Hello all! Thought I would start this off as our existing thread is full!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kittykat765 · 19/06/2009 09:20

Well it's really odd because mine and dh's family just assumed that we wouldn't. I wanted to find out but not tell anybody. Dh wanted to find out (but then I know he'd tell everybody). He has thought about it though and decided that he doesn't want to know. But I am still leaning towards finding out at the 20 week scan. He wont be going anyway so just have to figure out if I could keep it a secret.

I take it you are having the same symptoms as last time then? It would be quite interesting to find out what symptoms we are having and then comparing them to the sex of the baby to see if there is any connection iyswim. I also wonder how many of us with 2 or more dc's already can comment on if they had different or the same symptoms and if that corresponded to the sex of the babies. As you can probably tell I spend a lot of time trying to self check the sex of this baby lol.

I do know that my MIL wants me to have a boy and she wants my SIL to have a girl. The reason; I don't like pink . Like pink is the only choice of clothes for a girl. Then again, she has annoyed me from the start about this pregnancy.

Sorry, hormonal rant hopefully over.

timmette · 19/06/2009 09:35

Hi kittykat
Oh I wouldn't be able to keep it a secret - besides I have to find out we have an obscene amount of clothes from when ds was smaller and my theory is if it's a girl I can sell them and if like I think it's a boy - I will have to sort them out .
I have similar symptoms but much weaker than last time - I am throwing up but only in the evening at the moment but otherwise I feel pretty good - last time was just awful.
My mil I have to say is brilliant - she doesn't care either way although there are no girls anywhere in her family - so she probably quite fancies one. She was here last weekend and did all the cleaning and then offered to organise the basement - because I am pregnant lol.

somewhathorrified · 19/06/2009 09:36

Morning all. Spent the last couple of days plastering. I kinda live in a building site so have to pull my finger out and get this place into a 'habitable' abode b4 I get too big to climb over obstacle courses to access most of the rooms. Luckily the few symptoms I had have appeared to subsided so it's all steam ahead.

bethoo I'm so jealous that you can still get in your size 8's....my loose 10's are getting a bit tight now so have dug out my old size 12's I'm seeing future investment in jogging bottoms.

VivClicquot · 19/06/2009 09:43

There's already huge amounts of pressure on us to have a boy as my sister has an 11 mth old DD, and my DP's brother has a 1yr old DD.

Also, my dad, bless him, has spent his whole life surrounded by women - he has two sisters, but their father died when he was six, so there was never a male around growing up. He then went on to have two daughters, and now has one granddaughter, so is now begging me to have a boy to restore some male balance to the family.

The sad thing is, I've only ever wanted a girl but my total lack of symptoms means I think my family will get their wish...

timmette · 19/06/2009 10:07

VivClicquot I felt like that when I was pregnant with ds - in fact they knew from 13 weeks he was a boy and up until the day before I delivered and 9 scans later I was convinced they were all wrong and it was a girl - he wasn't - lol but I forgot about wanting a girl as soon as I got hold of him. He has been such an easy happy child that quite frankly I would love another just like him - boy too.

EsmeandDante · 19/06/2009 10:15

Sooo...had my scan yesterday afternoon and sadly wasn't good news. They said they couldn't see an embryo at all let alone a fetus or hb. The reason was "you may have reabsorbed it". (i ate my own baby??WTF?) She said it was likely that I will mc in the next few weeks or I can have an EPRC.
I think I'm going to have the EPRC as I don't think I can cope with the wait n see approach. The nurse also said that even after an mc they may need to do the EPRC anyway to have a final clearout. Anybody here ever had one?

So had a big cry last night, ate masses of Domino's pizza and I feel more positive in a "everything happens for a reason" kinda way.

Anyways don't want to put a downer on your day so I really hope you all are feeling good and thank you for all the support/giggles you have given me over the last few weeks! Big love to everyone!xxx

timmette · 19/06/2009 10:23

Hi Esme sorry to hear you news.
This did also happen to me earlier in the year I was pregnant with twins and was reabsorbed also earlier and the the other didn't make it I waited for a mc and bled eventually over a number of weeks and gave up and had the erpc - which in itself is painless and was a relief by then. If there's anything I can do to help - just ask.

kittykat765 · 19/06/2009 10:24

My ds is so laid back and happy as well timmette, and although I felt a bit disappointed at my scan when they said boy, I still love him more than anything. But you may well find that you do get your girl VivClicquot, as apparently the sex of the baby follows the father and siblings. I.e if father one of 4 brothers then it is likely that baby will be a boy. As far as I know that only applies to first borns though. I am not sure about the truth of this theory but my dh has one elder brother, a younger sister and a younger brother. Based on this the odds are high for boys and in fact his elder brothers first born is a boy (his 2nd child was a girl), our first born is a boy and I highly suspect my SIL (wife of youngest brother) will have a boy as well.

somewhathorrified · 19/06/2009 10:24

Esmeanddante so sorry to hear your news.

kittykat765 · 19/06/2009 10:27

Oh x-posts Esmeanddante, i'm so sorry.

