Congratulations ... and celebrations ... to all mums who've had their babies over the last few days, is fantastic reading all about how the labour went, you are all sounding pretty darn chilled which is very reassuring! Apologies for not mentioning you all indivdually- your stories are inspiring !

3 weeks to go for me now but have been getting tons of BH which is strange as didn't have a single one with DD, also heaps of low-down cramps and the electric shocks on the cervix are increasing yikes

Am double checking there's plenty diesel in the car and that I haven't missed out anything vital in my hospital bag.

Feel a bit spaced out but think that's down to my lovely sweet DD getting up at 5.20am so it feels like it's at least 12 noon

Oh sounds like a wonderful birth misspaella congratulations!

I dreamed last night I had this huge baby of mine naturally and ... it was a tennis ball!!! I measured it and said to DH "that's not a 10 cm head" .... ??? think I should keep off the cheese?

Tay1981 · 06/07/2009 10:59

Hi

This is the first time I've actually written anything on here although have been an avid reader for a while now! Don't seem to have many pregnant friends so seeing that you lot are all in the same boat has been v reassuring!

Due on July 11th. Its my first pregnancy and we are having a girl. Really impatient for things to get going now ....saw the MW last Mon and she reckoned baby so low she was unlikely to see me again - came away v encouraged and now the frustration is starting to kick in again - have had pre-labour symptoms for about 2/3 weeks - lots of BH, period pains, knitting needle in fanny, lots of discharge etc but alas still nothing - grrrr!

Anyway - reading about everyone's experiences has been a real comfort so far so thought I may as well actually join in!

Patchybob · 06/07/2009 12:30

Good you could join us Tay1981, It does help when we are all in the same boat.

Misspaella what a fab birth story, hope things are still going well for you.

Nothing much to report, didn't get much sleep so feel quite tired and grumpy today...for a change ! Have rushed off to the shops and it was my last chance to get the final bits and pieces. Have quite a busy week this week in preparation for monday. I can't believe that this time next week I could be holding my baby! Hoorah!

Anyway, hope you are all ok, ActivityApple hope it goes quickly for you xx

ilikeyoursleeves · 06/07/2009 13:25

Congratulations to all the new mummies! Well done Hunny Becca & Misspaella! Welcome to Tamequa and Tay too!

Belgrano don't worry at all about being on your knees at the birth, I did this to push last time as I found it to be the most natural position that helped me (think gravity). DH was holding my hand and midwife was behind me but TBH I didn't even think about it being pornesque at all, you are so caught up with the birth that how you look is totally far from your mind! I even whipped my nightie off straight after DS was born and didn't give a toss, just wanted lots of skin to skin contact with DS.

I've been having loads of Braxton Hicks lately, do you think that's a sign that things are moving?

Gillyan · 06/07/2009 14:01

Welocme to tamequa and tay1981 Yes we're all in the same boat, I was so impatient and really I was lucky as my DD2 is 2 wks old tomorrow and I had her at 37 + 5 so could of been worse if i'd had to go to 42 wks or something! It won't be long for you now!

I can't believe how much I have wishing the weeks away and now I wish they would slow down. I can't believe Summer in 2 wks old tomorrow!

krumbockmummy · 06/07/2009 14:22

Hello and welcome to tameque and tay1981

Congratulations to mispaella love the birth story, everyone has had quick births so far. Tips please......!!! i only have 8 to 10 hours to get baby out this time round or they will have to csection me again. I want to use the all fours position this time have heard good things about it but will be renameing it the porn star. never thought of it that why but makes me and hubby will love it.

DD is at nursery and i am sat on my ever expanding bum watching home and away.

QueenFee · 06/07/2009 14:24

belgrano It was only when I got on the bed kneeling (which is what felt right to do) that the baby suddenly went from being barely engaged to dropping right down and my waters breaking.Alfie was born a few contractions later so I think it is important to follow what you feel. If I hadn't I may have ended up with a lot more interventions. (tmi alert yes I did a poo in front of everyone but was in too much pain to care except between contractions when I felt 'normal' and kept apologising )

Welcome to newbies

Congrats missp I was also labouring on postnatal until I just got to the point I knew I was making too much noise and felt uncomfortable about it so insisted I was moved my MW agreed so some poor person must have been moved on!

soozze · 06/07/2009 15:38

lovely birth story mispaella, congratulations huge congrats to hunny, becca and queenfee too ! these babies are coming so fast now !

hi and welcome tamequa and tay

Making it to M&S before the birth was a great idea. I forgot to take something more substantual for after the birth. had loads of stuff like juice and nibbles for during the birth but afterwards I was starving and the hospital canteen was closing.

krumbockmummy · 06/07/2009 19:52

MW phoned and i have very low iron levels so wants me on iron tablets till the birth.

Just had a bowl of ice cream and he is trying to kick his way out (think he liked it)

i am loving the weather, in the middle of a thunder storm at the mo just thinking of the poor hubby stuck out in it doing fireman drills

mumofshortie73 · 06/07/2009 20:20

Krumbockmummy do you think they do iron-fortified ice-cream ?

i have been going crazy for liquorice allsorts & think my baby is enjoying that, though have to restrict my intake as it does affect the digestive system somewhat

Misspaella you have planted a seed now in my mind about a detour to M&S to stock up on goodies on the way to hospital !!

tameque and tay1981- hi there & welcome !

Looking forward to watching The Supersizers tonight- is the 1950's one tonight, postponed last week cos of Wimbledon- Bonzo -reckon cheese will feature at all ?

Had a couple of sharp knitting needle pains in my tum today while hanging up washing- took me a bit by surprise and my breath away- DD- 'are you okay Mummy ?' !!

