Hello all! Thought I would start this off as our existing thread is full!

I haven't posted for a while, but sorry to hear about your loss to Katy and Viv. Hopefully you will be on here with good news sometime soon. I had mc last year and it really is hard.

I had my 12wk scan today and all is well. The little babe (not a bean any longer) was extremely wriggly and waved a lot! So I am very relieved that all ok. Earlier scan had put me a few days ahead but this has put me back to original date of 21st. We just have to get through the nuchal scan on Tues. Well done on all the other happy scans everybody.

quirkychick · 10/07/2009 18:46

Great news coffeeicecream, was wondering how yours went.

evening all - thanks for reassurance that subsidance in symptoms is normal for this stage.
happy scan news those who have been. Our next stage is the nuchal scan on Thurs.

happy weekend

crumpette · 10/07/2009 21:07

lottie!!! 4.5 hours!!!????? Oh my! I am sorry for leading you to believe it's be fast, that's what my sonographer guy said' book your next scan for 9am so you're first and you don't have all the people and the waiting'!!
I cannot believe that. Well, actually I can, I haven't yet booked my next scan there am kind of itching to have a private one which is,er, on time!

Both those heart rates are completely normal, and as they aren't identical twins they will both be biologically slightly different so I am completely sure it will be reassuring when you go back- who knows maybe the old wives tale- one boy one girl?

So I have survived another week at work! Sigh! Already dreading Monday!!
Have a new passion, bagels with cream cheese, choc muffins with a gooey centre, crumpets of course and, wait.. nectarines! I have a nectarine obsession! I have no idea why but I appear to be eating about 6 a day. DP went out to shops yesterday while I was at work and I gave him specific instructions to get nectarines. He came back..with bruised and fuzzy peaches...I am not impressed!
He says peaches are the original nectarine and not genetically modified so they are better---er, no...

sorry, vent over, off to munch...

Viv, so sorry to hear your news, though I am relieved for you that you haven't been faced with an incredibly tough decision. Hope all goes well on Monday. xx

Biccy · 11/07/2009 09:40

Congrats on your successful scan coffeeicecream, that's great news.

Londonlottie - 90 minutes of scanning! Good lord. I suppose it takes longer to get a good view of two babies.... but even so. Wow. I think my scan last week lasted about 2 minutes, and they didn't give me a heart rate, just 'fetal heart action present' on the print out.

Have private nuchal booked for Monday, so just hoping to get through that okay, and then maybe I can start to get excited about this baby... while being nervous about it, I'm also looking forward to getting a bit longer to stare at the baby, presumably on fancier equipment, and hopefully spot that heart beat myself!

Biccy · 11/07/2009 09:44

PS Gave in and got fitted for delightful maternity bras yesterday... why can't they sell pretty ones? I just don't get why being pregnant means you have to be relegated to the plainest boringest of bras in the world ever?! And, they just seem to do nothing for my shape, so, I've got these fab D to DD cup boobs, but they have to look awful. Hrmph. (Perhaps if you spend more than £10 on a bra you can get something nicer?) Still, the wires in my normal bras were really making my boobs hurt.

somewhathorrified · 11/07/2009 09:52

crumpette back out with the honey, lemon and ginger? maybe you should phone in sivk on Monday...you know, just to be on the safe side.

Hvaing a cothing crisis here. Got a funeral to go to on Monday and the only black skirt I own i have to wear up just under my boobs to fit my ever expanding belly in and even then it's a tad tight. I know hubby would insist on taking me clothes shopping if I said anything but I'm just not mentally ready to go visiting maternity sections of the clothes shop.

sockmonkey · 11/07/2009 12:59

SWH I'm at that awkward stage between being able to wear my normal clothes and getting the maternity stuff from my sister. I have 1 pair of jeans left that I can fit into. sigh.

quirkychick · 11/07/2009 14:24

I am wearing my one size too big jeans (that usually need belt to hold up) on my hips and have bought a few one size up tunicky(?)/long tops in sales that I know will be useful in case I don't snap back to pre-pg size after - as if! Have quite a few baggier stuff from before but my bump band is so baggy it just makes me look twice as pg!

Biccy maternity bras are a bit depressing aren't they? I am still in a few underwired ones as I can't remember when you're supposed to stop wearing them. The plainer, stretchier ones are boring but you usually can wear them for longer as they grow with you. Was very depressed when I got out my ones from being pg with dd and how big the ones I wore at the end are!

Liskey · 11/07/2009 14:27

Hey Biccy I went and bought a maternity bra too - on Thursday gone from a 34B to 38D - lady in M&S wouldn't let me wear my old one out! I knew i'd changed as I was bursting out of my swimming costume the other day but didn't realise it would be by some much so quickly! All of my trousers still fit so I was thinking that i wasn't putting weight on - obviously fooling myself.

I went for a private NT scan today as well - all looked well and blood test should be back on Thursday to assess risk. The private scan was a lot nicer than the NHS one - of course your paying for that! But it was lovely telling me the heartbeat 157 bpm - and that everything looked normal, showing my stomach, kidneys etc - it was great.

quirkychick · 11/07/2009 18:47

Oh londonlottie 4.5hrs! I was 3hrs with dating scan as had scan, midwife, doctor, blood test, hospital pharmacy for meds. Dp couldn't believe it! We have private nuchal at 6pm, can't poss be that long??? We have to leave dd with neighbours/friends so hope not too late in the evening!

salvadory · 11/07/2009 19:26

hi everyone,

Just wanted to share the news that Gap have got quite a good sale on today, maternity jeans for £15 and they're really not that hideous, also picked up a pair of work trousers and a couple of nice wrap cotton tops all for under £59! Bargain if you're having to schlep round with the top button of your normal jeans undone (which i have been for the last week )

skidoodle · 11/07/2009 20:00

Hi everybody, it's been a while

So sorry to hear the news of those who've lost their babies. My heart goes out to you all

viv best wishes for a beautiful wedding. It's a wonderful celebration and you both deserve a day of feeling special and together after what you're going through now. Will be thinking if you on Monday.

crumpette I have the nectarine thing too. And no, peaches not the same - too fuzzy and sweet. I still crave fruit but it's making me feel unwell (acid, I think) so mostly eating junk.

Great to hear so much happy scan news. I think these have been a sticky bunch overall. Our scan was just over a week ago and v short as dd not impressed with whole thing. Saw heartbeat and movement, doc trying to get better view but screaming toddler made it too much hassle so I said not to persist. Important things - existence of one heartbeat. Happy with that.

Skidoodle top scan tip: don't bring demanding young child

Otherwise feeling pretty wretched most of the time. 13+4 today, so hoping for respite soon. Still feeling ambivalent but keen to get excited. Nausea and tiredness getting in the way.

Take care all xx

mowmi · 11/07/2009 20:37

Hello ladies,

first of all sorry to all those who've had bad news since I was last on.

Not feeling great at the moment, had lovely 12 weeks scan on friday but we've got a 1 in 9 chance of downs.
I'm really upset - spent most of the day crying.
Booked in for cvs at kings on monday pm.

Knew it was all too good to be true....

x

quirkychick · 11/07/2009 21:18

Oh mowmi good luck for Monday and cvs. I have 2 friends who had amnios and their little ones are fine. I have nuchal tues with blood test so am still waiting to be let of this particular hook.

lilacpink · 11/07/2009 21:45
