Thanks Mr Bunnymother! What a story! And congratulations!

As for me, I am working on writing the whole birth story ladies and, I have to admit, giving up on trying to catch up on 5 days missed around here!

Congratulations to all the new mommies!!!!

Anyone have any tips/wife's tales/whatever for bringing milk on? I'm getting drips, but not enough to put in a bottle and take up to my son!!

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 07:29

I just got this great tip from my Aunt:

"Okay, so you hear a car stopping outside your house. You glance out the window and see it's your mother-in-law arriving unexpectedly, and the house is a mess. So here's what you do: Run and get your vacuum cleaner out and park it in the middle of the living room. No need to turn it on. When she comes in and sees it, she'll assume you were in the process of cleaning up. If she's a really fantastic mother-in-law, she might even say, "Here, let me help you with that" and "Hoover" (as they say in Ireland) your house for you."

I thought some of you could use the advice!!

helpivegottogivebirth · 16/06/2009 07:54

Tee

Fennel tea is recommended. Not too bad to drink but add lots of honey. My milk has been slow but I could feel the difference once I started drinking this stuff. I drink at least 4 mugs a day.

And LOTS of water.

My sister in law would swear by fish pie.

dreamydowler · 16/06/2009 08:29

Morning ladies. Well Ive been having lots of irregular contractions since about tea time yesterday so lets hope something is definitely going to happen today as its babys due date. I do feel like baby has dropped and seems to have shifted into a more central position. All my washing is done so Im going to make sure kitchen living room and bathrooms are spotless shop for last minute fridge necessities iron the kids school and visiting clothes for the rest of the week and hope like hell that kicks more regular contractions off. will post later with any more news

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 08:50

Good luck dreamy!!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 16/06/2009 09:17

Congrats to Mr and Mrs bunnymother. I did smile at the 'salad servers' reference as I remember them wielding them in front of us at the ante-natal class and thinking the same thing. Also being concerned at the sheer size of them. When they took them out ready to get DS out, I just thought - just hurry up and stick them up there and get this baby out!

Thanks to you all WRT the evil doctor I saw yesterday. Still in pain and had another night of no sleep. Emily's nose it blocked so it's using saline and an aspirator before every feed so she has a chance of breathing during the feed. Sorry to hear you're also in pain Doris. It's obviously more common than the nasty GP thinks....

My lovely friend just text to ask if DS wanted to come over and play this morning so I can come home and hopefully sleep a bit!

ermintrude13 · 16/06/2009 09:41

Congratulations bunnymother and thanks to your efficient DH! It does indeed sound like a heroic morning, bet you're glad that's over and your little girl is out safe and sound .

Tee are you happy with the pump you're usuing? My sis, like you, had to express before establishing b/feeding and found the electric ones at the hospital much better for her than the hand pump she was used to. I've asked her what she did and she said 'took ages'. I have heard about fennel and other things that can help supply but she had no other tips except try to relax, keep trying, and most importantly know that even the little drops you get are valuable to the babe - the nurses encouraged her to bring them every tiny bit to feed down her baby's tube which made her feel 'useful' - and are telling your body to produce more. Tiny babies only drink tiny amounts of colostrum to begin with but it's all good stuff.

Love the MIL tip - trouble is, my MIL is one of those women who 'doesn't like to interfere'. I sometimes think if one of my DC were choking in front of her she'd hold back .

Ineed sorry little Emily is bunged up, hope you get answers about your pain soon.

dreamy fingers crossed this is It!

effie glad to hear Rupert is doing well and b/feeding, hope he's home very very soon.

silk lol at your Columbo act . I'd love to see piccies of everyone's LOs but draw the line at joining FB so hope people will post one or two on MN if they have a moment [pleading hopefully emoticon].

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 10:20

First Adam update...he's breathing 22% oxygen as of about 7:45 this morning. Normal air is 21% so he's getting there!

ermintrude I am currently borrowing an electric pump from the hospital. I tried using the hand pump I bought but it wasn't getting anything at all. There are so few drips at the moment that they aren't even gathering anywhere for me to bring them with me. But I am hopeful this will change soon!

effie great news about Rupert! I hope he's home very soon.

Ineed sorry Emily isn't feeling well. And how horrible about your pain. Stupid doctors...