Patchybob · 06/07/2009 21:01

mmmh...DS has taken to calling me Fat Girl and singing that Mika song "Big Girl" I think its called, whenever i come in the room. Quite funny now, but not so funny in a couple of weeks when he is still doing it!! Cheeky little sod!

Belgrano · 06/07/2009 22:21

Gah! What a day! I went for midwife appt this morning and they measured me 5 cm small for dates, while also noting in my notes that the scan I had 10 days ago put the baby on 95th centile for size. Obviously those two things don't add up at all! Massive baby and tiny bump -
Off to hosp with me (after trying to find someone to take DD at zero notice). Cue enormous queues of ladies at day assesment unit so I waited hours and then lots of chin scratching. I was really upset and DH managed to come up. Then they re measured me a different way (along the baby's spine_ so basically doing a bendy line down my tummy - not surprisingly a bendy line is longer than a straight one!). So they came up with 36 cm. I am 38 wks so that is deemed acceptable.
She also said its tucked right under my ribs and is 'all limbs'. God knowswhat any of this means but I am to go back for a scan on Friday. WHAT A LOT OF WORRY THIS BABY IS CAUSING! I just don't need this with losing my father in May and it's all a bit much.
Grrrrr.
Rant over. Hope you all are ok.

JetLi · 07/07/2009 07:57

Morning all!
Welcome Tam and Tay.
Don't blame you for being thoroughly fed up Belgrano - sounds like a nightmare day for you yesterday. It would have been better I guess to scan you yesterday instead of you trailing back again to clinic on Friday.
Congratulations to Queenfee, MissPaella, Becca and hunny!! Hope you're all thriving.
Still no signs of impending labour in this house. Wondering whether we should resort to shagging . May have to get DP a bit tipsy - he looks rather daunted at the prospect of positioning I think. A couple of pints of Guinness should steady his nerve.
Oh well, better get up and do a bit of work. The ironing pile is getting ridiculous.

slushy06 · 07/07/2009 10:50

I saw mw baby is now 2/5 engaged so is at least moving in the right direction.

To all the ladies having no symptoms Don't worry I had none on my ds and we was out of hospital by now however this pg been having them all for two weeks lost plug constant cramps and nitting needles and no labor.

I have been booked for a sweep Monday so hoping I will go before they start interfering. May have to start with the pineapple.

bozette · 07/07/2009 12:43

Aaargh!! This is what happens when you leave everything until the lastminute! Yesterday I finally started washing baby clothes, and of course the bloody washing machine stopped working! Have had someone round this morning and will hopefully be fixed this afternoon but have loads to wash and dry before MIL arrives on friday at lunchtime! And of course its raining so can't hang stuff outside now, and its one of those useless washer dryer things. Pants pants pants pants!

krumbockmummy · 07/07/2009 13:07

looks like a few people are having a bad day. DD has wet the bed for the second night in a row, had a bath this morning and ended up with DD in there to. been having BH all morning again, and that bloody knitting needle is back. house is a mess but really cant be bothered to do it but on the other side i am boiling a massive bit of gammon yum yum

Also will be looking after my cousins 3 wk old after 5, she is getting married on the 25th july and is having a practice run with make up and hair so i offered to look after her for a few hours

Hope everyones day brightens up, xxx

xxhunnyxx · 07/07/2009 13:23

Hi all,

Me and Joseph came home from hospital yesterday, we're both great, had a fantastic labour (although it didn't really seem it at the time) lol.

After losing my plug on Friday afternoon I started getting achey period pains and they gradually got stronger through the night and by about 3am I was sure that it was defo labour. I then stayed at home until about 11.30am until I decided I could do with some gas and air. I was 4cm when we arrived at the hospital and I wanted to use the birthing pool but the boiler was broken so they had to fill it up using the kettle so it wasn't ready until I was 9cm and almost ready to push. Once I got in the pool it was sooooo much better, I was much more relaxed and felt much more in control. It was totally amazing seeing him being born in the water too, he literally shot out of me, one second there was just a head poking out and then the next second there was my baby in front of me. Best moment of my life!!!
I managed to escape with no stitches too .

Joseph is totally perfect and I'm head over heals in love with him! we tried breast feeding but I've got inverted nipples and Joseph is a bit of a lazy boy so wasn't working very hard so after he'd still not had a proper feed after 24 hours we had to admit defeat and give him a bottle. My milk is comin in at the mo so gonna keep tryin to breastfeed, hopefully he might get the hang of it once he doesn't have to work so hard for it, failing that I'll express some.

My ex didn't make it to the birth, didn't even respond to my texts when I told him he was a Dad but last night I sent him a totally adorable pic and he text this morning apologising and he's gonna come and see him today

Hope everybody else is well and good luck to anybody about to drop x

JetLi · 07/07/2009 13:43

Awwww - well done hunny - that's a lovely birth account. Top job done there Missus I reckon
Good luck with the breast feeding chuck - hopefully it will work out for you.
Make sure your ex at least runs the bloody hoover over or cleans the bathroom or something else useful when he turns up - fancy not responding to your texts. Some serious making up to be done by him there I reckon and it can best be achieved by housework!!

BonzoDoodah · 07/07/2009 15:18

Congratulations hunny very, very jealous of your lovely sounding waterbirth. Perfect scenario! hope you and Joseph get to grips with the breastfeeding (it is great to be able to). But don't get down if you can't.
Shame your Ex is still being a T**T but there you go ... did you have your mum or sister with you? Hope they were supportive for you.
Maybe Ex will fall in love with Joseph when he sees him and hte world will change (or pigs fly) - hope he does chnge though.

I went ot Aquanatal class today and it was bliss just to have the weight of the bump lifted. Oh and cool too ... lovely!
