Hello all! Thought I would start this off as our existing thread is full!

Hi All

esme - hope the scan went well.

viv - saw your posts on the pregnancy thread also. Please try and stay positive. The fact that you saw the HB is huge. Dating scans at this stage are hugely unreliable and can be out by up to a week until the 12 weekish mark. to you. When is your 12 week scan.

Lottie - is it your booking in appt today? I have actually taken the 12 week scan as a day off work. Cannot even be bothered trying to do a fairly major appt with DS in tow.

Am trying to remember other posts but brain is totally fried. Work has been ridiculous and right now I am totally shattered! Am positively dreaming for my bed! Roll on DS bedtime!

Hi all,

I haven't been on for a while as I've been on hols to Italy (lovely jubbly!). I am too busy doing the washing to read through everything so I hope everyone's doing ok... the list seems to have doubled in the last fortnight!

londonlottie- ginger oatcakes... where? how? please share!!

Hope your scan went well esme.

Here is my moan for the day. I went for my booking appointment and the midwife who was very nice, bless her, told me that if I am to follow protocol I will have to visit the hospital 9 times in the next 6 months:

2 normal scans
2 anti d injections
2 visits to the consultant because I had a cs last time
2 blood test and 1 extra scan because I am overweight

Ha ha! All with a toddler who does not respond well to fluorescent lighting and/ or being indoors generally! What she didn't know before (but she does now) is that this pregnancy is all about me being in charge and not blindly following protocol, so there are a few visits there I will not be making. She was really good about it, actually.

But what with that and the 17 forms she had to fill in, I did wonder to myself what kind of crazy world we are living in.

VivClicquot · 18/06/2009 19:55

Thanks everyone - you're all ace.

Am feeling quite positive today - my midwife appointment is on Tuesday and my 12 wk scan will be booked after that. Have been warned the waiting list at Wythenshawe Hospital is long though and a lot of people aren't being seen until 14 weeks, so fingers crossed my letter from the sonographer means I can jump the queue.

sleepingalot · 18/06/2009 20:46

Good to hear that you're feeling better VivClicquot. Everything crossed for a queue jump!

Have my midwife appointment tomorrow. Feel quite lucky because they come to your house for the first appointment here... or are they really coming for a snoop??? Made sure the house is spottless.

Also had letter for 1st antenatal appoinment 9th July when I'll be 13 weeks but am a bit as they only give you a scan if you haven't already had one. Had one at 6 wks and one at 9 due to IVF but was looking forward to reassuring one on or after 12 weeks.

Hope everone is well...nearly the weekend.

Biccy · 18/06/2009 21:17

Hi all

Viv, glad you're feeling positive; hope your letter does the trick.

sleepingalot, I'm pretty sure by the time you're 13 weeks the midwife will be able to pick up a heartbeat on their little listening machine, and you'll be able to hear it too - so although you won't get another scan, you should get a reassuring listen to the thundering hoof-like noise of little one's heart pounding away. I found the scan a bit unreal, but listening to the heartbeat amazing. Am really looking forward to that bit.

Biccy · 18/06/2009 21:19

I am feeling a bit better about myself today, as managed to force myself to do some decent cleaning and tidying, and actually feel as though I'm getting slightly back in control. Just need to manage a decent loft run (which involves getting hold of some storage bags or boxes) and things should be pretty much back in order - at least, as much as they ever have been!

Dizzyclarebear · 18/06/2009 21:21

hi all,

been gone a while too and wow there's a lot to read through!! welcome newbies!

So I can have goats cheese?!!!???! How exciting! Last weekend I was at a picnic at the seaside and I had a bag of salad grabbed out of my hands as apparently bagged salad is not allowed (WTF??) Anyone else heard this or did I meet a crazy person this weekend? Oh and apparently Mr Whippy icecreams are off the menu too (I'm ashamed to say that I sulked at that point )

Oh and cravings still hot, spicy foods. Just reached new low - added creole spice mix to an otherwise perfect and delicate risotto i'd just spent what felt like an age to make.

BTW - I've had no morning sickness and a couple of older family members have said that means I'm having a boy - anyone else heard this old wives tale?

Fuchzia · 18/06/2009 21:39

Dizzyclarebear - I've also no morning sickness and been told this means a it's a boy by a few people, including my Mum. I would just like more syptoms in order to feel properly preggers

I'd like to add myself to the list but can't work out how - sorry being thick - is the there a box for this or something?

lilacpink · 18/06/2009 21:44

I was worrying about my up-and-down symptoms, so coming on here it's good to know I'm not alone. I had a paranoid day today and did a lot of knicker-checking too.
My 12 week scan is 6th July, and I'm wishing the days away (apart from when I'm with DD, then I usually forget I'm preg!).
My craving is burgers (same as last time), I'd had a Whopper by 9.30 today
Hope everyone is well.