I'm about to post what we call 'the money shot' of Adam on my profile!!

loooouise · 16/06/2009 10:23

Bunny, I loved, loved, loved your birth story, many congratulations on bringing out your baby girl into the world through what sounds like sheer will and determination!!
Your DH is a star too! Well done, can't wait to hear the name and hope you're not too battered in the 'zone'. Lots of love.

Tee, looking forward to your stories too, hope dear Adam is good and happy - no milk advice from useless first timer here I'm afraid! LOL at the hoover advice. I reckon it applies to laundry baskets as well.

Dreamy thinking of you and wishing you a beautiful birth.

Silk your facebook misadventure made me laugh and laugh and laugh. hahahah! This could be a great new hoax, faux birth announcements!

FBers - I'm with Ermin on this, pls post pix on here too!

Oh June and Daisy, where art thou both?? ((raises eyebrows quizzically))

I am not so today, I probably scared baby off! I'm hoping my new sunny nature might tempt baby to come out today

silkcushion · 16/06/2009 10:25

Mr Bunny - very good effort at writing the birth story. Sounds pretty exhausting I hope Bunnymother and bunnybaby are recovering well. Seems like I got the name thing wrong as well I promise I'm not making it up people were referring to the new baby by name on fb. (not to self - don't look at fb again)

Dreamy - good luck for today - hope it's all kicking off

Ermin - everything settled down for me a bti overnight (back to sitting in the I'm not giving birth corner) how about you?

Ineed - take that offer and get some zzzzs

Tee - I think trying to catch up on 5 days missed posts would be impossible. Let's hear the birth story instead Love to little Adam.

Think I'll mow the lawn today (front garden looks like a jungle)

silkcushion · 16/06/2009 10:27

x posts again

Loooouise - glad to see you've morphed into a little ray of sunshine overnight (not easy is it?)

Tee - great news about Adam - sounds like he's doing well

lauraloo09 · 16/06/2009 10:44

morning all

tee glad to hear your home and that Adam is doing better, the photos on fb are lovely! Can't wait to hear birth story And great tip about the hoover can't wait to try that one

bunny congratulations and i hope you and babybunny are well x

ineed sorry to hear you had terrible time at doctors did you make another appointment to see female doctor? Sorry to hear Emily has a stuffy nose

silk remember to take it easy today if you are going to mow the lawn nothing too hard now

looouise glad to hear your feeling more happy today, and you never know might tempt baby to make an appearance

dreamy hopefully this is the start of something for you please keep us posted and sending positive labour vibes

No news from daisy or june? Think it was daisy's induction date today unless she was successful yesterday changing it to Thursday.

Yesterday was DH and I's second anniversary so decided to go for a nice meal and it was great! Had a lot of irregular cramps and contractions but never came to anything but hopefully this is the start of something for me, would love to go before saturday

Mum is off work again today so taking her into town shopping - she is wanting to start buying things for SIL's new baby due in october...sounds silly but sometimes i still feel low at brother and SIL having their 4th so soon after my baby, i mean my baby isn't even here yet and sometimes i feel people are forgetting her already as they go shopping and buying things for brother's baby, when people (except in laws) haven't helped me as much buying things like clothes etc...maybe i'm just being hormonal which is a great possibility

Have a lovely day juner's i'll be back on later hoepfully to hear of new births

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 16/06/2009 10:58

Hi all,

Will pop back later and post more but just wantyed to answer Tee

How have you been instructed to express???

When DD2 was bil by mouth, I was advised to have a photo of her very nearby and keep looking at it and thinking of her to help stimulate the let down, then iwas told to do 5 min pumping one side then five the other then 4min each side then 3min then 2 and 1 each side. Before this i hadn't been pumping for anywhere near long enough to start stimulating my supply (and atm don't expect gallons initally I was just getting 10-20ml even with this regime) but with all the pumping your body will recognise the need to produce more milk. Oh and also pumping at least every 4 hours overnight and 3 hours during the day.

If you've been told all this already am very sorry, but maybe someone else will find it useful Good luck and hand in there Tee, as I said to effie there is nothing harder, once you're through this you'lll be able to cope with anything!

