Hello all! Thought I would start this off as our existing thread is full!

bethoo · 02/07/2009 12:21

somewhathorrified if your bloods are ok they will not contact you, just stick the results in your case notes when you have your next appointment.
anniemac mw will not check for hb until 16 weeks as still hard to locate in early stages and would cause unneccesary worry if it was not found.
i told a friend today i was pregnant and the first thing she said was .....her it comes.....''was it planned?''

Skedaddle · 02/07/2009 12:37

Hello - am a late arrival on this thread!

I think my due date is 27/01/10 and this will be my 3rd!

I have a ds10 and a dd6, so it's been a while. I think I've forgotten everything about pregnancy (which may be a good thing!)

bethoo · 02/07/2009 13:47

hi Skedaddle i think i saw you on a different thread yesterday. how are you? may be a good thing that you have forgotten about pregnancy as my last labour was only 8 months ago and still raw in my mind!

Skedaddle · 02/07/2009 13:57

8 months! That's fantastic!

You did - you mentioned this thread so I thought I'd pop over and have a look. Will have a read through at the weekend to catch up with things. At the moment am lying in front of the fan and plan to stay here til it's time for the school run

somewhathorrified · 02/07/2009 14:47

bethoo my MW said to make an appt with her for the blood results, she said it was unnecessary and normally wouldn't see me til 26ish weeks, but it would be good to see me just to check how things are going.

verycherry · 02/07/2009 14:55

Hi all, have been reading for weeks but too nervous to join following m/c in feb. However had scan this morning and all good, am 12+5 due 9/01/10.

This will be my 4th baby, have 3 ds's aged 15, 13 and 22 months am sure I will probably have another boy - although did have to scrutinise angulation in scan pic.....

Dizzyclarebear · 02/07/2009 15:10

anniemac, you're probably right. It just seems odd to be expected to discuss stuff that is really very personal with someone I don't know that well - esp as we've only ever been rather formal and business like every other time we've talked...

New ladies - welcome!!!

Somewhathorrified - I'd chase up about your scan, you could have just fallen between the cracks in the admin... (and you don't want to be send a date/time on short notice and find you can't actually do it)

totalmisfit · 02/07/2009 16:10

Welcome VeryCherry, glad your scan went so well, you must be relieved and excited.

I saw a midwife today (not my usual one) and mentioned that I was feeling nervous about my scan which is coming up in a week and a half. She looked genuinely puzzled, and a bit blank, and asked why. I said 'well, i think everyone worries about scans, don't they? its' the first time i'm going to see my baby!' and she looked at me like i'd just got off a spaceship.

No doubt she'll be the midwife i get during my homebirth - 'what do you mean these contractions hurt ?'

bethoo · 02/07/2009 16:13

somewhathorrified that is so strange, it seems that they see you at your first booking in then leave you to it til the baby is due! where i am they see you at 10-12, 16,24,28,31,34,36,38,40, and 41 weeks pregnant! and each time after the initial booking in you get blood pressured, fundal measured/felt and listen for hb and general chat, reassurances etc.

liny · 02/07/2009 17:29

hello,

Yes same where I am ,Bethoo, I have my second mw appointment in 3 weeks.
I'm in Nottingham, and here I just got a letter telling me to call the hospital and book the scan myself..

I have been swimming today, which was hard work after stopping for 3 months... so hoping to build a bit more stamina every week. I probably will do the aquanatal classes a bit later on (I don't feel big enough! ;-))
I also have serious clothes problem...mainly my trousers or skirts which don't fit anymore..so I have one preg summer short from my sister and this is it... I need to go shopping! ;-) anymore places doing sales?

congrats to all scans, and don't worry totalmisfit, I did not sleep well before my scan, I was convinced there would be something wrong...I'm a worrier type so I'll feel the same again before the 20 weeks one...

dal21 · 02/07/2009 18:08

Hi everyone!

Welcome to all the newcomers! Congrats!

So lovely to hear all the positive scan stories aswell. Congrats to all who have seen their little beans!

Exercise??? Not a chance! Between work, looking after DS and housework - zero energy to do anything else! I stopped running when was pregnant with DS. After he was born, I actually got my fitness back really quickly, so am not going to worry about it this time round!

Anniemac - I know how you feel! I am 11 weeks tomorrow and only 11 days to go till my scan. It really cannot come fast enough.

Crumpette, they cannot change your salary without consultation. Unless is some element of your package commission/ bonus based?