Biccy · 18/06/2009 21:52

Hi lilacpink, it's very reassuring to hear others' symptons are up and down too; mine are... and it keeps really worrying me. Trying really hard just to make the best of the hours I feel ok, so that I can flake out when I'm not (as far as that's possible with dd about!).

sleepingalot · 18/06/2009 21:54

Thanks Biccy didn't think about that - made me feel better .

Me too no MS, in fact few symptoms that make me feel pregnant at all... was worried at first, I think when we're all at 12 weeks there will be a collective sigh of relief lilacpink, until then I think we'll continue to wish the time away.

Welcome Fuchzia copy the list and paste it into the message box and then add your name.

EsmeandDante. Ah i see you are kindof in the same situation as me apart from the fact that your friend wants to be involved and infact is still speaking to you. Im hoping that when baby comes along he will want to be involved (not with me but with baby) but im not that bothered if he doesnt (well ok i will be a bit).

Hows everybody else doing. Im feeling more positive now. I seem to have very few symptoms again which i hope isnt a bad sign

sleepingalot · 18/06/2009 22:20

Hi londonlottie my appointment letter said I would be offered a scan if I hadn't had one already. So being that I've had 2, don't think they will.

The clinic I went to for IVF said 9 week scan was to check that everthing was progressing as it should... that bean was growing as expected, cervix is closed and that enlarged ovaries have gone down (from stimulation drugs) as can still be swollen at 6 wks. Then they discharged me into the real world...

Am also elsewhere for antenatal care but 13 wk appoinment will be my first there and I've already been given due date. I'll see what the midwife says tomorrow.

Woah, that is weird! Glad somebody else is still up. I'm having a weird evening of feeling lively at a late hour. Most odd - have been collapsing on the sofa straight after dd's bed time up to today.

Can I have a paranoid moment....

Oh sorry 'lottie', it was sort of a rhetorical moment... as in, I have paranoid moments every time my symptons change... go drink your tea!

Biccy · 19/06/2009 00:11

And I meant lottie not 'lottie'... sorry.

timmette · 19/06/2009 06:41

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 19/06/2009 08:10

morning all!

Just wanted to give those in the Bath area some info!

The EPU are running a Dr's event on Friday 26th June in the afternoon, giving scans for anyone 11 weeks or less and FREE piccies and FREE parking at the RUH.

Know this as went to epu had a scan yesterday and saw my little bubs! They put me at 8+3/4 and measured 17.5mm, said my bubba was following the average line . As no pics were offered due to being epu they ofered me an appt next friday for the free pics! I jumped at the chance for extra scan before my 20 week scan! So give them a call and see if you can get an appointment! I dont know if this is classed as advertising i hope not just trying to help those out as we dont have scans before 20 weeks in Bath!

How is everyone doing? Hope all is well!! xx

kittykat765 · 19/06/2009 08:17

londonlottie & Biccy.
I'm another one who has finally got around to doing some long overdue tidying. I am proud to say that I have not only managed to do a lot of tidying but have managed to keep it tidy for two whole days. On the downside, this means I haven't really had the energy to cook much and so I want a takeaway all the time. I have so far managed to abstain though.

Welcome Fuchzia. As previously mentioned, all you need to do is find the most recent list, then copy and paste it with your info. Eg, [day of month due] [mumsnet name] [child number] and optionally [location].

Dizzyclarebear, I am not sure between the link between symptoms and gender of baby. However, with my ds I had no morning sickness (with the exception of when I had taken my pre-natal vitamin ). This time round I have had nausea sporadically through the day which is making me think 'girl'. As previously mentioned though, some women are opposite and have no ms for girls and ms for boys so probably pot luck.

Speaking of symptoms and babies gender though, I am leaning towards this baby being a girl. Firstly because of the nausea this time but also because of the fact that this time around I have turned into such a hormonal cow. I think that means I am either having a girl or a very highly strung boy .

timmette · 19/06/2009 08:29

kittykat765 I also have a ds and am thinking this one is also a boy - it will be interesting to see if we're right - with ds they thought he was a boy at the nuchal scan and said then they were 80 % sure - I wonder if they will be able to see at my scan next week - are you going to find out the sex?
