Activity - I had a sweep at 1wk over with ds. I was 2cm dialated. I had a show within an hour of been home from the midwife, mild contractions soon followed and i had them most of the night, they faded off in the early hours though. They returned the next day stronger and i went into hospital that evening and ds was born the next day (i made it to pushing stage but ended in c section)

Bonzo - that BF info is very interesting, thanks for that

The birth announcements have slowed down this week, where are all the babies?

I've been so lazy most of the day. I was up at 6am with ds and left dh in bed. I did a few loads of washing, loaded the dishwasher and cleaned the kitchen then after that i've layed on the sofa all day napping on and off

I've got my pre op tomorrow before my c section on Friday

Belgrano · 08/07/2009 17:17

Wow loads of messages! Thanks to everyone for your encouraging stories about baby measurements etc. It's made me feel a lot better. I'll let you all know how big/small the nipper is at the scan on Fri.
Alibobble, that soudns very stressful for you but it also sounds like its just what your body does when you are pg but I bet it is bothersome. Poor you.
Christiana, love the name Ruby.
Oops going to be late to get DD from childminders so better run!

lydiathetattooedlady · 08/07/2009 17:33

hi everyone, just a quick one to say Bill James was born monday 10.14 am weighing 7lb11oz (not 81/2lb like i was told he at least weighed now!)
spent sunday having people telling me how massive i am and when is baby going to get here grrrr! resigned myself to the fact he was going to be late! started noticing contractions about 9 pm sunday after a day filled with bbq and cake! headed to hospital about 3am, got there and was mortified to be told only 2cm!! gave me gas and air, there was a shift change over at 7.30 was examnined again and told i was still only 4 to which i replied 'you must be f***g joking!'
any way they offered to give me some aromatherapy oils to help strngthen contractions. waters broke then he was born very quickly on to a bean bag!
he's been an absolute angel, however having a real problem breast feeding. h'es got a tongue tie so cant latch on properly so within 12 hours my nipples were bleeding and cracked, i've tried perservering but have been told if i want to continue i will either have to put up with the pain and discomfort until my nipples become hardened to it or get his frenulum cut which seems a bit barbaric just for me to breast feed him! have tried to day doing one feed boob one feed bottle, he only takes an oz off a bottle but it gives my bloodied nips a rest!
anyway i hope everyone else is doing good, and sorry for the ones over due!

Phoenix · 08/07/2009 17:48

My RL friend is on the June 07 thread with TheNatty and she just told me she posted on there to say she had a baby boy, so congrats Natty if you're around

Gillyan · 08/07/2009 18:31

Well done lydia Your poor nips! I sympathise, I gave up on Sun night, sorry your having a rough time, gorgeous pics on FB!

JetLi · 08/07/2009 20:47

Well done Lydia! Congratulations x

QueenFee · 08/07/2009 21:07

lydia congrats. Just to say re tongue tie it used to be routine to cut all babies at birth and to keep an eye on feeding because if it is quite severe they sometimes have trouble with bottles too. (My friends DS had this problem) Hope it all goes fine though - usually improves as they get bigger anyway x

bozette · 08/07/2009 21:30

Congratulations Lydia, yet another lovely name! Hope your nips don't get any worse. I've bought nipple shields, lansinoh etc in preparation as i was there last time.

New washing machine and tumble dryer not arriving til friday, so will have 3 days to wash baby stuff, hope nothing happens sooner!

Tay i'm also having worse reflux than ever. I've had it from the first trimester and have been on ranitidine for ages which doesn't completely control things so also have a gaviscon habit. It dissappeared the day DS was born, all hormonal so only 5 days to go for me

Belgrano · 08/07/2009 21:43

Congratulations Lydia! Great news. Well done. It soudns awesome! I do know a few babies who have had a tongue-tie cut BTW and they have all been fine - it doesn't even seem to hurt them. It can be a real prob so cutting it can really help and of course not forgetting your poor boobs which need help not 'toughening up' (ouch!).Good luck withever you choose.