June2009 · 16/06/2009 11:00

Am still here and nothing has changed, I'm not even having contractions or anything so I'm not holding my breath.
I booked for a second sweep tomorrow and hoping this will help...
Had a long walk, LOADS of pineapple and been bouncing on my gym ball to no avail.
Baby's stubborn comfy

Tee2072 · 16/06/2009 11:09

Adam's birth story

MrsMcJnr · 16/06/2009 11:40

Morning ladies just out of interest is it ok for us Mummies to carry on posting with you Mummies to be rather than move to a Post Natal thread? I want to stay here with you until all the regulars have popped and we can all move together

Littlesarah ? it?s just so hard to prioritise sleep at 7pm though when you are used to having the evening as your only window to get things done isn?t it? We must though. I have just got up today, have a migraine and feel awful, I guess it is all catching up; I need to be nicer to myself.

Bunnymother and father ? wonderful birth story ? well the ending was fabulous ? you poor things having to go through all that!! Made me cry reading it actually. Many, many congratulations

Tee ? I have heard that Weleda nursing tea is good but I have no personal experience. I?d recommend expressing after a hot shower and preferably thinking about Adam at the time, that was when I got the most out. Hang in there hon, he?ll be home with you soon xx Loved your birth story wonderfully written. Sorry about the bruises, I am being silly about the one I have on my hand from the syntometerine but it hurts like hell. I bet Adam is a cutie

Dreamy ? yay!!! Can?t wait for news x

Ineed ? sorry to hear that on top of the suspected thrush Emily is having breathing probs too, you must be shattered, hope you enjoyed DS?s sortie!

It won?t be long Looouise

Silkcushion ? mowing the lawn is bound to bring the baby on!

Ermintrude ? promise to post photos, I am a FBphobe too.

Laura ? happy anniversary for yesterday you?ll be glad in years to come that that day is still your own

Hey Doris

June2009 · 16/06/2009 12:20

hey mrsmc I really like that mummies are posting here, it's easier to keep up and saves the faffing around or looking for the other thread :D
There's a picture of Adam on Tee's site. If you look on the left and go to "June", click on "I'm home".

Today I can't help but getting wound up by the birth centre saying they wouldn't deliver my baby anymore, wondering whether to bring it up after the sweep tomorrow to see who made the decision and why exactly, it's not like the baby has suddenly doubled in size overnight. They have been feeling ym tummy every week for the past month or so.
I don't feel too good and I can't tell if it's the lack of sleep, or worrying about induction or what (in any case it's probably not labour).

ermintrude13 · 16/06/2009 12:50

Don't leave us yet mrsmc and other mummies - unless you want to talk in great and gruesome details about nappies .

You can see baby Adam on Tee's MN profile looking rather philosophical and very cute.

June no harm in asking them to be precise about their concerns, they should have done so in the first place.

Is everyone else off birthing or feeding babies? Sigh.

worriedamy · 16/06/2009 12:56

Yey, I finally have the internet back so I can read mumsnet properly instead of off my phone! Never thought to have a look for mumsnet groups or anything on Facebook- does the June thread have a group?!?!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 16/06/2009 12:56

ineed found this yestreday it may be useful to print out a copy before your appt tomorrow thrush info from bfn

dreamydowler · 16/06/2009 13:01

Hi all still here and still getting pains about every 15-20 minutes. Im not going to even consider going in until they are a lot closer together and stronger. I think these are just moving her into the correct position and then hopefuly they will pick up pace

LittleSarah · 16/06/2009 13:18

Good luck dreamy!

Thanks to bunny's dh for birth story, sounds like she did wonderfully!

MrsMcJnr - v tired here too, for some reason, just as Alex's latch has improved hugely he now seems reluctant to use it. Last night he kept whinging and snuffling around the breast but took an age to get him to feed, not what you need!

Right, I would catch up more but need to change this wee man before going to hearing appointment.

Got dinner at dh's gramp's house tonight, I think I will be aiming to be home by 9pm (we are going for six so shouldn't be too hard!).... so I can veg out.

MrsMcJnr · 16/06/2009 13:31

quick question how much paracetemol can i safely take breastfeeding? thanks

ermintrude13 · 16/06/2009 13:45

MrsMc the NHS site says that, provided the baby is full-term and healthy, paracetamol is the preferred painkiller to take while b/f although Nurofen is also considered safe. But they don't give amounts so I guess the normal dosages apply. Very little goes into your milk and no ill effects have been noted so as long as you're not overdoing it - or taking them for days on end - it should be fine. LLL also says that most medication taken by the mother has little or no effect on the baby - the body 'screens' most harmful effects. If in doubt maybe alternate paracetamol/nurofen? But if you need continued pain relief talk to the doc.

MrsMcJnr · 16/06/2009 13:54

Thanks hon, head hurts
