In honour of Christiana CS tomorrow thought I'd start a new thread as the other one getting unwieldly.
Best of luck Christiana

Gillyan, recovery sounds to be going great and glad you're so happy about the breastfeeding, that's great news.

QueenFee · 29/06/2009 21:02

Hi all danny and Bonzo comiserations on your bad days/news

I must admit I have it in the back of my mind that when I go in on wednesday they will send me home because they are too busy - would be just my luck
gillyan glad for you that the breastfeeding seems to be doing what you want - hope it continues x

My DS keeps running away from me because he knows I cant keep up now he has always been really good about not running off too.
I got all the car seats in the back of my car today boy it's a squash in there but just about manageable.
Ds kept pointing to the baby seat and saying Baby sweet to realise that he is making some connections then

Phoenix · 29/06/2009 21:19

Oh and whoever it was that mentioned about the knitting needles up the fanjo pain, i've had that today. Never had it before and thought people exagerated it but no it bloody is like that and at one point today i nearly jumped off the sofa it hurt that much. Just getting them again now, ouch!!

krumbockmummy · 29/06/2009 21:46

Been at hospital today on the monitor, was having BH and then lost a little fluid so MW wanted me to go in. all is fine baby is moving around, cervix is closed and waters have not broken. which i am really glad about, thought the consult was going mining when he came to check me out had a torch and everything

Going to get in the bath now and relax

Hope every1 else is doing ok in this heat xx

QueenFee · 29/06/2009 21:56

Oh and meant to say that I had another sweep today and the mw said things were looking better than thursday, so something is happening anyway. She said if I could get the baby to engage and stay there I would probably go into labour as cervix is so soft and stretchy which is good apparently although it still need to efface and dilate more. So here I am right now sitting on birthing ball mumsnetting whilst eating an ice cream!

BonzoDoodah · 29/06/2009 22:38

Thanks for all your commiserations - I feel better for having talked it out a bit.
My DD was 9lb and had a very large head so after 6 days of contractions I ended up with a CS. Hence the growth scan this time.
(They estimate the weight from a mixture of the head diameter, abdomen size and leg length - all off the top of the chart - boo).

Lol at JetLi and the circle line and krumbock at the mining ....what the heck was the torch for??

Dannyg - nightmare and also outrageous to leave you without even a drink for so long. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Things can only get better eh.

Gillyan sounds wonderful that you've managed to get back to the BF. And your little girl sounds like an angel. Lucky you!

Hot Hot hot hot hot ... too bloody hot ....

woollyjo · 30/06/2009 01:32

Contractions started an hour ago at 5 mins apart, a lot stronger and quicker than I remember them starting with DD. Wired up to the tens machine already.

Rang into the maternity unit no mention of needing to go in (there were 9 of us hoping for a home birth around the same time last time I heard). Need to ring back again in an hour.

BonzoDoodah · 30/06/2009 04:44

Oooooh Woolly sounds like this is it ... good luck! How are you doing now? Hope there are enough midwives to come out to you.
(I can't sleep ...)

vanimal · 30/06/2009 05:31

Hiya,
Well DD2 has made an early appearance - due on 9th July and popped out on 23rd June instead, weighing in at 5lbs 8oz.

(Gillyan - think my dates are the same as yours?)

Typing one-handed as I BF at the mo, I'll post more details later.

Had a VBAC - am so pleased with myself about thst I feel like shouting it out to everyone

Hope everyone is well
x

BonzoDoodah · 30/06/2009 06:00

glad things are looking better for you queenfee and you've managed to start breastfeedign again, and are healing well gillyan! bonzo at the growth scan i had all the measurements are on the top line of the chart, but not over it, i know you're not an expert but would you think this means big baby?? im having panic thoughts thinking about it!
phoenix we had 2 wet nights with dd at weekend which has happened since she stopped wearing nappies grrrr! the pains up the fanjo area are horrid aren't they. it makes dp laugh when i suddenly double over and cross my legs...especially when out and about ha!

