's a bit better today but I'm taking it easy.

thelollipoplady · 13/07/2009 15:14

Hi everyone - no time to read through thread but just to let you all know, Hugo arrived first thing on Friday morning (3 days past due date) weighing close to a whopping 9lbs!

It was a long all night labour followed by some super syntocinon-augmented contractions (ouch) but thanks to an amazing midwife managed to escape with just a tiny tear and no stitches.

Congrats to everyone who's had their babies and comiserations to everyone who's overdue like I was last week...

Phoenix · 13/07/2009 16:00

Me and Noah are home, i'll post more later. I've just read through, while he's sleeping, and done the the list

Congrats to everyone on all the new babies! It really is all happening now isn't it :D

Just back from midwife, had a sweep, bit uncomfortable but ok. 3/5 engaged, 1cm dilated, 100% effaced, so just waiting for the monkey to move further down. Next sweep next Monday and induction booked for that Wednesday.

Sending labour vibes to all the overdue mummies

hobbgoblin · 13/07/2009 19:15

We could start an overdue club at this rate!

Congartulations all.

Love the name Activity Apple!

Mij · 13/07/2009 19:53

Congratulations to everyone - way behind on reading posts but the list looks very different all of a sudden! And a great lot of names too .

Just a word of encouragement to those on a stop-start schedule. I was too, from the Thursday afternoon through to Sunday. And then Sunday night it went to 'proper' labour and DD2 was born on the Monday afternoon, so hang in there, it will happen!

Have gone all sling-tastic with DD2, as while she's more put-downable than DD1 ever was, she's still not wild about the moses basket (just bought a hammock on ebay - hoping she'll like the cuddlyness of it more) so the Kari-me and Hotsling is doing sterling work when we need to get breakfast/tea/whatever sorted out. DD1 being a doll with DD2, but is in serious need of Mummy cuddles too, so hoping to try a newborn back-carry with one of my wraps soon. Think 'twill take nerve and practice!

soozze · 13/07/2009 22:56

woollyjo what a lovely photo of niamh. Thinking of you and your family xxx

I?ve missed so many babies ? congratulations Lydia, Natty, phoenix, lollipop and activity!!!

Glad to hear you?re home with noah phoenix, I?m so impressed you have time to update the list

Plot2 so pleased to hear all is well with your lo, a really inspirational story after all the worry you went through.

Hope things are moving for you now jetli

I tried my kari me out today, not at all sure I had it on right but she didn?t fall out and we managed to go strawberry picking I guess to bf in it you need a top you can pull right down? Getting my top up under it was too hard.

Gillyan · 14/07/2009 09:01

activity Well done hun, what a cool baby name! I love it!

Phoenix · 14/07/2009 09:05

feeding and typing one handed so sorry for any mistakes

We went into hospital for 7.30am on friday morning, shown into a private room, got a gown on, had a chat with my miswife, took an antacid tablet and dramk some liquid stuff, can't remember what that was for, and i was taken into theatre about 9am.

Spinal went in fine and section was underway foe around 9.20-9.30. They said they would get to baby in abour 5 mins but it took longer because of the previous scar tissue. Noah was born at 9.50am. The anaesthetist (sp?) told me he was crying before he was fully out

We had a quick glimpse of him then they took him to clean him up. after a few mins the midwife came over and told us that he had a finger missing on his left hand . I got quite upset by that obviously. but it really isn't that bad. his hand looks fully formed and unless you were to study and count his fingers you probably wouldn't noticw as there is no gap or stump or anything, just a missing little finger. Its on his left hand (Those on facebook you can see it clearly on one of the photos of him) They just said it;s one of those things and can see no reason why it happened.

He will also have to go gor a kidney scan in 4wks because his umbilival cord had a vein missing. The hospital said its not very common and they only usually see it oncwe a month and always in boys and it can cause kidney problems but as he is passing urine they think he's ok.

But my little man is so gorgeous and his big brother loves him so much

I'm still breastfeeding but i don't know how long i will carry on. I had full intention of mix feeding and then going to formula. I think i'll stick to it a bit longer but am still intending to switch to formula at some point.

Those others who had sections have you got a numb bum after sitting down for a while with been constantly sat in bed or chair in hospital?

I feel so much bretter after this section than i did after ds1's i haven't really got that much pain at all. Last time i felt like my body had been split in half for weeks after. I keep having to remind myself that i had magor surgery a few days ago.

Midwife is coming out at some point today.

Phoenix · 14/07/2009 09:06

congrats activity

ilikeyoursleeves · 14/07/2009 10:16

Congratulations to the new bambinos! And to the mummies Phoenix & Activity! Sounds like you are all settling well into mummyhood, I can't wait to join you all there. That must have been a bit of a shock Phoenix that Noah has a finger missing but I think these things aren't that uncommon, a friend of mines wee boy was born with only a thumb on one hand (other hand fine) and it hasn't held him back in any significant way. Still a bit of a surprise no less but Noah sounds totally adorable, and that's great that big bro loves him loads already! (what's the age gap?). I hope the kidney scan goes well too.

Still nowt from here, absolutely no twinges or anything. DS is in nursery this morning so I have a morning of planned unplannedness LOL, going to bum about on MN for a bit then go for a long bath I have a sore bum just now with the dreaded piles so hopefully that will help.

Meant to ask too, is anyone noticing reduced movements from their yet to be born LO's? Or is mine just too comfy?

Oh and what do you think of our potential boys names?

Belgrano · 14/07/2009 10:31

Phoenix wow that sounds like a pretty good experience. Good luck with the scan and the missing finger, I bet it's a bother not being able to totally relax but it sounds like they think its probly ok since he is weeing. I have friends with missing digits and like someone said it hasn't held them back at all.

Plot2 I never posted to say HURRAY! Hurray for the little fighter that is Christy in being born absolutely fine after all that! I am so delighted for you. I know we were going through similar bother at similar times with test results and the like so I've been looking out for your posts about it. So his body made up for it and he is now fine. CLever mother nature and clever boy.

Re piles - I second the advice I was given about Sudocrem. Try it, sore-bum-people, it really works!

I have a weird twitching fingers/thumb situation on my right hand and am winding myself up something rotten convincing myself it might be a brain tumour or something, especially since my toe started joining in last night - also only on the RH side. I am so paranoid since my father's death in May. Not good. Anyone else got any weird twitching digits? been going on for a coupla weeks. Off to doc tomorrow to be told not to be so silly hopefully!
