I hope I've done this right - here is the new thread...and hopefully the last in ante-natal

Hey everyone .

So sorry have not been on. Its been a whirlwind and I am the happiest mama alive .

Haven't been able to catch up on posts yet but just to let you know that my waters had broken on Sunday at 5am!!! Will give full birth story later for anyone thats interested.

Gave birth to beautiful Baby Girl , named Elina at 13.18pm on Sunday 14th June. Weighed 8lbs 4ozs. Had a completely natural birth with just gas and air! I am so proud of myself for that and still in stunned shock for having had a girl.

More later xxx

ermintrude13 · 16/06/2009 15:02

Yay choccie! Well done, and congratulations on the birth of little Elina. Sounds like you did really well and she's a good weight. Look forward to hearing the story soon

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 16/06/2009 16:28

Huge Congratulations to NEMO CHOCCI BUNNYMOTHER loads more gorgeous names (aren't we all clevel

Positive getting home vibes to Adam and Rupert xxxx

Has anyone heard from Naat there's been nothing since Sat and she was expecting to escape from hospital the next day.... beginning to get a bit worried about her (have checked FB and nothing..)

Thanks for all the birthday messages, nice to know I share it with at least 2 of our LO's

Mrsmcjnr- hope you're feeling better soon, take it easy lady, you try to do TOO MUCH!!!

I'm so far behind on all the 'stuff' i haven't got a hope in hell of catching up so am probably going to start again from now.

Annabelle is behaving well today after a marathon seesion yesterday evening 5pm on and off the (sore) boobs untill 11.45!!!!! I was knackered and she was getting tummy ache from taking too much !, It's taken till lunchtime today to get back on track and at 5 this morning I resorted to a dummy to try and help settle her but it worked!!

She has however managed to get past her birh weight and is now 8lbs 3oz Yeah!!!

That's all I can remember for now xxx

silkcushion · 16/06/2009 16:30

Congrats Choccie and hello to Elina

MrsM I think it's lovely of you new mummies to hang around waiting for us to catch you up. Goodness only knows when we'll all pop. Not many left on the still expecting list (esp once Dreamy really gets going)

Tee - excellent birth story thanks for that.

Lawn mowed - had to take lots of breaks though as it's pretty hot here today.

Question about bloody shows - last time I had one a week beforehand and then some more two days before and on the day itself. Does that always happen? Or have any of you gone into spontaneous labour without that as a symptoms first? (guess I'm feeling a bit peeved that I've not had it yet)

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 17:26

Congratulations to all the new mommies!!

The good news is my milk seems to be coming in! I actually have about 1ml that he will get for sure tomorrow and will pump a few more times before I can go see him and hopefully will have more.

I totally overdid it today and feel too drained and sore to go see him tonight. Just rang the hospital and he's doing well. I do feel a bit guilty, of course, but I am trying to take advantage of him being in the best hands to get some rest and heal!

There is one pic of him on my profile, and tons more here: Adam and some video on YouTube.

dreamydowler · 16/06/2009 17:48

Hi Ive just had a bloody show and have been having mild contractions since this time yesterday. they are very irregular though but Im hoping there is no turning back now. Ive got the hospital tomorrow morning so am going to see if they will assess if Im dilating and take it from there.

June2009 · 16/06/2009 17:51

Aww Tee how cute is he, loving the videos :D You get yourself some rest! Take care.

I sent a text to naat, will let you know if she replies back. She did a quick post on Sunday here, I assume she's busy with motherhood :D

Been feeling really up and down and teary all day, being overdue is really mentally draining.
It's all part of the process isn't it; by Friday I'll be so fed up and depressed about it all that I'll be glad I'm being induced. I've got the sweep to "look forward to" tomorrow.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 16/06/2009 17:59

June cheers for texting

It is totally exhausting being overdue, I never got that far previously and so it was a whole new experience, however you do forget very very quickly as mummy hormones take over....

Dreamy- very exciting just settle in and breathe throgh them, we may get some good news tomorrow

Tee- glad to hear about your milk, take it easy and don't ex[pect too much from yourself (if you take the pressure away it gets ALOT easier!!

Annabelle slept most of this afternoon (hence the mad posting splurge ) Am waiting to commence the feeding marathon

June2009 · 16/06/2009 18:22

Quick question to breastfeeding mummies, do you take any vitamins supplements like sanatogen etc after birth?

June2009 · 16/06/2009 18:36

Another quick one, got text back from naat
she's doing fine and will log on as soon as she can to tell us about her baby girl :D

ermintrude13 · 16/06/2009 19:08

June ta for Naat news, glad all is well.

I never took supplements, but then I never take them for anything. If you're having a healthy diet with plenty of carbs for energy and fresh fruit and veg I don't feel there's any need. But some people swear by them.

dreamy sounds very promising - good luck! xx

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 19:34

I keep forgetting to ask...does anyone know why the guidelines for storing breast milk in the fridge says to not put it near any other food? My fridge isn't that big!!

insywinsyspider · 16/06/2009 20:06

hello all - very quick update then off to bed, had another baby boy at 7am at home, had contractions 10-15mins apart all yesterday, took some paracetamol and went to bed, 2.30am v strong contractions woke me up, 6 mins apart, stood up at 3am and waters broke (a first for me!) back to back contractions then and babe arrived just after 7am - I fought the pushing stage , I panicked some what, so think it took a bit longer, he came out with the cord wrapped around his neck 3 times - didn't help I heard MW swear lots when his head came out and then kept saying 'don't push, don't push' he was little blue but doing ok now, had natural 3rd stage so think that prob helped him

His offical name is Edward but we're calling him Bear, he's gorgeous and his big brothers are thrilled, I'm a little sad I'll never have my daugther - looks like I'm just built to have boys but never doing labour again, definitely hanging up my baby booties now!

checking out for a while as think the boys will keep me v v busy but will be hopefully logging if for final baby arrivals and will check out post natal thread - do we have one yet?