Patchybob · 30/06/2009 08:01

Woollyjo hope its going well....thinking of you xxx

Congratulations Vanimal

justlookatthatbooty · 30/06/2009 08:37

Congrats to all the mamas with their new babes, it's so exciting to see all the birth announcements since the last time I was here. Am so busy running around after my 16 month old dynamo DS and finishing work, hardly a mo for myself. 36+2 today and had scan last week and consultant recommends I book in for an elective C due to size and weight estimate and my previous Csection being due to non engagement of head. Pants to that I say! Am going for my VBAC and if things don't work out I'll have the Csection. I just have the gut (haha!) instinct that there'll be no harm in trying and that things will go easy and natural this time. If it doesn't work out that way, then I can use hospital resources as before. Had a wobble for a few days as was suddenly slightly doubtful, after such a happy confident VBAC preparation pregnancy this time round.
So we'll leave it in the hands of nature and see what happens. Am also hoping she'll make an early appearance, even though I haven't got all the stuff ready etc, as don't want her to grow too much more!
Good luck to you mums who are preparing for your births, natural or surgical. Everyone is doing so well, doing what's best for you and your LO's. Not long now for all of us!
x

Belgrano · 30/06/2009 08:57

Vanimal congrats! Loads of little ones now popping out and it's not even July yet, it's lovely!
And Dannyg good luck for today's attempt at C sec. I think it sounds blardy awful having to wait that long with no food or drink you poor mite. Get ready to be a complainer today and make a fuss to get either your section or at least a blooming drink of water if they say you can't have it.
Me and my whopper baby doing fine apart from hot and uncomfy. DD in nursery today so am going to make some music mixes for the ipod and tidy the spare room. Hope y'all have good days.

BonzoDoodah · 30/06/2009 09:14

lydiatttl - I'm not sure what the percentiles are on the charts we are given. Mine is a customised one based on the last pregnancy and this new baby is way over hte top line. If the lines are at 25 and 75% then it'll just be slightly bigger but if tey are 10 and 90 then it's not so encouraging. Maybe phone your midwife and ask what they mean - or ask at the next appointment. And anyway - someone on the June thread has just delivered a 10lb baby at home with no stitches - so there is hope for us all

justlook at - good on you for going for the VBAC! Just what I want - but I really couldn't argue with the figures ... the size of my bump agrees too so I'm resigned to the CS. Hope you get what you want though.

Beccabump · 30/06/2009 09:49

Congratulations vanimal well done on your vbac!

Good luck today dannyg and hope all is going well woolyjo

Off to the hospital today for my hopefully last growth scan - I'm 37+5 so I really can't see how they can make me have another after today!!

Should be seeing another different consultant who will hopefully be more pro-homebirth than the last (who if you remember didn't even bother to see me but sent a message through the midwife!!).

Lots of Braxtons, (TMI ALERT) who else mentioned the upset tummy? I seem to have to go at least once a day with quite an upset stomach - could this be the 'clearing' out for the end of pregnancy I've heard of? I never had it with DD as was constipated till during labour when they thoughtfully gave me an enema - yuck!

Oh, and yes, I too get the knitting needle pain - most embarrassing being doubled up over the freezer in Morrisons the other day a little old lady asked if I was in labour - what am I supposed to say? 'no love the baby's just head butting my cervix!!'??

Hope we all stay cool today xxx

Phoenix · 30/06/2009 10:17

Fingers crossed for today dannyg

Congratulations vanimal (i'll do the list later)

Hope you're holding your baby now Woollyjo

ilikeyoursleeves · 30/06/2009 15:11

Wow where did all these babies come from! I've not been online for a few days so it's great to see all these birth announcements, huge congrats to all the new mummies!

Becca I seem to be having an on and off upset tummy too, I'd wondered if that was an early sign of labour too? I'm feeling like crap otherwise too, I have hayfever (took one piriton the other day but felt so drowsy), a cold I have caught off DS, piles, a massive bump, and constant sweatiness cos of the heat. I am sooooooooo tired and despite going to bed early and having naps, I'm still gubbed.