TMI alert - HELP!! I have had horrid 'loose bowels' for a few days now. My bum is really sore! Every time I eat anything I have to go to the loo shortly after. It's not really diarrhoea as it's not really liquid but its very soft and preceded by cramps and happens about 6 times a day. I am also very gassy . And my tummy makes gurgling squirting noises all the time. Anyone sharing this? Is it just the baby pressing on my gut and annoying it? It's horrible. my sore bum is HORRIBLE and I had piles to start with so sore, rubbed raw to clean them after all this soft-motioning-6-times-a-day piles is not a good place to be. Please help!

chaya5738 · 08/07/2009 21:49

Congratulations everyone on the births of your beautiful babies

Phoenix, can you add me. Baby is due tomorrow 9 July. He/she is a surprise.

xox

Phoenix · 08/07/2009 21:56

Hi Chaya, welcome to the thread . I've added you and will add the list to the thread next time we have a baby

xxhunnyxx · 08/07/2009 22:03

activity just turn your phone off! I was gettin pissed off with the texts n I didn't even go over my due date!
U could just try sitting on the floor with your legs open n then lean over and scrub the floor, worked for me! Failing that then yes a sweep should hopefully work x

breastfeeding - Joseph still isn't latching on, he just likes to lie there and have the milk poured down his neck - typical man! lol. I'm now just hand expressing some milk off so he's having about 30mls of my milk followed by about 50mls of formula. I'm so much happier now, it's like I've got the best of both worlds . I'd still LOVE to see him feeding from me but I think it's only gonna cause me more stress and upset the longer I try.

woollyjo · 08/07/2009 22:21

Hi All,

Congratulations on all the arrivals.

I have posted a photo of Niamh on my profile page if anyone wants to take a look.

Still battling on - My boobs have been really sore as I wait for my body to re-absorb the milk. Its been a week now and it still hurts to touch them although at least they aren't trying to climb out of my bra anymore!

We have arranged that Niamh will go into the shared grave that SANDs provide. The burial will take place in a couple of weeks due to the chaplain being away - can't really bear to think about it.

I think I am going to sign off now. Good luck with everything girls. Enjoy your precious, precious babies XXXXX

alibobble · 09/07/2009 03:09

Hi everyone. thanks for your comments. Feel a bit less stressed now. Am suffering crazy insomnia at the moment not aided by DD having a cough so waking up!

Glad I'm not the only one suffering cramps. In the past 3 weeks have had 3 sets of pains that lasted about an hour, (tonight included) that then went away but left me wide awake wondering if anything else would happen. I wish it would just get on with it rather than all this faffing about!

Congratulations to all who've managed to pop already you lucky things!

hobbgoblin · 09/07/2009 03:44

Woollyjo, so pleased to see a pic of Niamh. I had secretly hoped you would post one. She is beautiful.

In case anyone is wondering what I am doing posting at nearly 4 in the morning, I thought I was in labour so stayed up and did housework. Not so sure now, so am going to bed but have to be up at 7 for the school run. Silly me.

scully · 09/07/2009 06:00

Labour and housework, never a good combination Hobbgoblin Hope you weren't too tired for the school run.
Lovely picture of Niamh Woolly, she looks so peaceful.
Sounds like a good compromise for you and Joseph Hunny, doing bottle and breast
More cramping on and off today but hasn't progessed at all. So tired today as dd2 was throwing up, coughing and running a temp of 39+ last night so didn't sleep much past 2.30am.......They aren't routinely testing for swine flu anymore here, just if you are in a certain categroy, which she isn't. But they have tested to make sure it isn't any nasty respiritory bug, with us having a new baby in the house sometime very soon. & in the last hour dd1 has decided to be jealous of the attention dd2 is getting, by being fluey, having to go to the doctor and have tests done, seriously I give up some days
Congrats on Bill's arrival Lydia, your poor nips though Hope he manages to feed easier soon, for both of you.
I wonder who is next?

Patchybob · 09/07/2009 09:51

Woolyjo what a beautiful picture of dear little Niamh. She looks so amazing.

Belgrano re your sore bum!! I had the same problem and in the end tried sudocream. Amazing stuff and by the next morning I was like a new woman! Try it instead of anusol etc, it really works. Hope things improve!

Have a good day everyone, sports day at dc school today. The headteacher has told both the dc that they can only come 3rd as she doesn't want the excitement of either of them coming first or last to set off my labour!!!

Hello - newbie here.

First baby due on 19th. Don't know what it is but all healthy and the right size. Likes music (huge jabbing heel kicks, not in time but that'll come, ha ha!). I didn't like last week's hot weather but much better now. Other than ballooning feet in the heat, have had absolutely zero other preg problem symptoms.

Bit bored now though, but not long to go. Booked into a midwife-led unit so am really hoping to get one of the rooms with a pool.

tum-ti-tum... that's all I can think of. Off to make a picnic for going to see Bootleg Beatles tonight at Kew Gardens! xx

Misspaella · 09/07/2009 12:57

Woolyjo she is beautiful. Thank you for sharing her with us and again all the best. I still can't imagine your pain.

Belgrano · 09/07/2009 13:41

Woolyjo Niamh is gorgeous. Thank you for letting us share her picture.
Good luck with everything that comes next, we're thinking of you.

QueenFee · 09/07/2009 13:58
