Thanks ladies - it's like a bad dream!
Lottie I think they said wed or thurs?
Hope I don't have to make a scene - I will if they try to let a student do it!
Will update you all tomorrow night x

mowmi · 12/07/2009 19:51

I'm having a little boy by the way - it was pretty obvious - i think he might be blessed iykwim!

liny · 12/07/2009 19:55

good luck Mowmi- And crossing fingers for you as this must be scary, but it also means that you have a 88% chance that the baby is absolutely fine. Let us know how you got on!

I had first scan at east surrey hospital and blood tests. NT was 3.9mm and bloods not back until tuesday.
I was in a real state and needed answer before tuesday! Called my old friends at create who told me to get there when I could.
His scan was much more through (that's how I saw the tackle - I said it's a boy isn't it? and he said he wasn't going to tell me but yes it is - you couldn't miss it - like a comedy drawing!) heart and function all good, no signs of bowel problems, and a nasal bone + he got NT to 2.4mm.
My risk still came out as 1 in 54 and he said he wasn't worried based on what he'd seen (he's a very experienced obs) and that he'd call me with the blood results. Came away feeling much better but he called me at the end of the day and said the bloods weren't great especially the PAPP-A and I should go for CVS.
I called east surrey and told them the results and they got me in to Kings for Monday.
I'm so scared - I'm so in love with this little man and I can't bear to think of him as ill or at risk.
Think I'm going to want to keep him no matter what but I'm absolutely terrified about what that might mean - DH is frightened too but I think he's at the same place as me except he's a bit more positive.
We were out yesterday and I saw a beautiful knitted rabbit in white company and I didn't buy it...I woke up today feeling really distressed that I didn't have more faith in me and this baby... difficult to explain??! I went out today and bought a little miffy soft rattle - if all goes wrong it will go in the memory box with all the beautiful scan pictures.

I'm crying again....sorry x

mowmi · 12/07/2009 21:16

thanks ladies, I'm so up and down at the moment. There are lots of positive stories out there but that alone sometimes upsets me - someone has to be the 1 in 9! I'm scared it's going to be us.

Will post tomorrow when it's all done. Thanks again x

maygirl · 12/07/2009 22:09

Good luck for tomorrow Mowmi

Biccy · 12/07/2009 22:31

ILoveDolly · 13/07/2009 12:39

Best wishes mowmi

Going for my first scan today. Why am i nervous? It's my second baby. But I really am. I am completely huge already and wearing maternity jeans. Yet I keep having dreams about not being pregnant. A bit upsetting and bizarre.

jardins · 13/07/2009 13:10

Hello everbody, I've just had my 12 week scan today and everything was looking great so I can finally allow myself the pleasure of joining this thread. Yippee! This is my fourth pregnancy, including a mc in March, and I am forty. My due date is 23 January. Nuchal skin fold was spot on, the doctor says. My risk factor is 1/344, which is pretty good considering my age! Now I am mulling over the amiocentisis question. The doctor siad here in France 1 in 200 fetuses are lost after the test. He said I should weigh this up with my 1/344 risk. Food for thought.

Anyway I'm so relieved!!!!!

sockmonkey · 13/07/2009 13:36

Hey mowmi...hope all goes well today. Been thinking of you.

Jardins - you sound very excited

sazlocks · 13/07/2009 13:46

mowmi wondering how you are getting on today.
well done Jardins and good luck ilovedolly

Just been to have the bloods done for our nuchal scan on Thurs. Will be glad to get it out of the way as a bit worried about how its going to go.

totalmisfit · 13/07/2009 14:12

mowmi that's really rough. hope everything goes ok for you. how worrying.

jardins congratulations on your scan, and to everyone else who's had good news recently. Hugs to those who haven't.

Just got back from my 12 week scan. Everything appears to be fine - baby very baby-like, whereas dd (3.4) looked a little alien-like on her 12 week scan, bless her.

I asked if they could tell me the sex but they said it was too early and to wait for the 20 week scan.

This one seems almost too laid back, just sort of laying there chilling, and occasionally waving or rolling over, which is apparently normal. Measures 65 mm and they reckon i'm a few days further along than i thought:12+5 rather than 12+1. So i have a new due date of 20th Jan. I'll update in a minute.

totalmisfit · 13/07/2009 14:27

now ive updated i'm no longer on the most popular due date - boohoo! Quirkychick, our details are starting to look spookily similar now i'm due the day before you - you're not me, are you?

crumpette i've also been after cream cheese (esp Philadelphia) and nectarines. My dh also tried to convert me to peaches, which he far prefers - what's up with these blokes?

Hello!

Mowmi - hope today goes ok for you!

I also have had my scan today! All was fantastic. Little bean was wriggling away!
Nuchal measurement fine and first set of bloods done. Am back in a few weeks to get my second lot done.

I asked about finding out the sex and my doc said that at 13 weeks it was possible to tell the sex but that it would only be 70% accurate. Little bean then would not get into the right position for him to take a look. But dont care. All the important stuff was seen and ok.

Am so very relieved and excited!! Great to see all the other scan news today!

Biccy · 13/07/2009 19:46

Hi all.

Mowmi, hope today was ok.

Had my private nuchal scan today and it was lovely to get a really good look at the baby, who was very well behaved, lying in just the right position, and flipping his/her back up in, apparently, a very helpful way... couldn't believe I could see fingers, and little mouth opening and closing, and bladder filling up. Amazing. And was given about 30 pictures! Am going to study tonight to see if I can spot a nub...

Also a relief, as I have been fortunate enough to be given a very low risk factor (1:8700).

Congrats to jardins and totalmisfit on good scans - and hope it went well today ilovedolly.

We decided to tell dd this evening, and she was very very excited, which was lovely. Although of course she wants the baby NOW! Bit worried that the reality of life with a baby brother or sister won't quite live up to her expectations.... and she's determined it's to be a girl 'just like me'. Hmm.

Right, off to babysit for someone, so best go...

Biccy · 13/07/2009 19:46

Ooh, oops, congrats to you too dal21. Great news!

sunshinejanuary · 13/07/2009 19:51

Hi All,

I went away for the weekend so havent been able to keep up with all you lovely ladies!

Congrats to all those who have had scans and Mowmi I really hope today was positive.

I don't know if anecdotal evidence makes you feel any better but i know someone who was given a 50/50 chance of having a Down's baby and he turned out not to have it.

We will all be here no matter what...

As for myself, 15 weeks and still feeling really sick, the books lie about 'you will feel great in the second trimester blah blah'!

Still, it makes me feel pretty positive the little monkey is still in there!

mowmi · 13/07/2009 21:22

Thanks for all you best wishes. Just got back, all went ok - results back in 3 to 5 days...waiting is going to be tough.

Off to bed now x

At 6-8pm I'm so exhausted I struggle to keep my eyes open, but now it's past 11pm and I feel like I could run a marathon. Anyone else experiencing weird 'body-rhythms'?

I'm completely 'out' at work now as my bump has popped right out below my boobs to pubic bone. I've also had feelings as though I have a tiny mouse rolling about bit above my pubic bone, about 2-4cm inwards. I didn't feel DD until 17 weeks, but I'm fairly sure it is DC2, as I notice it mainly in the shower and when I've been still for awhile (same when I had DD). Anyone else or am I mad?

Best of luck for all results and scans taking place this week
