Hello all! Thought I would start this off as our existing thread is full!

Just went in the loft and got out my old maternity trousers... feel, and look, soooo much better that I have just placed orders for some clothes (all with excellent Mumsnet discounts). Actually think I look less pregnant in these maternity trousers than anything I've worn for the last 10 days. I'm sure I wasn't popping out of my clothes this early last time. Are other second timers finding this?

timmette · 19/06/2009 14:42

Yes Biccy this is the second time for me and I gave into maternity clothes at 10 weeks I have gained so far at almost 12 weeks 1 kilo but none of my clothes fitted and are tight - I look much better in maternity clothes and am so much happier.

sleepingalot · 19/06/2009 16:22

Esme so sorry to hear. Thoughts are with you. Sending you a big hug.

verytiredmummy · 19/06/2009 16:27

Hello ladies

Can I join you? I'm 9 wks with second baby and due on Jan 20th - I'll add myself to the list.

Sorry to those of you who have lost their little ones.

I've got my nuchal scan on July 13th (at Kings as well) and booking in on July 6th.

I have to admit, I feel terrible! Absolutely knackered and terribly nauseous (although have only been sick once). I feel much, much worse than I did last time and am beginning to think maybe this baby is a girl (already have a little boy). Also, I've got full-on acne, which I definitely didn't have last time.

My jeans are very tight already and I do think I've got a bump sometimes; caught my boss eyeing my tummy suspiciously the other day. Might have to give in to maternity clothes soon too.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Anything good planned?

Biccy · 19/06/2009 18:58

Hello and welcome verytiredmummy. Sorry you're feeling so rough... I suppose it should only last another couple of weeks or so?

DP seems to think I am going to creosote the new front garden fence this weekend...I meanwhile am not sure I am ready to spend a day in a chemical filter ventilation mask thingy. I did this last time I was pg, painting our new windows and varnishing our floors, but I was further along than I am now. Don't think I could cope with the suffocation feeling of the mask just yet. Although, I suspect all my floor staining and varnishing helped with optimum foetal positioning...

Anyway, on Sunday we are going to a family christening, so should be let off the DIY!

crumpette · 19/06/2009 18:59

Esme I am terribly sorry to hear your news just seems so unfair and random. Hugs

crumpette · 19/06/2009 19:06

lottie glad the appointment was not as traumatising as mine!! well done

somewhathorrified laughing at your comments about jogging bottoms....er... I am sporting some rather enormous and stretchy ones at this very moment!

biccy and timmette it's no 2 for me and I am so definitely larger than before. I don't always have a bump- but then every so often I have quite a giant one. Have already gained..eeek.. about 4 or 5kg . Wore maternity jeans only once so far- but have a long journey tomorrow so I am dreaming of maternity clothes...

verytiredmummy welcome!

Oh and re the MS= girl/boy thing. I had NONE with DD.. and she was a girl, of course.

I also had major cravings for orange juice, which I have now as well, but I was told that's a 'boy thing' .. apparently not!

crumpette · 19/06/2009 19:10

DP watching sky news which just featured a 'hungry chipmunk that cannot stop eating' - he said that aside from the fur there is no difference between the chipmunk and me!

!!!!!

Alas, true though. Had a large terrifying meeting today in board room at work. I had to sit at the end (ie the head) of the very large board room table. I felt like Alan Sugar. I only had to sit there as everyone else had jumped into the other seats first..grr.. and lunch was provided.. and for the whole hour and a half I sat there eating everything I could reach, and then after the meeting I made off with the grapes, vine leaves and a couple of m&s mini sandwiches...

My manager looked a bit surprised as I always used to skip lunch!!

ooops....

