Hello all! Thought I would start this off as our existing thread is full!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bethoo · 16/06/2009 10:33

Viv she seems a bit inconsiderate presuming everyones baby making plans should be kept on hold for her benefit!
i am bridesmaid for my sister in August and had to tell her that chances are i will not fit into the dress so now there is a paid for dress they will not alter so anyone want a black bridesmaid dress?? would do for balls etc

they do not do nuchal scans here either, we just get the blood test with our details eg age and it comes back with a ratio of your risk i was something like 1 in 4200.

went clubbing on sat wearing as mini skirt and tight top but wore my jacket over as felt bloated and tired! we went home early as i was just sat in the corner!

me and dp are sorted now, he was in tears telling me how much he loved me and i reminded him that the next time he gets arsey over exes i do not even communicate with i will be gone and no way will i be coming back. i think he got the message when he came back rather humbled with his tail between his legs! i love him but sometimes i just get so annoyed with the shit he comes out with. i t does not help that i lived alone for years so can get used to it again quite easily.

i have my booking in app tomorrow and i will be 10 +6 weeks.

hope all is well with everyone.

bethoo · 16/06/2009 10:34

Viv and if you are immune to chicken pox as you have had it before you should be fine but just give your gp a call just to confirm. saying that i had chicken pox twice , once when i was very young then again at 15.

VivClicquot · 16/06/2009 10:50

Bethboo - nah, she was very much only joking, as I am the 5th in my circle of friends to fall pg in a matter of months and it's been a long standing joke that there mst be something in the air! I think she fell of her chair when I told her!

timmette · 16/06/2009 11:15

Hi everyone are we ok today?
Well I have a bump - it appeared on Monday at the weekend pil were here and said I looked the same as before I was pregnant and by Monday I had grown - yikes.
Am throwing up mainly in the evening still. Also have a cold and getting no sympathy from dh - .
Well have just given in and made a very spicy curry it's bubbling away as we speak - I just hope it stays down lol - I know it's early but needs must.

somewhathorrified · 16/06/2009 11:48

Sorry to constantly ask questions, but I'm a tad confused. Is the 12 week scan the Nuchal scan? I'm not being tested for Down's in anyway (my choice) so when's my first scan due? Tbh the only reason I want a scan is to reassure myself that I am actually properly pregnant. Still in denial

bethoo · 16/06/2009 12:28

nuchal scan is not the 12 weeks scan as some 12 week is more of a dating scan and some hospitals incl nuchal measuring as part of it but mostly it is private.

i have pretty much lost all symptoms of pregnancy, feel ok so dont know if should be worried yet i will be 11 weeks on thursday!

Biccy · 16/06/2009 13:22

Hi all
Re chicken pox, I think if you have it mildly, then there there is chance you can get it again. But, the thing with chicken pox is you have to have contact with bodily fluids to catch it, so if you avoid physical contact with the baby that would be safest. But you'd obviously have to tell your friend, who may feel uncomfortable, in a 'what if, and it's our fault' kind of way. I agree on checking with GP though.

bethoo I think you can expect your symptons to be going by 10 to 11 weeks - as this is when your levels of hCG start to drop.

bethoo · 16/06/2009 13:27

thanks, you would think i would know by now but every pregnancy is different!

VivClicquot · 16/06/2009 13:45

So I'm back from the scan and it's a bit to be honest. As you know, we went for the first one exactly two weeks ago today, thinking we were approx 7 weeks - however, the dating scan put me at 5 and a half, but as they could only see a sac and a yolk (no fetal pole and no baby), they advised me to come back two weeks later.

Two weeks on, and the good news from today's scan is there is a definite baby with a definite heartbeat. However, it's not progressed as much as the sonographer would have expected and she's only put me today at 6+4.

She was quite honest and said there is a slight concern that I've not progressed as much as I should - for example, the date of my last period should have me at 9 weeks; the clear blue digital I did three weeks ago put me at 5 weeks, and yet I'm still only 6+4.

BUT, as she told me, I have to focus on the fact that there is a baby and there is a heartbeat. So lots of positive thinking my way please - I really hope it's just a quirk, rather than a sign that something is wrong.

Oh - and it puts my EDD as 7th Feb. Can I still stay on this thread though please?

bethoo · 16/06/2009 13:54

i hope that it all works out so sending positive vibes your way and do stay.

timmette · 16/06/2009 14:02

Hi Vivcliquot keeping fingers crossed for you. Yes stay on the thread I will probably deliver in December and am staying put as everyone is so lovely here. Have they scheduled you for another scan to monitor growth?

Southwestwhippet · 16/06/2009 14:09

Hello,

just adding myself to the list. Due Jan 18th. First baby - very exciting, quite scarey LOL

Haven't had too bad symptoms yet, some nausea and finally the boobs of my dreams .

I'm sure I will be here lots looking for information and panicing about everything.

Pepa · 16/06/2009 14:31

alibobins and timmette another one here for a scan on the 25th June, plus I'll be having the 1st lot of blood work for the triple test. Mine scan is at 1pm but given the time difference you'll all be tucking into dinner when I'm getting a peek at my litle pip squeak.

VivClicquot · 16/06/2009 14:34

timmette no, all she said was to sit tight, think positive and see what happens at the 12 week scan. I've got my appointment with the midwife on Tuesday, so the sonographer has written a letter for me to give to her with the details of the two scans to date - fingers crossed I might be able to push for an earlier 12 wk scan on the back of this, but it's a simple case of wait and see.

timmette · 16/06/2009 14:39

Hi Pepa scan is late afternoon I am also not in the UK - and have had my bloods taken for the triple test already - so all organised.
Welcome southwesternwhippet. Vivclicquot I would push for an earlier scan but I lack any sort of patience - good luck.

somewhathorrified · 16/06/2009 14:57

cheers bethoo I get it now.

dal21 · 16/06/2009 18:07

Hi everyone.