Rant over!

Well it's been a long day but I'm finally able to sit down at the PC!!

Saw the sonographer and consultant today and aaaargh I'm being induced on Friday at 38+1!!!!!!!!!

Baby's growth has gone up a lot since two weeks ago - abdomen from 50th to 99th percentile. Head 50th percentile, legs 80th so he's a biggun already! They wouldn't talk weight - I think they didn't want to scare me.

Consultant was very insistent on induction even after I told him about how rough I had it with DD, but after being given a bit of time by him I realised that it really is better because they can see clear evidence that the GD is really affecting baby. He already has a little wall of fat around his tummy which is a key indicator that he is taking in lots of my sugar despite my levels being well controlled. Apparently some babies are just like that. So, I feel better that I have a good medical reason this time for induction (it was SPD with DD) and I'm not just bad at getting myself into labour. They also assured me that it would most likely be much faster this time around and they won't be hanging around with getting me going.

DH can stay with me on labour suite which is great as the hospital is so far from home. MIL is coming Thursday night to take us in and out of hospital and also to stay over with DD at home so she has constant care for the weekend.

Labour suites are really nice, they gave me a quick guided tour today as I'd never been there before. Huge rooms with private bathrooms and showers. Two massive birth pool rooms too. Each room is set out in a bedroom style with all the medical equipment behind fitted cabinets. In the event of a CS or EMCS the theatre is right next door and dedicated to labour. Midwives were really friendly and very happy that I had the induction before with just the gas and air. They said if I did it once I can definately do it again as I'll know what to expect this time.

I have to ring at 6.30am on Friday to make sure I can go in and then they will want me to be there for about 8am - aaargh too early!! I will have half an hour of monitoring, then hopefully the gel straight away. I have to lie down for half an hour after the gel but can then walk around as much as I want around the hospital to get the contractions going! They did say if I was at all dilated they wouldn't bother with the gel and go straight for ARM - hmmmm!

Had a manic day since then with driving back, picking DD up, getting hubby from work etc but will have to take it easy for the next two days - who knows when I will get the chance again!

Hubby been very good, has already booked Friday off and told them to start paternity leave from Monday, but he has also decided now to take Thursday off to so we can both have lots of time with DD as we have not been away from her at the same time before!

So, that's my day! Hope all the ladies labouring today are doing well and we might even have some babies by now!

xxx

QueenFee · 30/06/2009 20:36

Congrats vanimal well done on your VBAC
Wooley hope things are going well for you
danny hoping that as we haven't heard yet this eve that you have had your c-section and all is well.
becca hope your induction goes well this time and that you and bubs get over the GD

DH has been a star today. He worked from home and insisted I put my (very very swollen) feet up. He made tea did the nursery run with DS and has generally been a star!
One more sleep I am sooo excited

Another one here!

Caitlin born at home in pool yesterday, 2.05pm, 7lbs 1oz, currently typing two-handed as she's nursing in the Kari-me .

Tens machine did the trick again, feeling extremely lucky and little embarrassed that I've had two births that went entirely to plan , particularly when other people are having theirs mucked about with. Please don't throw tomatoes.

Also managed to get away with no stitches this time, although have got grazes both sides that I had to be careful not to wee over cos it bloody stings!! After pains much stronger this time - having had a drug-free birth I'm now throwing cocodemol down my neck like sweets . Also feeling very bruised around the tummy - she came out in only about 10 pushes but boy were those contractions big, don't remember it feeling like that last time. DD2 came out covered in vernix - I mean literally looked like she's been greased up ready to swim the channel.

DD1 met her when she was only a minute old, but was a little freaked by her appearance, as was I TBH! But has been incredibly sweet with her ever since, wants lots of cuddles and kisses, is very gentle with her, but did have to explain that even though she's a big 3 year old she's not quite ready to carry her down the stairs .

Thinking of everyone booked for CS and having their plans changed by events at the last minute .

Phoenix · 30/06/2009 20:50

Congratulations Mij. Pleased you had a nice 'easy' birth