Oh lottie, I know just how scary that is. So pleased to hear they're ok. I tried to tell myself (for the 12 days of light bleeding I had) that as long as my LO was in it's sac it's directly connected to me and the bleeding is outside that, probably not the placenta in which case it won't harm them. I tried to visualise the fallopian tube as our bond, really strong and healthy and the sac was the piece of me giving them a hug... I know, soppy. Anyway, that usually managed to calm me down enough so I could get some sleep. Hope you are resting this evening- hang on in there, I'm sure it'll be fine.x

singalongamumum · 19/06/2009 19:49

Esme- sending love and hugs your way. So sorry.

bethoo · 19/06/2009 20:44

eveing ladies, i spoke too soon as ms seems to hae returned though i have not been sick i just feel it! could it be a boy

sazlocks · 19/06/2009 21:03

esme sorry to hear your news

londonlottie sorry to hear your news, glad you got seen quickly and everything seems ok

biccy, timmette and crumpette - number 2 for me as well and am aleady (at 8 ish weeks) in maternity trousers

Still feeling nausea all day and am sick most days too - nice ! and am convinced its a girl as had no MS with DS. Snuck out of work today to a pub to eat veggie sausages, mash, peas and onion gravy - YUM YUM. It hit the spot for about an hour and then I felt sick for the rest of the day

We are off to a party this Sat which I am looking forward to even though I might only manage a couple of hours and will need to wear a marquee to hide my huge tum tums
happy weekend everyone

Southwestwhippet · 19/06/2009 21:15

Esme - so sorry to read your news. The same thing happened to my mum when she was pregnant with her 4th. The doctors thought it was because she was still breastfeeding no3. Look after yourself.

I'm not having a dating scan, just the 20week one. I couldn't initially see the relavance of the early one as a termination isn't an option but now I'm reading this thread I'm worrying a bit. My friend has one of those heartbeat thingies so maybe I will borrow it.

In other news, I threw up so violently this morning I actually saw stars.

maygirl · 19/06/2009 22:08

Sorry to hear your sad news esme.

maygirl · 19/06/2009 22:11

Glad everything looks ok londonlottie

I've been getting cramps every so often, but had the same with DS, so trying not to worry about it. Luckily kept a daily diary while pregant with him, listing all symptoms, feelings, weekly weight gain, and comments people made! Its quite reassuring to read now.

Have leant all maternity clothes to a mate, must get back soon as today had to fasten skirt with a hair band with a boob tube from slim days over the top to hide the gap!
Got a party tomorrow night and there is absolutely nothing in wardrobe that fits.

Biccy · 19/06/2009 22:15

Thank you everyone for reassuring words on the faster expansion of the tummy 2nd time around. Am no longer feeling like a freak. I had heard you got bigger more quickly, but I just didn't realise how quickly that meant! Is it that your muscles are not as tight as they were first time round, and/or that they 'remember' what they're supposed to do and just, let go?

lottie that sounds like a very scarey day. Glad things are okay.

Biccy · 19/06/2009 22:16

Actually, on the whole tummy muscle thing, I am already finding it uncomfy in the tummy department to cough or sneeze, and I don't think that happened til later last time either...

bethoo · 19/06/2009 22:21

Biccy when you have your first preg your muscles are firm and tight and then when you get pregnant for the second time youir muscles are not as tight. obviously loose and they have a memory of what to do iykwim so as soon as the baby starts to grow the tummy remembers and whereas the first time the tummy was tight the baby was kept in with a tight bump and so the second time round the baby can pop straight out. god help me on number 3!! apparatnly the fat stores have been remembered so i may end up massive!

sleepingalot · 20/06/2009 08:46

Sounds as though you had a realy scary day yesterday londonlottie, hope things are more settled today and the positve scan has given you some reassurance. Did they give you any explanation for the bleeding and cramps?
Sending positive vibes your way.

Welcome verytiredmummy

Off to ikea now...heard their cafe is very good...may have to stop for brunch! Have a good day everyone

One of my cats is considerately trying to prepare me for the lack of sleep later, so I'm shattered today. Typically I have gig to go to tonight. Joy, fat and tired and having to be sociable!

biccy I find coughing and sneezing if I'm lying down flat gives me chronic stab in the abdomen. If I know I'm going to I have to curl up in a ball first, makes it way less painful.

mowmi · 20/06/2009 11:56

Lottie - glad things have calmed down for you.
Nothing exciting with me...we too have an empty fridge, Just had a can of low fat rice pudding for my breakfast.
Feeling very fat and dumpy... I'm a good size 16 and I don't have a flat stomach but usually I can hold it to give the illusion of one, well I used to - muscles don't seem to want to work anymore - I just know I'm going to just look fatter not pregnant (actually can't believe I'm typing this given the trauma we've been through to get here - ungrateful cow aren't I?!!) Not going to moan again.
Hope everyone else is well x