Hope everyone is ok.

WelcomE southwest whippet. Congrats on your BFP!

Vivcliquot - hope you are feeling ok. I dont know anything about your scenario - so nothing I can add - but all fingers and toes are crossed for you. When is your 12 week scan booked? And please stay on this thread! EDD means nothing! DS EDD was 28/09, he arrived on the 7th!

Re. the scans, I am going for the whole shebang on the 13th July. Blood tests, nuchal fold etc. At times the 13th seems an age away but then I think I knew I was pregnant at 3+2 and am already 8+4. It'll come round before I know it.(I keep telling myself that!)

I had a fab day today! Two of my fellow mnetters from the sept 07 antenatal thread came round for lunch with their LO's! We had so much fun - it really is bizarre how some people can become good friends from online forums. Am shattered now though as no midday nap for me today. And next two days at work are crazy.

Talking about work - Crumpette - is all going ok?

OP posts:
crumpette · 16/06/2009 18:57

Hello hello

So today I had my booking appointment which somehow lasted from 4pm until 6.25...? OK I wasn't in here the whole time and I was sent to the hospital after going to the midwifery centre because they were short-staffed, but still!

It was OK,nothing too traumatising other than them needing 4 attempts to take my blood, and also having the apointment in a gynae room and turning around to see a giant poster of many differently revolting cervixes.
aaaagh

dal21 thanks for asking about work, still in the emails but only work I think, I deliberately left a lot of stuff on there concerning the relevant legislation so I doubt they will go into my private email again as they know that I know, if that makes sense. They are being really funny though, lots of glares and I got a real b*ng for leaving early this afternoon (with a different excuse) but still I gave them a week's notice and there was no need for their reaction.

Anyway, sorry for the vent! My scan is on the 25th as well. I am apparently now 10+6wks according to the hospital today, I don't know if that makes my edd different feeling too tired and hungry to work it out!

Re the nuchal scan it is routine in my area, but I think in some you do still have to pay privately. It has to be between 11 and 13+6 weeks.

alibobins · 16/06/2009 19:31

So many scans on the 25th
I'm 11+4 and slowly feeling more human.
Stll exhusted and feeling a bit sicky haven't been able to drink tea since I found out seem to be craving anything orange flavoured.

crumpette · 16/06/2009 19:40

mmm orange juice with juicy bits through a straw and lots of buttery crumpets
....

Following on from previous craving posts- I am SO over chip shop chips craving. How bizarre that it is the only thing I eat for a week straight and then nada. I am now fantasizing about sweet and sour chicken (I am a failing vegetarian...)

kittykat765 · 16/06/2009 19:50

Hi everyone. Just updating the list as my due date has changed. According to my scan today I am 10+2 rather than 11+1 as I thought. Had a bit of a panic when the radiographer said she had to get one of her colleagues in to take a look. Then she said that she could see baby and heartbeat so huge relief there. Am very annoyed though as could not get pics as they 'dont do them at this stage' grrr. Am now a bit worried as SIL has been taken in and is being kept overnight at the hospital due to bleeding. She is 33 weeks right now and docs are not concerned apparently. I reckon my nephew/niece will be making a bit of an early arrival though. Anyway, enough rambling from me.

NB. Southwestwhippet, congrats on the BFP. I have added you. And crumpette, if I have worked it out right you should be due on the 6th so have adjusted your details (and updated your name). Hope you dont mind.

Thank you very much kittykat!! I have been sitting here contemplating crumpets and in fact any food, while typing out some ridiculous load of rubbish for DP work- grrr am not his secretary!!
Anyway, thanks- 6th Jan!

Glad that your scan went well, dates are often a bit off as everyone's egg actually gets fertilized at different stages and floats around for different lengths of time, if that makes sense.

Liskey · 16/06/2009 20:31

Hi ladies hope your all keeping ok.

Crumpette your work sound totally unreasonable!

I was worrying to my twin yesterday about not feeling very pregnant and then told her about 1 of the guys in my team eating foul smelling crisps (mccoys spicy i think) and me being a bit sick. Cue much laughter from her and telling me no one who wasn't pregnant would do that. I felt shattered today - had to stay nearly 2 hours extra at work and felt totally drained when I came home.

Sounds really stpid but I've felt convinced today I was going to mc - been getting some cramps and working myself up.

starshaker · 16/06/2009 20:31

well i went to pizza hut tonight and all i wanted/needed was a really yummy goats cheese salad with bacon and caremalised onions lol. It was that good i ordered another as a take away so that is in my fridge and i am trying to resist temptation to go and eat that aswell mmmmmmmm

sleepingalot · 16/06/2009 21:50

bethoo good to hear things are sorted with your DP.

VivClicquot good news about heartbeat. Really hope everything is ok.

Welcome Southwestwhippet

Exciting news about scans. The 25th sounds as though it is going to be a busy day!

Lol at Liskey and smelly crisps...I'm exactly same with smells - only time I've had any nausea!

RANTING NOW: Was really p*ed off today at work. Have had to tell my boss that I'm pregnant because have been to and from assisted conception unit for over a year so had to come clean why I needed time off or was going to be late. BUT told her that I didn't want to tell anyone until the end of wk 12. Went to speak to a colleague today and she said I look rough and that her daughter who is also pregnant is exactly the same...I really didn't know what to say! (Apart from the fact that I didn't think I looked rough!!!) So asked her how she knew and she said I looked rough the other day so she asked boss if I P was AND she told her!!! Most of my friends and family don't even know yet! What annoyed me most tho was the fact she didn't let me know this had happened and I walked right into it. All I could say was please don't tell anyone else...

RANT over... thanks for listening