Hello to everyone else!

re: heartbeat - i've been using the doppler i got when pregnant with DS (paranoid i'd have another miscarriage so spent the ONE HUNDRED POUNDS and frankly it was worth it) - and i've been hearing a heartbeat since 10 weeks exactly. (didn't try before but have been since then). it's harder to locate than DS's, of course, but if i move the thing around i can always hear it in the end. it's a great relief.

scan next wednesday. counting the days!

sunshinejanuary · 02/07/2009 19:59

Hello Skadaddle and Very Cherry. I was like you Cherry, reading but co-uldn't quite join in, just in case!
I totally get where you are coming from totalmisfit, i was really worried, even once i saw my baby i was worried until i saw it move!
I hope everyone has had a good day. I am still feeling sick everyday, though i wasnt sick today. I am 13+4 and REALLY hoping it wears off soon. Then i will be able to worry about why i am no longer feeling sick no doubt, he he.

noodleone · 02/07/2009 20:15

Hi all, sorry I'm a late joiner, it only just crossed my mind that there would be an antenatal club, only discovered mumsnet after the birth last time so didn't get to do all of this.

This will be my 2nd, have 1 ds who is nearly 2. I've got my scan on Monday, due on 19/01/10. Can't wait to see my baby! Still feeling very sick, much worse than last time. Hope everyone is not suffering too much in the heat. N

maygirl · 02/07/2009 20:25

Hi everyone
We've still got over 2 weeks until my scan, seems ages away. I'm hoping to get my doppler back off a friend next week, hope will be able to hear a hb, will be 11 weeks.

The midwife did listen for a hb by doppler at 12 weeks with my DS, but warned me we'd be unlikely to detect it, so not to panic, but we did hear it loud and clear!

Had a lovely day, 4th wedding anniversary, DH and I took day off work so could go out for a posh lunch whilst DS at nursery. Ate so much I've not been able to eat anything for dinner! Had a pedicure afterwards so I'm feeling very indulgent and pampered!

lilacpink · 02/07/2009 20:56

Hi All,
one of my DH's friends came over earlier, said congrats on the good news and "I thought I saw a bump last week, but thought you may have just overeaten" I haven't put any weight on, but have been in my biggest clothes/mat clothes, and thought I'd get away with it for awhile yet.

I almost passed out in library today, combination of getting over gastroenteritis and the heat. Thank goodness it's getting a bit cooler now

Anyone spot in the news tonight - preg women will be entitled to Swine Flu vaccine as a priority group!

VivClicquot · 02/07/2009 21:35

Hi everyone

Not so good news from me I'm afraid - went for our scan this afternoon and my fear that the baby wasn't progressing as it should was pretty much spot on. Today's scan dated me at 7 weeks, despite being 6+4 three weeks ago and 5 weeks three weeks before that - strangely, there appeared to be a very faint heartbeat so the embryo may still 'alive' but the fact that it's just not growing as it should means it's likely I will miscarry eventually. So, if things don't happen naturally in the next seven days, I have to go back next Thursday and we'll take things from there.

As you know, I'd always had a feeling that something wasn't quite right but had been keeping everything crossed and was praying it was just my first-time mum paranoia. Still doesn't make it any easier though, and there have been lots of tears from me and DP, and also my mum and dad.

Really sorry to bring the thread down - I promise I'll pop in from time to time and check up on you all, and let you know how my wedding goes. Do keep me on the list - I've been a proud member of the Jan 2010 club.

Lots of love and good luck
Katy x

lilacpink · 02/07/2009 22:04

Katy, I'm really sorry for your news. I think back in Oct I knew things were going wrong for me, but finding out and healing takes tears and time. I hope your wedding is a truely beautiful day and that in the near future you will be on another thread too, but pop back to say how your wedding goes!

zen1980 · 02/07/2009 22:07

So sorry to hear your news, make sure you and dh look after each other xxx

maygirl · 02/07/2009 23:50

I'm really sorry Katy

timmette · 03/07/2009 06:19

So sorry to hear your news Katy.

timmette · 03/07/2009 06:21

lilacpink I have also not gained any weight but have a noticeable bump and look geneerally rounder too.

Anway just wanted to say bye for now I am going on holiday tomorrow morning at some god awful hour - so won't have any internet for quite a while.
I hope everything goes well for everyone and that all the babies are glued in with superglue.

dal21 · 03/07/2009 07:22

Oh Katy. So very sorry to hear your news. . Look after yourself. Hope the wedding is amazing!

Maygirl - your day with DH sounds heavenly. I would love to have a day at home/ out shopping etc without DS. But I dont have the heart to put him in nursery when I am at home. Although I have taken the day off work when I have my scan - so fingers crossed that goes well - I will have a good few hours to myself in the afternoon.

Lilac - I have gained weight and the baggy tops have definitely given it away (along with the mahoosive boobs) - I have been outed by two colleagues I sit with. But one of them is only 4 weeks behind me! They basically said no one would be surprised when I announce it, it has been obvious for a good few weeks. Less pies methinks.

Ampster - which doppler so you have? Am very tempted to buy one myself, but they think I need to wait until the scan on the 13th.

Noodle - welcome! I too am still feeling nauseous. It has gotten worse in the last few days and have woken with it today.

Timmette have a lovely holiday!

Hope everyone else is ok.