MrsMcJnr · 16/06/2009 20:07

Photos on my profile

Been a bit tearful today I?m not feeling great, DS isn?t feeling great and has been a nightmare today, wailing, doing lots of naughty things, I feel like I have told him off all day and then got so upset because all the fun stuff I usually do with him like swimming and soft play are being done by DH and I am getting the hard hours like when DH had his Spanish lesson for an hour and I had to keep him away and quiet DH went to work this afternoon my Mum took DS to her house but still didn?t get any sleep as Aaliyah decided it was time for a mega feed, hope that bodes well for tonight.

Can anyone remind me what dosages of Arnica 200 and B12 we are supposed to be taking for them to be beneficial? Have totally forgotten

LOL tee x posted great minds and all that!!

Was just going to remind myself of Breastmilk guidelines, have read some updated ones recently so will see if I can find them.

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 21:20

Yup, doris Great minds!!

MrsMcJnr · 16/06/2009 21:22

June ? I think you should bring it up with the birth centre and challenge them, maybe after the baby arrives unless you still really want to have the baby there? As you say, nothing miraculous has happened and it is so unfair to uproot your plans at such an emotional time. I take pregnacare throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding and also B12 when breastfeeding, it is meant to really help you stay fit.

Dreamy ? hope it all happens soon thinking of you!

Littlesarah ? glad to hear the latch has improved, I hate it when they faff like that, my nipples are sore still and the initial catch is quite sore so I m always keen to get that part over and done with so hate it when she comes on and off but generally she is a much better feeder than DS was and I am so thankful! Also the dreaded colic he had seems to have stayed away, for now. Hope you had fun tonight, don?t overdo it.

Yay Choccie many congratulations on a lovely baby girl, a great weight and a lovely name! dying to hear more when you can xx

Doris ? thanks for that, it was really interesting. Wow, that was a marathon feeding session! My DS has a dummy and it was a godsend with him, wonder if DD will need one too. Great news on her weight, I am going to take Aaliyah to the Pharmacy to be weighed tomorrow as they have a machine ? no one wants to see us again until she is 4 weeks old but I need to know that she is putting on weight. If you find the milk storing guidelines could you post them? I need a refresher course too

Silkcushion ? I always thought my labour would begin with a show too and I got a little the night before but it could have been due to sex, who knows, all I know is that I didn?t see much at all until 10 mins before DD arrived and then I definitely saw the plug!

Tee ? Adam is so beautiful take care of yourself now; he is going to need a fighting fit Mama when he gets home. Don?t store the milk next to anything strong smelling in the fridge

Naat ? thinking of you and hoping all is going well with your baby girl

Insy ? lovely news and a million congratulations on the safe arrival of Bear (love the name) you take it easy

Right, Aaliyah has been feeding on and off since 8pm so I think I am now safe to go for a shower before bed.. 30C in here, so hot! The neighbour has just cranked up the volume on his music; I hope we are not in for one of those nights!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 16/06/2009 21:32

Mrsmc tee's right they're both gorgeous!!!!

Tee- I just had a look at Kellymom.com they suggest that keeping it at the back away from the door should be ok. Think if they're hospital guidelines they may be being overcautious given that they have really prem etc babies, sorry I'm not any more help

Right off for more feed

(ineed have started treatment and feeling better already stand your ground tomorrow!!! and good luck )

LittleSarah · 16/06/2009 21:53

MrsMcJnr - Gorgeous wee girl you have there, and boy! I hope you get a good night's sleep.

I have so forgotten everything about looking after babies! Alex threw up hugely at dh's gramp's this evening and it totally freaked me. Then his granny said maybe he hadn't been hungry after all and it was just wind hence why he threw up... this never occurred to me! Now I am going to be worriedly winding him every half hour!

ermintrude13 · 16/06/2009 22:17

Insy many congratulations on the birth of your little Teddy Bear . And well done for not pushing - I keep having dreams in which the MW tells me not to and I can't stop myself! Hope you get some lovely bonding days to come. I went to a bbq on Sunday and the family there had 3 sons - 9, 7 and 5 - and they were gorgeous together, like puppies . Their mum felt exactly like you at the birth of #3 but now can't imagine it any other way.

MrsMc They're both gorgeous - doesn't baby A look teeny in the double buggy! Sorry you're having a stressful time - hope some of it is the hormones and that you'll be able to chill soon. You still managed to respond nicely to everyone so I think your functioning standards are extremely high!

Tee I don't even remember guidelines about where to store milk . I tended to freeze mine anyway. Can't imagine it coming to any harm by being next to a jar of pesto or a packet of cheese.

LittleS my DD threw up after every feed whether or not she was winded. Some of them just do, and unless he's bothered by it you probably don't need to be.

My due date tomorrow. And most of you have already delivered . At least I can be officially grumpy now . Night all.
