Hi there everyone - i just logged on to check in on the new baby news. i'm so sorry woolyjo nobody should have to go through this. god bless little Niamh. my thoughts are with you and your family at this terrible time.

plot2 · 01/07/2009 22:06

woollyjo I have had many dark moments throughout my pregnancy thinking my baby would not survive but no amount of imagination can comprehend the loss of a child. My deepest sympathy and prayers to you and your family. I hope you are surrounded by love and support.

My son Christy was born on 29th June at 10.31am weighing 7lb 7oz.

On initial examinations he seems a healthy baby boy, we will be seeing consultant for heart and liver scans on Monday to check if all is as well as it seems.

Got back home this evening, my recovery is going really well.

Good luck to everyone.

RIP Niamh x

bozette · 01/07/2009 22:17

Plot2 Congratulations to you on the safe arrival of Christy. Post your birth story when you get chance? And a photo too?

My blacksmith said today that I look as though have gone about a month overdue but then went on to say that I looked normal everywhere else except my HUGE pregnant belly. Er, yes, I know!! But it's going soon!! Still poop scooping my field but it's not bringing labour on, though it does give me backache and makes me feel hot & bothered. Though maybe that's cause it IS hot. Anyway, nice to see other not first timers due next week are also waiting.

Anyway, baby can't come yet as we're moving house this weekend. (Can't find a crazy smiley)
Then he's allowed to come; hope it doesn't hurt too much, thinking more about the labour now Especially as friend had her 1st baby today and as labour progressed quicker than expected, she dilated to 9cm WITHOUT pain relief. But that exhausted her and she ended up having emergency forceps delivery after pushing for 6 hours to no avail. Whole experience not great and she says NEVER doing it again I'm going to same hospital; hope they pull their finger out for me!! Would like gas & air BEFORE am 9cm dilated!?

Rant over.

Christiana Lovely wording for the list. Are you thinking we could all donate direct to Shrops SANDS at the end of all deliveries for the July thread in memory of Niamh, so they receive an en mass donation? Or are we doing it individually any time. I don't suppose it makes much difference, just thinking out loud. It's late and my brain's getting tired.

Beccabump · 02/07/2009 10:48

Hello ladies - been keeping up with stories, keep bursting into tears every time I think about Woolyjo.

Was supposed to be lying in this morning but couldn't sleep past 7am so have been procrastinating instead of finishing my packing for tomorrow. Thankfully we are getting lots of rain here today but it is still very warm.

Any ideas on what I have missed in my bags? I have had to put in a few extra bits because of the possibility of an EMCS. Thought if I did it I probably wouldn't need it IYKWIM!

In my bag I have got -

Maternity pads
Breast pads
Wash kit - toothbrush etc
Lots of pants
PJ's and two huge t-shirts for nighties
A t-shirt for labour
Dressing gown
Diet and regular lemonade (my sugars dropped v low last time)
Some sweets and also some savoury biscuits and tracker bars
Paracetamol for hubby! (He had a huge headache by the end last time but didn't feel he could really say anything!)
TENS machine
GameBoy and book (hahahaha some chance of using them!)
Phone and charger
Camera
Spare batteries for camera and TENS machine
Some clothes for coming home.

Also:
Extra pillow (I like to be propped up and there are never enough in hospital!)
Birthing ball

In baby's bag I have:
3 newborn sleepsuits and vests
3 0-3 sleepsuits and vests (just in case he IS huge!)
Newborn nappies
Cotton wool
A cardigan
Blanket
Coming home outfit

We can get more stuff brought in if necessary but only after the birth.

I don't have a nursing bra yet so will have to manage at the moment till I can get measured!!!

Hubby will be with me for cash etc. We can walk around the hospital and use the restaurant till I am in proper labour.

We have to ring the hospital at 6.30am tomorrow with a view to being up there at 8am!!!!!

Good luck for tomorrow becca. I hope you've told the estate agent they can't do any viewings over the next couple of weeks and make sure you bolt that front door locked!
Have you got some kinda cool spray? I've got a spray bottle with a fan on it and gonna put a couple of drops of peppermint oil in the water too. Or my friend used Magicool and said it was fab.
My midwife recommended putting some bottles of water in the freezer and just taking them out when you're setting off to hospital.

rubyriley · 02/07/2009 12:12

Quick one as off to hospital.

Has consultant appointment & my baby is now lying transverse!! So risk of cord prolapse if waters break now (I'm 39+1) Could've booked a c section for tomorrow but consultant thinks stands good chance of turning by due date. Can't believe it and have felt very emotional about it but the safety of baby comes 1st. If in hospital and waters break, crash team will take us down to theatre & whip him out!!

Was all going normally until now so am in a state of shock. But, off to hospital with my case go I. Will get DP to post any news but may not be for a while as am hoping position reverts to head down.

Love & best wishes to everyone

xxxxx

dannyg · 02/07/2009 12:54

Hia all just a quick post Maisie was born 30/06/09 at 11:31am by c section weighing 8lb30z. was only in 26hrs and came home yest doing well but hot and achy. will post more when im more with it. Have posted some pics on Fb & hopefully here. have not had a chance to read back over posts yet but hope you are all doing well x x x

Beccabump · 02/07/2009 12:59

christiana got the lansinoh!! The only bra fitter in town (we live in the sticks!) is off till next week so I can even get a measurement! I have tried using a tape measure and online sites but have had 4 different sizes come up so far!
Am going to take my bikini top as it is nice and comfy, supportive and adjustable!

Got hubbys cd player too and cd's.