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 19/06/2009 10:32

esme im so sorry to hear your news! Never even knew that was possible!

EsmeandDante · 19/06/2009 10:47

Aww thanks for all the love guys
Iateallthecreameggs nor me! but I assume the docs know what they're talking about!

timette thanks for the reassurrance - I was a bit scared of having a general but I know that for me it is the best thing to do.

I feel a bit wierd as I got pregnant accidentally (Im not in a relationship) so won't be trying for a long time! but in a way I'm just where I was a few months ago. free single n all that. ;)

In Jan though I want to see pics of all your bouncing bubas ok girls? xxxx

bethoo · 19/06/2009 10:48

somewhathorrified i think i cheat as my size 8 jeans are low cut so my belly hangs over LOL

bethoo · 19/06/2009 10:54

oh Esme i am so sorry to hear that. thoughts are with you.xx

please don't talk to me about gender! i have a boy and a girl and always wanted two boys though even if that meant having a girl in there . god it sounds like i didn't want dd which is not the case! (more to do with issues with mother daughter relationship i had and fear of repeating itself!) anyway my dp has 2 girls so does that mean i ma going to have another girl? that will be 4 girls and one single little boy with no brothers!!! i have said that if it is a girl i will give it one more try and then that is it! could not cope with more than 3 little madams pinching my make up and clothes! mind you i will be old and out of fashion by then LOL

bethoo · 19/06/2009 10:56

had my doppler out this morning and could hear the hb loud and clear yay. i am now 11 + 2 so was reassured this morning esp as all symptoms have gone and never had sore boobs, could have been cos i was bf!

quirkychick · 19/06/2009 11:04

Esme I'm really sorry about your news.

bethoo glad your scan went well.

I think you are statistically slightly more likely to have ms if you have a girl, something like 55% to 45%. But not enough to determine it for sure. Was a thread a while back about it.

starshaker · 19/06/2009 11:08

bethoo what kind of doppler you got

dal21 · 19/06/2009 12:21

Esme - am sorry to hear your news. Hope you are doing ok.

OP posts:
dal21 · 19/06/2009 12:33

Hello!

Dizzyclare - I had no MS with DS, so you never know! However one of my good friends was borderline suffering from Hyperesimus (sp?) and also went onto have a boy. So I am not sure how much truth there is to that tale!

Londonlottie - glad the booking in appt went well. I still have 3 weeks before I go for everything on mine! But the weeks are gradually running down, so hopefully will be here before I know it! Am 9 weeks today and not feeling as tired as I was which is great. Having said that, would never be up as late as you and Biccy!!! Hope neither of you are too tired today!

Re the sex of this baby, we didnt find out with DS, but we think we may this time. It may help to prepare DS...we are not sure, but certainly considering it this time round. I have no gut instinct as to what the baby is (am just dying to get to the 12 week mark)

Hello to everyone else.

Ooo Bethoo re. the doppler. I didnt think they worked from so early on.

OP posts:
kittykat765 · 19/06/2009 12:58

I didn't think the dopplers could pick up HB so early either dal21. What doppler is it bethoo? I can see me nagging talking to my dh about getting one.

Am seriously right now. My mum who is babysitting at mine has texted me to tell me I have had a letter through the post adressed to my sister from one of her debtors. I haven't spoken to her since about august last year and she hasn't seen my son since he was about 4 months. She didn't even see him on his 1st birthday or even send a text to wish him a happy birthday. I am not sure of her current address but am doing my damn hardest to find out so I can ring the debtor and tell them exactly where she is.

kittykat765 · 19/06/2009 12:59

Sorry, went massively off topic there but am too hormonal and chicken to post in AIBU. Please excuse my ramblings.

helenabeth · 19/06/2009 13:39

Sorry to hear your news, Esme. Look after yourself.
Had an early scan this morning - so relieved there was a heartbeat and only one baby! Looked like a jelly baby in fact. Sonographer thinks I may be a few days further along - 9 instead of 8 weeks. Not going to change my due date though, as DS2 was 10 days late. Hope all feeling okay.

mowmi · 19/06/2009 13:39

Esme - I'm so sorry to hear your news. I too have PCOS and am extra worried about mc because of the trouble it can bring. My first pregnancy was just an empty sac but this one seems to be going ok so don't lose hope of being a mum some day. x

bethoo · 19/06/2009 14:24

my doppler is an angelsounds and it cost £25 from internet. i got it after my missed miscarriage. it picks up hb after 11 weeks so it is reassuring. but ladies i must warn you that if you get one it can take a bit of practice to pick up the heartbeat so do not go into a panic if you cant find it straight away! most midwives would not recommenend it as it can worry people but i was so worried of going for a scan and it not being there after the last time it has been a godsend in both my pregnancies and this one!
my dp cant wait to come home and hear it!

Biccy · 19/06/2009 14:32