Now have packed cooling spray!

xxhunnyxx yes have told the estate agents! Luckily the guy has 4 kids so was pretty understanding!

rubeyriley eek! that must have been a shock for you - hope all goes well with baby turning!

I am now in total panic mode about tomorrow, mainly because I don't want to leave DD
Also worried about how long it might take to get going...DD was 3 days of induction followed by 36 hour labour

Thanks for the advice so far ladies!

krumbockmummy · 02/07/2009 13:01

My thoughts and prayers go out to woollyjo and her family in this terrible time. All my love xx

But also a huge congratulations to Nicky6, Vanimal, Mij and Plot2 on the save arrival of your babies.

Have been up since 4:30am this morning with a funny tummy have been in and out the bath room most of the day really want to go for a walk but feet have swallow and its to hot.

Iam watching DD doing yoga?? its a strange new programme on cbeebies. feel really guilty to day have left DD entertaining herself most of the day with cartoons as i am to tried and uncomfortable to do anything (bad mum)

Good luck to rubyriley my fingers are crossed for you. xx

Beccabump · 02/07/2009 13:08

Also meant to say I have written DH a list that is in the top of each bag so he doesn't have to rummage through to see if something is in there

JLo2 · 02/07/2009 13:19

Hi all
I'm back in the real world after a longer than anticipated stay in hospital. There are so many messages to read that I can't quite catch up yet, but wanted to send my love to woollyjo

Baby JLo arrived on 21st June (Father's Day) after a very quick and painful labour (2 hours). No time to fill up the pool or call the anaesthetist (spelling??) so just gas and air this time round.
Unfortunately he contracted Group B Strep resulting in pneumonia, septacaemia and meningitis. A scarey few days followed, but all is well now and we came home last night to the delight of his 3 older brothers.

I will try and catch up with the rest of the messages over the next few days

I've not been on for 2 days and SOOO many babies to catch up with - great news for you all.

Plot2 wonderful wonderful news about the birth of Christy (love the name). After all the worry and stress of your pregnancy (I've been worrying away for you) - such a tough time for you all the way along. It has made my DAY that all went well. So happy for you. Fingers crossed for the tests showing all is well - but it must be such a relief to hold him safely in your arms.

Mij - Super news! Congratulations on the birth of Catlin and such a lovely birth story too.

Nicky6 what a quick rush at the hospital - 8 minutes! Eeek. Hope your stitches aren't too hideous. Congratulations on the birth of Noah.

Dannyg Congratulations on the birth of Maisie and beautiful pictures! Come back and give us your birth story when you can.

JLo - oh heck ruddy scary about the GroupBStrep. I hope your little boy is okay. Do you have a name yet?

For anyone worried about it -> HERE is some info on GroupB and how to get tested for it. If you're positive they give you antibiotics during labour.

Christiana do you have a name yet?

ActivityApple how were Ozomatli?? Very Jealous! Seen them twice at festivals and they are super!

Beccabump - exciting stuff! The hospital sounds lovely and you sounds like you know what you're doing and it's going to go well. Good luck for tomorrow and come back and tell us all about it. And phone the Estate agents today and tell them they are not to contact you again for at least 3 weeks - viewings booked or not.

Rubyriley - yes I'm sure you're right about the head plates - although with DD she was 2 weeks overdue and the consultant told me afterwards that the more over date you go the more the head plates calcify (fuse together) so they stop moving so over eachother so much. I hope your babe's head manages to squish - oh gosh your update .... I hope you read my story about with my DD - she was transverse at 38 weeks and I had to go into the hospital. I turned her myself by putting a very cold shower on her head - she moved away from it and down - maybe you can try this. Good luck!

And me ... having said I've not suffered yet my ankles swelled up like balloons on tuesday and wednesday night. Great. But otherwise glad I'm still in the aircon office.

mavornia · 02/07/2009 16:24

hello everyone - sorry i seemed to have dropped off the edge of the planet. I'm still at my parents' house and computer has been down for a few months, everything only up and running again now and I kept meaning to go to internet cafe but never found the time.

so so sorry, woollyjo - can't imagine what you must be going through and so sorry for your loss

my goodness - can't believe how many babies born! and what lovely names

I'm 36 weeks today, due on 30 July but hospital said they won't let me go past 38 or 39 weeks because of my diabetes. my feet, ankles, fingers and face have puffed up ridiculously this past few days - I can hardly walk and none of my shoes fit, even my canoe-like beloved Birkenstocks. I've been a snappy witch with poor dh this past week too - eg if he asks if I remembered the camera at the park, I almost burst into tears and scream "how dare you make that my responsibility!" I think he'll be glad when I finally pop

moodylou · 02/07/2009 16:33

Congratulations to Dannyg, JLo2, Plot2, Vanimal and Nicky6 on your safe arrivals. With any luck i'll be joining you soon

Good luck for tomorrow Beccabump (and a belated good luck to QueenFee - hope things are going well). I've got my fingers crossed that your LO turns face down rubyriley.

I went to see midwife yesterday as it was my due date and my bump is measuring 44 weeks now! And the baby is now laying back to back . And i have a UTI! Midwife didn't seem too concerned about any of it though and didn't bother putting half of this info in my notes

Wow loads of babies today

Congratulations dannyg, JLo2 and QueenFee

I've been at the hospital today and been examined. Cervix is soft but closed so there's no way they can break my waters yet so i'm going in for the c-section next week

Welcome back Mavornia, i've re-added you to the list

Hope all is well with you RubyRiley.

Good luck for tomorrow Becca
